Want to put some bass to your vehicle without a lot of fuss? Sound Ordnance's B-8PTD powered subwoofer is the latest version of the B-8PT, one of our all-time best-selling compact powered subwoofers. Sound Ordnance built this new version to perform even better than its predecessor, putting a cool-running 125-watt amp and a rugged aluminum 8" sub in an extremely compact, solid ABS plastic enclosure,so you get years of bass satisfaction. This all-in-one unit frees you from having to deal with a separate sub, amp, and enclosure, saves you cargo space, and simplifies your wiring requirements. Whether it's mounted under your car seat or in an out-of-the-way location in the cab of your truck, this little workhorse will surprise you with its impressive bass and its ability to mesh perfectly with the rest of your system.
A 125-watt RMS Class D amplifier powers the sub and lives on a compact circuit board mounted inside the enclosure. The sub's stiff 8" aluminum cone holds its shape even when playing hard, helping to keep the lowest notes clean, and ensuring a long life for the sub. You can adjust the low-pass filter, variable phase control, and bass boost to get the B-8PTD sounding perfect in your vehicle. Preamp- and speaker-level inputs allow convenient connection to just about any system, even a factory stereo.
The B-8PTD's tough outer casing of molded ABS plastic serves as the sub's sealed enclosure and can withstand some pretty extreme internal pressure changes with no reverberating or buzzing. Sound Ordnance conveniently located the neat, clean, easy-to-understand controls on one side, opposite all the connections, so you won't get tangled in wires as you tune your bass. The control knobs and switches aren't recessed, so you can make adjustments by hand, without the need for a tiny screwdriver.

Great Bass at a good price. Fits well in a Honda CRZ
Pros: Easy Install, Great Sound
Great sounding unit for an affordable peice.
Very happy with this purchase, for the price this is a great product, easy to install and sounds very good. It's not the bass monster I had when I was a teenager with two 12s and lots of watts, but it adds a nice low end to my truck making my commute much more enjoyable!
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Haven't found any
Finally, second time around. First unit would not put out sound, now have replacement installed, and is working.
Pros: Slim design
Cons: First unit did not work
Great bass in a small package, paired it with retro radio, fosgate sound punch speakers.... WOW!
Pros: Big sound in a small package, fits under seat.
perfect for my Tacoma. i have it turned up halfway and its more than enough bass. doesn't take much space. fit perfectly behind the back seat
Pros: great sounds, perfect amount of bass
great option for a bass-less system that doesn't have a trunk or a lot spare room.
Pros: low profile, fits under most seats
Cons: None that I have found
I installed this in my daughters 2013 Ford Focus. I tried to fit it under the seat but ended up putting it in the trunk. Good bass for what it is. I prefer a little more bass which is why I gave 4 starts instead of 5, but it's great for adding a little thump to the factory radio. Getting the amp power wire inside the car was the toughest part of the whole installation. I had some issues with the factory speaker wire colors but Crutchfield helped me out with that. I've been buying from Crutchfield since the late 90's when I was a teenager. Their service has always been top notch. The installation gear has always been a cut above the rest.
This is a great setup if you're looking to add some bass. It packs some really good sound in a compact case. There's plenty of bass in my Tundra now and I lost very little space with this set up. There's plenty of adjustment to dial in exactly what you want coming out of this speaker. Don't be intimidated by there being adjustments if it's not something you're comfortable with. One call to to Crutchfield and their techs can walk you through just about anything.
Pros: Sounds great, plenty of bass, compact.
Fantastic, Fits under the seat where my factory Sub was located.
Pros: easy to install
Cons: power terminals exposed
This amplified sub-woofer is amazing. Perfect fit for a small space. I have it in a 2005 Nissan Frontier extended cab. It cranks and sounds like you have 2-12" subs then you realize it's just an 8". AMAZING!!!!
Pros: Everything.... sound,size,power, etc.
Cons: I wish I would have purchased this earlier.
Awesome power and sound with this sub. It's size allows plenty of mounting options. I placed it on the back wall of my daughter's 98 ranger. The directions are a little lacking, consisting of mostly pics. I encounters a problem getting power and after hours of frustration and rewiring, discovered that it was the flipping of a single switch that gave me all that grief. I used RCA cables rather than tapping the rear speakers. The switch I was referring to was on auto detect which is the wrong setting for RCA cables apparently. On a whim I flipped the switch and bingo....it powered on. This is the lacking in directions I was referring to. All in all my daughter and I are very happy. For the money you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Sound, power, and size
Great value. Added the punch to the bass that I needed. No car stereo is complete without a subwoofer.
Pros: Great price and sound
Installed this right under the drivers seat in 2002 Jeep Wrangler and it sounds awesome. I don't go past 3 or 4 on the setting because it will blow you out with the windows and doors in. It is quite a bit louder than I expected but it is not a shaker that you feel coming down the street from a block away but more than enough for nice low end and punch . It took about 1/2 hour to install . You custom dial the sound in to how you like it.
Good sound. I was able to slip under the passenger seat of Honda Civic and it has added more sound to the factory system.
Awesome product from the easy installation to the booming sound. It really brought the sound to life in my restored 87 Toyota extended cab pickup. One word says it all "WOW"!
Pros: Price, installation, overall sound!
Cons: None so far.
Installed in my super cab F150 and can barely turn it up past 3 clicks on the remote gain. Wont crack the windshield but adds some very nice bass to the system. Super simple install and sounds great. Cant beat the performance vs the price.
Pros: Sounds great and easty to install
Cons: None that i can see.
This thing is AIGHT. Not bad for the price. However, there's really not much control over the low end. I'm an audio engineer for a living so maybe I'm just spoiled but the frequency controls, EQ, etc all seem to have similar effects and non really clean up the sound or create much of a discernible difference in clarity. This thing is really best listened to at lower volumes IMO. It's a gap filler NOT designed to make the 808s in your rap tracks knock. Taking off another star since there was a situation with the FUSE in the back of the sub and upon installation it simply would not make any sound. After checking and re-checking all my connections I read a review on Crutchfield and discovered that at least one person had trouble with the fuse in the back of the sub. I pulled the fuse and put it back and suddenly.... it works! There's no mention of this in the supplied literature. And the person who left this tip also experienced intermittent loss of sound... so although I'm less than confident in my purchase time may tell whether this was worth the money.
Pros: Fills in bass where there once was no bass at all. Sounds good at low volumes (think maybe 10-25% of it's power).
Cons: Sounds muddy and farty if cranked loud. Fuse issue made installation slightly more complicated than it had to be.
With the right accessories ( purchased from Crutchfield as well ) the installation time was roughly 1 hour. I purchased this for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler as the upgraded dash and soundbar speakers didn't provide enough thump. I placed it under the backseat passenger side seat ( perfect fit ), and the control switch on the center console. The overall sound is perfect for the Jeep. I am very pleased and will continue to use Crutchfield as my "GoTo" for everything car audio. Thanks!
Pros: Sleek size for limited space, great price for great sound, easy installation.
Cons: None that I can think of.
I bought to replace my S/O box in my hatch to save space. The b-8 is powerful and sounds good, but not as good as a box. It has a crisp bass, not a full bass. I took out after two days and put the box back in.
