Works Well - But Go Easy With the Threaded Mounting Rods

Robert from Lexington Park, MD on 8/4/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm on my second unit as one of the aluminum mounting arms on the first one stripped when tightening the threaded rod. Crutchfield handled the return and replacement with lightning speed - and it arrived the next day which helped me complete the installation. I have a Klipsch R-25C (14.8#) on the shelf. It handles the weight well. As some other reviewers have noted, for the price you'd think it would have a rubber or felt mat. It comes with two, very small rubber, self-adhesive pads (~ 1/4" square) - and the instructions don't indicate what to do with them. I used them under the front lip to cushion the shelf on the top of the TV. Installation was straight forward. Based on the experience with the first shelf, to ran the threaded rods through the aluminum mounts. These mounts are very lightweight and the metal is apparently is very soft. If these were thicker, there would likely be less issue with stripping the threads on those mounts. After two days, the speaker is still in place and I have not doubt it will remain there. The Klipsch came with self-adhesive, plastic pads for the bottom of the speaker. I used two of these to angle the speaker downward toward the seating area as the TV (50" Samsung UHD) is hung above a bar. I gave this 4 stars due to the stripped thread issue on the first one. If they improve the mounts, then they can easily mitigate this risk. Otherwise, this is perfect for the application. Crutchfield gets 50 stars - exc

Pros: Fits well. Easy assembly.

Cons: Mounts can be easily stripped. Pricey for what you get.

It's Worth It!

Exactly what I needed. Looks very cool with the center speaker on top of the flat-screen. The sound is also improved after adjustments of audio and very crisp. Rex was awesome in assisting me.

Pros: Perfect

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Product comes in a neat package - is easy to install with the provided instructions. Fits well with our 55" Samsung TV and holds my Micca Center channel speaker above the TV perfectly.

Pros: Light, sturdy, easy to install design for someone who doesn't want to use any tools or drill anywhere to put up a center speaker etc.

Cons: I feel that a product this basic should be cheaper. But perhaps we're being charged for the genius idea itself.

The perfect solution for placing a center speaker.

Pros: Easy to assemble and attach.

Serves the purpose, doesn't fit all TVs

Bondidude from Alabama on 5/27/2015

This serves the purpose but doesn't fit quite snugly against my TV. It seems like it's pretty steady and is currently holding a Fluance SX Center channel. It also kind of covers up some of the vent ports on the back of the screen, again, not a huge deal as I think it's still getting plenty of ventilation but it's slightly concerning none the less.

Pros: - Easy to install - Serves it's purpose - Doesn't look too out of place when installed

Cons: - Doesn't fit snugly against all televisions

Works great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am using this to support my Polk CSi A4 center channel speaker which weighs 15.5 lb. It is on top of my very thin (maybe 1 inch) 4K TV with no fitting issues. I am very pleased.

Pros: The speaker above the TV looks kinda of cool.

Cons: Should have a rubber mat to place under the speaker?

cab 1408 center channel bracket

Mike D from fairfield ca on 3/11/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Awesome idea and a well built product. Works great for me! My two front stage towers are a little closer to each other and close to the back walls due to the shape of my living room, and my center channel was making my movies and music too muddied up and loud. By putting the center channel speaker over the tv... the soundstage opened up and sounds 100% better! I was afraid it would be too high... but the sound is working out great. I just listed the tv down 2" and the dialogue is clear and crisp!

Pros: Great placement fory center!

Cons: Be sure to pick up some sticky velcro tape... I live in earthquake territory in california... and wouldn' want the 17 lb speaker wiping out my dogs or wife!

Very well built

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a simple product, not many moving parts. It's very easy to install and looks and feels very solid. No cheap/flimsy parts anywhere.

Pros: Solid materials, excellent craftsmanship, easy to install

Cons: Price is a bit high.

