Solves the tv's problem of only having optical audio-out
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I purchased a fancy-shmancy tv that didn't come with a simple old-fashioned RCA or headphone audio-out. It came with optical audio out ONLY (Toslink). What to do?! I bought this!! It makes it possible to use my wired headphones with the tv. I also plug in the base transmitter of my wireless (non-Bluetooth) headphones. They both sound better than ever because of the sound boost from amplification. The conversion from digital to analog output is flawless. Instead of being bulky, it's a stylish little device that looks at home next to the tv. To plug it in and keep it powered, a printer-USB cable is provided. (The printer USB end goes into the D1, the standard USB end goes into a wall-outlet USB charger that's not provided but is available everywhere for under $10.) At just under $170, it's a very reasonable cost to solve the HDTV's problem of not having a regular audio-out. My TV sound is richer than ever.
Pros: Sound is excellent. Simple to use. Includes volume-control. Well-built. Nice curved styling. Good value.
Cons: Nothing negative to say about this device. It's solid.