Pros: Compact, easy to install, looks cool
Cons: Does not produce that "full bass" soundCrutchfield response on March 27, 2017 We're sorry you're disappointed with your new sub. Whenever you are not completely satisfied with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.
Awesome sound for the size
Would have been a 5 but the original speaker had an issue the bolts that tighten to secure the wires from the vehicle were stripped out. I called Crutchfield with the problem and they had a replacement in route that day! Replacement installed, workers perfect! Love the ability to control the amount of bass. Had a nice rich sound excellent with the rest of the system installed. This isn't going to make your car rattle but its excellent quality sound!!!
Pros: Ease of installation, Excellent sound (was not wanting loud vibrating bass, I wanted quality sound), compact design, Now my significant other wants one in her Lex
Cons: 1st speaker had stripped out lugs but Crutchfield made it right ASAP.
So far, this powered sub has been a pretty decent addition to my truck. At first, I was using the high level turn on option, but after talking with tech support (which Robert was phenomenal in his help), I switched to the remote turn on via the 12v ignition wire on the Entune radio. The amp is just not sensitive enough to turn on via the high level option until you really crank the volume up. I did run into a noticeable turn on thump/pop while starting the truck up, but added a PAC Tr-7 to the remote wire and programmed it with a 4 sec turn on delay and have no issues with the turn on noise.
Pros: Not expensive, decent quality, speaker level inputs
Cons: High level input turn on not sensitive enough.
Added this to my Pioneer receiver and stock speaker setup in my '05 Saturn VUE. I'm enjoying it, especially with rock music. I placed it under the driver seat, and depending upon the song, I get a nice back massage. I especially like the wired remote for adjusting the bass level. Only problem is that the adhesive on the remote doesn't seem to hold very well, but that can be easily remedied.
Sounds great for a compact powered sub I installed under the frontseat of a 2015 Jeep Wrangler fits perfectly and sounds even better than factory sub
Pros: Price and size
Great bass for the price. I installed in a 2012 ford focus and it fit perfectly under my seat. It was just the right amount of bass.
Sounds fantastic! Super easy to install!
So far so good. It puts out a lot of bass for how small it is. I don't particularly like how it attaches to a base; some built-in brackets would have been better.
So far so good. Installed behind rear seat in a double cab 2015 Toyota Tacoma. Fits nicely into the slot and sounds great even with the seat up over it. I choose this option over the Stealthbox option with 8" sub due to price and space commitment. Happy with the choice so far.
Pros: Size, easy install
Cons: just not the same as a sub, but will do
Great sounds from this compact subwoofer. Great value for the price. Would definitely recommend for small bass nothing huge but perfect for my needs.
Pros: Small compact and sounds great.
Cons: None as of yet.
I purchased this sub at the recommendation of the Crutchfield sales rep. Love Crutchfield and have spent thousands of dollars with them over the last 20 years. This is the first and only time a recommended product fell short. The sub was selected as part of an upgrade system for my son for Christmas for his 2002 Highlander. We replaced the receiver, 8 door speakers and 2 door tweeters. Everything else about the system is incredible, especially for the cost. I have called Crutchfield and they are sending us a new one to swap out. Hope the new one lasts longer than the first. I have a feeling this model is not capable of sustained high volume use but we will see how the new one does. Love the no hassle returns with Crutchfield!!
Pros: Low price, remote volume control, multiple adjustments and low profile.
Cons: Good sound only lasted a couple of months before speaker failed.
Perfect in every way..
I can't really give this a great review, because it hasn't worked properly yet. But the tech support and customer service have been great, and another one is on the way to me.
Great bass from a compact unit, I'm really impressed with the sound from this unit. A very nice compliment to the 4 new Rockford Fosgate P1683's that replaced my factory speakers.
Pros: Fits easily under the rear seat of my super crew cab. Able to control the subwoofer from my Kenwood DPX502, no real need for the remote bass control.
I just installed my Sound Ordnance powered subwoofer under the driver's seat of my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. What a world of difference it made! I previously called upon Crutchfield, and upgraded my front and overhead sound bar speakers (Polk Audio), and a new Sound Ordnance amp. The upgrade made an amazing difference. Adding the subwoofer simply completed my vision for a bold, yet crisp sound! I would have had to pay at least 3x the amount of money to get this same sound quality with any other brand. Why shop anywhere else?
Pros: Best sound quality for the money! Reliable performance. Easy to install.
dident work! lot of time wasted! and $
Cons: check b4 u ship!
Awesome sub to hide away in a truck. Sounds great!
Pros: Fits under seat. Easy install. Sounds awesome.
I really did not have anything to compare this sub to, so the four stars. But DANG! This is the first sub I have had the pleasure to install in one of my vehicles. I usually have the factory set ups. At full bore, this little sub will vibrate the entire cab of my crew cab. Being a bit older I had to turn the sub down. Very impressed. Nice compacted unit fit under the back seat. Good for the cost.
Love it. Makes my factory 1997 f250 speakers sound like a million bucks.
I really wanted to like this sub. Great size, great rating, great price, but at the end of the day, the sound Quality wasn't all that great. I'm a bass player so maybe I'm a little biased, but this thing sounded "cheap". The low end was muddy, boxie and sounded unbalanced, no matter how I adjusted the sub. It reminded me of a "Sparkomatic" sub I had years ago. This was connected to a Kenwood DDX9903 via high grade RCA cables from the sub output so the input signal was clean. I had high hopes for this but ended up sending it back trading it in for the Kicker 11HS8. That's a great little sub. If you have a hang up for extremely good sound quality (not just quantity), keep looking.
Pros: Good Price Main Unit seems well Built Easy Installation
Cons: Cheap Sounding Low End (Muddy, Boxie) Sound shaping adjustments makes little difference. Wire Remote feels cheap.
Amazing....dont look further.
Pros: -cost -sound quality -build quality
Cons: -ive currently got it resting on its weight....the mounting attachments did not seem as good...i prefer to have things bolted down
I am very happy with my Sound Ordnance sub/amp combo! I've got it tucked into the right side of the back hatch area of a 2007 Honda Fit. It is solidly mounted and has a large open air space in front of the speaker. The sound is excellent, it has a good clean punch to it, and it really does kick! It's not a whole car throbbing kind of bass, but it can get pretty deep, and loud and still sounds clear. I have it paired with Focal 130-AS component speakers in the front doors, which are powered by a 75 watt per channel JL amp. The Focals have a good range, and can play deep tones with clarity, and the Sound Ordnance fills in perfectly. The two work well together. I couldn't be happier!
Pros: Excellent sound Integrated system makes hook-up easy
This unit was very easy to install under the front passenger seat. Would have fit under the driver seat but would rather have it further away. The sound is amazing and added a lot more bass to my factory speaker system. Includes a wired remote volume knob that I installed under the dash on right side of steering wheel. Once I got the volume set how I like it, I've had no need to adjust. But it's there if I need to. Called Crutchfield technical support with a question on connecting the blue remote wire to the head unit and wiring harness. The response was quick and questions were answered immediately and correctly.
Pros: Great bass addition; easy to install
Used w/pioneer head unit and stock speakers in a 2001 tacoma. This thing is amazing! Rocks my sons truck. Easy hook up, fits under seat, easy setup to tune bass to car. Sounds like a much bigger setup than it is. Will be getting another for my dodge ram.
