The Sound Ordnance B-8P powered bandpass sub comes ready to add some dynamic thump to your ride — just wire it up for power and secure it in your trunk or cargo area. This rugged box houses an 8" sub that delivers plenty of firepower, thanks to its polypropylene cone, treated foam surround, and stamped steel basket. The handsome bandpass enclosure features 5/8" medium-density fiberboard construction for enduring strength, while a clear acrylic window lets you see the woofer in action. Inside the chamber, four LED lights provide visual enhancement to go along with your bass. The durable black carpet cover protects the B-8P and your vehicle from nicks and scrapes. And the Sound Ordnance logo gives you the added assurance of a 3-year warranty to go with your investment.

Great powered Sub for a really great price. Installed this in the truck of my nieces 2006 Civic. For a small car this would be a great addition if you can mount in the trunk.

Just need some bass to round out my listening experience in the old w124 Benz. I'm new to this and my local pawn shop was out of subs so I figured I'll just get this all-in-one [ Caleb  Mar 05, 2017 ]
This is fantastic for the money. The first one I bought didn't last past 18 months because I set the crossover at 200 and it's only rated for 150. Set it up right and you should be quite satisfied. Don't buy this expecting the equivalent of 2 12's of course. Bandpass always optimizes the minimal size and power. Enjoy. [ BENJAMIN  Mar 03, 2017 ]
The best [ Antonio Cruz de  Feb 27, 2017 ]
compact size and good price. Everything I needed in a bandpass and box design, w/amp. Size was an issue for me, so I would have liked a 10" sub turned on it's side so the Height could be smaller. Oh well. I might switch out the speaker with a better one if it doesn't hit. I l don't care about the LED lights either. Im glad there's a switch to turn them off. [ JOEL  Feb 14, 2017 ]

affordable price. [ Javier  Oct 08, 2016 ]
I've wired up several stereos, amps, sub woofers in the past. I don't have as much free time to do that sort of thing anymore, so I was looking for something simpler. I plan to install this on the transmission hump in my pick up in front of the factory console. I have a JVC head unit and upgraded door speakers, but it could use more punch in the bass territory The wiring will be a short easy run from under the dash to this unit, then I'll figure out a console extension to cover it. I picked this little , powered sub to go with a four speaker system in my wife's New Beetle. I just wanted to add a little bass. The four 300 watt kicker speakers was put with a little Clarion amp, and a Kenwood deck. Everything sounded great in that car. It just didn't put out very much bass. We're both getting older. Not interested in winning Stereo contests . We just wanted a nice clean sound at a reasonable level with a little thump, and no distortion! [ Bryan  Aug 26, 2016 ]
space and ease of hookup, reviews look promising... [ Ben  Aug 24, 2016 ]
Unfortunately my sound ordnance B-8P was stolen along with my Jeep Cherokee, However my vehicle was recovered minus the subwoofer .I love the sound it put out I had to purchased another one .I would do it again & again. [ Robert B.  Aug 23, 2016 ]

My boyfriend has a Bose system in on vehicle and a basic sound system in the other. I bought him a new JVC touch screen stereo fro Christmas but he still needed speakers and a sub to sound more like the Bose. Hoping this gives it what it needs. [ Cayla  Jun 09, 2016 ]

Price and fitment, sounds great in Wrangler TJ [ ROBERT  Feb 25, 2016 ]
It was a good price and I've had it in my SUV for about a year now and it sounds awesome, gives that nice low end thump in your chest without annoying other drivers. [ TODD  Feb 10, 2016 ]
Because of price and positive comments on reviews, also it looks like a space saver. I will give it a try and share feedback in the future. [ Julio  Jan 20, 2016 ]
Fit my needs / situation, and was a good value. This thing cranks and sounds great in my application ( solar powered screen house ). I've got this mounted overhead . . . . contrary to what is normally done . . . . . but sounds really good and fills in the very low end . . . . [ ROBERT C  Dec 27, 2015 ]

it had very good reviews [ James  Dec 19, 2015 ]

