The Sound Ordnance B-8P powered bandpass sub comes ready to add some dynamic thump to your ride just wire it up for power and secure it in your trunk or cargo area. This rugged box houses an 8" sub that delivers plenty of firepower, thanks to its polypropylene cone, treated foam surround, and stamped steel basket. The B-8P's built-in amplifier powers the sub with 80 watts RMS for surefire response, and you can use the variable low-pass filter and phase control to tune the bass barrage for your vehicle.
The handsome bandpass enclosure features 5/8" medium-density fiberboard construction for enduring strength, while a clear acrylic window lets you see the woofer in action. Inside the chamber, four LED lights provide visual enhancement to go along with your bass. The durable black carpet cover protects the B-8P and your vehicle from nicks and scrapes. And the Sound Ordnance logo gives you the added assurance of a 3-year warranty to go with your investment.

Very easy to install. works well! doesn't blow the windows out, but gives me low bass I was looking for. Didn't want to wake up the neighbors.
5 star. For price, sound and ease of install. Very impressed with how hard the bass hits. I purchased this for my sons car. It's perfect for his needs.
Pros: Price, sound, Easley to install
Cons: None yet.
There's gotta be a 12" woofer in that box somewhere! Amazing bass that I did not expect from an 8". Incredible value and quality product.
Pros: Compact design retains trunk space while giving more than adequate punch.
Cons: I haven't found any.
This was a birthday gift for my teenage son and he absolutely loves it. He says the sound quality is as good or better than his friends with speaker/amp setups that were considerably more expensive. The install is very straight forward not to mention easier than a speaker/amp combo. In short it's inexpensive and it sounds great, what else can you ask for.
Pros: Quality, Sound , Price
Cons: Nothing yet
Incredible bass for the value! I've had larger subs in the past and spent much more money; if you're looking for some more bass, you cannot go wrong with this!
Pros: Huge bass sound from such a small 8" woofer.
This powered sub is so legit. Put it in my 97 corolla which is sorta funny but that thing bumps now. Hits low bass and highs. Cheap install was quick and simple. HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone looking for a cheap sub with a easy install.
Pros: powered strong for how small it is and for the amp
Cons: small amp isnt high wattage
This sub was a great choice for my '73 Beetle. There is not much room for speakers in the car, and this powered sub is a good size, with great performance. It fits behind the rear seat in the cargo area, where most subs will not they are too tall, or too wide, or too deep. You know, too big. This sub puts out strong performance and can hit most notes. Unless you think you are some kind of elite audiophile, this sub will please you for sure. If you are some kind of elite audiophile and insist on spending more than this sub, maybe we'd all be better off if you just gave me that extra money!
Pros: Small size for tight spaces
Its sonds great so fare and easy to wire up
This thing really surprised me. It was the perfect recommendation for my daughter's new car adio system, thanks Crutchfield!
A great addition for adding bass and depth to my car's stereo. I put this in a 1999 Subaru Forester, along with new speakers and it works great. I don't want it to rattle/break the windows, I don't want to be doing any kind of competition, I just want to know that I have bass and this works perfectly. When paired with my new Sony head unit that has a dedicated subwoofer out, and has it's own subwoofer level boost, I can set the knobs on the sub and leave it be. It really adds depth to all the music I listen to no matter the volume and has a nice thump when I want to crank it up.
Pros: Ease of install, sound quality, bang for your buck.
Cons: Has 2 pointless LED lights on it. I don't see the need for them, but that's just not my thing.
Well-built, installation is a snap, looks good, sounds great. You won't win any stereo contests, but you won't wake up the whole neighborhood either. Bass is solid, down into the tens-of-cycles range.
Pros: Build quality. Sound quality. LED lighting. Ease of installation.
I purchased this unit to go into my ford ranger extended cab. I went back and forth on reviews for this unit and the b-8ptd. I wanted some more of a full sound for all type of music I play in my truck. I am happy I purchased this unit!! This was more icing on the cake for my stereo. Good weekend project/install for me. This sub is paired with 4- 6x8 pioneers TS-G6845R and a Pioneer DEH-6910BT head unit. I would purchase this item again for my next vehicle!!
Pros: Great value and packs a nice punch for 8inch sub. Simplicity at its best!!
Cons: Needs a remote bass knob like the B-8PTD
This unit is an outstanding value for the price. It delivers a good amount of bass, but not overwhelming amounts. It's ported, so it gives the kind of bass that is good in hip-hop and electronic music. If I had one complaint, and it's hard to complain at this price point, it's that it does not seem able to hit very hard under 40hz or so. Not surprising for an 8" sub. Sometimes you'll hear in a song that one bass note is not reproduced well then the next one is slightly higher pitched and booms. This could be a problem with how I have my settings, but I don't think so.
Bought this for my son's car. He wanted some bass. This did the job nicely, price was right too.
Pros: Easy to install. Great price!
Great bass. Not too much, not too little.
Very happy with the product, sounds fantastic with a factory radio on a 2006 Impala.
Very pleased with this product. Bought for my son's birthday as a gift. We had already upgraded the factory "premium" sound system to Fosgate Prime separates in the front and coaxials in the rear. We added some 200hz bass blockers to the other speakers and then installed the Sound Ordnance B-8P. It was perfect for adding some much needed bass to the system. My son wasn't looking to wake up the neighborhood from a block away but wanted some decent bass to improve the sound in his ride. This powered sub was just the ticket! The speaker-level inputs simplified installation and the sound was easy to balance with the rest of the system. More than enough bass to fill the vehicle. Sounds great. If you're not trying to win competitions and just want some solid bass for your ride, then this is a great bang for your buck.
Pros: Compact Low price Great add-on to factory system
Cons: No remote for bass level
Way better than I ever thought an 8 inch sub would be. It's actually more than I needed. I just wanted to add a little bit of bass and this thing blows me away. I turned it to about half the power. Sounds great. Not going to rattle your car apart but definitely sufficient.
Cons: Lacks on real low bass. It is an 8 after all.
this thing is awesome
Pros: puts out quite a bit of bass more than you expect for an 8 inch sub
Cons: yea right
Good punch and small save space in every where installed . For the price you have heavy construction box. Really I do good deal. Thank You .
Pros: For the price what more you want. Excellent construct , you can control the audio crossover if your radio has the feature .
Cons: No comments needs .
Great powered Sub for a really great price. Installed this in the truck of my nieces 2006 Civic. For a small car this would be a great addition if you can mount in the trunk.
Recently I inherited a 2011 Chevy HHR, which had a decent head unit and speakers, but the bass response was definitely lacking. Since the music I listen to (blues, classic rock, etc) doesn't require thumping, I just needed a basic sub added to my system. And I didn't want to run a separate Amp just for the sub. The B-8P fit the bill perfectly. I'm getting great bass response, the power rating is perfect for my system, and my music sounds great!
Pros: The price was right, great bass response, doesn't take up much room in the cargo area, and easy install. Recommend highly!
Cons: If you listen to bumpty-bump music and want your fenders and doors to rattle, go with something bigger.
This just transformed my already good system (Boston and infinity's all around) to to a truly fulfilling system. Everything from Nat king Cole to slayer just sounds better! Its that simple, awesome product, awesome performance, happy customer. Just in the packaging alone you can tell how much the company cares about their product. Me and a friend described its output as practical bass, for performance music listening.
I installed this sub in a 2015 Honda Fit Ex that came with a 6 speaker factory setup. I also installed 2 Rockford Fosgate 6.5 coaxial speakers in my front doors. I have to admit that the install took much longer than I originally planned but a good portion of that time was my own fault. The sub, once installed correctly, is running above expectations and I'd actually forgotten how effective isobaric can be. I'm 45 years young and back in the day.... well, that's another story all together. The tech support I received from one of Crutchfields technicians "Oakley" was outstanding. I ran power from a T30 Torx bolt located at the fuse block instead of running from the battery terminal in order to save some time (my decision). I realize this isn't the best practice but I was trying to save some time and so far so good. I ran a ground wire in the hatch of the car near the sub and remote wire from the back of the factory Head unit to the sub. I also ended up running 16 gage speaker wire directly from the rear door speakers themselves to the sub, as I found splicing into the thin factory speaker wires at the bottom of the door pillars did not have enough power to drive the sub. I also found the colors of the speaker wire and polarity misleading on a couple of different sites, including what Crutchfield had on file for this car. Both rear door speaker wires were blue (positive), and pink (negative) for both doors. You can't beat a sub under $100 so don't hesitate this sub!
Pros: Price, efficiency, size, craftsmanship, perfect for filling in that low end sound in a small car.
Cons: As others have mentioned, the lack of a remote control for turning up the gains. This can only be done from the rear of the unit but that was clearly stated the descriptions so net a big deal. At this price point I can't complain.
Sounds 100 times better than i expected. If you want to add some bass to a system without spending a lot this will do great. I replaced 2 10" memphis subs with this and am not dissapointed at all. The only place this will let you down is in the lows. But it is an 8" so that is expected. But for anything other than rap music this thing is well worth the money. I do have an aftermarket deck so i have more control over it. I have a 4 door sedan and it still rattles the rearview mirror.
Pros: Best bang for the money. Takes up little space.
Great sound, power and small enough to not be in the way in my son's trunk of his car.
Pros: None so far
My armada already had a good sound but this sub kicks it up a notch. Great 8 inch sub with awesome power.
This 8" sub won't rattle your car & won't shake your windows but definitely improves the listening experience by adding ample amount of bass. I absolutely love this product. I've added this sub for my 2016 Mustang Coupe factory audio system. This doesn't take much trunk space & has bass adjusting level at the back of unit.
Pros: Crutchfield Customer Support. Let them know if you don't know what to buy and has budget constraint. They'll get the right choices for you.
Just a fantastic solution for my van. Installed a Alpine CDE 164BT head unit and Alpine type R speakers first. Something was just missing. Added the powered sub and now I have all the low-end anyone could need. Feature-rich sub-woofer and it sounds great. I think next I'll add the Alpine KTP-445A power pack and some Dynamat to the doors and my sound should be about as good as it gets for a conversion van. My B-8P has a on / off switch for the LED lighting in the bottom left corner, next to the fuse. Nice added feature I am guessing is new.
Pros: Great feature set and really good sounding powered sub at a steal of a price.
Cons: None I can think of.
I purchased this for my son as a Christmas gift and finally installed it in March. Hooked it up to the factory stereo in a 2004 Nissan Sentra. Sounds really good for the price. He is really happy with it. We used heavy duty Velcro to keep it from sliding around.
Pros: Sounds good for the price.
It Has a good punch great for a small car sounds good
Pros: Small, packs a good punch great value
Excellent price and bass.
The little eight inch sub does deliver a great sound and exactly what I was looking for. The thing delivers a great punch of bass in the cabin of my car and I always come back to Crutchfield they always have what I want at a great price. I also now have extra light to look around in my trunk for the junk at night as the sub has interior lights installed that is a great feature to have. Thank you Crutchfield.
Pros: Great Sound, size, and price.
Cons: Slides around in my trunk.
Great deal for the money.
Added the perfect amount of bottom end to my Tacoma Access Cab. Paired with Polk DB components and a 400x4 Fosgate amp. Sounds perfect!
Great added sound at this price point. Strong sub base sound. Very Easy installation. Looks great, especially the internal lighting with in the box. Not to big for a small compact car.
This sub sounds like so much more than a single 8 inch sub! I was completely surprised by the output and quality of this amazingly priced sub package!
Pros: Very easy install, great sound
This sub does what it's supposed to and more! This thing pounds and sounds great! If your looking to add bass but don't want 2 12's, this thing will do justice. It looks great as well.
Pros: -Easy installation -Sounds great -Visually satisfying -Small
Does exactly what its supposed to
Excellent Value for the Money. Built well and looks nice without being over the top. Bought Jensen 6X9's and a Pioneer Amp from Crutchfield and needed a bit more bass in my Buick. I have the Sub's level control set to 50% and it does a super nice job filling in the lower frequencies. 100 bucks with free shipping makes me feel like I stole it. THANKS
Pros: The review says it all--Excellent Value
Cons: Wish it had a separate level control so I could adjust it from the driver's seat
Excellent Product. The bass is awesome and sounds like you have a 12inch in the trunk. I hooked mine up in my G37 and I love it.. Highly recommended.
Bass quality is surprisingly good. I have the gain turned up to just a little less than 3/4. Using it in a 2011 2 door altima with stock head unit, bass set at "0" and the sub sometimes drowns door speakers (aftermarket ) level remote would have been a nice option even if it was offered as an accessory. In my opinion, enough to feel the bass inside, but don't expect to shake house windows or set off car alarms. Over all, well worth the money. Would recommend if you just want to add a little extra to your system.
Pros: Small, ported, stylish and economical
Cons: No remote level option
Great product for the price! I have a 2001 Mustang as my daily driver, and it has the dreaded Mach 460 system (the speakers are 8 ohms so not compatible with replacement 4ohms speakers - in order to replace them you would have to bypass the factory amps and perhaps get a replacement amp). I replaced the head unit a few years back which helped, but wow - adding this sub accented my current system so much so that I now don't feel that I need to replace the components - at least for now. Don't have super high expectations for a self-powered woofer, and you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for something that adds a little punch without spending a fortune (and a lot of time installing) - this fits the bill!
Each time someone sits in my car they think I have a 12 inch. With that said for this size and this price you cannkt find a better deal with lows like this.
Amazing sound from this product. Absolutely love it for the cost!
Pros: Cost, look and installation
Cons: Make sure you order everything you need to install. Ordered the kit that was told that I needed for install, but no audio cables included?
This 8" sub bumps like crazy! I ordered for my daughters boyfriend and the install was simple and painless! Now his buddies want the "Old Man" to put some thump in their rides!
Pros: Well put together compact tuned to deliver great bass easy to follow instructions
Cons: Should include Velcro for the bottom
You can never go wrong with Crutchfield . An amazing price and a quality product. Very impressive power and punch from an 8-inch sub.
Pros: Price, easy installation. Compact
Nice Small Sub , Now I Have Junk In My Trunk!! Quality Audio . . . .
Pros: Small in size , self contained in a neat package and self powered!
Cons: I have no issues with this sub .
East to install, great sound, perfect fit in trunk!
A lot of sound from a small, convenient, and affordable package. This B-8P will not rattle your windows with neighborhood waking bass, but it definitely packs a small punch and fills in lows nicely. Installed in '03 Volkswagen GTI using Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS head unit.
Pros: Sounds great, affordable, doesn't take up much space, easily removable, sub lit by white LEDs
Cons: Lower range bass notes are very muted
This sub is an amazing deal (steal?)! Great sound and a simple install without having to worry about a separate amp. This really filled out the sound in my Impreza, and has a made a huge difference compared to the terrible stock system. Awesome performance vs. price! Also kudos to Crutchfield support for providing the correct color code of the rear speaker wires to ensure the polarity was correct. Very happy customer!
I bought this powered 8" because my Civic needed a little more kick. Wow! This thing kicks! I had to turn it down a little it rattles so much
Pros: Great bass
Worth it for the price not too big still have cargo space. Good customer service.
Put this in a 2016 regular cab ram with a Kenwood head unit. Still have the factory speakers that sound okay for now but needed a little more bass. I'm 47 so I wasn't looking for a 1000 watts. This worked really well to fill the void, with the space behind the seat it has to stay upright and not lay flat which is kind of a bummer. Overall happy with the purchase though.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Little big behind the seat
Nice little punch from a little box..
Good bass without bothering the neighbors!
Great sound from a little sub. I got my money worth
Pros: Excellent product and great bad sound.
