Love The PSB M4U 2 Headphones!
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I will refer first to another excellent set of headphones which have served me well. The Grado SR80e allows me to fully enjoy my music without blocking out my surroundings. Great headphone set, but allows for external sounds to be heard when needed. Now for the PSB M4U 2 headphones. Excellent sound quality with comfortable fit and weight! The review in Sound & Vision magazine was right on the mark when they said it is like listening to a great pair of speakers in a great room! That is not intended to be a direct quote of the review, but it fits the description perfectly. I fully enjoy the PSB headphones when I want to block out the world for a while and have high quality sound for my personal enjoyment. I would highly recommend them to anybody that is willing to spend the price tag. I know it is comparable to buying a set of good bookshelf speakers, but it fits on your head so well, how can you turn that down? So far, I have only used the headphones in the "passive" unpowered mode, but have enjoyed them fully. You can too!
Pros: Great sound quality, good fit, and nice weight. Blocks out outside noise very well with just the fit of the ear cups alone. That is without using the noise canceling feature offered.
Cons: The connecting cord feels light weight and fragile to me. The good thing is that since it is detachable, it can be replaced if needed. Of course, since I also own the Grado SR 80e headphones, I am comparing the two cords to each other. They are worlds apart as the Grado set has a very heavy cable which compared to the PSB which has a much smaller, light weight cord. I still give a 5 star rating because the PSB cord can be replaced if needed.