Pros: Amazing sound for such a small package
Surprised. After reading some of the reviews I was a little unsure about this subwoofer. I eventually gave it a chance and bought it and I must say I'm so satisfied with it. Great bass boom just what I needed. Not to mention easy install.
Pros: Easy install. Great bass boom
Cons: None at all
Installation was not quite as easy as I would have liked, as the instructions provided were unfortunately severely lacking in detail. Part of the installation hassle was also due to my vehicle (2002 Dodge Intrepid) being a pain to work around, but that's not the fault of the subwoofer. Once I did get everything secured and connected properly, however, I couldn't have been more pleased with the sound that this little guy produced. It is a terrifically hearty subwoofer for it's size and will provide a very satisfying kick to an already good system. Tweaking the EQ knobs is necessary to acquire the potential of the sub, but it doesn't take more than a few tries to get the bass where you'd like it. It's also very easy to place where-ever you like, and takes up very little space. A great subwoofer for it's price.
Pros: Accurate, tight bass reproduction. Great price/quality ratio. Small, light, takes up little space.
Cons: Installation manual is borderline unhelpful. Requires quite a bit of extra wires (which can be purchased separately here on the site).
I was so excited to install this sub in my 17 Accord. Used the line level inputs and tapped the connector directly behind the head unit, soldier with heatshrink... the works. When I first turned on the audio, sound started flowing from the car speakers and the sub's red power light came on... yea! But hey... no sound... what the heck? Powered off, back on .. red light comes on but still no sub activity. Crank it to 75% and still not sub. So while the car audio is on, I pull the fuse from the sub body and pop it back in.. and now we are rockin! I think, ok... weird... but ok. Well not so much. Randomly, some trips, the sub refuses to come one, and some it will. I don't by the response that some audio systems are not powerful enough to trigger it. The power light does come on. I pulled the fuse again and reinserted, at a point in that process I felt it come one.. but still no permanent fix. Very disappointing because when it was working, it was the perfect compliment to the factory Accord audio. I was in love for a day... too bad.
Pros: Perfect compliment to factory Accord audio Nice tidy under seat fit Sweet price for the sound performance Cool remote - installed nicely in blank accessory slot next to econ button.
Cons: Intermittent operation Poor component quality, Guess you get what you pay for.
it's easy to install and it sounds great, nothing more to say.
Pros: ADJUSTABLE REMOTE
Had a problem with using this with a low powered factory head unit which couldn't be replaced with an aftermarket unit (Infiniti integrated dash) Crutchfield tech dept was right there to help! The problem was solved with an inexpensive line out transformer in the signal input line. All that said, this little sub is GREAT! Wife says there's lots of BoomBoom in her ZoomZoom! I was able to install this underseat sub under the back deck AND was able to reinstall the trunk partitions! Looks great!
Pros: Fantastic bass addition for minimal bucks! Small enough to fit just about anywhere. All in one compact package.
Cons: You'll be hooked on sound improvements....may lead to massive cash outlay!??
Holds up anything you can throw at it with no distortion. Very impressive for a single 8" works perfect for trucks.
Le da un bajo increible.... se escucha muy bien... Produces incredible bass..sounds really good.
Cons:Crutchfield response on January 24, 2017 Translation provided by Crutchfield's International Sales & Support team.
Nice little upgrade to get some thump. It won't vibrate the coffee at the red light but does give a nice boost to the low end of your system. The only down side is that the adhesive behind the metal face (both ends) isn't bonding. It continues to lift of the unit....but....nothing a little superglue can't fix!
This was exactly what I was looking for. The sub fits easily under the driver's seat of my '06 Mazda 3 (plenty of room on the sides with approx. 1" to spare above). I needed pro assistance in running the power wire through the firewall, but was able to do the remaining wiring myself. The sub sounds perfect (very loud and still clear) with my system. I have 40W RMS Pioneer door speakers plus Infinity tweeters all running through a Kenwood head unit -- no amp -- (all purchased through Crutchfield). It's not a competition system, but is very good and the subwoofer sounds great and has the ability to completely overpower it. It provides a great low end with more than enough punch in my small car.
Pros: High expectations - met all of them.
Great product, but what are people setting the controls to, given that each cab size is different what is a good starting point.
Pros: Perfect for under the seat of a Silverado
Cons: None so far
This thing was the perfect solution for my needs. Easy install in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I have the Sahara model with flip forward seats. It will NOT fit under them. After reading some reviews saying that's where they put theirs. They must have the standard seats. I mounted it in the back cargo (if you can call it that) space. Paired it with a Kenwood deck and I'm amazed at how great they sound. The remote is awesome for quick tuning for different genres. I listen to everything from Alice in Chains to Johnny Cash to Eminem. Just a twist of the knob and it's dialed in. I installed everything, deck/sub by myself in about an hour and a half. It would have been nice to have a hand pulling the power wire through the firewall but I managed. ???? to Sam my Crutchfield advisor for recommending this set up. I also recommend Crutchfields pre wired harness. This service rocks. When I ordered my system Sam mentioned this and what I time saver. They even opened the amp wiring kit and connected the necessary wires for it. #crimpingainteasy written on the package. You're going to have to buy a new harness anyway, why not let the professionals do it right the first time for $20 all included. If you want that full sound that makes the music come alive, buy this thing. You will not be sorry you'll wish you'd done it sooner.
Pros: Incredible sound Easy install All in one
Cons: Doesn't fit under Jeep TJ flip forward seats.
Awesome sub, fits under my seat, easy install, great sound in my reg. Cab truck!
Pros: Easy install, great sound
This subwoofer offers very good bass sound for the money and for its small size. It fit nicely behind the passenger seat of my MGB roadster, and it was fairly simple to install. The included remote control knob is very convenient for making quick adjustments of the desired bass level, particularly when mixing various artists and genres.
Pros: Very good sound for size and price. Convenient remote level control.
Extremely easy to install and the sound is better than expected! My son and I installed this under the driver seat of his 2001 Toyota Tacoma along with JBL Stage speakers front and rear. Total time was about 4 hours. I love the sound we get from such a small package. The best review I can give is to say that when were finished, my son spent almost 2 hours just sitting in his truck listening to music. He absolutely LOVED the sound!!
Perfect subwoofer for under passenger seat, completed sound system w Alpine head unit and front/rear Infinity speakers. Installed in Subaru Impreza WRX wagon. Install better left for professional
Great sound, size and price. Added to my sons SUV and provided plenty of bass and power to provide exactly what we were lacking. Fits perfectly under the seat and was super easy to install.
To Quote the 20 something member of our family that know car audio " this is 5X better than expected"
Great setup with the new Alpine Head Unit. This Unit does not rattle the doors off, but bass blends Very Nice with the Head Unit
Pros: Awesome unit. Easy install, and really blends the bass to the music.
Fills in the lows reasonably well. I would prefer a 10 inch sub in this overall size but that is asking a lot. This provided the largest speaker that I could fit under the front drivers seat of our 2013 Subaru Outback.
Cons: Frequency response could be a little better. I would expect an 8" to go down to closer to 30hz.