Cons: I wish they had this set up on a 10".
Firstly, remember, this is "only" an 80 watt sub. It easily fit in the trunk of my sons '99 Mits. Galant and rattles the interior, but in a very, positive way. We also replaced the rear deck speakers with Pioneer TS-A6966R and the sound/clarity increased exponentially.
Awesome for the price
I have had many systems before and just wanted to add a little bit of sub to round out my new system. This box was easy to install and really hits when needed. It hits so hard I turned it down. Great buy for the money. If you want a lot of bass I would go up to a bigger woofer size, however if you want a little bass to round out a system this is perfect. I put it in a 2007 Honda Civic and its perfect.
Pros: Great price, perfect if you have the highs, and mids already and need a little bass. Plays my dance music, rock, and other music fine
Cons: If you like a lot of bass I would get a bigger sub woofer as this is not a ton of bass. great for small systems or for smaller cars.
Wow... This thing sounds awesome! I went in knowing that this type of enclosure gives you much more powerful sound but I am surprised that its about as good as my old Rockford 10" without the bulk and in my '08 Mustang, it fits perfectly behind the wheel well. The materials are all very nice as well from the sturdy glass window to the soft carpet and metal backplate. The only reason I couldn't give it that fifth star is because the sub was mounted in offset to where the brand text is not centered and it's very noticeable. It's a shame because it has the lighting and such. Another issue is with one of the knobs on the rear being bent but still functions as it should. Overall I'm very impressed for the price. I would definitely buy it again...
Pros: Overall build quality and sound was above expectations for this price point.
Cons: Missed the fine details.
If you want to shake the neighborhood, not for you. If you want just enough bass for yourself, look no further. I purchased this amplified sub about 7-8 years ago. She's been with me since my first 96 jeep Cherokee sport. Moved her to my dodge till the engine blew and stored her when I had my Honda. Just recently pulled her from storage and installed in my 2012 liberty and I'm glad I never got rid of her. This little powered box is the bomb. Perfect clear bass and super easy to install every time. The price is unbeatable. I will say having it in a car trunk is not as good as when it's in a truck trunk. But if you own a trunk and want some extra bass without spending a lot and easy installment, this sub kicks ass!!! After almost 8 years And 3 vehicles she kicks like the day I bought her. Definitely recommend! No head unit change required if you don't want. Just buy a high/low converter with a built in trigger and your set!
Pros: Super durable Kicks clear and perfect Good size Super easy installment Awesome price
Cons: Not as good in car trunk as truck trunk
I purchased this and installed it about 3 months ago in my Silverado extended cab with a Sony head unit with RCA outputs and built in high pass and low pass filters. This head unit puts out 15 watts RMS per channel. I have this coupled to four 5.25" speakers. I have the sound ordnance sub mounted between my front seats to replace the jump seat and it makes a great armrest as well. The performance fits perfectly with the rest of the components. Great low end fill. Performs better than I expected.
Pros: Great value
Cheap bass system, yes... not going to shake anything loose or blow grandma out of the car though :")
Pros: Cheap and easy to install...
Cons: Not going to push much bottom end around, too small and too weak for even my small bmw coupe...
Purchased this sub for use in a 1970 Mustang. The small size was important and I just wanted to improve the bass, not make the ground shake. The B-8P does exactly what I wanted. Good response in a small package.
Pros: Small size, good bass response, great price
Cons: none I've found yet.
This little box does the job. Great sound and bang for the $$$.
Pros: Compact, Sound, Durability.
Cons: None yet
Great sound, bumps like no other even in my old car!
Pros: Easy to work, there are lots of pros
Cons: Doesn't come with wires, sold separately
I love this product, worth every penny. Great sound, very clear. So awesome I love driving in my car now
nice i have it installed knstallation cost more than tje product bit so happy for the sound it produces
Pros: really really good superb sound im buying a second one for my honda crv
Cons: no cons
This thing pounds, put it in my 1500 because it has small speakers. It literally sounds like I put a whole system in my truck for this price, how could you go wrong ?! IMPRESSED !!!!
Pros: Easy hookup, 3 wires and some RCA's
This little band-pass box bangs. No, it's not a Kicker SoloBaric so you can't expect results like that. But for a discount product line it serves it's purpose. I have zero regrets purchasing this little sub after a few weeks. Maybe it won't last as long as a big name brand, only time will tell. But for the $100-ish I paid it has enough value to dollar for me. I'm not using it in any SPL contests or to out do the guy next to me with the $3k setup. I simply wanted to add just a bit of thump to a replacement system in a beater car that gets driven a lot. I paired this powered sub with a JVC media head-unit that has a 4.0v pre-amp output and there are no issues. I read some reviews where people claimed they had no increase in bass response so I was a bit nervous about the purchase but my concerns turned out to be unfounded. All I can think of is those other consumers paired this with a head-unit with a very low pre-amp voltage output and/or didn't understand how to configure gain settings at either end in addition to the other settings options.
Pros: Very good value for the price point, Inexpensive, stable installation without permanent mounting, easy 4 connection wiring, ability to enable or disable the subwoofer light, sub works well and can add a legitimate amount of bass to a system for anyone not looking to win an SPL contest.
Cons: Being an off-brand it may not last as long as name brand equipment, power and response are not that of the more expensive name brands (but again you're not paying the same price)
The bass fills the small interior of the beetle really well. For as loud as it sounds inside the car I was pleasantly surprised its not loud outside the car. I would recommend this sub for anybody that wants good bass but isn't looking to be felt in other cars while sitting at stop lights.
Pros: Can install disconnects to make the sub quick and easy to remove if the space is required for moving larger objects.
Cons: None so far.
Bought this to use as a low end filler. No disappointments whatsoever and it can really thump if asked to although I dont. I have a utility suburban so its cavernous behind the front and only seat so placement was no problem. BEWARE: Crutchfield recommends 8 g power supply wire generally on the website. This 80 watt unit is only 7.5 amps. 8 g wire kits with maxi fuses do not accept anything less than a 20 amp fuse. The 8g supply is overkill for this particular unit. 12 g with a conventional fuse holder is more than sufficient to install this unit. I now have to rewire the supply line as I do not feel comfortable using a 20 amp fuse. I would also add that Crutchfield tech support said the 20 amp fuse was ok....which it really isnt in the event of a frontal impact or anything that otherwise may short the supply or audio wiring. Great buy for more than sufficient bass.
Pros: Great value, more than sufficient low end filler.
Cons: Surprising misinformation from both the Crutchfield website and tech support.Crutchfield response on 6/15/2016 Thanks to this informative review, one of our Tech gurus, Daniel, reached out to James to let him know we have created a new amp wiring kit for applications just like this, and we've added it as an accessory to this powered Sound Ordnance subwoofer. Thank you, James.
This powered subwoofer has incredible sound of the money, and it was super easy to install.
I purchases this for my son and was not that happy with it. The sound, while clear, is not as powerful as I had hoped. I feel like it lacks hit that a subwoofer should have and served more as an expensive amplifier than a subwoofer. After having it for 5 months, we are in the process of selling it and upgrading to a more powerful and effective sub.
Pros: Small, good sound quality
Cons: Not very powerful
Heard this sub in a friend's car and thought it sounded great so I bought it for my car. I love the sound quality!!
Pros: Cost, Sound Quality
Wow, got this for the daughter's car as a Christmas gift. Was looking for something compact and not to radical since it was going in a 1999 Escort Sedan. The car was equipped with a Sony X-plode head unit and Kenwood speakers. This sub really filled the void in the bass and hits really, really well. It we were not looking for anything that rattled the car or was annoying to a nearby car in traffic. But honestly, this little powerhouse could do it with the gains settings ramped up! It is not used for that and provides a nice, compact all-in-one good looking sub. Will be purchasing another one here soon for the family car!
Pros: Sound Quality, appearance, cost.
For the money this is a great product! It was one of the cheapest powered sub woofers I could find, but it didn't disappoint. There is a very similar one available on another website, but I decided to go with Crutchfield because of their customer service and return policy. But after installing it and listening to it for a few weeks on an assortment of music, I won't be returning it. I have a Nissan Versa hatchback, and this thing fills out the lows very nicely. It does not hit the very low frequencies, unfortunately, but it will make almost all music sound better. A lot better! I thought about getting a 12" subwoofer to hit the very low frequencies better, but I didn't want to spend $80+ dollars more. I'm very happy with it...for the money. Turn the gain up and the bass becomes overwhelmingly strong!!
Pros: Cheap Loud
Cons: Very little LOW (20-40mhz) frequency response Package lists 50 watts RMS, 100 max.
Installed Sub in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with a Pioneer Deck. Sub sounds great and was easy to install.
Pros: Price and Powered so no need for amp.
Came shipped in good condition, easy setup, I have a vw gti put this in have lots of extra room, looks cool,it's plenty loud enough and don't kill ur battery, even with my car off still running strong
Pros: Cool looks, loud, sounds great, don't take much space at all
Cons: I have none
Have a 1998 jeep Cherokee works well in this vehicle. Have a kenwood head unit and Polk speakers sounds great.
Pros: Nice looking unit and easy to install. Sounds great for the money.
Installed this sub in my 2004 Nissan Frontier extended cab to round out my sound. I am very impressed. I was a bit skeptical about the band-pass enclosure but it makes all of my music sound great. From rap to pop to rock and metal. Double bass blast-beats sound just as good as the 808 drops. You're not going to wake the neighbors with this one, but it sure as heck will fill the cab of your truck or your small car with pretty clean bass for the money. Installation was a breeze and the available adjustments are nice. I'm using my head units high pass filter to keep the base out of my door speakers and pilla i'm using my head units high pass filter to keep the base out of my door speakers and The tweeters in the pillars. I have the low pass filter on the subwoofer set to 200 Hz. I love that they put an on/off switch for the LED lighting. I can't really see it anyway, but it is a nice option.
Pros: Great sound for not much $. Easy install and versatile sound.
Cons: If you're looking to wake the neighbors or get the attention of the girls in the car next to you, this isn't the sub for you.
Good quality of item. Very happy with my purcuse. Everything encluded. The help before buying was fantastic. Had no need to ask for help after buying. All was explained with no issues.
Pros: Great subwoofer sound
An awesome subwoofer that produces excellent bass for only being an 8" sub. Just finished installing it in my 1998 Honda Accord with a Pioneer radio, and I couldn't be happier with how it all came together. Highly recommended if you have a smaller car or just want a subwoofer that gives you good punch but doesn't rattle the windows.
Pros: - Great bargain for the sound quality. - Helpful pictures in the instructions for setup. - Small sub to leave space in the trunk.
Cons: - Absolutely none!
I installed this unit in my 1999 Ford Explorer2DR Sport, to compliment the new JVC stereo and speakers I had also purchased from Crutchfield. The bass from this very reasonably priced unit fills my interior, but does not rattle my body panels. I am very satisfied with the performance, quality, value and ease of installation. I would buy this subwoofer again and have already recommended it to a friend.
Pros: Ease of installation, big bass from a small unit that does not take over all your free space.
Cons: None so far.
this is a grate sub for a small truck and it has good sound qulity ilove it
Pros: is all a round a grate sub
Cons: i can,t thank of eny !!!!
Had to replace Sound Ordnance B-8PTD didnt have enough bass for my Mazda CX7. So I got this as a replacement, couldnt be happier. Way better sub. If your looking for a powered sub and u have the room, buy this sub
Pros: Big bass, easy setup, great price
This little thing packs a punch! No it isn't as window rattling as most are looking for, but I just hooked this up[ in the 99 Firebird and couldn't be happier. Just enough thump to be noticed, but not obnoxious. It may take a little time to adjust your individual settings, but all in all i couldn't be happier. Putting the other one in the suburban tomorrow.
Pros: great price, smaller size, fits most anywhere.
Cons: none at this time. for the price, you can't go wrong!
I bought this sub to add to my stock monsoon system in my 2006 Grand Prix. I got the audio signal through a line out converter. I really liked the bass that is produced but sometimes the bass seemed distorted. A couple months later, I got an aftermarket receiver for my birthday. I installed the new receiver and got rid of the line out converter and connected the sub directly to the output on the back of the receiver. All I can say is WOW!!!! The bass that is now produces is absolutely amazing!!! No more distorted bass and it sounds great!! I would recommend this sub to anyone!!
I purchased this to give some low end to the sound in my full size work van. I was very pleased with the depth in the bass. I was able to get the sound I wanted with minimal adjustments.
Pros: Great price for the sub! Great sound!
Cons: This was placed behind the passenger seat. Not a lot of wiggle room due to cage behind seat. If it was a little smaller in depth,it would allow the seat to be moved back a little more.
I don't not usually buy audio electronics online, I perfer to listen buy. But I couldn't be happier with my purchase!! The sub arrived in 2 days!!! The sound that this little monster generates is simply amazing for $119!! Solid powerful bass that is surprisingly deep and accurate. In a well made tidy package! Don't hesitate, just buy it! It's one of the best purchases I have ever made!
Pros: Deep strong bass, small size and we'll made!
Cons: None as of yet.
Great Product, Hits much harder than I ever expected it to. If your looking for a small car friendly system this would be it.
Pros: Great sound in a little package
Good sub for a good price. Hits good and doesn't drag down the car battery system.
Perfect powered sub to enhance a system.
Pros: Great size for small trucks and cars with little space.
Bought this to fill in lows on a BMW E46 4dr and save trunk space. It does the job with a great quality box... Not exactly gonna rattle the dentures out of my neighbors but sounds good. Maybe if I hook it up to an aftermarket radio it will come to life but for now I'm happy with it.
Pros: Takes up very little trunk space Good Quality box Easy to hook up Sounds good without any distortion
Cons: Packs bout as much punch as a factory sub
for an 8 inch subwoofer i wasnt expecting this much bass. it blew me away it will hit loud enough at full volume to shake the car. will recomend to anyone who wants bass but doesnt want the whole neighborhood to hear you coming
Pros: only 120$$ small box means more trunk space
Cons: none awesome product
I put the B-8P in my son's 02 Tacoma. It really sounds good and u can feel it.
This thing kicks pretty hard for an 8". Great value. High quality. Made my stock audio in my 00 accord sound great. Turned the hpf setting on my stereo on so that the regular speakers don't play bass. Sounds great after that. Very happy with my purchase
I bought this for my wifes 07 camry and she loves it! It is the heart of the system bringing it to a level of a high end stock stereo. Cant beat the price and easy to install for the diy person. I highly recommend this sub if you want a little bump in your sound stage to bring it to life. It hits pretty hard for a self powered sub. No complaints here.
It sounds really good clear and loud . I definitely will recommend to a friend
The subwoofer looks great and does add bass to your car but I was expecting a little bit more from it. But it's easy to hook up.
Pros: Looks good, fast shipping, easy set up
Cons: Bass could be a little better
Great value! Great product! Great Price! Not gonna win any sound competitions but it will provide great low end to any vehicle. Had mine installed in my wife's 2010 Versa. Sounded great with the factory stereo and not over powering the highs. 5 star review!
Pros: Great value! Great product! Great Price!
Cons: Wish they listed a 12" version lol
Stop debating about other powered sub enclosures. I dropped this bad dude in my wife's Toyota Highlander and holly crap did this thing surprise me. For it being only a 8" sub, it sounds like a 12" and the enclosure is very nice on the eyes. The illumination feature is merely just a white light that lets you see in the box, not a colored one in which I thought it may be. Anyways, instead on buying a separate amp and sub enclosure this thing made it easy. All you need to do is wire the amp kit and plug her in, presto! I will come back and upload a you tube video for everyone. The you tube videos I watched really didn't do it justice, but they did help a little. The quality sound it produces for under $150 is outstanding. This will make any music super fun to listen to for fractions of the price. That is all, I'm going outside to go sit in the car and jam out.