Perfect size for my small car, and I'm not building a monster system. Just one that has a little extra punch. [ DON  Dec 10, 2015 ]
I had previously bought one of these for my daughter a few years ago. It has performed beyond our expectations! Had to get another one for my other daughter. [ Michael  Dec 10, 2015 ]

The remote on wire was wired directly to the radio so it's turned on when the power to the radio comes on. Haven't had any problem. [ Anthony  Mar 09, 2017 ]
No the amplifier doesn't say on, no switch is needed. Shuts down when car off. [ Samuel  Mar 08, 2017 ]
Yes it turns itself on and off. I bought the amplifier wiring kit with it and it worked great but you need to follow the directions in the kit. [ mark  Mar 08, 2017 ]
Yes, as long as you have your blue power lead coming from your head unit hooked to it. [ JOHN  Mar 08, 2017 ]
Hi Mike. You will need to run a switched power source to the B-8P from the antenna or other auxiliary lead on your head unit. This is in addition to the heavy guage main power and ground. Hope that helps. [ Chris  Mar 08, 2017 ]
My daughter's Aveo has a spare tire cover/trunk liner that covers almost the entire trunk so there was literally no place to mount the box. I ended up using wide, adhesive backed velcro and adhered the "hook" portion to the tire cover and just sat the box right on top of it. It holds it well enough that it won't bounce or slide, but still allows you to pull it off to get the spare out if needed. I just left some slack in the wires so it can e pulled into the back seat . Works great. [ Chad S  Jan 24, 2017 ]
What I love about it is that it is easy to put in and out of our SUV. I would not mount it at all. I have never had an issue with it rolling around unsecured. How ever, use a flat rubber bungee cord if you must. [ MARIO L  Oct 24, 2016 ]
I have two of these in two different cars. I've never needed to mount them to anything as they are heavy enough not to bounce around. I did put some grippy drawer liner stuff underneath to keep them from sliding. [ Chris  Oct 22, 2016 ]
I didn't want to drill into it and risk hitting something inside, so I stapled some 3" wide velcro to the bottom (hook side) and put it in my trunk. The velcro holds on to the carpet VERY well [ DAVID  Oct 21, 2016 ]
hi if you add the sub you only have more bass and don't change anithing on the other speakers . But if you put and amp on that speakers that makes sound better. [ SANTOS BERARDO  Oct 17, 2016 ]
This sub is perfect if you just wanna had bass to all your music it sounds amazing for the price and it brings new life to the music. If u buy a separate amp for just your door and rear deck speakers and they aren't stock speakers they will get a boost in sound and cleraity. Hope this helped! [ Francisco  Oct 17, 2016 ]
Unfortunately no, this sub has its own power supply and is just receiving the signal from your head unit. If you want the other speakers to focus on their own frequencies I suggest adding and external eq or sound processor [ KEITH  Oct 17, 2016 ]
If you want the sub woofer to handle bass only, turn the receiver's bass all the way down in the equalizer and turn the volume on the sub woofer all the way up. [ SHANNON L  Oct 17, 2016 ]
Yes, the sub will help balance out the sound in your car. It will be a great addition to your system. This sub will not drown out your system by adding too much base. [ STEVEN  Oct 17, 2016 ]
It's not very heavy at all, I would guess between 10 and 20 pounds. I hope this will help. [ kenneth  Sep 18, 2016 ]
A little over 20 pounds. [ SHANNON L  Sep 17, 2016 ]
Read the description on website [ JUAN  Sep 16, 2016 ]
No,all amps have an inline fuse near the battery to protect the amp and battery from surges or short circuits, so yes it needs both. [ RAYMOND  Aug 02, 2016 ]
I think the 2nd fuse is for the protection of the cars electrical system. I put an a fuse inline from the battery to the sub. [ JOHN  Aug 02, 2016 ]
If you don't put a fuse closer to the battery then any current or spike will travel the entire length of the power supply wire before it hits a fuse. This is not a problem on a fresh install. But after a while if there is a spot along that wire that has possibly become exposed it could be a danger. I would def put a fuse in line close to the battery just for long term safety. [ MICHAEL  Aug 02, 2016 ]
I did not place the fusible link in my wiring and it works just fine, I have had no problem at all. I hope this helps! [ kenneth  Aug 02, 2016 ]
You may need an after market amplifier, the good folks at Crutchfield can assist you with any aftermarket items. It does sound good in the trunk of our 93 Celica, just enough boom, boom, boom. [ TODD  Jun 30, 2016 ]
Absolutely. It will work with any factory system as long as you use a converter. The sound will blow you away [ KEITH  Jun 17, 2016 ]