Installed in my 2015 CRV with previously had an underwhelming system. This is such a large improvement, I can't believe I didn't do it earlier! I used the line-level inputs with the stock stereo and upgraded front speakers. The remote level control installed wonderfully in an existing switch location, everyone thinks it looks stock! Good sound improvement for a great price. Thanks for another great shopping experience Crutchfield!
Pros: Value, Size, Ease of installation
Cons: Lack of mounting options
I really wanted to like this unit- Good specs, decent reviews the right size and seemingly well made. Unfortunately, two in a row were confirmed to not work with speaker level inputs despite the stated ability for such. Voltage readings were taken on both incoming power and speaker level power and all were normal, yet neither would turn on. They did, however, turn on when tested with RCA line level inputs coming from an old stereo. Unfortunately, in my application I do not have RCA inputs, so.......... On the plus side, Crutchfield was honest- they said a number of these units need a surprisingly high level of speaker signal to turn them on. After a discussion with the Rep., we agreed on an Alpine unit, which although twice the price appears to also be twice the quality. Fine by me. If your unit turns on and you're OK with the sound then by all means get one. For me, however, the quality just isn't there. Vividly illustrates why I've bought from Crutchfield for 30+ years. Never the cheapest, but great customer service.
Pros: - Price - Size - Specs - Crutchfield support
Cons: - Multiple defective units - Tendency to require ridiculously high speaker levels to turn on
Was a nice upgrade for my f150 super cab. Very EZ to install.
Pros: Good sound EZ install
Great sound. Don't expect it to bang though.
Pros: Good small speaker.
Cons: Should know what your doing instructions are poor.
I purchased this on Black Friday sale. I've never owned a subwoofer, but have watched online videos on what was needed to install before my purchase. I had purchased an installation kit from a box store about a year ago. The manual for the subwoofer states that it requires 10 gauge wire, the kit I purchased had an 8 gauge wire, and it did fit nicely. I wanted to install the subwoofer under the seat of my '94 Tercel, but it turns out the seat has in indentation towards the middle that prevents the subwoofer from fitting in. So then I had to mount it in the trunk, I cut a piece of plywood, and attached the subwoofer between the plywood, and the back of the back seat. I spray painted black the trunk side of the plywood. I pulled the power wire on the passenger side, and the signal wires on the driver's side. I pulled the remote wire under the center console. All in all the installation wasn't so bad, as the car itself is pretty simple without a lot of paneling etc. Now, for testing, I turned it on. And. Nothing. Pulled out the voltmeter, and the voltage was there, but no sound! The fix was that I had to put the slide switch to the right position!! But I still wasn't hearing much base! So what I ended up doing, I turned the subwoofer controls to the maximum, and I'm now using the remote to control the base level. I never had to turn it all the way up! So I'm very happy and pleased with the subwoofer, and next time it goes on sale I will most likely purchase one more!
Pros: small and compact, relatively high wattage compared to competitors, nice sounding!
Bought wholly on the recommendation of Crutchfield experts, the B-8PTD does everything that was recommended and then some. The sound stage created inside my cabin is thick and luscious, effortlessly communicating all my music's details in full glory. Unfortunately, the only bad thing about getting this unit installed is that it now shows me how poor my music files are.... since anything that is of mediocre quality will not be hidden by the system with this unit. I am very happy with the product.
Pros: power, definition, control and overall reproduction of sound feed.
Great sound, easy to install, like the compact design
It' actually pretty good for its size. Mine is in the trunck of my Altima. So, I am loosing some effect due to that. So with that configuration I get a medium amount of low bass to supplement the music. I like having the volume knob to adjust the strength. I put the base up beside the rear quarter panel so it is totally hidden under the carpet. I could play with the adjustment but it seems I would like it to produce a tighter bass.
Pros: Size, volume knob
Cons: Not as tight bass perhaps.
Installed this in an F150 right next to the S.O. amp. Behind the back seat. Have not had a problem with it or the amp. Adds a lot of low range but dont expect it to rattle the windows. Well made gear for the price.
Pros: Easy to install. Decent sound. Well built.
Cons: A little underpowered. Bulky.
Sounds great just what I wanted for my car.
Pros: small size, big sound more than enough to fill a standard size car.
Cons: none so far.
This sub has a great sound specially for the price you pay for it. Can't beat it I will be getting another one.
Cons: Hard to find place to mount in Toyota Tacoma 06 model.
The sound is decent, but I have had Two of these die on me in under a year. Not built to last. I'm very unhappy with this purchase.
Cons: poor quality
Great addition to my aftermarket system. Easy to install and fills the Quad Cab of my Dodge truck with plenty of depth.
For the price this unit delivers good value and pairs well with my head unit delivering around 20 watts to my full range speakers. I believe if I added an amp to my full range however this would need to be upgraded
Pros: Tight clean sound
Cons: may not be able to keep up with growth in the rest of the system
Installed in my 04 xl7 with using my stock speakers. Placed my sd B-8PTD back seat. My xl7 is lit..... sounds great like expensive system
Plenty loud for the size. Great price for the product. Only downfall is does not hit on the low end like most subs but overall a great product for a stock system. Easy to install
good addition to a medium grade system. so if you're looking for heart pounding bass, buy a bigger unit. super easy to install.
excellent sounding sub.imo it sounds just as good as kicker and kenwood.would go with again.easy to install with it's smaller size, but don't let the smaller size fool you,put out great amount of bass.bought and installed 2. wow what great output.won't blow your neighbors away but has great thumping.imo that's all you need.get it and find out.will not be disappointed.installed under both front seats in my jeep jk 4 door
Pros: can install anywhere.and out of sight
I have a 2014 Nissan Frontier King cab truck and this was the perfect subwoofer for it. It fits nicely under the drivers seat and it gives me plenty of decent low end in that small cab. It certainly won't hit those low 20 hz notes but it is more than adequate for an 8" self contained powered subwoofer. I'm 47 and don't need my head put through the windshield from a 15" sub. It fills in where the 6x9 Alpines in the doors leave off. I recommend this to anyone that just wants some nice punch and low end added to their factory system.
Had this installed for me in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. I was hoping it would fit under one of the front seats, but no go (too tall ). Instead, placed it on the back lift cover. It is secure (brackets that came with unit are screwed thru the lift which is secure when door is closed. Snug enough not to be able to get fingers under to lift out- thinking about theft when top is off). The sounds is doing what I wanted it to - give a "fullness" sound. Gives a little thump, but nothing shattering. The bass control knob is nice to have to easily increase or decrease bass (verses navigating the stero for the equalizer).
Pros: Good sound, amp/speaker all in one
Cons: Didn't fit under seat
Sound Ordnance dropped a bomb on my car! I bought this as an open box for $125 and installed in my 2010 mazda 5 under the passenger seat. For the size and price this thing is amazing! No you will not drive by 7-11 and shake the twinkies off of the shelf... Yes you will enjoy deep rich music not afforded by factory car systems. Coupled with my JVC head unit, I am a Crutchfield customer for life!
Pros: Size, sound quality
it's a great product, exactly what i was expecting and very easy to install!
Very good clean amp that drives speakers hard for the moey
Pros: Price Preformance
This is my 2nd purchase of this item. One in both trucks. The perfect amount of thump to round out the sound.