Pros: Sound Quality; Price tag; Small in size, not in sound
Cons: I would have preferred a side mounted amp connection vs. rear input
Love the product, works great and for a great price. Delivers a deep bass without distorting sound. Only problem with it is that the directions for tuning the sub are difficult.
Pros: Great sound, good price
Cons: Tuning, can get a cheaper wiring kit online
I installed four new polk speakers and a Pioneer receiver to replace the stock system on my 13 silverado crew cab. I waited with the sub install because I forgot to order the wiring kit for it. The polk speakers sounded awesome, good all around sound. Clear and sharp. Then I added the subwoofer and holy smokes! This thing adds a whole new dimension. Adjustability is great. Classical music sound heavenly and Metallica rocks out!
Pros: Sound, ease of install, sound.
Cons: Size. Does not really fit my truck, but I sacrifice a bit of rear seat for great sound!
Bought one of these three years ago for another vehicle and sold it when I sold the car. Just bought another one - the Sound Ordnance B-8P - for my 2012 Civic and love it all over again. This time I am using with high-level inputs from the rear speakers and the low end is excellent. Really completed my factory sound system. install took about 30 minutes. Love it once I got all the levels and settings all tuned. Excellent!
Pros: Price, fit and finish, value, LED lighting
Cons: Not a single one
For the price I cant imagine a bigger improvement in my trucks sound. It was a straightforward installation. Not easy, not too hard. It took me about four hours. I was disappointed was I first fired it up. Then I started to play with the sound controls. When I got the crossover set right it opened up the sound. I think it took over the lows that my six inch speakers were having trouble making. All in all a great buy.
I cannot believe anyone would give this product anything lass than 5 stars, I have owned JL audio, Rockford Fosgate, MTX, and Kenwood sound systems, that were all fantastic, the reason I tried out sound ordinance out was because of the great reviews that people left. My kedwood system was stolen out of my car and I didnt want to go to the expense of replacing everything, so I put a sony xplode stereo in and this Sound Ordinance powered sub in, I figured for the bucks I paid for the sub was well worth it, I already had the wiring that was the only thing that survived the theft. I have always has a stereo system of some sort in every vehicle that I have ever owned. I was completely surprised by the bump I got out of this 8" sub. I have it in the trunk of my 2000 ford escort and it sounds amazing.
Pros: Price, sound, and great quality
Cons: none what so ever
It was okay, built solid, easy to hook up. I wished it had a remote for the volume level. The bottom line for me is that it could not surpass the bass from my door and rear deck speakers. It was about equal. So I am returning it. If you have very little bass in your system currently, this would be an affordable improvement. If you have large door speakers and 6x9 deck speakers like me, it might not be able to really add to that. Probably need a 12 and 150+ watts.
Pros: Solid, high quality construction. Attractive
Cons: Its still an 8" sub. Which for some people, will not be enough.
Good little sub to fill in the lows. This is not the sub that rattles your windows and pounds your chest but it gives your sound system the bass that is lacking from the door speakers.
Pros: Well constructed, solid and provides adequate bass. Compact.
Cons: The plexiglass look makes it gimmicky, I guess it appeals to the younger crowed. The 8 inch sub does not provide the boom that you maybe looking for. Should provide better documentation in tuning the sub
This is a good & powerful little subwoofer set-up. Perfect for an add-on. Had other kids at my daughter's school ask if I wld install one in their cars. Also had a tint shop guys ask about it so he cld order one
Pros: Easy hook up, sounds great
So far so good. This was purchased to fill in the lows for a new setup in Saturn outlook. Definitely not put in to shake the mirrors off the car, for filling in the music and adding the punch and fill the 6 1/2 door speakers can't handle cleanly, it performs very well. Having the amp internal makes removal when I need the cargo space a breeze!
Pros: All in one design makes removal when I need space easy. Fills in music very nicely and price is reasonable
Cons: So far is doing exactly what I bought it for so closes to a con I have is my teens want enough base to blow the windows out.....an 8 won't do that.
Nice speaker for how small it is!
Pros: Hits really good highs. The speaker is only an 8 but dont let the size of the speaker fool you!
Cons: Doesnt hit lows, but i didnt expect it because its only an 8".
This sub woofer and amp combo is a beast, and as everyone has said delivers solid bass. I am a teenager and I think this is fully sufficient for the bass heavy music these days. You will definitely feel that vibration, but without it vibrating your entire car, which I think is ridiculous. Also, if you do want it to shake your whole car,,, you're going to have to increase your price range a couple hundred dollars. Also note that you cannot expect to install this yourself in a quick period of time unless you are experienced with car stereo systems. I have never done anything with stereo systems, and I decided to fully re-do my '96 Jeep Cherokee's. I got this sub, 2 new Kicker speakers, and a Clarion head unit. All of these took me a total of about 10 or 11 hours to install, but in my opinion, is totally worth saving the money for somebody to install it. So what I'm trying to say is, you will run into problems, blowing fuses, missing wires, missing tools, etc. so just know you're in for a ride installing this and possibly a whole new stereo system, but I found it fun and so satisfying at the end when you get that feeling of "I FINALLY finished". Would totally recommend, even though it is somewhat a hassle to install.
Pros: Great bass Great price (you won't find a better deal for a sub and an amp) Don't have to buy or install a separate sub and amp Looks nice
Cons: Takes a while to install If you want a crazy sub that shakes your entire car, this isn't the one for you
Installed in my 1998 camry. I hav a 9month old son so I need to fit a stroller into the trunk. I didn't want to get this Sub because I was scared nothing was gonna fit. But when it came in and I installed it, I had plenty of space in my trunk for groceries and the stroller. The sound coming out of my trunk is amazing! Raddls the back when I want it to. Sounds perfect and add plenty of bass to my car. Sounds nice and clear and not messy at all. Very happy with the price and sound of the sub and it was a perfect price for me.
Pros: Loud Doesn't take up too much room Good bass Is stroller proof Heavy duty Built to last Amazing sound Perfect for small trunks
Cons: None so far!
5 Stars All The Way! I did a lot of research before coming upon the 8-BP. Bottom line...This purchase was excellent! A sturdy, well made, powered sub! You could not build a box of this quality and sound for the purchase price. Rich bass, high and low. I have two 6x9 Pioneers and the 8-BP in my Nissan Frontier and the sound is fantastic!
Pros: Sturdy, well built enclosure. Powered! Ready to go, out of the box!
This is a great addition to my car system it is just what it needed just a little but powerful subwoofer for a great price.
Pros: Great for the price and plenty of power for the plus 50 crowd
Excellent build quality, good controls, looks really nice too. The bass is def solid inside the vehicle, but dont expect it to shake the neighbors windows! Install was done on 2013 JKUR wrangler using an audio control LC2i since the stock "top of the line" Jeep radio has no preamp outputs and totally rolls off bass and volume when cranked up! Def a huge improvement over the OEM subwoofer (which is a total joke).
Pros: Quality build, good sound, small footprint
Cons: None to speak of
For the money spent I am very satisfied with the Sound Ordnance 8" powered sub. It's exactly what I needed to fill in the void in my system. This sub will not blow out any windows but the sound is great, powerful and more than I would expect for the size and retail. Hook up was a breeze since it was an "all in one" system. I was surprised how many more negative reviews or unhappy reviews there were on much more expensive powered subs.
Pros: wallet friendly, easy to hook up, great bass production, sub box looks good and appears to be well built
Cons: No owners manual or directions on installation and suggested crossover settings. The sub box takes up allot of room. All in all many more pro's than con's!
For the price you would be hard pressed to find a better Sub for the money or even twice the amount. Great product and service.
Pros: Kicks butt!
This subwoofer is actually a Dual SBP8A powered subwoofer which is available through alternative competitive retailers.
Pros: Easy installation. Good sonics.
Cons: The price is rather steep compared to competitive listings.
Easy hook up, low power draw, and good low frequency sound from a very small space. This sub requires a little experimenting with placement for the best sound. Turned one way its barely noticable, faced the other way it sounds like two eights in a sealed box with more than 80watts rms. I got an open box model at a discount and couldnt tell it had ever been opened at all. Would recommend
Pros: Cheap small good sound seems high quality
Was looking for something to fill in the low end of my system ( pioneer head unit and polk db speakers ), I was a little worried that it wouldn't be enough to do the job in the trunk of my 2012 malibu., but after reading many reviews and talking to rusty at Crutchfield, I decided to try it and was very happily surprised, it was easy to install since I had an infinity bass link before and it doesn't take much trunk space, now I can turn my stereo up very high and everything is very clear, I was also happy with the long warranty and low price. Depending on what you want, personally I don't think you can go wrong with this sub. Thanks again Crutchfield!
Pros: Very good sound from such a small sub, space saving and budget friendly
Cons: None yet
This has got to b the best sub I've ever had!!! Definitely all the bang for the buck.
These things are great! I put one in my wife's car ('97 4Runner) along with a set of Kenwood separates in the front doors. The sound difference is amazing. The new speakers in the door work for the highs and mids, and the sub just rounds out the sound. I can't believe what I have been missing all these years. Bass makes music that much more enjoyable. My kid was so impressed with the sub that I got him one for his 18th birthday. He has Sound Ordnance 6 1/2" speakers in the front and rear of his '96 Jeep Cherokee and it sounded good before but now it sounds really good with this sub. I highly recommend this sub, its is a great bang for the buck. It is fairly easy to dial in and it sounds good. For that matter, the Sound Ordnance 6 1/2" speakers sound great as well. I was told by the salesman that these are Crutchfield's house brand car audio speakers. If you are looking for a decent speaker for a good price, I would not hesitate to buy a Sound Ordnance product, especially this sub.
Pros: good bass, good price, built in amp with plenty of power.
Cons: not that compact, but not huge either
2012 Honda Civic "Premium" sound system didn't sound quite so premium so I'd replaced stock speakers with Kicker 6.5" 2-way (41DSC654) which was a great improvement in sound quality, but still lacking any low-end oomph. The stock shelf mounted sub really didn't add much to speak of so that was the next upgrade. Due to space restrictions I decided to forgo replacing the stock shelf mounted sub in favor of locating the B-8P self powered enclosed sub in the trunk. For the signal I connected the existing sub high level (1-channel) to one channel on the B-8P (not sure if that's the right way to do it or not, can't get a clear answer out of Crutchfield on that). This sub is exactly what I was looking for. Provides the perfect amount of low frequency boost (even at low volumes) and the small enclosure fits nicely in the trunk area without taking up too much room. It's not going to blow the doors off but it definitely adds the low frequencies that I was totally missing before. Product quality is top notch, good solid construction and easy to use controls. The clear window seems strong and should stand up to the rigors of living in the cargo area. I don't have any feelings pro or con about the clear window or the led lighting since I don't spend much time in the trunk while driving. If you're looking for a great low cost and easy to install sub, can't go wrong with this one. Big sound for such a small box that's easy on the wallet. I would highly recommend.
Pros: Big sound, small enclosure, wallet pleasing price, high quality construction, attractive design, easy to use.
Cons: A bit vague on installation instructions (can't believe I'm the first person to try and connect this to an existing 1-channel sub high level input). Their recommendation was to connect to the L & R speakers, but I would lose the dedicated sub volume control on the head unit, so I don't want to go that way. They also suggested splitting the single sub to low level and then use a splitter, but not sure if that's (a) necessary or (b) if it will improve performance. Still confused on that.
Great purchase for the price. Hook this up correctly and hear the bass you have been missing from your interior speakers. Small size makes it take up the footing close to an average paper grocery bag. I definitely got what I paid for and more in this little unit. Clean, clear bass comes from this little box.
Pros: small in size, clear bass.
I installed this in the trunk of my 1995 honda accord, and wow was I impressed. Definitely did not expect a 80w rms sub to perform like that. I was looking for a lower powered sub because my car's alternator is too old for a high powered one, but you would think this thing is high powered. It's not going to rattle the car next to you, but it will make your seat vibrate and the windows shake. My mom could even hear in the house at a low volume when I first put it in. This was my first time installing a sub and the installation process went smoothly. Great buy and would recommend it for anyone on a budget.
Pros: Great value Louder than expected Good sound
Cons: Can't think of any
If you under 25 or maybe even 30 you probably need to look at a different sub-woofer. Although this sub is MORE than capable of making the rear view mirror vibrate and sometimes I'm surprised just how powerful it really is, it will not deliver the destructive force which most younger customers are usually looking for. But if you've had enough birthday's and put a few notches in the maturity belt AND appreciate some serious bass to round out your car tunes for a low price then this is the one for you. I am NO expert is Sub-Woofers. However, I know enough about music and have enough of an ear to appreciate good sound. This sub will fill in those low notes that interior speakers just cannot produce and will do it at a low price without sacrificing a large amount of trunk space either. It's actually a rather nice looking device as well. Is it THE best out there, I doubt it. But for the price and when you've got bills to pay this one does nicely! I highly recommend this sub for those on a tight budget and who simply want to fill in those lower frequencies that can only be produced with a sub-woofer. This Sub turns my 45 - 60 minute commute into a 15 minute "Hey, I home already and I still need to finish my tune" ride. Nice job Sound Ordnance!
Pros: Low Price Built-in Amp Relatively simple to install due to built-in Amp Sufficient power and bass response for most music Good Looks On / off switch for the decorative LED's Sounds fine!
Cons: Won't shatter the glass in the car in the next lane over.
This sub is very easy to install and has a surprising amount of bass. It won't shake the guys car next to you, but it will fill out the lower end of your audio system.
Pros: Cheap, build quality, bass
OMG, i definitely wasn't expecting a 160w sub to hit like this! I've had sound setups in the past, and I didn't like how much of my trunk was left after. So my 27th birthday was approaching and since my latest car was already wired for an amp I figured I'd get something for my birthday. I was leaving towards a bazooka tube, but then I stumbled across this thing for even less money and looks way better. After reading so many great reviews I had to check it out. Hooked it up today, and MAN! You'd never think it was an 8" sub.. Love this setup and the fact that it's an all in one deal..
Pros: Hits great, looks great, awesome price.
Cons: No cons really, but it's heavier than I expected.
Installed in my sons hatch. Awesome. Do not hesitate
Great performance for the price!!!
This sub hits much harder than I ever expected. I wanted something to just round out the overall sound in my car and this sub did an awesome job of just that. At high volumes it does start to drop off, most noticeably with bass heavy music. I bought this after previously running a 600 watt rms 12inch. So I knew it was never going to have bass as deep as I was used too, however I have been thoroughly surprised by how powerful this 8 inch hits in this nicely tuned enclosure.
I went along with this purchase after reading a lot of the reviews. I will admit that I was worried about it filling out my car through the trunk (I drive a Civic LXS 2009) but I was immediately WOWed once I got things up and running and set correctly. I have 4 polk DXi651s speakers and only 4 RCA inputs on my head unit. I plan to use a splitter to run the 4 speakers to the "Front" connection and then keep the SW on the "Rear/SW" RCA ports. So as of right now, I have the front speakers going and this monster in the trunk... I mean seriously, it's an 8 inch sub and 80 watts blah blah blah but this thing will envelope you in warm clean present bass that sounds like an absolute thunderstorm (if you want it to) and compliments the system marvelously. It's loud inside and really not obnoxious outside of the car with the windows down and doors closed. At only 120$, you would be silly to not get this if you're simply looking for something relatively compact with a lot of balls and nice features. Get excited and get one. Also, I haven't Velcro'd it down yet or anything... The carpet exterior hold nicely to the trunk floor and this thing has some weight to it, so don't let the pictures fool you. Measure out the dimensions with a measuring tape or something to get a true idea of what it is.