I would not make the change in subs. Bandpass enclosures (the ones that are worth it) are finely tuned. That being said, the 8" in the Sound Ordnance enclosure is the same thing you will find in a similar Dual product. The sub it matched to the amp, and the airspace is matched to the sub. You could try mounting a Rockford Fosgate sub in there, but your results may actually be worse. It all depends on the Q of the sub and what the RMS value is in relation to the amperage provided to it. I will say this: The Sound Ordnance B-8P is a very, very efficient sub system. I will also say that the Rockfor Fosgate PS-8 is equally impressive, if not more. Both are top-notch, but swapping parts between the two is not a great idea. [ PATRICK T  Mar 17, 2016 ]
If I had to guess I would say 4 ohms, but that will not matter: The sub has a built-in powered amplifier, so all you have to worry about is power, remote, and signal wiring. Everything else is internal. [ PATRICK T  Mar 07, 2016 ]
Yes there is a switch on the back that allows the less to come on while the sub is on. [ JARED  Dec 24, 2015 ]
There is a switch on the back that will turn on the lights. [ Travis  Dec 23, 2015 ]
The Sound Ordnance B-8P features a remote turn-on lead that you would connect to your radio so that it turns on/off when the radio does. The woofer used in the B-8P is nearly identical to the Sound Ordnance M2-8SVC; so they would likely sound similar depending on what amp you chose to power the M2-8SVC sub. I have this hooked up with my challenger factory deck. I have two of them in my trunk and they sound great. If you have RCA outs it will work or you can splice into some speaker wire with and RCA converter. [ MY  Nov 28, 2015 ]
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving, Paul, It will work with a factory deck through its speaker wires into the speaker-level inputs of the Sound Ordinance sub. It's not difficult to connect. Allow the sub for at least a week of low power in order to properly "break in", afterwards, you can hit it hard and it will sound even better. Goodluck and have fun with it. [ ALBEN K  Nov 27, 2015 ]
You need a deck with a 12V trigger connection [ DANIEL  Nov 26, 2015 ]
I really don't know. It was very simple to install but I'm not sure about the remote wire to a factory radio. [ SCOTT W  Nov 26, 2015 ]
I had it on my factory deck for a couple weeks before I upgraded. Hope this answered your question. [ Robert  Nov 26, 2015 ]
It will work, you just need to purchase a line out converter and amp install kit. [ LUIS A  Nov 26, 2015 ]
no but if your doing this to hide the light it has a shut off on the back [ SCOTT T  Aug 14, 2015 ]
No absolutely not [ HERBERT  Aug 11, 2015 ]
I wouldn't think it would effect the sound since the glass is actually the back of the speaker and there is a slit next to the glass for the sound. Hope that helps [ TIM  Aug 10, 2015 ]
No. It is just clear plastic should not be hard to paint, it dose have a couple of small led lights in the box. [ MANUEL R  Aug 10, 2015 ]
No I will not just if you remove the glass make sure when you put back on make sure the screws are tight [ ADAM  Aug 10, 2015 ]
I'm not sure I wouldn't see why it would [ SCOTT W  Aug 10, 2015 ]
It shouldn't effect the sound at all, you just won't see the lighting built-in. [ JOSEPH  Aug 10, 2015 ]