Pros: Easy to install, Fits easily under seat, Great sound
I had this for a little over 2 years with no issues and sounded great when it worked. Just a few months ago started to work intermittently. Checked all connections had power to them, fuse was ok and ground was tight. Called once and the guy was not able to help much but it did start to work while on phone with him but cut out again a few days later and said call back if not working again. Well now cannot get it to work at all. This was my first compact subwoofer and last buying Sound Ordnance. Very disappointed lasting only over 2 years. I thought it would last much longer and I am not a heavy user on it. Bass sounded great when working.
Cons: Stopped working after little over 2 yearsCrutchfield response on October 11, 2016 After seeing Gil's review, one of our Tech Support Specialists is reaching out to him and let him know that his Sound Ordnance powered sub came with a 3-year warranty. So, we'll help guide him through the warranty process, so he can get his subwoofer working again.
I was amazed at the sound that this well consructed compact unit produced, it well exceeded my expectations in many ways, fit into the only secluded or hidden area i had, see I was trying for a stealth system in an antique vehicle but was really limited to what I can do 4" speakers were the only size that would fit so after listening to the system it was missing something I needed to figure this out and what to use I went on line and sure there were tons of this type of unit some were really cheap and the looked it, i decided to use this unit one as it was priced in my price range ( Crutchfields price was the best I could find) two the mounting dimensions once powered up it added a crisp clean bass tone to complete the somewhat tinny empty soulless sound of the small speakers and truly completed this system.
Pros: Almost infinitely adjustable from soft and supple to filling dropping, high and low inputs make the unit adaptable to any application, ruggedly constructed yet nice to look at, plenty of other adjustments to tune in what you are looking for, even impressed my 16 year old who now wants one in her car. versitle mounting, compact design, impressive profrmance
Cons: I have yet to fine any
I bought this for my husband's 2006 GMC Sierra extended cab. He gives the following review: Once installed, this speaker is a great way to add depth to a rather minimalist system in a tight space. It easily fits under the rear seat. Installation is just like any other amp. If you've done it before or know anything about it, it's not bad. Just watch a how-to video online for your particular vehicle. Like any amp, it took me a while to get the gain and phase levels right. Having the remote level knob is a nice feature if you listen to a lot of different types of music. Overall, I'm very impressed with the bass output of this sytem given the price and size. For not too much, and over the course of a couple of years, I replaced all factory speakers with Pioneer, replaced the head unit, added bluetooth speakerphone, and added this sub. I sold my factory head unit for more than it cost to put in a decent single din unit.
Pros: Easy install. Good controls and features. Clear sound. Compact. Remote control. No ugly LED lights illuminating your vehicle at night. Does not knock your heart valves loose.
Cons: It's not a large wooden box dual sub sound.
This unit is just what I was looking for to add to my classic car audio system. Fits under the bench seat, nice and tucked away and gives a nice punch to otherwise dull sounding music. I didn't install the bass control as I didn't want to add any gadgets to my dash, I pretty much just set all controls midrange and left it as is. So far the sound sounds good, and I am happy with the quality of this little woofer/amp combo.
Pros: Easy to install, small size to fit under seats, Nice sound
Cons: I don't care much for the mounting brackets, the mounting points should be part of the enclosure. Limited bass due to small size, but I wasn't expecting to break any windows!
This little guy really filled out the factory stereo in my chevy spark. Use the remote wire. The instructions are unclear and/or maybe the spark stereo just didn't put out enough power to turn the sub on. I love it!
Pros: Inexpensive but quality
Cons: Slightly unclear instructions
easy to install good sound space saver happy good buy
I wanted to love it, but it turns out that price and convenience only go so far. I read the positive reviews and went for it, but I don't completely agree. Sound quality is really just ok. Actually it's barely good enough for my taste. The last sub I ran (in another vehicle) was also an 8" in a small box (which I built to fit my car), but without the integrated amp. That unit had punch and no detectable distortion, until it started clipping at a very high volume. I've had to adjust the bass way down for this unit, as it distorts, seemingly, very easily. Maybe I just don't have it tuned correctly, so I play with it some more and change the rating accordingly.
Pros: Small Cheap Easy
Cons: Sound quality matches price
Great sound for the size. Good powerful Base and easy to install.
Pros: Compact size.
Cons: None at this time.
This is a great little sub. It fills the bottom end for pretty much all the music I listen to including classical, jazz, country, rock, and some bluegrass. It's paired with two coaxial Polk Audio 6.5" and two Kicker 6" x 9" coaxial three ways. The head unit is a Kenwood DDX 392 installed in a Ram 1500 regular cab. More may be needed for a larger cab, but this is awesome. I would not recommend it for those who crank maximum volume and want to share their hip hop with neighbors. I suspect the unit would max out and blow, but for me it is perfect!
Pros: Performance for price, easy install, tight sound when needed, booms when needed.
Cons: Not for those who want the car to vibrate and share bass with others going down the road.
The Sound Ordnance powered subwoofer was easy to install and compact. The bass that comes from this small package is better than expected. Would recommend this product for the money.
Pros: Easily set up Good Sound
A lot more than I expected! It's not going to deafen you or shake your vehicle with the bass but it fills out the sound very nicely. I don't know how it would sound in a trunk, I have it under the passenger seat of a crew cab F250.
Pros: Price Sound
i love this product, sounds great
Great sound in a small unit! Just what I needed to add a little to my Jeep Wrangler so I can hear the tunes with the top down. Easy install with the included wiring kit from Crutchfield!
Pros: Great Sound, Great Price!
Cons: Have to tap into the factory harness if you're hooking it up to a factory system. Not really a negative just something to be aware of.
Simple to install and wire. This subwoofer fit perfectly inside my 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ center console to replace the original factory subwoofer. Price at this site was fair and shipping was EXCELLENT! Customer response time was impeccable (ordered another item by accident) it was taken off my order quickly and hassle-free! Will buy from this company again!
Pros: Compact, good sound, comes with its own amplifier.
Cons: A little low for my tastes (it won't rock your eye-sockets). But at this price the quality can't be beat.
Amazing quality lots of bass for a small package
Pros: Easy and compact
Cons: Should have ordered sooner
I typically do not write reviews on products, but I felt inclined to do so with this purchase. I installed this powered subwoofer in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - 4 door. Like most people who drive Jeeps, I was not satisfied with the factory system sound. This was a great addition. The sound was exactly what i was looking to add to the existing factory system. Fit perfectly under the front passenger seat. I like the ability to make adjustments between different styles of music with the bass control switch. Installation was straight forward. Only issue I faced was that when i connected to the speakers wires, evidently there was not enough signal to turn on the unit. I ended up running a remote wire from a switched fuse for unit to turn on. Besides that, perfect product for what I was looking for. Crutchfield was great for sales and technical questions when I was looking to purchase product.
Pros: Great price, easy installation, good sound addition to a factory system, bass adjustment switch
Cons: Had to run a remote wire even though it was advertised as not needing one. Not a deal breaker, could have been isolated to my vehicle.
Great product. Fast shipping. Installation was a snap. The sound coming from this woofer is phenomenal. I've bought Sound Ordnance woofers before and was not afraid of buying this one. I installed it in a Ford F150 under the back seat. It fits perfectly. Not a big thumping speaker but the perfect amount of bass to fill out the sound coming from the Kenwood head unit. It is everything I was hoping for and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compact powered speaker.