Pros: The bass slams for it's size and power. Very well built product. Doesn't make my hair shake or rib-cage crack (which I appreciate).
Cons: I didn't get this way back when I replaced my stock door and rear speakers
I purchased this for a 1971 VW Beetle so space was an issue. This unit fits perfectly in the space behind the rear seat and completes the sound system very well. It is connected to an Alpine CDA 9884 and runs with 4 cheapo Pyle 5.25 speakers. Sounds great.
Pros: Good punch. The lights are a nice touch.
Cons: For the price, nothing. An optional remote adjustment would be nice though.
After reading so many positive reviews I figured why not give this sub a shot. I wasn't looking for a big boom sound. All I wanted was to round off the low end which this powered sub delivered perfectly. Plenty of power when you want it.
Pros: Compact box that doesn't take up much space. Plenty of power with just 80 watts. THE PRICE!
I was looking for something small and self-powered to augment my system (Sienna van.) When I was in my 20s I used to roll with 2x 12" sealed then later settled down with a 10" bandpass. I'm not looking for SPL anymore, but I wanted something that will round out the rest of the system nicely. Have an upgraded head unit and speakers but was missing some bottom end. Was about to order a Bazooka 8" and I came across this B-8P system. I must say that I was surprised at how compact it is. And it puts out clean sound. It's not going to shake the next car over, and I wouldn't recommend it for someone that's using externally amplified main speakers. But add it to a stock setup or a lower powered setup, it adds good bottom end and reduces distortion in your main speakers since they're not being asked to put out frequencies below 120Hz. Oh and free UPS shipping to Hawaii? Crutchfield rocks!
Pros: Clean sound from a compact unit. Very inexpensive. Free shipping to Hawaii!
Cons: If I have to be picky, the blue power LED is too bright so I put a piece of electrical tape over it. I can also see this being underpowered for a sedan if it's sitting in the trunk. Works well in something open like a wagon, hatchback or van.
After installing this, I can definitely see the value proposition that people here rave about. I was concerned, like many others, about what a single 8" sub could really do in a reasonably large vehicle like my Nissan Pathfinder. Those concerns are a thing of the past now, I'm super happy with my "bargain basement" powered sub and will keep it for the long term. If you're familiar with the differences between a sealed box and a bandpass box, this will produce typical bandpass bass. It's not quite as "tight" as you'd expect from a sealed box, but that's not a major deal when you're simply seeking filling out the overall sound. This thing certainly provides enough thunder for my needs, I can feel it and it gives me the satisfaction of a reasonably hard hitting system. I still can't believe the price, though...value-wise, I think you could spend a lot more and get a lot worse. When I first lit the thing up, I had to ask myself...is this thing on? I was underwhelmed...so I started looking at how my new deck was set up. Sub output on? Check. Sub gains? Eh maybe needs a little more. Bass gains? Maybe let's give it even a bit more. I think next song up on the radio was a bit of old school AC/DC...it was but a moment before I found myself immersed in the sound, the kick drums hitting me like a sledge hammer. I totally forgot I was tuning the radio and just became lost in the music with me grinning ear to ear over the quality of my sub-$300 system. Good value sub!
Pros: Great value proposition Strong enough for a decent sized vehicle Good size LED can be tuned on/off Enough power to run the sub Integrated LPF & Phase settings Easy to read hookups Quality connections Free shipping
Cons: Bandpass bass - not as tight as sealed boxes Not much else, really
It's been 2 years since I bought this sub and I am still amazed at how great it sounds. The built in amp has held up great. The sub has had no issues. I love watching people look around when I pull up behind them and they try to figure out why their car is vibrating. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Pros: Great price. Excellent sound.
This was my first sub so I didn't really know what exactly to look for. When I asked the lady on here she told me this would have enough power for my little car but it really didn't. I was never satisfied. I would turn the power up but it never performed to my liking. Then one day it all of a sudden didn't really work anymore and I couldnt figure it out!! I asked 3 of my friends and no one knew. So I sent it back and have dreams of a real sub one day.
Pros: small, confusing to others
Cons: everything else
The S/O B-8P is an excellent value. Why might you ask? It's an all in one unit priced under $120 that can deliver more than adequate bass to any vehicle. Sturdy enclosure that is stroller proof. If you don't know what stroller proof is, you don't pack and unpack a giant stroller for your kids on a daily basis. As most people can relate, I updated the entire sound system and was missing bass. Since I have a wife and 2 kids, I don't have a huge budget for car audio so I was limited on my choices. Not to worry, Crutchfield had my back with the B-8P. Quick shipping, quick install, quick test, quick tune, quick smile from my wife as if I was the 17 year old with two Rockford Fosgate 15"s she fell in love with. I'm mid 30's but still a kid at heart by the way. Country, Rock, Rap, Kids Bop, it doesn't matter cause it all sounds good with this sub. I'm sure this unit has its limitations, but I will never come close to needing to meet them with my listening habits. Dads typically act rather stupid when they hang out together, so yeah, now we are blasting that old school rap, rock, etc and we really don't care how dorky we look. And yes, the previous reviewers are right about people thinking you have a set of 10's or something similar dropping that bass they are hearing. They are always surprised to see the meager little box setting in the cargo area. You can turn the lights off inside this box which is a great idea, because lights are the one feature I didn't need.
Pros: Value, Value, Value. Bass, Bass, Bass. It doesn't rattle my ride, but fills it with sound.
Cons: No cons here. This thing is perfect for the decerning dad on a budget.
I needed a powered sub to fill in the lows. Knowing I don't need two 12's to blow out my auto body panels, this fit the bill. Clear, punchy lows without the brain rattle to round out the sound. Now, the four 6.5 speakers can concentrate on anything over 100hz, which is where I have my HPF set. Clarity is more important to me than pure SPL.
Pros: Just what I needed to fill in the lows.
Cons: Took up a little more space than I thought for an 8 inch box. I have the Infinity Basslink in another car which has a smaller footprint.
Excellent subwoofer for the size. Very crisp bass without the annoying rattling of everything in the car. Perfect for all the live music I listen to.
Pros: Crisp sound. Deep bass
Cons: None for an 8" sub
For around a c-note you can have some real bass that will blow away the factory stuff.
Pros: Great bang for you buck!
So i bought this 2 years ago and i absolutely love it. For a small sub this thing packs a nice clean sound. I always have my music up to the max and the dials on the sub. Its lasted this long an going strong.
Pros: Great Sound, Compact, Minimal power, Easy to install.
Cons: Honestly none.
Great addition. Just enough bass to really hear the kick drums.
Pros: Fast and easy hookup. No brained.
First, let's just say I am 100% happy with this. More details on that further down in my review. But let me qualify something first: Up until 10 years ago I did a lot of freelance work building tuned/ported boxes, usually using JL Audio subs and amps, or Kicker. One of my designs set a local record for bass output, using JL Audio 12W0's and a ported box with a firsr-gen JL monoblock amp, and hit 149 db with only two subs that had no business being that loud. That said, I always took pride in the quality of my work, and the quality and clarity of the sound. That being said, I knew this powered sub wouldn't be pavement-cracking in terms of sheer power, but after reading so many positive reviews, I had to give it a shake for under a hundred bucks. Never heard of Sound Ordnance before, but what the heck. So this arrived the other day, and today I installed it in the trunk of my daily driver. I also just installed a new Kenwood head unit and door/panel speakers as well, and was looking forward to some extra lows. The result of this sub install? Worth every penny. For a low-power 8" sub, this thing is efficient. Great lows. Bandpass boxes can be really teicky to tune dimensionally, but this thing is solid, and well-balanced I might add. You can actually feel it, and the sound quality is perfect for any factory or aftermarket setup that is looking for deep bass with excellent clarity, without breaking windows. Build quality is great. Awesome value, period.
Pros: Great sound quality, can actually feel the lows, solid build quality.
I was quite suprised at the amount of bass this tiny subwoofer enclosure produces with a variety of music like rock/metal/techno/dance/rap! I installed the sub in the trunk of a small coupe car and it actually hits pretty hard with the rear folding seats upright (closing off the trunk) and it sounds even better with one or two seats down (exposing the trunk). The small footprint of the enclosure worked out well because my trunk space is valuable for lugging groceries and sports equipment. I like the plexiglass window that covers the subwoofer so I can toss stuff in the trunk without worrying about puncturing the speaker. After reading through hundreds of reviews on this product I decided to take a chance and it was well worth the investment. The subwoofer is shipped double boxed so it arrived safely even with a rough shipping courier like UPS! Two thumbs up!
Pros: Punchy Bass, Bass You Can Feel, Sounds Great, Small Footprint, Inexpensive
Cons: No Wiring Kit Included, Makes Neighbors Angry
First let me start off by thanking Cructhfield's awesome customer team and tech team, they are #1. I've had 8" subs in trucks and a few kicker subs in a couple of my past vehicles and I don't think I have installed a Sub with as much ease as this one. I put in my Accord coupe and I still can't believe the amount of bass that this subwoofer is pushing out. It is not 2 12" subs or a 12" sub for that matter, but I am extremely impressed with the quality, look and feel of the subwoofer. If you are like me and are not looking to blow your ears out andjust want a nice decent aamount of bass, look no further.
Pros: Quality build, great bass and price is incredible.
Cons: Wish it had a bass remote.
Installed today and my neighbor asked if I could turn it down because her house was shaking, no bull I was astonished that it was an 8 in. Still couldn't believe my neighbor said her house was shaking she's almost across the street from me!
Pros: Hits decently hard and fits perfect for my Aveo hatchback
Cons: I need to figure out how to get the remote switch working
I just got this product today and installed it immediately. Installation was very straight forward; they even have a video on this sub's page on how to install it. It took me about 3 hours start to finish, but then again, I'm very particular about aesthetics and how wires are routed so it probably took me a bit longer than it should have. As soon as I hooked the battery back up and powered the sub up to 50%, I could tell a HUGE difference. I got this to even out the low ends in my system and it does that better than I could have possibly hoped. I'm running an Alpine UTE-52BT head unit, 2 JBL 6.5" speakers in the doors, and 2 JBL 6x9 speakers in the back. The mid's and highs were already amazing with my speakers, but were definitely missing that lower range response. I read all the reviews on this subwoofer and decided to give it a shot because hey, it's wasn't expensive. The only thing I had to buy on top of that was the amp wiring kit which added a few extra bucks. I honestly cannot believe how powerful this thing is. For only being 80 watts continuous, this thing has a very, very surprising amount of thump to it. It's not completely overwhelming, but honestly, it's probably more than I need. And that's coming from someone who listens to a good amount of electronica and metal. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first because Sound Ordnance has a fairly cheesy military theme (it even came with fake dog tags) but boy was I wrong. I highly recommend this sub.
Pros: powerful cheap sounds great
Cons: kind of big (but from what I read, bandpass boxes usually are) doesn't come with anything for fastening it to a surface very bright blue LED power light
bought this as a present to myself for christmas and installed it myself a week later. i have it all tuned and it works perfectly! i needed a small sub to round out some three way speakers in my dodge dakota and this does the trick. i listen to mostly rap and dance. its boomy and loud
Pros: loud, small, cheap, easily installed, quality, visually appealing
Cons: not super tight bass (dont care because I'm going for volume not crispness)
I think it turned out awesome ,the sound is great for the price and the size was favorable to what I needed.
Pros: Great price for the punch...
Cons: I would love if the lights pulsed to the beat...
I can't say enough about how easy Crutchfield makes it to install the products they sell. Instructions are easy to follow. Sub Woofer produces great sound for the price.
Pros: Great sound and price!
Price vs Bass produced is definitely worth it. Finding an amp and sub for this cheap is impossible. The thump is noticeable but nothing crazy. I have had vehicles with 2 10" bandpass, and 2 12" ported, and this comes no where near that amount of kick. However, it is worth the 100 dollars if you want something small you can toss in your vehicle to add some bass. Hits some pretty decent lows.`
Pros: Adds Thump, cheap price, worth the money
Cons: big for an 8", not nearly as powerful as 2 12" like others say
Wanted something small and affordable for my eclipse to liven up the sound some. I installed this and was blown away, it hits harder than i thought it would. Definitely recommend this to people who have a hatchback, suv or a truck that it will fit in. Way better than i thought it would be. Also if it helps, im running a jvc headunit with subwoofer preouts that has a built in subwoofer controller. I have sony 6 1/2 3 ways all around.
Pros: Sounds awesome for an 8" subwoofer. The bass plays low and clear.
Cons: Probably would not sound as good in a trunk styled car unless you fold the seat down.
Added it to my wife's 2010 Ford fusion and I was surprised by the fullness of bass it produces, no distortion.
Pros: Good sound,easy to install
Cons: Only 80 watts
Just like everyone else stated, if you want competition window rattling police chasing you sound then this isn't your choice. This little guy definitely puts out more bass than i thought though. I have it in a hatchback so im sure it's louder than in a trunk but i love it. Just what i needed to compliment my kicker highs in the doors. Can't beat the minimal space it takes up too!
Pros: Compact size Low price Crisp sound Good looks
Perfect for my 2 door coupe. It makes very clear bass for all the rock and little bit of hip hop that I listen too, and it is not overwhelming at high volume. Great sound, price, and easy to install with the kit from Crutchfield that came with it.
As a dad, I wanted a solid system but not the BOOM you get with larger systems. I tried a Kenwood underseet sub and was very disappointed. So I ordered this one and was AMAZED. Not only is it full, no distortion, and has deep low end I wanted. But I can also bump it up to feel like my younger bass head self. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: Loud, deep, low end, no distortion.
I really couldn't ask for more in a sub. I'm a first time installer and it took me maybe 1 hour to put this in my car. A big chunk of that time was just finding where I could rout the power wire through the firewall. It gives off more than enough bass. It has about 9 levels I believe and 3 is enough for me. I'm an 18 yo guy and I listen to mostly rock and alternative. My friends have connected their phones with hip hop and rap and it still sounds great. If you want bass then this will work. If you want thunder I'm not so sure
Pros: Sounds spectacular
Cons: Non as of now
Put this sub in my jeep for some added bass. Completely blown away
Pros: Unbelieveable bass for an 8 inch sub
As a dad, I wanted a solid system with bit not the BOOM You get with larger systems. I tried a kenwood underwear sub was very disappointed. So I ordered this one and was AMAZED. Not only is it full, no distortion, and deep low end I wanted. But I can also bump it up to feel like my younger bass head self. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: Loud, deep, low end, no distortion.
Cons: Big. But not too big. Fits snug in the way back compartment of my Lincoln Aviator.
I drive a little toyota and this lets my neighbors know i'm driving. Very good sub!!!
Cons: Nothing. Just the perfect size for my car...
I wanted to add a little bass in my d21 kingcab. The two 4x6"s & the two 6.5"s(30rms) I have just don't thump. So at less than a foot cubed and $120 I was sold. Was a bit worried about it being an 8" sub and running only 80w rms. Ended up being perfect for my set up. Hits harder and lower than I expected.
Pros: Compact Package, Hits Hard an Low, Cheap
Cons: No thump thump boom to announce your imminent arrival.
Overall a great powered sub! Im a firm believer in you get what you pay for. For the price, what more can you ask for. Powerful sound to give your stock system the bass it lacks, the extra bass you were looking to add, but do not want an over powering "bump". This deserves a 5 star all around. Built well, easy to wire, sounds great.