If your car head unit has rca sub out it will [ ROY G  Feb 02, 2015 ]
Steven, Unfortunately the answer is no. There is no provision for a remote bass control module. The only way to remotely turn off the unit would be to hook up some kind of toggle inline with the "REM" or remote wire. If this is critical to your decision, then you may want to look at the B-8PT, as it does come with a remote bass controller. I hope this helps with your decision. Oh, BTW, the B-8P is very impressive for the money! Sincerely, Marc [ MARC M  Feb 02, 2015 ]
This model does not have that ability. [ MANUEL R  Feb 02, 2015 ]
you will need to buy a RCA patch cord and wire to run the power lead ground and remote turn on [ JOHN  Jan 30, 2015 ]
You will need an amp install wire kit. [ MY  Jan 29, 2015 ]
What you need depends on your existing stereo. At a minimum you will need an amp wiring kit that includes power and RCA cables, but you may also need an adapter to integrate it into your existing car stereo. [ Henry  Jan 29, 2015 ]
You'll need a standard amp wiring kit with rca wires. [ GRANT E  Jan 29, 2015 ]
I would think you would have to have a 12 volt converter to make it work. [ KEITH M  Dec 12, 2014 ]
I would not think so since the amp runs off a 12 volt negative ground system. [ MY  Dec 11, 2014 ]
This is a 12v car system so you would not be able to plug it in to your home power outlet. If you had a 12v power supply you might be able to make it work. [ Henry  Dec 11, 2014 ]
Probably not because you need to have a 12 volt source to have the amp on this unit to operate hope this helps. [ JOHN  Dec 11, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: At this time we do not have a special where the amp wiring kit is free with the purchase of the Sound Ordnance B-8P Single 8" Powered Bandpass box. We do, as of this writing happen to have one of those in our Outlet Open box inventory for $107.99 which would save you a few bucks and you still get the full warranty. You can learn more about our Outlet inventory here: http://www.crutchfield.com/app/product/outlet/outletfaq.aspx For that subwoofer, you will need a 10 gauge wiring kit. For your convenience, I have created a cart with the box, wiring kit, and a few other accessories you may find helpful. You can view that cart here: http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc111/app/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=1128039 If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Yes it would. I put mine in a 2011 Malibu LTZ and it sounds good for what you are paying for. With the seats down it sounds way better. Is it a 600w-12" monster? No. Does it hit a little and make the sound more full (and vibrate my rearview a bit!) YES. I like it as an entry level, plug n play, nothin crazy combo. Hope this helps. [ CRAIG  Apr 24, 2014 ]
It works well sounds good but mine only worked for a day and then it quit working. Sounded good while it did though. [ DAVID M  Apr 23, 2014 ]
At the same set up in a 2004 Honda Civic sounds are clear clean and pure even down the highway [ JEFFREY  Apr 23, 2014 ]
Best bang for the buck on these bp 8's. You won't get ground rattling lows like with 12's but well worth the money. I liked it so much I now have two in the trunk of my challenger. You can feel and hear the bass with the back seats up. Lights are nice also for when I take her to the car shows. I listen to rock and country mostly and these are ideal for that genre. Joshua, I bought this sub to get a little extra sound out of my stereo and it is in the small trunk of a 1979 Camaro Z28 and it fits, there is not alot of room in this trunk but it does fit. This Powered sub sounds great and does pack a nice punch for 80 watts. If you are looking for ground pounding sound this is not the unit for you, however if you are looking to enhance the sound and want a deeper bass this is the right unit it really does have deep pounding bass. This powered sub is mated to a Kenwood in dash CD player and Kenwood 6X9 threeway speakers in the back deck and 2 4 " two way speakers in the dash and it sound better than I expected. This would work perfectly in your car. You wont have any trouble hearing this at highway speeds even with the wind blowing like crazy. This sub is loud, deep, and clean. I would definitely recommend getting this sub! [ KAREN  Apr 22, 2014 ]