Pros: Small size. Great sound. Sturdy build.
Bought this one to replace the last unit I had which was stolen, West Oakland should have figured. Installing in same car and will likely purchase another for a 91 alltrac wagon I'm building that only has room for 4" speakers and needs some bass.
Pros: Big sound little package. Added dial control is a plus for different types of music. Simple install, clear sound.
Cons: Only need just over 3" clearance to mount, but still too tall to mount under the seats in my gen 1 Tundra or gen 2.5 Montero.
Have had this sub for a couple of weeks now and I listen to mainly hip-hop; this sub does not hit as hard as a conventional subwoofer set up but it will definitely add some decent bass depth to your sound system. If you're looking for something that won't break the bank that'll give you decent bass, I'll recommend this.
Pros: For the price, will add good bass depth to your system.
Cons: Doesn't hit as deep and hard as other subs.
Of the several sub installs I've done so far, this was by far the easiest. No speaker wires, no matching the amp and sub. Perfectly straightforward, especially with the EFX 4 gauge wiring kit! And amazing sound that beats my friends expensive professionally installed system!
Pros: Compact. Easy to install. Fits under seat.
Amazing sound. Fits under the seat. We changed out the stock radio to an inexpensive JVC and reasonably priced Kicker speakers. Definitely recommend this product.
Pros: Small footprint. Fits under the seat. Great sound and clarity. No distortion at high volume.
Cons: Use a pro to install. We installed the speakers but the wiring was difficult on the subwoofer. We had the radio and subwoofer and they did an excellent job.
The Sound Ordnance powered subwoofer is a perfect addition to a vehicle with an original head unit and upgraded speakers. It added the perfect amount of base for what I was looking for.
Pros: Simple installation, great sounding.
Cons: Better way to mount the base adjusting knob.
Wired it up by the book. Ran fine for 6 months. Blew the inline fuse on the 12V power wire. Unit stopped working.
Installed in a 2014 Ram 1500 Mega Cab. First off, there is nowhere to put it. It doesn't fit in the storage bins under the back seat, which is where I had hoped to place it. It also would not fit under the front seats(power seats, lots of wiring). So, the default location was on the transmission tunnel just aft of the center console. So, it's right out in the open, where I didn't want it. Other than that, it sounds pretty good and I like the "remote" gain control, and find that I use it a lot since I listen to many different types of music, and need to adjust often. Oh, and the unit would not turn on from the speaker leads. I had to run a remote wire to the fuse box.
Pros: Inexpensive, decent sound and volume for a small speaker.
Cons: Could not get the unit to turn on from the speaker leads; had to run a remote wire.
I decided on this powered sub after researching and reading several reviews. I've only had 10 inch and 12 inch subs before so I was somewhat skeptical if I would like the sound of an 8 inch. I won't be winning any competitions with this but that was not my intention. With that said I am extremely satisfied with this product. Especially considering the low cost
Pros: Ease of installation, quality of sound and low-cost
Cons: If you're after window shaking base, this is not what you want
So, I had a kid. I had to sell my Acura Integra and buy something a little more Dad-ish. I bought a Subaru Forester. Anyone that knows Subarus, knows the stereos in them are atrocious. I didn't want to put a sub in my trunk, because that would be defeating the purpose of my Dad-wagon. I had the Sound Ordnance B-8P in my Integra and was happy with that. I was a bit skeptical about the underseat subwoofers. I mean really, how could something that small sound even remotely decent, especially stuffed under a seat. I dropped it off at my installer, thats been in business for 30 years. He calls me 3 hours later to come pick up the car. When a guy that has that much experience in car audio says "Im actually shocked how good this sounds", you know you made the right choice. For the price, you cant beat it.
Pros: Best bang for the buck.
Cons: Low end bass isnt great, but Im not trying to blow ear drums, so who cares?
For the money plenty of low end Coupled with JVC head unit, kickers in the front and Pioneer in the rear. Like the adjustable remote. Improves the sound 100%
Pros: Size , Adjustability
Cons: None that would matter
I listen to mostly rap and reggae and the factory system in my Ford Escape didn't provide enough on the low end. You can't beat it for the price and size. I needed something that would fit under my driver's seat (no room anywhere else and I didn't wanna lose trunk space) so I got this. The bass is a little hollow for my liking. I don't know if that's because I'm used to 2 12 inch subs and a 1000 watt amp in a trunk. And being that it's speaker level in the bass always changes with the volume of the radio. Luckily it comes with the remote knob. When I turn up my radio I have to adjust the sub as well. I'm sure that wouldn't be an issue if you used RCA inputs but for my application that wasn't possible. All in all it's a good sub and I would buy again. I just recommended to my coworker so he could get more bass in his new car.
Pros: Price! having the remote right next to me is a life (and ear) saver. size is great, fit right under my drivers seat.
Cons: bass is a little hollow. still tinkering with that using the controls on the amp. being that it's speaker level instead of RCA (available on the amp but not applicable to me) the level of bass changes with the volume of the music when i turn it up so i have to adjust both radio and sub.
Hey. want to add a little thump to your system look no further. This thing is great. Not a competition sub by any means, but if all ya want is to add some nice bass to a factory replacement system this is the thing. I put it in the back of my extended cab silverado p/u . Now My wife is on me to put one in her ride.
Pros: Great little sub. Install wasn't to bad just follow directions. I just like this alot.
I put a new head unit in my 08 Honda Ridgeline (Pioneer 4200NEX, which is also fantastic). when i replaced the OEM head unit i also lost the OEM subwoofer, so I got the Ordinance to replace it, without going crazy on a sub, filling up too much of the back seat row. It claim to be an "under the seat model", but it doesn't quite fit completely, but it does tuck mostly out of the way. they give you the option of velcroing it down, which i tried first, thinking it would be easier to remove if i need to load the truck up, but I ultimately screwed it down which made an amazing difference to the sound. It vibrates the car! comes with a remote gain control which i have on the dash, so i don't have to go through menus to adjust it. I have the radio equalization profile set to "voice" for talk shows, then turn up the sub when listening to tunes. a great purchase for the money. I made the cable harness with some slack so i can move the unit to the passenger seat without disconnecting anything, simply by removing the 3 of the 6 mounting screws, if i need the room on the floor for cargo. another review said the gain control didn't do much. if you increase the gain out of the head unit and/or the 10dB gain adjust on the sub, the gain control will do plenty! It's not earth shattering base, but did restore the OEM sub function that i lost
Pros: great sound in a small package, lots of on-unit controls and a remote gain control
Cons: doesn't quite fit under the seat but not a big deal.
Like other reviews have said, this is not trunk rattling bass. It does do a good job of filling out the sound. The gain knob doesn't seem to do much. This is great for an open air cabin vehicle like a small truck or hatchback. It sounds great in my 2001 Mercury Cougar. I have some component speakers in the door and this sub and it makes a world of difference.
Pros: Discreet / easy to hide Compact / small Adds fullness to sound Takes a load off the door speakers so you get more volume out of the system
Cons: It's not more power than you need?