Pros: Easy to wire, amp Is built right in! At 80 watts its not a strain on the electrical system, even after long bass runs, and hard repetitive hits. Very user friendly setting to get the bass sound best for you.
Cons: Well I will start with the led lights, they are a little over the top. No worries there is a switch on the unit to shut them off. Produces great in the box, but personally not a fan of the see through plastic panel, the unit fits almost discrete in the back of my suv, but it seems to scratch rather easy with minor stuff brushing up against it. Those are the only two flaws I noted. The low end of bass hits, drops, and runs are distorted but keep in mind, lower powered 8 in. Sub will do that.
I got this for my daughters new car wired up very easily in the trunk & it rounded out her factory system perfect Nice punch for the buck, seems to be decent quality
Pros: Nice bang for the buck
Cons: No mounting brackets
I chose the B-8P because I wanted to add a low end to my system without sacrificing too much cargo space or attracting attention from potential thieves. I'm happy to report that this was the perfect solution! It adds a modest bass boost to your system, but if you're looking for punchy, car-rattling bass, you may want to consider other options. I should also add that an amp wiring kit must be purchased separately to install this sub. I found a 10 gauge kit, and that worked just fine.
Pros: Easy setup Enhances music without drowning out highs and mids Illumination can be turned on or off Great deal for the price
Cons: No wiring included May leave something to be desired for bass junkies
I'm happy with the sound, although because I installed it in my travel trailer, I really have to keep the level down, like WAY down. This thing could really pump out the bass. I was surprised by the size; I installed under a dinette seat in the storage area, and had to cut out one of the seat supports to drop it into place, then install a modified brace over it that lays in place, just in case the sub had to come out again.
Pros: Really fills the sound out coupled with the tiny factory speakers.
Cons: The instructions weren't all that clear. I fished speaker wire off the Speaker C outputs of the Jensen RV unit, and thought the high level input would trigger the sub, only to find that it still needs to have the 12V trigger, forcing me to take out the head unit and run another wire.
I bought this little sub because I wanted something to enhance the bass in the rear of my 2014 CX-5 w/Bose factory system. It has subs in the front doors but I wanted something for the rear that wouldn't be overpowering. There were no clear instructions or kits to make this happen but when this sub went on sale for $99.00, I couldn't resist. After locating the factory Bose amp in the passenger side kick panel area, I located the output wires to the door sub and quick tapped into them for my input to this sub. After a few hours of experimenting with the stereo's fader and the sub's crossover frequency and level adjustment I am very pleased with the results. It adds a nice thump to the rear of the car and along with the factory subs is more than enough bass for my car. I'm a live FOH sound engineer and my musical tastes run from Country to Metal. Progressive Rock stuff like Yes, Dream Theater, Steely Dan etc..sound especially great now with the added low end. With the differing characteristics between the door subs and the Sound Ordinance in the rear there are times where drum fills sound like they are moving from front to rear as well as left and right. I think this sub is a great deal and is a great addition to enhance any factory stereo or system lacking bottom end. At $99 it was a steal but I feel it is well worth the normal price as well.
Pros: Compact size and versatile installation options. It looks and sounds great!!
Cons: None that I have found
I ordered my first one and was absolutely in love. then I decided I need another! Now that I have these two, all my friends choose to ride with me over my friend with two 10's!
Pros: amazing, leds look sweet
installed unit in my work van . my stereo has preamp outputs easy to install. takes a few minutes to get adjusted properly. after adjusting unit sounds good for the money.
Pros: easy installation
Cons: nothing comes with the unit to secure it in my truck had to fabricate hold down
It did what Crutchfield said it would do, added bass to my stereo. For the price and ease of installation you will not find a better product, with my windows up it sound like I'm in a concert, very impressive, with the windows down sounds like a normal car stereo.
Pros: ease of installation price
Cons: little bulky for a 8"
Completes the system, great sound, easy to tune
Pros: provides enough punch inside the vehicle, without shaking the car next to you, No one outside the car can tell how hard it hits.
Cons: None, it's bigger than i thought
Best bang for your buck
Overall a great product. Looks cool, solidly built, and puts out great bass. Just don't expect it to be something it's not. If you want serious big time boom, look somewhere else. But if what you need is a nice thump in the low end of your system, this is it. I got it for under $100, and it's worth every penny.
Pros: Good bass, well built, great (sale) price
Cons: A bit bulky, especially if you have a smaller car
Was looking for a powered sub to put into my sons 1958 Bug. His sound system was pretty lacking in bass. So I bought this for him for his birthday. Easy to put in and set up, and when we powered up the sub, big smiles all round. Definitely worth the money, puts out more than enough bass, really pleased with it.
Pros: Great bass at an affordable price
I had some worries after ordering this, wondering if the bass would be deep enough after reading some of the few negative reviews. I had this installed in my 2009 GTI with OEM headunit today by some Echo Park boyz-in-the-hood (for $40, not even worth trying to do it myself!) and I am impressed. I have somehow lived without a car for the past decade, though was pushing 4-10s in my last car (RIP Acura Legend). Fast forward, in my 30s now, and was looking for something to round out the bottom end in the factory system. After install, put in the new Gucci, and it slammed. Slammed in the sense that I got blurry vision. Granted, the level was "turnt up", but damn. After some adjustments (not wanting blurred vision), this sounds great. My concerns about lack of bass were totally unfounded. The bros at the shop were impressed with the price/sound combo. Also, it takes very little space up in the hatch--can still fit a bike in there with lots of room. Also, you can hear it outside of the car, though not in a wake the neighbors sort of way. What a great purchase, although my wife probably wouldn't agree. I encourage anyone looking for a small unit with impressive sound, but not looking for window shattering, "steal my system" sound to buy this. I listed to rap/garage/punk and it all sounds excellent.
Sounds great and easy to install. Using this on my Pontoon Boat to add a little bass.
After reading over 100 reviews on this sub, I decided to get it to put into my 2013 Honda Accord. I have had this in my car for about a month now and I cannot say it hits like a big sound system, as some reviewers have written. I was only looking for something to fill in the missing low end from the factory sound system. I can say this sub does the job. After tweaking the gain and adjusting the setting on the radio, this sub gives me just the right amount of low end base I was looking for. This is by no means a car rattler, but it does still vibrate my mirror when I have turned up with the windows down. All in all, this is a great sub for the money. I would by this again as well as recommend it to anyone looking to enhance a sound system with out rattling the car.
Pros: Small enough to still use my trunk for everyday use. Light weight for easy removal if necessary. Not an overbearing sound.
Cons: No remote base adjuster available.
Great little unit with big sound. Just wanted reasonable price to accent bass in music. If you are the type that wants to rattle your windows, move on. If you want good bass accents, a good price and a good looking unit that doesnt take up a lot of space, this is it.
Pros: Special thanks to phone line help people that answered about 500 questions from me. Wiring kit and unit arrived as promised.
Good buy for the money. If you are looking for something that will rattle the windows in the car, look elsewhere. If you just need a little bass to enhance the sound in your vehicle, this may be a good choice. I placed this in the trunk of a volvo S80. Had to turn the gain up significantly to get decent sound but I knew that going into it as this unit is placed in an enclosed trunk which limits its effectiveness in the cabin of the car. I'm sure this would work better in SUV's or hatch.
Pros: Good for the money and optional speaker level inputs make it easy to install
Cons: not great for trunk mount
I bought this powered sub for my son this past Christmas(2012). It was on sale for a great price and he has a small car(1997 Saturn SC2). He absolutely loved it after him and his buddies hooked it up. It is a great sounding bandpass. It sounds better than most his friends subs who paid a lot more money than what I paid. I am thinking about getting one for my truck. Very pleased and surprised with this sub. Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Small sub with great power and sound
I driver a 96 Mustang GT daily driver and want a little bass and still want space in my trunk This is the product to get The bass is not over powering where you would set off alarms or let those little as* hole kids who want to steal you box know that you have and sub and I still have a lots of space in my car for my fishing rods, cooler and junk
Pros: Small , good bass and sexy looking
Cons: Only wish I can change the LED bulb color but its not a problem
wow r u kiding me. wow wow are you kiddding meee
I bought this subwoofer a little over a year ago. It has outperformed my expectations. It's not going to rattle your eardrums out but does provide a deep strong bass. My fiancé and I like to go to the drive in movie theatre. This subwoofer makes any action movie sound amazing. It may not thump like two 12's but definitely is amazing for a 8" sub. The 3 year warranty is also a plus.
Pros: Provides more thump than expected from 8" sub
I wanted some bass to round out my system in my Acura. Both high end Boston Acoustics 6x9 three way and 6.5 in the front. plus Sony head unit. The current setup sounds nice but I wanted a little bass to add to the system that doesn't take up a lot of space in the trunk. In my 40's and I don't want heavy bass like someone in their 20's. After reading some positive reviews about this Sound Ordnance B-8p, thought I would give it a try. Being an engineer by trade and have installed numerous head units and amp and subs since my teens. I'm quite capable of doing installs. But not having the right tools and time was a factor. I brought it to a professional shop to do the install costing $$. The shop tried numerous adjustments but there was only a marginal improvements to the sound. Spent another two hours making adjustments to the head unit and the sub, but no improvements, playing different types on music. Was disappointed on how lacking there was in bass. I installed a 8" Bazooka powered sub in my 2nd vehicle with almost the same setup and the Bazooka sounded a lot better. Thinking about returning this Sound Ordnance and trying something else.
Pros: Nice looking enclosure.
Cons: Sound, not much bass or enough power for any decent bass.
What can I say? It's all true. The Amp is well matched. I was surprised by the sound this 8" speaker produced. Well worth the money. A lot of good reviews here so I'm going to keep this short.
Pros: Rich bass but not overpowering. On off switch for the LED lights
I purchased this to add a little bass to my system and it sounds really good for what it is. I chose the b-8p because my 93 Mustang coupe has a very small trunk and I wanted something easy to remove at the track. The reviews on this was also a selling point, and they are all accurate. This is well worth the money for what you get. Very nice product. This will not beat your face in or rattle your car to pieces, but it will provide some much needed in car bass. Very pleased with this setup
Pros: Nice little setup for a great price. Easy installation. Surprisingly decent bass for an 8" sub.
Cons: The only downfall is now that my girlfriend heard this in my car now she wants me to get her one.
I've had this installed for 2 weeks now and I am blown away! Sound's way bigger than it is.
Pros: Big Sound. Small Size. Low power draw so minimal wire hassles.
Cons: None yet
Awesome system! I needed something I could take in and out fairly easy, so a powered sub seemed to be the best option. I had a Rockford 12 in my last car that hit just slightly louder than this, but the real quality of this sub is in the tone. Tons of adjustment for such a small sub, buy this now.
Pros: Sound quality, compact size, easy install.
Well I just put this in yesterday paired with a pioneer pdvd4100,sound ordnance p 52's components in the front and helix speakers in the back. My 09 scion tc came with a stock sub but after changing my hu I didn't really have full control over and I just recently decided to upgrade my cars stereo . I got the speakers then an alpine Mrp-f300 to power them wow big difference. I was still a little unhappy with the low end tho so I started looki g into subwoofers but didnt want to spend to much I came across this and the reviews were great so I said ill give it a shot. Didnt take me long to install since I ran an extra set of rca cables when I installed my amp used a distributor block to run this and my amp. This thing sound much better than I thought I think u get much better performance if your hu has dedicated subwoofer rca outputs. This thing thumps I listen to mostly rock type music and wasn't sure if the box type would hit the kick drum like I wanted we'll it does so I don't need to worry about that any more and I play some rap once in awhile and it hits hard try playing black eyed peas boom boom pow I hate the song but its a good bass to test this bad boy out. So as of 2 days I'm Very happy thAnk you crutchfield
Pros: Good bass .good price ,good look
Cons: None so far
I've never had a decent car audio system, but a friend turned me on to Crutchfield when the factory HU in my 02 Protege failed. The master sheet and tools made it so easy to replace, I went on to replace the front speakers with a Crutchfield recommendation, then the back ones as well. Still lacking bass, I started looking at subs. I didn't want to spend a lot. I ruled out the MTX small sub because it has no grill and I have to put stuff in my trunk. The cone is stiff enough, but I worried about tearing the surround. The small B-8PT got good reviews, but one reviewer said "not as much punch as the B-8P." Since the footprint is about the same, and since the bandpass SW is a little cheaper, I decided to go with it, knowing if it didn't work for me I could return it. Still tweaking it, but very happy with it. The SW allows you to get more bass with less volume. If you are into rap, or like to play music so your ears are ringing when you get out of the car, this won't do it for you. But classic rock and jazz (e.g. Boston, Kansas, Sade, Steely Dan, Yes, Yellow Jackets, etc.) played at comfortable level, it really fills out the LF and has nice, tight, punchy sound. Adds a lot of clarity to bass lines, bass and lower drums. I'm very happy with it. Thanks, Crutchfield.
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing overall. Carpeted is glued down nicely, and the embroidered (not painted) "Sound Ordnance" symbol looks classy. Fits in the trunk without taking up all the space,. Fills out missing LF for music at moderate levels (I don't turn the volume much above 22 out of 35 max).
Cons: Some screws are driven in a bit crooked, evidence of hasty assembly (which probably helps keep the cost down) - not a big deal since it's hidden from view & you have to look closely to see. The connection slots are a bit narrow for spade clips for 8-10 AWG wire (which is what Crutchfield recommends for this Sub), & I had to use a grinding wheel to narrow them before attaching them to the wire so they would fit the slots - not a big deal if you have grinding wheel, but spades won't fit w/o mod.
This subwoofer is outstanding in quality and produces real deep bass or light bass depending on the listeners taste. Overall amazing subwoofer and I will buy again.
Pros: Good quality, deep bass, no distortion
Great sub for the money. Those who said they couldn't even tell if it was on must not know how to set it up correctly. This thing will NOT rattle your windows, but for those looking for some low end to round out the sound in their car, it's well worth it.
Pros: Price, Value. Sound
Cons: My only complaint is that the dimensions weren't quite accurate on Crutchfield.com, and it wouldn't fit under the seat like I was hoping (Van), but it's in the back and it sounds great.
I have been dragging around a large speaker box with two Pyle driver pros from 1989 and a 200 watt amp. This thing has more bass than my old setup. Plus the amp is built in so no need for separate amp. I currently have a 2010 Subaru outback sport and it only takes up a quarter of my hatchback space. Great sub for a small hatch back car with limited space. Don't get me wrong, this is not equivalent to 1000 watt amp sound, but I personally don't like my stomached rattled by bass. It does make my hair move at times, but won't make you sick. :)
Pros: Unbelievable bass sound from only 80 watts at a great price. Very compact. Built in amp, no need for two things taking up space.
Cons: Don't really have any!
Sounds just like my old Rockford Fosgate Punch 8" in a plexiglass box, but for significantly cheaper. It is exactly what I was looking for. Inside the Trailblazer, the bass is solid, clean and booming - but it doesn't carry far. From outside the vehicle you can't really hear it, so it is stealthy. I'm glad I gave this brand a chance, I almost didn't.
Pros: Cheap as hell, great sound, would compare it to Rockford Fosgate. Sorry RF, think I found a new brand. Quiet from outside the vehicle, nobody is going to follow you home to gank it if you keep your windows up.