Does the job

JB from Tuscaloosa, AL on 10/9/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this product because my new center channel speaker was too big for the place designated for it in my entertainment center. I was initially concerned that this bracket might damage my TV, but now after having my 17 pound speaker sitting on it for over a week, there are no issues. This stand is very sturdy and the speaker isn't going anywhere. This is a well made product, slightly pricey, but overall I am satisfied.

Pros: Sturdy

Cons: Price

Works as expected

KurtM from Monterey, CA on 9/19/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Solidly constructed, functionally precise. It's a pretty simple design, so it works just like you'd expect. I was impressed with the stability of the platform after "installing", which only takes a minute. I suspect most will use this as a shelf for a center channel speaker but I'm using it to support a TV antenna and Wii remote sensor. The shelf remains stable and in place even when twisting the rabbit ears around. Visually, you hardly see it. Bottom line, it works!

Pros: Solidly built, allows for minute adjustments. Very stable.

Cons: Not exactly cheap for what it is. The price is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars

good product. does what it says its going to do. i have a 30lb speaker on it and it feels sturdy.

Pros: build quality, blends in with tv so its not noticeable.

Cons: for the price it should include a rubber mat on top and sound deadening underneath.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

This seems to be the only company making a shelf for mounting small components and center channel speakers on the TV.[ GLENN  Sep 29, 2016 ]
Center Stage shelf appears to be the best option on the market. Stable and simple attaching system with a large platform were key to picking the CSB-1409[ Mark  Aug 03, 2016 ]
It is the best choice to handle a center channel speaker to sit above/on the wall mount TV versus having to mount to the wall in some fashion (shelf, brackets, etc).[ Robert  Jul 30, 2016 ]
did not want to wall mount. No space on the TV stand. Weight and depth capacities matched my speaker[ Henry  Jun 15, 2016 ]
Will accommodate my lack of space under the tv[ MARCOS  Mar 13, 2016 ]

Hi Joe, I believe you should be o.k. You will end up with 4" of hang over but the shelf has a front lip and if you tilt it up a little in the back there should be no issues for you with some of it over the back of the shelf. The only thing to be aware of with these shelves which are great is the bolts are not long enough for some really thin flat panel t.v.'s. I had to replace the bolts for mine but now it looks and works great.[ Sal  Apr 27, 2015 ]
Looking at your specs, it will hang over 5 inches. However, your width weight and most of the depth weight is on the bracket so it will not fall off. If you're asking about aesthetics, it will look just fine. Personally, I wouldn't want my TV to have to be 14 inches away from the wall to accommodate the length of this speaker.[ Mary  Apr 27, 2015 ]
It does not block the picture. It comes down about 3/8th of an inch. the thing you do need to know is that I had to retap the screw holes and get bigger bolts. the ones that come with the unit are too short for standard lcd tv's. In order for the ones that come with the bracket to work the tv would have to be at least 3 to 4 inches thick so they can touch the back of the tv. Once I fixed that issue and used new longer bolts it worked flawlessly.[ Sal  Aug 22, 2014 ]
The overhang is minimal so it won't block any of the picture.[ Patrick  Aug 22, 2014 ]
It does not, provided that you have a little bit of frame around your TV screen.[ Serge  Aug 22, 2014 ]
No, none at all. Though my TV has a 2-inch plastic border framing the screen itself.[ John  Aug 22, 2014 ]
It is about 1/4 inch and does not block anything on my tv.[ Robert  Aug 22, 2014 ]
No it does not, unless your screen goes all the way to the edge[ Henry  Aug 22, 2014 ]
Not at all. It fit perfectly, and I'm very happy with it.[ Mary  Aug 22, 2014 ]
Not at all, but then again I guess that would depend on one's television set. My Sony 32" has enough of a boarder if you will at the top so the bracket//shelf doesn't even come close to impeding the picture. Hope this helps.[ David  Aug 22, 2014 ]
It does not cover any of the screen. It extends down less than 1/2 inch from the top edge of the frame. I've never seen a tv with a frame thin enough to even be close to being a problem. Cheers.[ JOEL  Aug 22, 2014 ]