Josh, yes, this box is pretty versatile. It has decent controls for the built-in amp and it's an efficient design that produces good, loud, clean bass! Hope this helps! Michael [ MICHAEL  Apr 22, 2014 ]
It would work great with seats down. Probably not so good with seats up. [ MARK  Apr 21, 2014 ]
Plenty of bass for that. In back of my SUV (open air back) and I have the bass turned down. Hits hard! [ CRAIG  Apr 21, 2014 ]
I am running an aftermarket pioneer deck and speaker for me this answer to a great job you don't rattle my car yet I can still feel the bass on my front seat but I have it in my 96 Ford Mustang which is a small car but I think it's should be good for the Camry [ SHERMAN A  Apr 22, 2014 ]
I have one in the back of my Chevy Cruze. Plenty of bass even at highway speed. It doesn't really take up too much trunk space. Won't rattle your car apart but it does have enough power to vibrate the rear view mirror. [ MICHAEL J  Apr 22, 2014 ]
Thanks guys, this is a great help!!! [ Joshua  Apr 22, 2014 ]
It's a great sub. Sounds like it cost a lot more than it does.I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla and it's perfect. [ AMY  Apr 22, 2014 ]
I put mine in a 08 Nissan Xterra. It added just enough bass. It was not over the top, but definitely enough to hear over the mids and highs. [ MICHAEL  Apr 22, 2014 ]
I don't see why it wouldn't work. The outer coating should help prevent sliding around, and this unit will put out more than you need, but you can adjust that. Just make sure your head unit has 12V trigger connection, as this sub requires it. rock on [ DANIEL  Apr 21, 2014 ]
Josh, I think its a really nice powered sub. Youll be able to hear as it does give some THUMP ........... not like a separate amp and sup set-up ........ but enough that you can hear it and be happy. My only suggestion of caution ........ look up the dimensions carefully, maybe find a spare cardboard box and cut it up and tape together with simple masking tape .......... basically youd make a rough box to match the size. Then you'd know if you have enough room in your trunk to fit it. Its pretty big, and it didn't fit in my hatchback well......so I had to go with a smaller "more flat" version. Had I made the quick cardboard model, it would've saved me a return shipping trip. Anyways - good luck .....hope I helped ya' out! [ Garth  Apr 21, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy  Mar 26, 2014 ]  Staff
how would i connect this to a stock 2006 mazda 3 sedan radio [ Marvin  Mar 03, 2014 ]
I am using rca on both the sub and the Appradio 3. John [ JOHN  Dec 15, 2013 ]
It has both RCA line in and high level speaker inputs [ TIM  Dec 13, 2013 ]
It has both inputs, I used only the rca [ KAREN  Dec 13, 2013 ]
It definitely has RCA, that is how we hooked it up in my son's car. I don't remember if it had speaker level for sure but it seems like it did. [ DAN  Dec 12, 2013 ]
I used RCA inputs . on another note: This unit sounds surprisingly good...and Im pretty picky. [ DAVID N  Dec 12, 2013 ]
OK, maybe both now that I think about it! Sorry! [ CRAIG  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Ok, maybe both, now that I'm thinking about it! [ CRAIG  Dec 12, 2013 ]
It has both RCA and line level inputs. [ BENJAMIN  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Hi Sam, Speaker level inputs only. Sounds pretty good for what it is! Hope it helps. [ CRAIG  Dec 12, 2013 ]
I used the rca inputs directly from my head unit. worked perfectly. [ BRIAN  Dec 12, 2013 ]
I use RCA speaker inputs. [ MY  Dec 12, 2013 ]
It has both, but I used the rca inputs since I am using an aftermarket radio. I love it and it is more than loud enough in my 4 door jeep. [ CARL W  Dec 12, 2013 ]
uh rca I believe [ GRANT E  Dec 12, 2013 ]
This item has RCA line in and High Level Input connections. I have one sitting right in front of me and I am looking at the back. [ WILLIAM B  Dec 12, 2013 ]