I always thought subs were kind of obnoxious and would be overkill for my musical tastes, but after reading the rave reviews here from more than a few subwoofer newbies, I decided to give it a whirl. I am soooo glad I did. This thing sounds fantastic - my music is so much more alive and I hear things in old songs I never heard before. My musically taste is evolving because of this thing! I'm not a Rap guy, but I do really like is how it sounds with my Pandora "Chill" station...the bass lines from Thievery Corporation are unbelievable. Not only that, but I think my hair may be getting darker too... Unfortunately, the sub had a wiring issue and would pop consistently on power up - confirmed to be defective after a little diagnostic help from Crutchfield. Three days later....a new sub was at my doorstep. Unbelievable! THE ONLY THING BETTER THAN THIS SUB IS CRUTCHFIELD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE...BUY CRUTCHFIELD - BE HAPPY!! Thank you guys!!!
Pros: incredible sound, fairly compact, reverses the aging process, fantastic product with an even better company behind it
Excellent product with little investment. I didn't think that this excellent speaker would sound so great in the small space recommended. Excelente producto con poca invercion. No pense que esta bocina sonara tan exelente la recomiendo gran sonido en poco espacio wao.
Not too big and doesn't take up much space but the bass is more than you would expect for a box this size. Perfect to add more than a little bass to a factory radio. Fits and sounds just right in my nissan rogue with factory speakers.
Pros: Cool looking with blue leds. Very good bass sound and doesn't take up much space compared to other subs.
I checked out so many different speaker options for my 87 Mustang GT convertible including bazookas and separate amp and box and after reading the reviews I figured I cannot go wrong I agree 100% that this is the most bang for your buck!it does in fact sound like 2 10's in a box! UNBELIEVABLE! i have all the settings halfway I cannot be happier, stop searching and buy it!U will not be disappointed I think this will sound great in any vehicle.. I got the open box which Saved me money it looks great sounds great and Can be heard in&out! Kyle my sales representative assisted me in the purchase so kudos to him!
Pros: BASS!,Value,Quality,Space Saver,Easy Install
Cons: little heavy
If your are like me and have wanted some heavy bass without being one of those dudes with a massive 1000 watt system, this is for you. It's a powered sub which means the speaker and amplifier have been paired to match and perform perfectly and efficiently together. Very simple. Buy this and a wiring kit and you are set.
Pros: Heavy bass response, well made porting and cabinet, beautiful acrylic cover the protect speaker as well as lights which illuminate the cabinet wonderfully. Very simple set up with and awesome price tag.
Cons: It has a cabinet so it takes a slightly more space than a flat sub that goes under the seat, but still, very small compared to most cabinets
Bought this for my son's Altima, a freind installed in trunk. install time almost 2 hours, but he does pro work. Unit sound good, does not take a lot of space great for what I wanted
I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend and was surprised at how well it performs. She is happy and that is what counts.
Great product quality and sound. Thankful for the double box as UPS seems to have put it to the test! Could not be happier overall. Cannot beat this sub for the money.
Pros: Price point, sound quality, compact size.
Cons: None yet.
Nice display in the box. When we hooked it up, I thought the sound was my sons 3 10's from his truck. WOW. this little 8" sub really hits the lows and sounds much larger than it really is. This was a great find
Pros: Great sound. nice looking and super easy to install
This is my first subwoofer installed on a car and I'm completely satisfied I was not expecting that the sound would improve this much just by adding a small sub box
Pros: Great sound and great price. Easy installation.
I purchased this for my daughter after reading all the reviews. I prefer the sound of a bandpass box but was a bit skeptic of just an eight inch sub with an eighty watt amp. Plus I have always been a fan of big bass and preferred 12 inch subs because they were well balanced in responsiveness with a good deep sound. After reading all the reviews I was anxious to try this thing out. I certainly do not hear notes that some people are claiming with it sounding like a 12 but I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised by the sound that comes out of this box. Notes that fall in this subs range are very strong and solid, notes that fall in the very low end barely make any sound at all. So if you listen to a wide variety of music this will be great and exactly what you are looking for, sounds awesome on everything. If you listen to rap or anything real low, this will not fit the bill. I have heard a lot of systems in my time, installed for 4 years with Circuit City and this is a fantastic package especially for the money... I would say it is worth a lot more.
Pros: small complete package, hard to find above average performance, I would say excellent excellent price point
Cons: does not play real low notes at all
My second unit, the first is in my 1965 Impala SS and it sounds terrific, so I ordered another one for a older Mustang GT. Easy to install. Easy to setup and adjust, and really ads to the sound quality of the otherwise mediocre sound system. I enjoy listening to my MP3 player so much more with the addition of the Powered Sub Woofer!
Pros: Great Price, easy installation, easy adjustment, great sound.
This box is easy to install and has a great sound. The price can be more and its still a good deal. I have a Scion TC, any car in this class this is all you need for a good bang.
Pros: Amp and speaker in one small package. Easy to install. Price is excellent.
Cons: There is none.
Looks cool, sounds cool, easy installation...great Bass
I really like this subwoofer. It was exactly what I was looking for. It's relatively small, self-contained with the amp, and easy to install. The price is really good also. Keep in mind, though, that this sub has only 80 watts and an 8" speaker, so it is not a major thumper. I wanted a small sub for my 2003 Accord that would enhance the bass from my other speakers and give me a little feel of the bass. For what I wanted, it sounds great. This sub is perfect for that. If you're looking to have some serious thumpage, this speaker probably won't give you that.
Pros: Size, ease of use
This sub is a BEAST!! Especially for the size. I've been playing around with the settings now for about a month and come to realize that it sounds best turned up halfway. You can hear/feel plenty of bass without over doing it at that setting. Now I can crank my music with a smile on my face. ;-)
Pros: Not over powering and sounds great for both rock and pop.
I was gleefully stunned when I finally opened the 3rd box (came triple boxed) quality is top notch. Its also small so it is very easy to place out of the way. bass from this thing is nothing short of suprising for its size and power rating. it doesn't boom down low like a high power 12 in a ported box, but it more than evened out my sound with amped door speakers
Pros: sound, size, quality
Cons: doesnt like to go really high or really low
It has a lot of power in a little box It did not take up hardly any space And it did not cost much I do recommend this
Just installed in my 2012 Mustang GT and WOW what a difference! My car only came with the basic stereo with 4 speakers, pretty crappy sound i must say. So I changed the stocks out with Fosgate 5X7s and added this Sub and what a difference it made. We actually enjoy listening to music again on road trips. This little Sub sounds A LOT bigger than it looks. It took me about 3 hours to hook up, had a little trouble with the wiring. I highly recommend this product.
Pros: Looks good and sounds even better.
Cons: Needed better instructions for installation in the box.
Installed fairly easily in an '88 Mustang convertible using the rear speaker leads. The car has the stock "Premium Sound" option and after replacing the ancient Ford junk speakers the sound still needed some "umph" to it. This was just the answer and just fits in the tiny trunk of the convertible. The speaker level ins worked fine and the sub level is at less than half. The result is great for someone who doesn't really care if their system can go to deafening levels. Note: It really sounds great for an 8" with a small built in amp, but be aware that this is mostly because of the box design. And also note that because of the bandpass design the bass is somewhat more muffled and indistinct sounding than you may be used to with say a sealed 10" sub box and bigger amp. It also doesn't get really low or do well with anything over 70Hz either - but it wasn't meant to.
Pros: Great, affordable solution for those wanting some bass to compliment their stock or slightly upgraded system, and an easy install.
Cons: Not serious but it has a slightly limited frequency range because it's an 8", and somewhat "indistinct" sounding bass because of the box design. A design that also helps it get quite loud for what it is. No stars docked.
Whoa!!! Its pretty strong and small. I had a smaller car with two 10s before. Now I have 2010 For Fusion and just this little 8inch and it is as strong maybe even stronger!!! All this is with the factory stereo and speakers!! I gotta upgrade everything else. I was on a low budget witch is why I havent changed stereo yet. I got two kids (3 and 8months) so I gotta turn down the bass levels, but when daddy is going to work it's on like donkey kong!!!
Pros: Strong and small.
Cons: uhhhh, none. Maybe just that I didn't get it sooner!!!
I've owned this product for over a year now. I'm glad I went with this over separate sub, amp, etc. It was easy to setup, the most difficult thing was just trying to find the best way to run my wires to the trunk. I own a little Accent so I am able to get the nice bass in my music without taking up a lot of space. I am still able to use my trunk without too many problems. For me, the output is perfect. I'm not one that cranks the bass where there is all you hear. I like to enjoy my music and have that nice rumbling in the background. Even at a lower setting, it still vibrates the car and seats. Also can't beat the price where everything you need is right there in a nice package. I would suggest this product to anyone.
Pros: Compact, plenty of bass for most needs, and easy setup.
Cons: For me, there is none. For some, it's not your block shaker where you can feel it blocks away and having people wanting to put a bullet through it (like me ;-) ).
let me start by saying if this is your first sub and you're planning to replace it when you have the money, please get it. Just know that it doesn't kick anything like even some other 8 inches I've heard. I don't know what I'm going to do to make it louder, maybe take off the plexiglass cover. i will try it and then write back Crutchfield. Some earlier reviews brag that it "kicks like two twelves". This may be true for two twelves from a discount store. almost no resonation, but if all you want is to complete your sound system with a more bass, go right ahead because the sound quality is great. Oh yea, and the installation for a first time user is incredibly easy, gives you directions right in the box.
Pros: Easy set up Good Price Looks awsome Great sound quality Fairly compact
Cons: NOT quite as powerful as the other reviews would have you think
can't beat the price for this powered sub that is just rocking my integra to death. my buddy and I installed this bad boy in an hour. this is the perfect size for a compact car/hatchback. The controls are so easy to use. Couldn't be happier. I was worried that the sub would slide all over the trunk without tie downs or a harness, but it is heavy enough to endure corners without moving an inch. My wife is so jealous, she wants one for her car now too.
Pros: price, sound
Received this yesterday. Install took about 3 hours (first time installing). Sounds amazing, so much bass. I only have the bass at halfway and it's too much for me. Buy this, you won't regret it!
Pros: The bass hits hard Cheap but doesn't sound cheap
I don't think I can add anything that hasn't already been said. This is a great sub for the money. I'm in my late 40's and was only looking to add some good sounding bass without breaking the bank or annoying the crap out of other people and this sub proved to be just what I needed. The best part of buying from Crutchfied is the tech support you get from these guys.
Pros: Great sounding sub for the money.
This sub-woofer bangs so good for the price. Simple installation. Makes my minivan fun to drive. I like sub-woofers. If you want to buy this I would recommend a bit larger gauge wires than the manufacturer provided. Thanks Sound Ordinance for the pleasure.
Pros: It makes your car faster, I like it, simple installation, cheap
This is a nice little unit. I put the B-8P in my Taurus, the hardest part was getting through the firewall! I had no problem with installing it. I got rid of the stock system this week... Put Polk Audio db-571's in the front doors, Pioneer TS-D 6802r's in the rear deck and installed an Alpine CDE-136BT for the head unit. That was a huge difference over the stock stuff. But when I brought up the volume on the B-8P.... I couldnt stop grinning. I was listening to Blackberry Smoke at the time.. Next test song was from Miranda Lambert. Next was Tommy James. Next was Godsmack.. Crimson and Clover never sounded so good, and Godsmack was simply frightening!! Buy it! Your wife will forgive you when she feels it! Mine did.
Cons: None at all.
I got my box yesterday n install it with my wife she does music engineering and i alway want my music to sound like ur studio. when we hear this start to hit we was WOW this thing is great now she want to buy one and use in her studio i am very happy with the buy so if ur reading this review just stop n buy u will not regreat it so stop wasting time readin review and go buy
Pros: Love it
Cons: No cons for this
I installed this in my daughter's 99 Saturn SL2. The car has a low dollar Dual CD head unit, stock rear deck speakers and a pair of OK Pioneer 6.5 door speakers. Needless to say, this is nowhere near a high end set up and the "Wow!" factor is not what we were going for. The system was merely missing all semblance of a bottom end. Not being my car, and my daughter being nothing close to an audiophile, I opted to give the SO B-8P a try. First off, let's address the fact that it is an 8" sub. Big booming sound isn't the name of the game. Decent mid lows is. It is in a bandpass box which does help out immensely, however, it also isn't as tight of a sound as one could get out of a sealed enclosure... tradeoffs, tadeoffs. The amp certainly isn't the cleanest, but factor in price and purpose and it's just fine. Once hooked up we gave it a whirl with various genres of music via radio and MP3 player. The difference was stark! This sub added the bottom end that this system desperately needed. Just my opinion here, but if your just looking to add that bass to a lacking stock stereo system or a low power aftermarket set up, this is definitely an option to look out. High power and high end systems would be better served to look elsewhere.
Pros: Cost. Bang for the buck, Typical straight forward amp wiring. easy to manipulate controls.... and the cheesy LED lighting in the window can be turned off
Cons: Not for huge thundering bass. Compared to other setups it's not up to par (but again, factor in purpose and price and it's a winner)
Great little sub in my 2003 Mustang. Very powerful for the little 8 inches and hits far harder than the stock 8 inch in my dad's Acura. Friends are surprised by the fact that that little box is doing what it does, and some songs even have enough bass to rattle the mirror and set off alarms. Paired with 4 6x8 pioneer speakers and a pioneer deh-3200ub head unit, this system was affordable and sounds great! Thanks Crutchfield!
Wanted to add some bass to my system in my Dakota ext. cab, bit didn't want to sacrifice much space. It fits perfectly behind my seat and takes up very little space. The sound is incredible. I listen to MANY different forms of music and you can tune it your music of choice. Unless you're looking to rattle your neighbor's windows, this sub is great, especially for the price!
Pros: Installation was a breeze. Took me just a couple hours, and that was with me taking my time.
Cons: None that I've seen or heard.
This sub sounds great for the price and size. After putting in a new head unit and speakers in my 97 ranger I was missing a big part of the music, BASS! I didn't want anything to over powering, I just wanted clean crisp bass. The banpass box is the way to go, I have had 10" 12" and 15" all in banpass boxes and I have loved them all. So when I seen this for so cheap I was very skeptical, but now I'm very happy and extremely pleased with the sound. This was the puzzle piece missing out of my system, and it is the perfect fit.
Pros: Price, and sound
Cons: I wouldn't put this in a trunk of a car. This box is perfect for trucks jeeps and SUVs
I was a little sceptical of the claim other people were making about this subwoofer. I was really surprised how great it sounds. I put the sub in a 2004 PT Cruiser. It only takes up a small amount of room in the hatch area. The craftsmanship of the enclosure is top notch. It gives a very professional look to the sub. The adjustments provided make the sound perfect for all different types of music. The lights in it won't stay on, but that is so minor I don't even consider it a problem.
Pros: Compact size, awesome sound.
Cons: Lights won't stay on. No biggie.
This sounds great. Of course it is not a 1200 watt vibrator like you see rattling the dishes in your house when it goes by. Those type of systems are for people who want everyone else to hear how loud there expensive system are. This gives that added bass for your average car or suv stereo. I have subwoofers on everything in my house. Bass is an integral element to all music but of course you need to buy subs to give it to you. This gives great body to your music. It was easy to install, Had to drill hole through firewall as usual to run battery cable to the device. I drilled where the clutch would have gone since my Hyundai Santa Fe doesnt have one. Just google your vehicle and you will probably find a site where someone has done it on you vehicle type. You cant go wrong with this subwoofer, you will love the sound!
Pros: Easy to install with the free provided wiring kit.
Cons: No remote provided but turning up and down bass from my receiver works just as well.
I purchased this sub for my son in December 2011 as a Christmas present and I all I could say is "WOW". After 5 months of heavy use, this sub is still performing great. The bass output is very impressive for the size. Great bang for the $$$!
Pros: Great price and top notch sound!
