First, the iBT97 comes with a built-in FM radio — so you can enjoy it as is, right out of the box. But the system also has Bluetooth, so you can wirelessly stream music to it from your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or other compatible device.

The system also features NFC (Near Field Communication). Just touch a compatible portable device — such as a smartphone or tablet — to the iBT97 for instant wireless pairing. Then with one touch you can play music, stream audio from videos amd games through the iBT97 — without wires and without logging into a network.

Because the iBT97GC uses a USB charging port, you can place just about any tablet or smartphone on the system's cradle. (tablet not included)

Sound and talk options

No matter what the source, the iBT97 delivers your music with clear, spacious sound. Specially designed speaker chambers ensure the stereo speakers work at optimal efficiency.

No more scrambling for the phone in the middle of the night. The iBT97 functions as a speakerphone with your connected smartphone. Just press a button on the system's control panel to activate the built-in microphone and take the call. The microphone is designed to minimize room echo, keeping your voice clear to your caller.

Charging options

A USB port lets you charge just about any portable device straight from the iBT97. Just connect your device's USB charging cable to the system. You can place your smartphone, tablet or portable music player in either an upright or horizontal position as it's charging.

Alarm options

You can choose to wake up by electronic tone, an FM radio station, or anything from your paired device. So select your favorite music app, Internet radio station, or stored music track and get a good night's sleep. I think for the money this is an excellent buy, with worthwhile features. Also a decent sound for a table/alarm radio.

Pros: good sound . up to date features/inputs. short bucks.

Cons: none yet

Great Sound

Birdiesis from New York on 2/14/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this for my husband's birthday. He loves it! The sound is great, it picks up many stations, & iPod sounds great too, Haven't had the chance to use the blue tooth so that's why I gave it a 4 star.

Pros: Easy to use, large numbers on display, mobile device compatibility, Sound

Cons: None so far.

John from Beekman, ny on 12/31/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was what I was looking for - a nice sized bedside alarm clock that will charge my phone, has bluetooth capability and can get loud when needed. Sound quality is great, but one must remember it's still an alarm clock by design. Good enough for an average size bedroom or den.

Pros: Great sound quality Easy to manage between modes and alarms Clear display Compact design

Cons: No dock; needs charger cable

Rogpol from Jennings, LA on 12/27/2014

Cons: None

works fine

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like this unit. Has large screen for easy viewing. The functions are good, the sound is good. Lots of features. All in all this is a very nice unit. I have a Bose Wave radio as a comparison. The Wave definitely has fuller sound - but it doesn't have the quantity of features this unit does AND it is about 3X the price.

Pros: Lots of features, easy to read, good sound.

Cons: None really.

just what I wanted

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the clock radio that I wanted. Good sound, easy to use.

Pros: I like being able to charge my phone.

Karl from Woodstock , vt on 10/4/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like it. I tried a cheaper model from another brand but the display was not as nice as this and too bright even at lowest setting. The brightness on this model adjusts nicely. The sound quality is good as well. The font on the display is a little odd and the styling is unique but overall not a negative

Pros: Easy to use controls. Good sound quality. Brightness control.

Cons: Styling takes a bit of getting used to

Great way to greet the day

Cliff K. from North Las Vegas, NV on 1/25/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This clock radio has more capabilities than anyone could ever need and the sound is great. It has total adjustment of nearly every parameter and a way to connect every electronic gizmo now and into the foreseeable future. I shopped against the big box stores before I bought from Crutchfield.

Pros: Sound quality, ease of use, flexibility to adapt to future needs, wakes gradually with increasing volume (gain)

Cons: menu is a little difficult to learn

Nice Unit

Paul from Suffolk, VA on 1/19/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very happy with this unit. Has everything I want in a daily alarm clock. Ihome are normally made for apple products, I'm droid user. The USB connection lets me connect my droid and the clock provides a place to stand the phone on its side while charging. The sound is very good and love the gentle wake. No more jarring wakeups.

Nice Product

Don from Atlanta on 1/13/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I decided to finally upgrade an old alarm clock that was becoming a bit unreliable. Decided to give this a try and it works very well. The display is very clear and the sound is better than I expected for the price. I'm definitely happy with my purchase.

Pros: Bang for buck, blue tooth, attractive design, diverse alarm functions

Cons: Only one charging port, was a bit tricky to set up initially

iHome iBN97 Clock Radio

M from Glen Allen, VA on 11/6/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice clock radio. Well constructed. Blue tooth works through out the house sometimes too good! Deep Rich sound is nice.

Pros: Deep Rich Sound that fills the room.

Cons: Blue tooth must be cut-off on your device when not using as sometimes it will grab when you are least expecting it.

I have the iPod Touch Gen 4 and have played thru the USB and bluetooth with no problems. It even charged it while it was playing when it was plugged into the USB while in bluetooth mode. I have not used the 3.5mm cord that comes with it. [ JOSEPH F  Feb 10, 2014 ]
Hi Hunter, I am not sure if you can plug it in except with a cord. I have not used my ihome yet because I didn't realize that it was for iPhone 5.