Was pretty decent in my pick up but it died in about a year
Pros: Good for small cars or pickups
Cons: Only lasted a year
Nice compact and easy to install. I liked how the subwoofer was able to fit under the the rear seat of my Avalanche. I wouldn't call this a great sounding sub but I would say that it sounds good
Cons: Not big enough to have a great thumping bass
Sound Ordnance B-8PTD Sub Woofer stop working on the same day when installed by Crutchfield. The electronics inside this unit burned it's self out. The unit drained my batter over a few days. I had to disconnect it from the battery and recharge my battery. It was a big inconvenience for me. Possible damaged done to my new system.
Pros: Worked great for 90 minutes.
Cons: Stopped working and over heated.Crutchfield response on August 3, 2016 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to help Howell. We'll either help him get the powered sub working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
Good tight bass that fits in a tight space under the car seat, but really delivers the sound and power to round out all genres of music..
Pros: size and sound
Cons: None for my use
Like (seemingly) everyone else that reviewed this sub, I can't say enough good things about it. -I replaced the stock system in my Taco with JBL speakers and a Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS receiver. Sounded amazing but was lacking that extra oomph I wanted. I wasn't looking to have a system that I could enter into competitions, and I didn't want something that the neighbors could hear as I came down the street. Just wanted to round out the sound and give it some depth. I also wanted a powered sub because I didn't want to deal with installing amps in the limited space I have in the truck. -I considered JBL's 8-inch powered sub and then saw the Sound Ordnance. Talked to a Crutchfield advisor (love those folks!) and asked what the difference was (aside from the price). Without hesitation, he said there isn't a difference and there was no reason why I should spend the extra money for the JBL (altho it's a great product, too). -So, went for the Sound Ordnance and, holy amazing sound, Batman! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. After a couple of days of tuning, it really is astonishing how well this thing has supplemented my system. I listen to everything and no matter if it's Slayer, Beastie Boys, Led Zeppelin, Thelonius Monk ... it all sounds awesome. Can't recommend this sub enough!
Pros: Great price, amazing sound, easy to install.
Cons: VERY minor quibble ... the Velcro strips that came with the sub's installation kit were only hooks (no hoops) so they were useless. Overall, though, no big deal.
Works awesome for me! Easy and fits great under the back seat. Will not fit under fonts. Flinty of great sound though!
Pros: Price is low enough. But sound for hard rock is good!
Very easy to install. Sounds good for the cab of the truck. Fit under the drivers seat.
Pros: Easy installation. Fits under drivers seat.
The day my brother bought one was the day I knew that when I got a car I was going to get one. I'm quite surprised at how much bass is in this little sub. The installation was simple and fit under my driver's seat. If you're looking for a sub that won't break the bank, sounds good, and won't add too much bass, then this is the subwoofer to buy.
Pros: Easy to install Sounds good Not too much bass Small Fits under my driver's seat
I was skeptical of this brand but I'm very happy I made the decision. Excellent bass for my listening pleasure which is heavy metal. I thought instructions were fine. Just make sure you have a good ground.
Pros: Awesome bass for a small package!!!!
Perfect for adding a little bass to your sound system, without taking up much room at all. Fits perfectly under the driver's seat.
Pros: Sound quality.
Cons: Build quality.
This is an awesome sub. It fills in the sound perfectly without angering the neighbors. Really added to the overall sound quality.
Pros: This fills in the sound. You won't break your eardrums. It is small and easily fits below the seat.
Cons: The bass doesn't shake the car.
This is an amazing unit! For only it being 8" it really packs a punch. I didn't realize just how much music I was missing.
Cons: Adjusting levels is a bit difficult if you don't know what you are doing. But...I'm figuring it out.
This is a good sub. If you are a bass player and need to hear the actual sound of the bass and not just the pitch, this sub does the job very well. Like any sub, even after finding a middle ground, the crossover needs to be adjusted for some tracks. Such as 2097 from the wipeout XL ost. Very small, very durable, no noise from the unit itself, comes with mounts. Not for the oldschool rap muffled trunk sound. But still great for rap as well.
Pros: Small, clear sound, loud enough for more than comfortable listening volume inside a vehicle, good crossover, no cone distortion or surround distortion sound, RCA type inputs and normal speaker level inputs (with adapter), 2 mounts. After running wires through your car, it is easy to install. Very loud for the cost.
Cons: Need to buy power, ground, remote power wires. If not mounted, it slides all over the car before anything else does. Super low notes will be quiet compared to normal bass unless you adjust your crossover(s) sub and head for that track.
This fills my trucks cab with bass. Sounds great!
Pros: Awesome bass
Cons: Now I need better mid and high range speakers.
I bought this to replace my stock sub in my Honda Ridgeline. It is paired with a Jensen head unit. It fits under my back seat and I could have installed it under any seat due to its size. It has a sound a bit better than my stock unit did. It does not have the thump of a much more expensive unit just a nice solid low end. Wiring was simple and it works but its not included so you have to purchase an install kit but that is discounted and the kit made it real easy to install. I needed a splitter to get the mono sub output to connect to the two inputs on the sub. Very nice for the price.
Pros: Small, great price, sounds good' installs easily
Cons: No wiring included
Great add in sub. Exception value for the money
Pros: easy hook up. Nice addition to a stock system
Cons: Still a box to hide or disguise
While this may look like the Poor Man's sub, its quality and sound will say different. I installed it in about 4 hours and the process was made vastly easier by the removal of the drivers seat. The bulk of the time was taken up snaking the power, audio-pair and "on" wire through the center console area. I opted for the Rockford Fosgate wiring kit and its power, audio and grounding leads were perfect although you'll do yourself a favor by purchasing some 10AWG spade lugs, which fit the unit perfectly. My intent was to install the unit under the passenger seat but Toyota has a subassembly underneath, which prevents positioning the unit completely. My solution was to install the unit laterally and just rearward enough to allow fold-down of the rear seat platform. Whether the platform is up or down does not detract from the unit's power one iota. I will also mention the mounting brackets that came with the kit were pretty much useless and in the end, I attached the 2 male Velcro strips that were provided. They mate perfectly with the vehicle's carpet and prevent any unwanted movement. If you're looking for a lower-cost 8-inch powered subwoofer that sounds great, I highly recommend this unit.
Pros: Cost Sound Relative ease of installation
Cons: Mounting brackets that are provided
Added just the amount of low end for me, plus, being adjustable, it will work for a variety of tunes and tastes
Pros: Just right for me
Cons: None found
This subwoofer blew my mind. The price, sound and quality of this tiny sub makes it more than worth it.
Pros: Easy install
Really like the sound this little beauty puts out. Why 4 stars? The instructions are worthless. Could not get the thing to work. Several calls to tech support really not much help. Spent time reading the previous reviews to find the answer. Here is the bottom line. If you are going to tap into your speaker wires (stock head unit) and use the high power input, the amp may not detect the incoming signal and turn on automatically. Wiring to both rear speakers seemed to make the thing turn on occasionally, maybe more signal to detect. So if no luck using the high power input option, which I would try first, then go right to the RCA input option. In my case, tech did not tell me this, I got it from all the kind people who wrote useful reviews. How to fix? 1-get an add-a-fuse, put it in a 10 amp fuse in your fuse box, and run a remote wire from the fuse box to its hookup in the back of the unit, I put mine in the ignition fuse, so it is only on when the truck is on 2-get a line out converter and tap into the the speaker wires as before (I used quick splice connectors), make sure to respect proper polarity 3-now hook the rca cables from LOC to rear of unit and flip the front switch to remote. Should work now. Got all parts locally, but have seen them at the local car retail store, the local big box store, and of course right here at Crutchfield if you can wait . First install, really pretty easy, once I figured it out, but could have saved several hours with good directions or tech support.