Cons: Does not have any mounting kit to keep the sub from moving around.
Decent for someone looking for richer and deep auto audio sound. The price can't be beat and even came with a free 8ga wiring kit. Online email support was excellent and my two questions were replied to in less than one day.
Pros: Good quality, excellent price, free wiring kit, great online support.
Cons: You won't be flipping quarters on your car roof with this subwoofer but it does sound decent and improves overall car stereo experience.
I have a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara and this thing rocks it. clear accurate bass and it hits pretty hard. With this being a hatchback vehicle it works very well. I used som pros to install this thing and we all stood in the parking lot talking about how impressed we all were by it. It actually blown me away when I heard it the first time. You can hear me coming down the street and I did not expect that from this thing. I used to have a JL 10 and a MTX 12 with a 150 mono amp in open boxes. This is my first ban pass box and this sub rivals those. This sub will not compete in any competetion but I think it is perfect for anyone just wanting some nice thick bass when riding around. Buy it! I was very sceptical, I am not anymor.... This thing is great!
Pros: Big Sound in a little box. It really looks good too. Very good job on the box. Some people complain about the LED lights but I think they are cool when shuffling around the trunk at night, it's just like having an extra light in the car.
Cons: for the price, I can't say anything. For 111 bucks I got this box and a 50 dollar wiring kit. I got way more than what I paid for. Thank you Crutchfield!!!!
Ok i read both the good and bad reviews and decided to chance this sub! After I ordered it delivery was 2 days!!! I can say this those that say it blows away 2 12 inch subs are smokning something!!! Sorry guys but If you think that then go get some real subs other than from walmart, spemd more than $300 on you sub amp combo.. I put this in a 2005 Jeep grand cherokee and i will say it does pound pretty good. If it were put in a trunk I think you would get bass outa it but not sure how much would travel through the back seat into the car. In my suv it is more than enough. I installed it for my wife and she says OMG my ears are gona pop!!! lol. Now I speak from experience , this isent my first sub. Ive had systems for about 15 years now and I will say I am blown away by this little 8inch sub. It vibraates the mirrors and the change in the cup holders with ease. I have 2 12 inch cerwin vegas on a 1000.1D mono amp in my other car and it blows this away, which it should.. So bottom line If you want some bass for $110 this is perfect!!! You will be happy with what you get. I can turn it up in the driveway and here the bass in the house. All in all im gona give this 5 stars. great bang for the buck!! GOOD JOB on this one..
Pros: Easy install, compact, easy setup, all in 1, sound, FAST shipping,
Cons: clear LED's in the box,
For an 8 inch cannot be beat for performance and price! And crutchfield gets it there fast!
Pros: Good value!
I bought this powered sub for my son to finish off the system in his car. It is matched up with an Alpine deck and Polk Audio speakers. His car is a Scion xB, so space was limited. This sub is a perfect match! Sounds great, is constructed very well, and looks cool too! I also purchased an Install Card, used it at Advance Mobile Security for the installation, Rudy, the owner, couldn't have been a nicer guy! He and his staff did a great job and have even offered to help my son "tune" the sub to his system in a few weeks after it breaks in! Overall, very happy with this sub, Crutchfield, InstallerNet, etc....For once a purchase goes as planned! For the price, you just won't be able to find a better sounding, quality built powered sub! Buy this thing....It is great!
Pros: Sound, Build Quality, Price, Cool Factor!
Cons: Couldn't find any!
BIG sound from a small box!
Pros: Solid construction, looks and sounds great. Came with free wire kit!
I don't understand why there are so many reviews saying this is louder and better than a friends 12 and all that. It isn't. That being said you can't go wrong with this little sub if you are just looking at a cheap all in one solution to round out a factory system or moderately powered system. With the free wiring kit and good quality production this sub is as good as it gets for value and can get the job done and free your speakers up from bass duties. Crutchfield free shipping is also a plus since shipping would usually cost you a bunch of money elsewhere.
Pros: value, value, value...free wiring kit & good quality construction.
Cons: definitely not a 12. but you shouldn't expect it to be anyway.
I bought this sub because of the price and because I didn't like looking for a amp if I bought some other sub. it sounds amazing and it I'd way louder than what I expected. The window is different. I haven't seem any other sub with that and it makes it look more professional instead of cheap.
Pros: Looks. quality. Sound. Construction. No amp. Free wire kit!
I got this sub for my 4Runner and wasn't looking to spend a lot of money to but a sub in it and this one was cheap so i got the sub a WOW is amazing is sounds fantastic. I would even say it is in the running with a 12in sub
Wow. For as small as this powered sub is, this surely hits hard. I had my doubts even after reading the reviews, but I was shocked by how well this sounded.
Pros: Hits pretty hard for a small price.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Best for your money sound I think I have ever heard! Amazing full sound, perfect complement to alpine deck.
Pros: Value, Value, Value, Sound, Value, Crutchfield!
Even after reading EVERY positive review on this website, I was still blown away by the sound. I love this product. Yes, it gets loud. That's coming from someone who used to drive two 12" pioneer subs and a 1000 watt pyramid amp in my hatchback. Buy this sub. Buy this sub. Buy this sub.
Well worth the money it's better than the 12 inch sub I had in my car and puts out a lot of sound. So if your a first time buyer it is a good price for a beginner.
Pros: Great price, clean bass and easy to tune.
I wasn't looking for really deep bass, or a system that annoys everyone next to you in traffic. All I wanted was a decent sounding system. I got four infinity component speakers (with bass blockers) and this Sound Ordnance B-8P powered sub. I get more bass from the component speakers than I do from the sub and as mentioned before they HAVE BASS BLOCKERS ON THEM... So I called tech support and had them double check all my wiring and I had it set up correctly. I honestly can not tell the difference between when I have this sub turned on and when I have it turned off. Its just so weak and pathetic. I have a feeling that this is a cash cow add-on (an unnecessary one at that) for Crutchfield. I'm currently in the process of returning this item.
Pros: Cheap... Not just in cost but also in quality. Good for a single seater car (in other words, a very very tiny car, like a Smart Car for example)
Cons: Cheap quality Doesn't produce noticeable bass
Can't beat it for the money. Great sound!
Pros: Clean bass sound. Great price.
Perfectly rounds out the sound in my pickup, my speakers can now focus on doing what they do best because they have low end reinforcement.
Pros: Easy to use, setup and tweak. Plus for the price you can't go wrong!
I was looking for some good punch on a budget - something I thought might not be possible. When I read the reviews for the B-8P I thought "for sure, this many people can't be wrong", and I'm glad to report they aren't. It's a quality piece, well finished, with great sound. My 22 year old Jetta Coupe sounds great now, something I've never been able to say until I completed my budget sound system with this sub. It CAN be turned up loud enough to draw attention (and stereotypes) to you - it has the capability, but I'd much rather just have good sounding music and not draw the attention, so I have it tuned somewhere closer to the middle. The free installation wiring kit that comes with it has everything you need to wire it up to your car. I took the time to wire it right since the kit arrived before the sub, ran the power on one side of the car and audio on the other to keep out interference. The lights in the sub are completely unnecessary, but may appease some. I've done lots of automotive wiring, but little audio, and this was a simple installation. Just take your time and have fun! For the price, quality, and performance, I'm very happy with this sub.
Pros: Great price. Great sound. Not too big. Quality build/finish. Comes with a complete wiring kit.
Cons: None, really.
Installed it this weekend and don't want to get out my car. UNBELIEVABLE sound! Great product, great price, fast shipping. YOU WILL HONESTLY NOT BELIEVE THIS IN AN EIGHT INCH WOOFER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: ABSOLUTELY NONE
Coming from a person with no experience with aftermarket equipment, this sub is amazing! It was very easy to install, even with a factory radio! It sounds AMAZING and I have more bass than my Brother's car (who has a 10" stock sub). The sub really pumps out some good bass and the difference in all my music (hardcore, rock, dubstep) is incredible. I am very hesitate and I wasnt sure if all the reviews were true, but after I got it hooked up I was amazed. It shipped in 3 days, and I had customer support who answered my question immediately. The only thing you need to buy is about 6 or 7 ft of speaker wire if you are using a factory radio. I have it installed in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt (no stock pioneer system) I'd recommend it to anyone! great buy
Pros: 1) Great sound improvement that was easy to install 2) Doesn't take up alot of space 3) (came with a free wiring kit from crutchfield) 4) Lights inside box turns on or off with switch 5) remote wire can easily go in the sunroof fuse block (instead of behind radio unit) (for Chevy Cobalts)(Pontiac G5) 6) Sturdy shipping packaging and came with S/O sticker and metal S/O dog tag
Cons: The pulse is hard to tune by ear, but it has nothing to do with the sub, just general knowledge. They should include more instructions on this subject.
After read a lots of 5 stars reviews, I decided to order this subwoofer. Shipping from Crutchfield, for free and very fast, includes a free amp installation kit. Run the cables and installation is a breeze. Only hook up remote, ground, battery and RCA's. After put the gain control to the mid position and make a few adjustments to match with my head unit, im very pleased with the sound. This little 8" subwoofer takes advantage of bandpass design that enhance the lows frequencies very very well probably equal or better than a 10" sub. Listen a few musical genres, like, rock, heavy metal, dubstep, latina, reggae roots, every sounds great. I have a Kenwood KDC-X 895 with 2 Alpine 4" Type S on rear doors and 2 Alpine 6 1/2 Type S on the front doors, and now with this Sound Ordnance BP 8 and my set up sounds great. Enough for me. If you want to complete and round your low frequencies on your car sound system, this is a great choice. Worth for the money, free shipping, amp kit included, 3 years warranty and free suports. For the price It is a great 8" subwoofer sound without squeeze your wallet. Thanks Crutchfield.
Pros: Well matched box design, subwoofer and amp. Runs cool. No hum or stranges sounds. Just clean and punchy bass .
Unit is well made and has adjustments to match bass to yur system, although I don't quite know how they work. Provides lots of bass and makes stereo sound much better.
Pros: Good sound. Easy to install.
Cons: Weighs 25 lb
For the money, this is an absolutely awesome sub. One 8" sub right behind me in my s10 = Good back massage and good sound quality.
Pros: Price, size, ease of installation.
Cons: 8" sub, not much thump but more than enough for $140
OMG!!! This is my first sub so I can't compare it to anything else. But this thing pounds. Even though I knew it would sound good, I was still blown away. It was easy to install especially with the amp wiring kit included for free. I am 100% satisfied with the value and quality of this product. But let's get back to the sound. I get great bass that does not overpower you. All my songs sound so much better. I didn't know why I didn't buy this sub earlier. if you're thinking about getting this sub, stop thinking and get it. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: Easy to wire (if you know what you're doing), LED lights, BIG BIG sound in a small box,
This little sub works wonders. If you crank it all the way to 11 it really thumps in the back of my tiny little rx-7. If you have a small car or hatch back you will love this thing. It should also fit great in most extended cab light trucks. It really sounds great with rock and even does a decent job with most rap songs.
Pros: Price Built In amp Easy to setup Sound great.
Cons: Blue LED on back side that does not turn off. I have the rear of the box facing towards the front of my car. So its annoying at night Had to cut off part of the ring terminal to fit an 8 Gauge power on it.
I was so surprised by how hard this little powered sub hit, a friend of mine actually bought a pair of 12's the same day as me and when i heard them i thought "man theres no way ill be satisfied with my one 8 inch sub..." but when i hooked that thing up and heard that first song man was i surprised when that all satisfying bang came my way!
Pros: For its size and weight. great clear and concise, hard hitting bass...i feel as though it could easily compete with a 10", maybe a 12" on a good day.
Cons: it wont compete with some much more expensive systems
I bought this powered sub for my wife's car. I wanted maximum sound for less space and for less money. I have 2 12" speakers in my car and it's too much for my wife especially when the kids ride in her car most of the time. It's a small and compact unit and also great sounding when she wants to crank it up.
Pros: Compact size and Great sound
Cons: The optional bass knob should of been included.
Exceptionally clear sound from a lower-priced unit. My 17 year old son thinks I am a genius for buying him this powered subwoofer. Kudos to the Crutchfield tech who recommended this.
Pros: fairly compact. easy to wire. unbelievable sound
...that this sub had so many positive reviews, but you can count mine among them. I wasn't looking for something that could trigger seismic events, just some added depth from my sound system. This is it, right out of the box, exactly what I was looking for: simple to install, easy on the budget, and packs all the punch I was hoping for with some to spare. Excellent value, VERY pleased, far exceeded my expectations. My Thunderbird "thunders"!
Pros: Simple to install Easy on the budget Packs all the punch I was hoping for with some to spare. Exceeded my expectations
Cons: None, truly very pleased with this unit
Just astonishing what this little bugger puts out...After reading the reviews I knew this was the right sub for me, I'm an older person and I'm not looking to go down the street and impress my peers with the "thump, thump" of my subwoofer ;) , but I wanted some decent bottom to my music, and this fits the bill perfectly...highly recommended!
Pros: Does exactly as advertised, easy to install (once I figured out how to get power from the engine compartment to my trunk...). Superb performance all around.
Excellent sound from such a small package. My son was convinced he needed 2 -12's and an Amp but my Crutchfield Advisor said this powered 8' should be more than enough......he was right! Installation was straight forward and now the system is booming!
Pros: Nice design and sound, great quality
I like the way it sounds and it is perfect for me in the car
Big sound out of a small package. Really rounds out the sound in my Honda Accord. The bass is surprisingly hard hitting.
Pros: Easy installation with the included cables and power wires, small size leaves plenty of room in trunck, great value.
This was my first order from Crutchfield so I had no expectations. The build quality was very nice and so was the general appearance. As I hoped, this sub adds a strong low end to my music (it's not going to shake the car, just adds to the low end). I listen to country, rock, jazz, R&B, and about everything else. I have it installed in the truck of my '02 Subaru Legacy and it's powered by an Alpine CDE-123. The free wiring kit was all I needed and I had about 2 feet of extra cable when done. Overall, it performs exactly as I expected.
Pros: I doubt there's a better value to be had. The sub is very impressive for the price.
Cons: I occasionally have songs go below 70Hz and the sub fades out fairly quick. That's the specs so it's not really a con but a little lower response would be nice.
sounds bigger than an 8in sub. Very happy with this purchase. For the price it was a no brainer. Took me a little longer to install because I had to take my deck out twice. The sub did not have the auto feature discussed in the owners manual and kenwood calls the remote power ant/cont. Anyway I would buy it again.
Pros: Price, everything included, sound and crutchfield!
Cons: wish there was a switch for the LEDs.
This bandpass subwoofer bumps hard, it sounds like as if i had my 12" sub in my car before. Its small and spacious knowing you don't need to install a seperate amp. Installion made it a lot easier with the free wiring kit it came with.
Pros: Box is very nice, its small, bumps hard, free wiring kit
I had been watching this product for a while before I decided to buy it. I wasn't easily swayed by the numerous 5 star reviews. However, once the price dropped to $100 (with free shipping and wiring kit), I jumped on it. The unit was smaller than I was expecting which was a pleasant surprise. Also, the initial fit and finish seems to be pretty decent. It does have a light that illuminates the interior of the cabinet which can be turned off. However, there is a blue power light on the back of the unit which cannot be turned off. Installation was fairly easy except for passing the power line through my vehicle's firewall. I have the unit attached to my vehicle's aftermarket deck. The sub does have an adjustable low pass filter but I let my deck do that job (set to 80hz). Like other reviewers have said, this sub can make the rear-view mirror vibrate (if you turn it up that high). However, if that is your thing, I would suggest spending the extra $$ for a sub/amp that is made for that. This is a great choice if you are like me in that you just want a sub to round out the low end in your system. I have the unit's gain set to 50% which is more than sufficient for me. The output can get to be a little "boomy" but I think that is due to the fact that I drive a wagon (Pontiac Vibe). If you have a sedan, I think that the output might be a little more "punchy." Overall, I am pleased with the unit and would highly recommend it.
Pros: Attractive case, excellent fit n' finish, and great output.
Put one in my Nissan Rogue to replace the wimpy Bose sub. Love it!
I researched my options thoroughly before choosing the S/O loaded sub. I was not looking for "monster" bass, but just needed to add some balance to compliment the mids and tweets already in my system. It is a perfect match for a simple add-on subwoofer! I installed it in my wifes 1999 Honda Civic, and it's compact size does not take up much of her trunk space. The ease of installation was great, only having to run a few wires from the front to the rear. ALOT better than having to wire a seperate amplifier, as well as not having to find a suitable mounting location for one. The sound was much more than I even required. Now she has the ability to listen to her normal choices of music with an added "punch" to fill out the lows, and she also has the option to enjoy some music that has alot more bass in it with enough hit to rattle the mirrors and really "feel" it. Most of our music is contemporary Christian, and with more Christain rap artists, it's great to be able to "boom" with a higher power in mind! Lol.
Pros: Small space requirements, attractive design, easy to hook up, huge sound capabilities (more than enough to balance out any system, stock or aftermarket).
Pretty great for the price. I used hi level inputs and kept the factory radio. Make sure you tap into both the right and left factory speakers to create a full signal for hi level inputs. I had to max phase and gain on the sub to get sound to be loud. Bass was great at lower volume levels, but as volume increased the sub would reach the limit. For the price this is a great value.
Pros: Cheap, good low volume bass
Great product for the price and also saves the headache of buying amp, sub, box, wiring. (mine came with wiring kit)
Pros: output for 80 watts
have to say for a POWERED Sub that included the Wire Kit from Crutchfield, this really is a very good deal. You can price out the same type Sub many places but they do up a nice package. We looked on YouTube first and it seemed like a good deal. The installation was quick and we put a switch for the Remote On/Off on the dash for coming home late and stop lights with cops. The Sound is good. You do have to play for the best punch. It can get muddy without a tune. The Sub came TRIPLE BOXED. Honestly i think it beats some Subs at twice the price.
Pros: VERY good for the price. Nice sound. Personally the perfect pressure levels where it moves your hair in the back seat but is not that loud outside.
Cons: Just a little muddy. takes time to tune
This is easily a great buy and if your looking to add bass to your system this is a great way to start. But I do think people on here saying it sounds as good as 2 10's or 12's is wrong in my opinion. Being someone who had dual 12's i can say it DOES NOT hit like that, and i feel that people who say it does might not have heard what 2 12's sound like. However, having said that, this sub blows away anything comparable in this size and price range, and the bass does hit hard for a single 8" sub. Plus the added feature of not having to match an amp and box is perfect, and an added wiring kit for around $110 (what i paid) makes it in a league of its own. Plus free delivery, customer support and a 3 year warranty by sound ordnance should seal the deal if your still looking around and don't want to spend $200+. A great buy if your looking to round out your system with some clear hard bass.
Pros: Clear, clean hard bass. Built in amp makes pairing a sub-amp combo unnecessary. Wiring kit included. LED's in box look great and a switch on the back gives you the option to turn it off
Cons: Blue power light on the amp can get bright if you have it in the car instead of in a trunk but doesn't bother me personally, just noticeable. Other than that there is nothing out there as good.
Nice little sub, I bought in when it was only 100 $ with the free wiring harness. Hits pretty hard on the lows, not so much on the highs but its still not bad at all. Bass is clean and clear and sounds nice overall. People say you cant hear it outside the car but i had my car parked outside my house on the street and i could hear it from inside my house. Buy it!
Pros: see above
Cons: nothing really
I do not want to sound like a broken record, but I agree with most of the reviewers on this item.. WOW!! This thing is awesome!! It far surpassed my expectations.. Even after reading all of the great reviews I was a little hesitant, it seemed to good to be true, but trust me, it is worth every penny and then some. I bought this about a month ago when it was $99 plus a free wiring harness and free shipping... and I am so glad I bought it. I am in my mid 30's and I have it in the back of my Subaru Forester.. I listen to all types of music from rock to country to a little rap when I want to hear the sub really kick! I only have the gain half way up on the sub and then use my head unit to control the subwoofer output to adjust how much bass I want for whatever type of music I am listening to. Even with the gain only half way up it is enough to feel it in your chest when listening to rap.. some say you wont hear it outside of your car, but I can from mine, it doesn't carry down the street, but with the windows down the next car over will definitely be able to hear the bass! Anyway, if you are on the fence about this one, stop searching and just get it, you will not be disappointed!!
Pros: Great Bass Output Can't beat the price Free wiring harness Cool LED's in window Easy hookup I can't believe it's only an 8" sub.. WOW!!
Cons: I honestly cannot think of any negatives... GREAT product!!
This is an amazing sub. I'm a teen and I had to turn the bass down because it was too much!! Very impressive. I also found that you can hook up a remote bass control for it, all you do is buy a remote that is universal for RCA them it hook right up! I love the subs. I've referred plenty of people to this website!
Pros: Good price Great sound. Hits all the different bass tones well
How can you guys make any money selling this for this price with the wire kit and free shipping ? wow quality item, even after reading the reviews I was still a little skeptical, not anymore ! I had bought this for my 17 year old son and he couldn't be happier. I think I'll be buying the version that fits under the seat for my truck.
Cons: nothing for the price
I had never heard of Sound Ordnance prior to finding them on Crutchfield. I trust Crutchfield and the products they carry so I decided to give it a try. If you are on the fence about ordering this sub, two words..."DO IT!". I was amazed at the quality and sound of this sub. I thought, for the price, if it sounds like junk, I can sell it and get something more "name brand" but I can tell you after installing this in my 2001 Mustang, I won't be parting with it any time soon!
Pros: Price, size and sound
Cons: No real mounting points, but so far, Velcro seems to be holding it in place in the trunk.
I brought twoo of these subwoofer for my MX6 and even the person that install them was surprize to hear gthe sound that was coming out of these subwoofer even my coworkers even my coworkers where surprize the way these subs sound I'm loving them.
Pros: for the price they are all you want them to be
Cons: no cons here they are perfect
Wow! Great Sound
Pros: Price and Value
Like everyone else has said...there really isn't a thing wrong with this sub. If you were looking for something to shake your teeth out, you wouldn't even think about clicking on this. If you are looking for something to fill that last void you car audio system is needing...then you have found the right product. The price (and free wiring kit), the sound, the performance...it completed my system. I don't listen to rap, or hip hop...besides, if I did, I would be looking at 12" and up. The amp is exactly what this 8" sub needs, I know plenty of people that pair a high performance amp with a sub-par sub, and it clips, sounds distorted, and gets blown. With this unit, there is no guessing...just provide power and rca's from your head unit and you are done. Stop debating, it's $100 that will make your car sound like you spent 5 times that.
Pros: Sounds good, looks good...wiring kit is perfect
Cons: I don't have a duplicating machine to make another one for free.
I wanted a sub that didn't take up a lot of space and still provided some enhancement to my current system. I have a 2009 Prius, so space is indeed limited. Basic amp kit install and 20 minutes later I was adjusting the presets on the head unit then moving to the amp. This small box puts out a clear bass that is often hard for two 10" subs to put out! Like others said, it won't rattle the whole neighborhood or give someone a heart attack, but they will know your there! Great price for those on a budget and you will not be disappointed at all!
Pros: compact design, amp built in, great sound.
This subwoofer is the absolute best bang for your buck. I was looking little better sound for my car because I listen to mainly dubstep and hard rock. This blew my expectations out of the water! This has great power, shakes my car, rattles my ear drums, and hits hard. For something that is only this much, it is an easy jump into better car audio.
Pros: +Cheap +Loud
Cons: -It's making me lose my hearing.
I bought this product in hopes that it would fill out the bass in my music much better than my speakers. I saw the 100$ price tag with free 40$ wiring kit and saw the countless 5 star reviews, it was a no brainer. Install was time-consuming, but a cinch if you do your research and follow instructions. I max out the bass and it pounds!! People are right in that you dont hear it much from the outside, but inside, it hits you. I drive a Mercury Mariner and have it in the trunk. It vibrates my hair and chest. If you are looking to add an EXTREMELY low cost yet EXTREMELY good-sounding bass-maker to your system....look no further. this puppy is it.
Pros: Accurate, BOOMY bass Hits like a 10! Fills low end very nicely LEDs are a nice touch
Cons: No option to switch LEDs off
This is the best subwoofer for my 1997 chevy cavalier couldn't ask for better, now i can have most if not all my base to the sub and I use the low level inputs (RCA cables) from my JVC head unit to power it, I can feel it while driving.
Pros: easy setup
Cons: nothing so far
Great Price. Fast Delivery. This subwoofer packs a punch - great, clean and crisp sound - comparable to the 2 10 inch subwoofers I had in my previous car. I installed this unit in my 2011 Nissan Maxima without any problems. Love this unit so far.
Pros: Compact - looks good with the subtle LEDs - fantastic unit and couldn't be happier only spending $100 dollars for unit, wiring and delivery.
Cons: Nothing - no complaints
OK I'm I missing something here? Where is the bump? I hooked it up to my girls ride and bass was weak! I figured it may be a low end head unit or maybe amp-wire kit, possible wires crossed. So I took it out and hooked it up to my ride and still the same. There is very little bass to this box. Sounds like 12inch?!? Nope sounds like a 8 inch Maxed out
Pros: It lit up inside the box
Cons: distorted weak bass
I am an older guy that loves good, clean bass. If that's what you're looking for instead of shaking the teeth in the guy driving next to you, this fits the bill at a very good price.
Pros: Sound as good as I had imagined
Big sound with an affordable price that helped give my stereo that thump & base were looking for. Most impressive is the site & ease Crutchfield makes easy in ordering. Not only that it was delivered in 2 days. Very impressed & super easy to hook up with the instruction & wiring provided for free. I'm a customer for life. Thank you Crutchfield.
Pros: Sound Ordnance made a great product with a powerful thump you will be pleased with without taking up a lot of space at a great price.
LOVE this sub for the price you cant do any better install was a breeze, still have plenty of room in the trunk. car rattles with gain at 1/4, people will here you. My friend couldn't believe it was only an 8" (He has 3 15") LEDs are sweet but i love LEDs (got them everywhere on my car) free amp kit is a plus but ground is too short, made it work.
Pros: sound install amp kit size Leds price
Cons: length of ground
I drive a 1995 Saturn SC2. I have a Pioneer head unit (DEH-P6200BT) with 4 Alpine SPS-17C2 6.5 inch speakers. This set up worked pretty well but the speakers would distort on the low's a little...just enough to drive you crazy. I took a look at how to add a sub to enhance the bass but couldn't justify spending a few hundred dollars. Then I started looking at powered subs. I almost bought another unit on Amazon that was a few bucks less but needed a wiring kit. Then I found this one on Crutchfield, read the reviews, and saw the price and knew this was the right unit. I placed the order late Saturday night and recieved it via UPS around 4:00PM Monday!! I installed it right away and WOW!!! I don't have to have my music loud but it must be clear. Although some times I like to have both at the same time. I have the volume on the sub set to about 50% and it sounds great with plenty of bass. When set to 100% it would sound great if I was about 16 years old, but I don't need that much bass at age 40+. With this combo my highs are clear, mid's are just right and the low's are solid and booming! I would definatly recommend this unit!! The other major selling point is the 3 year warrenty! I notice that many reviews for some other powered subs commented that they would often fail just past the warrente period (1 year). I figure that 3 years from now I'll probably not be driving this car!
Pros: Great, booming bass! Plenty of volume with no distortion.
Cons: Remote volume control would be nice addition.
I was VERY skeptical about this speaker when I saw the price. But I read the reviews on here and figured that if 100+ people are ALL giving it five stars, it might be worth a shot. This sub gets a five star rating from everybody because it's awesome. I wanted to add some bass to my 1997 GMC Safari van. I've had subs before in different vehicles. I had an Infinity Basslink in a Trans Am that I had. This sub blows the Infinity out of the water. I can't believe that you get all of this bass for the price. I was going to pay up to $600 for a 10" or a 12" sub and amp. I'm sure glad I didn't! You'd be a fool to pass this one up. They even include all of the cables! I didn't have to buy one single thing extra to make this work. Running the cables was a gigantic hassle in my stupid van, but it was well worth it. Other than that, this thing was a snap to set up. I have a Kenwood KDC-BT848U head unit. It is fantastic as well, FYI. I don't know an awful lot about audio and didn't really care to do all of the research to figure out what would be best for my van. My brain is already full. This thing is idiot proof and it sounds amazing. This is definitely one of the best deals in car audio. If it can do this in my monstrosity of a van, imagine what it would do in a car. I might have to order a few more, for future vehicles in case they decide to stop making this one.
Pros: Excellent sound and very easy to set up. Doesn't take up a lot of space. Looks nice too. Even has lights inside it if that's your thing.
Just buy it and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Good price for a real good product
Pros: I love everything about this. It sounds real GREAT!!! Doesn't take up a lot of trunk space in my Acura CL. Sounds real good with the stock speakers. This little 8 has some good bass. Glad I got it when it was on sale with the free wiring kit. Friends were skeptical about it, but were surprised when they heard it.
Completely amazing! Glad I bought this sub woofer
Pros: The reviews are soo correct! I had my friends guess what I had and they thought I have dual 12 inchers! This sub is nuts!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
My goodness!!! so much sound out of a little package! I had just bought a new car and wanted to add some low end sound into my audio. I was used to a 500watt RMS 12" in my last car, so i was very skeptical about stepping waaaay down into an eight inch sub with only 80 watts RMS. Boy was i wrong. Obviously not comparable but very satisfying for the price paid and the sound it produces!!!! Probably wouldn't have gone to this set if i wasn't in a hatchback! Installed on: Scion tC
Pros: Easy Install, Fits almost anywhere, Cool little LEDs that light up inside of box, Big Sound Small Package!
Cons: Visible Wiring to the sub, but because of the way it is set up it has to be like that (Nothing major, just bothered me)
up front, if you are looking to be the high school hero that can be heard a block away, look elsewhere. this sub will not rattle your neighbor's windows and cause old women to faint. what this will do is fill YOUR car with tremendous low end that adds every bit of fullness a human being could possibly need with their music. it will not pulse through your intestines like a pair of 500 watt ported 12"s. you will merely feel it skin deep as it immerses you into the music in a way you never thought possible. i highly recommend this product because it is an absolute bargain, easy to install, and it's everything i ever wanted in a sub. the wiring kit is high quality and gives you everything you need. i absolutely love my B-8P and if i had it to do over, i would buy it again in a heartbeat. to top it off, the crutchfield team of advisers made the entire process quick and smooth helping me to find what was best for my listening preferences.
Pros: small size used minimal trunk space in my alero. price was unbeatable
Cons: the only thing that could have been improved was placing deep blue LED lights in a ring around the acrylic window instead of regular LEDs in the corners. not a big deal, just would look much better. but i'll be in my car, not staring into my trunk.
are you kidding me how do you get so much bass in a small box! Way easy install with kit looks like it was factory.has taken a couple of weeks to set just right.perfect bass.love it!! great price too worth alot more.GO CRUTCHFIELD!
Pros: easy install with the kit, way big bass sound for small size.