Pros: Sounds great
Cons: Terrible directions
Overall gives a nice punch for such a small compact speaker, wont rattle your neighbors windows but gets the job done. Fits nicely under the back seat. The remote level adjustment is a great option too, allows you to give a little more/less bass when needed
Pros: Easy install, simply follow the instructions. Nice bass sound. Tucks away into tight spaces
Cons: Wish it came with needed power/speaker wires. Had to order them after I noticed it didn't come with the unit.
I got this because of the high reviews. I did NOT expect much. Just wanted a little fill on the bottom end. Fits right under the seat. Easy install. Hits hard for a small package! Sounds awesome! I would recommend this to anyone! Well worth the money!!
Pros: Small Easy install Loud
Great unit! Perfectly rounds out the low frequency deficit inherent in most small vehicle sound systems.
Pros: Low Profile Simple Installation Reasonably Priced
Nothing much I could add to what everybody else has said. Except maybe that if you're planning on installing this under a seat in a 1993 Toyota 4Runner, be prepared for a battle. I swear, Toyota designed those seats and adjusting mechanisms and floor boards and mounting points to specifically prevent the installation of an under-seat sub. No matter how I tried tweaking the sub and the seat, there was some piece of the seat about 1/4" out of whack. But after a week of experimentation, modification, and some amount of physical aggression and creative profanity, I got that sucker in there. And it was worth every minute of anguish - again, all on Toyota's seat design for that year's model.
For the price and what it is, it is excellent. I'm not a make your ears bleed bass guy, but the stock system is terrible. This was a low cost powered and adjustable add on.
Pros: Cheap Adjustable Compact Good not great as long as you aren't expecting perfection
Cons: I've heard cleaner subs Needed more parts than what came with the system to make it work in my vehicle.
Works well, as stated before, connections for power wires could be larger of you have oo or larger wire already installed . Watch input level as just a slight increase can lead to distortion on bass.Fills in sound nicely where even upgraded sound bar speakers are lacking. I have head top on and really makes the Sony stereo Sound much more expensive and balanced than I would have believed. My wife drives a 2015 Volvo xc60 w/ upgrade factory system and I have 2016 Ford Explorer w/ ford upgrade stereo. This may not quite reach that level but you are also trying to make great sound in a "brick with a hard top" and not 1 drop of sound insulation so I believe I would easily recommend and buy again if this one ever fails. For the money you really cannot go wrong.
Pros: Great sound especially for price ,compact , looks very high end.
Cons: Connectors could be larger if you have larger than 8 gauge wire running, input level is critical for good sound. If you have setting for sub input on your head unit, follow instructions and set @1/2 max level, set input on sub where it sounds good, then fine tune with head unit for best sound .
wanted more bass and didn't want to loose floor space,it fit right under my drivers seat with no problem and sounds great
This is a decent mid bass subwoofer, but seems there are limitations with the compact design in that the very low frequencies are entirely missing. Returned it and ordered an Infinity Basslink, which I have owned in the past, and while a bit clunky it rumbles in the very deep bass just like good home theater sub does.
Pros: compact, clean and tight bass, plenty of power
Cons: bass is booming in mid frequencies only and sounds a bit like a speaker vs a sub
Perfect choice for a Pick-up or any other vehicle. takes up minimal space and has a great sound...Excellent Bass!
Pros: Takes up small space...Couldn't ask for better bass.
Its a nice piece if you just want bass in limited space, it will give you bass excpected of an 8 in sub. Its worth the price for what you get. If you want to feel the bass, then this is not for you.
Pros: Easy set up in small space
Cons: Not powerful enough to feel the pressure
Easy install and sounds great.
Matched this with 2 pairs of 2-way polk audio speakers and an old Kenwood receiver. Nice solid bass without drowning out the sound from the other speakers. Just enough punch without annoying other cars at a traffic stop. Straight forward install but make sure you have all the hardware before you begin to save you multiple trips to your local car audio or hardware store in the middle of the install. What you'll need: Wires: - 2 sets of speaker wires if using the high level input (RCA cable for low level input) - 14 AWG minimum for 12V+ (red) and GND (black) - Remote turn on wire (blue) Other necessities: - connection terminals - heat shrink or electrical tape - zip or other cable ties Look elsewhere if you want earth shaking and windows rattling type of sub woofer. Glad I got one before it went out of stock
Pros: Small footprint, produces plenty of bass for the size, ample RMS power, easy install, solid build
Cons: No wires included. Much prefer including the necessary wires than promotion materials such as S/O dog tag and decal
For its size the sub really hits hard. With some support from the outstanding Crutchfeild support team I was able to complete the project. Only issue I ran into was when wiring and using the four channel output to factory radio be sure and take small speaker wire from remote input to the positive side of the output on the four channel. This will give ample power and allow sub to really beat!
Pros: It beats, for its size!
Cons: Wiring a tad difficult but just call Crutchfeild they got your back.
For a small sub it has a lot of punch it was easy to install
Very nice! I was used to a separate 10" or 12" sub in the back seat of my 1998 F150. I could truly FEEL the subs. Didn't really have much faith in the sound ordnance unit that would fit under a seat but... Could that little thing do the job in the crew cab? Would I again have to sacrifice my back seats? I was pleasantly surprised. The connections were simple, the seats were not sacrificed and the performance was great. I just wanted a enough "thump" to round out my sound and it did that with plenty to spare. Don't get it twisted, its not a separate 12" sub butt hen again I'm not trying to be heard coming down the street anymore.
Pros: Size, fit, performance
I have been getting my sound system to what I want but couldn't get the amount of bass from my audio system. I had a powered sub-woofer before so I went the same route. I didn't want to get deaf like some of the cars out there but enough to get a good bass thump! I have the amp under the pass. seat so I had to put it under the driver seat. After getting everything setup and tested, I tried seating on the seat to see if I could feel the bass but it was so minimal that you wouldn't know it's there. So perfect, you can hear the bass but not feel it! Anyone who want to just get that extra bass thump without installing a big amp and sub-woofer, it is the way to go! It was a little long for my seat but the rear mat covered up the end to hide the unit. It also comes with a remote to control the amount of bass you want without going to the unit to adjust! Awesome!
Pros: I love everything about this powered sub-woofer! Just amount of bass thump without going deaf! Awesome sound!
Cons: The only things is that it's an inch too long but that's the only con I could think of.
It was easy to install and it has filled the missing bass void. This powered-sub works well with my Polk Audio door speakers and Sony receiver. Nice thing I could fit it under my rear seat so it does take up cargo space.
Pros: Good price. Easy setup. Nice quality sound.
Cons: None so far, since it was installed in March.
This unit has always given me trouble turning on. The sub sounds perfect for rock and country music when it actually works. Its just dispointing when the unit wont switch on by itself.
