Our take on the Sound Ordnance™ Bass Bunker

Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB10-125V ported enclosure holds one 10" subwoofer and offers an internal volume of 1.47 cubic feet. Its large vents feature rounded inner corners that keep port noise to a minimum for more accurate response. Just add the right sub, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Warning: This enclosure does not include mounting hardware. If you're buying a sub from us, please check "What's in the Box?" to see if screws are included. If not, you should have an assortment of heavy-duty wood screws on hand for the installation.

Product Highlights:

  • ported hatchback style enclosure for one 10" subwoofer
  • 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard) with black carpet covering
  • cutout size: 9-1/4"
  • internal volume: 1.47 cubic feet
  • dimensions: 18-13/16"W x 14-3/8"H x 15"D1 x 11-13/16"D2
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Definitely build solid, and sounds awesome with a Kicker CVR sub. My only critique is that it would be better if it was build with 3/4" MDF rather than 5/8" used, but the sound is exactly what I was looking for.

Definitely build solid, and sounds awesome with a Kicker CVR sub. My only critique is that it would be better if it was build with 3/4" MDF rather than 5/8" used, but the sound is exactly what I was looking for.

Pros: 35Hz tuned ports, 1.47cubic feet of airspace, very efficient and tuned right where vehicle acoustics typically need it most

Cons: 5/8" MDF construction rather than 3/4"

Awesome Box

Jonathan from West Bloomfield, MI on 9/29/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Amazing box. I have it paired with Alpine BassLine 10" and the low end extension and tuning works amazing well! I'm surprised at how much volume can be produced for a box of this size. Construction and quality are great, I highly recommend the box.

Pros: Great size to volume/impact ratio Well tuned Great construction

Cons: Not a fan of the Sound Ordnance badge on the front May want to replace the wires it comes with

Very well made box

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I transferred my JL Audio WxV2 10" sealed subwoofer to my wife's Toyota Sienna from a Mazda5 and although it was plenty loud in the Mazda it was woefully inadequate in the larger van. Tried a custom 1 cu ft ported box tuned to 37 hz with that subwoofer and it was much louder but the frequency response wasn't flat at all. Next I tried this SO box, which is larger than recommended by JL but it really brought out the lower octaves and the frequency response is much flatter. Very happy with the sound quality from this box. I did also try stuffing the box a little with some poly fill but that didn't work out so well (reduced output) so it sounds best un-stuffed.

Pros: Nice looking and built box with internal bracing and a good 35 hz tune.

Cons: Plan to swap out the terminal cut with Item #120TCRB if you want to use a double banana plug like I did.

Works excellent

Works great with my Rockford Fosgate P2D2 Punch. Really improved the bass compared to my old sealed enclosure.

Pros: Build Quality Bass Response

This is a awesome box. I put in my car and it's too much bass I turned my bass control more than half way down. I need to replace my highs now. I would recommend this box to anyone.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Incredible bass out of this! I bought a 10" Alpine baseline sub and tried both the sealed and ported enclosures. The ported enclosure made my speaker twice as loud! Construction quality is very nice!

Pros: Great construction and looks. Love it!

Cons: None

Wow...what a difference a box makes

Bill from Ft Worth, TX on 11/16/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Lets just say that I am older than most who would be looking to buy this box. I bought a new 2016 Mustang GT Premium, and the stereo was horrible. I replaced all the speakers and added a 10" woofer that had been in the closet for Lord knows how many years. It sounded OK, but not great. I decided it needed more, so I bought a new Kicker CSV 10" sub and put it in the box. Better, but not there yet. Then I find this Switched the new woofer over to this box, based on recommendation of the Kicker manual sizing chart. This thing will blow you out of the car. One 10" DVC woofer with a 400 watt amp (dialed down under 50%) changed the entire sound. Good hard kicks for rock. Occasional hip hop sounds like I'm a "Hustla". This is a definite buy!

Pros: loud, clear, and boomy

Cons: Its pretty dang big!

Sturdy Enclosure

Wow what a difference!

Josh M from Ohio on 3/16/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good quality built dual ported box. Solid, strong, and sealed. Bought this to replace a smaller sealed box I was using for a Kicker CompR. I was having a difficult time finding an enclosure that had enough cu ft that didn't take up my whole storage area and didn't break the bank. I generally lean towards sealed enclosures as I prefer a more tight bass response. At the same time, I wanted to get a little more boom from the sub so I figured I'd give it a try. I am more than pleasantly surprised at how well this box was able to accurately produce clean bass notes which cover a wide range. Responds well in all music genres. Ulitmately I ended up pairing this with a sealed enclosure as well. My system sounds fantastic. If I had known up front how great this box was going to sound, I would have just ordered a 2nd one of these and skipped the sealed box all together. Great work Sound Ordnance and great service to Crutchfield.

Pros: Quality build, nice appearance, for the size doesn't take up an excessive amount of floor space, accurate bass response

Cons: Wish I had bought 2

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I spent a lot of time researching and looking for the right enclosure for my sub. It was difficult to find one with enough air space for arreasonable price. This one fit the bill perfectly. The price and quality were both what I was looking for. Also it was delivered in 2 days. I am a repeat customer and this was another great buying experience.

Pros: Sound quality, price, durability

Quality ported box

Brandon from Owings Mills, MD on 4/28/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It a quality fabricated box, perfect fitment for the 10" Alpine Type R I put into it, and a nice volume at 1.5 cu ft. It's made from quality materials, is nicely carpeted, and has large speaker terminals (I have 10ga speaker wire running from the amp to speaker terminals and it fit like a glove).

Pros: Quality, durable, appropriately described on Crutchfield, and a solid box for the price.

Cons: Internal speaker wire is soldered so replacing it with larger gauge wire is a little hassle.

Bass Box

This box accepted the Polk bass like a silk glove fits on a lady's hand. Easy to install, looks great and built to last. I wont need another set of boxes for a very long time.

Pros: Quality product that is built well

Cons: nothing

Very good quality and sound!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this box to replace a several year old box that was beginning to split around the subwoofer mount and was a bit big for the new subwoofer that i had purchased. To start off I am running a single 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch P2 subwoofer with a Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-1 300W amplifier. I purchased this box because it was the ideal size for a vented box for the P2 subwoofer att around 1.39 cubic feet (subwoofer mounted and displacement subtracted). The box is well made, with good speaker wire pre-installed in the box (soldered to the posts of the terminal cup), it was easy to hook up and mount the subwoofer as I had actually drilled pilot holes for the screws to screw into which made mounting a bit easier. Now, sound quality: I'm pretty much an audiophile when it comes to my music, this box produces a loud, clean bass with little to no port noise. I was skeptical at first about having to ports on the box, but it turns out it sounds fantastic. As to the looks of the box it is wrapped in high quality carpet with the only thing being that the enclosure i received is more of a black color rather than the grey color shown on the website. This is perfectly okay for me because i personally like the look of the black in my car a lot better.

Pros: Sounds great Ideal size Sturdy, High quality build/design Low Port Noise Good looking design High quality presoldered speaker wire High quality gold push terminals (rear mounted)

Cons: In the photo on the website it looks as if the inner joints of the box are caulked; however, the one i received looks to be sealed with a clear sealant (wood glue?) It doesn't make any difference really as the box is sealed at the joints real well (I know because my previous box was actually drilled into and didn't sound good at all).

Box makes all the difference

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got this box to replace the one I got when I bought the vehicle. Actually it replaced 2. This box lets me run one 10 instead of two and hits twice as hard.

Pros: Sounds great

Cons: If you have a Jeep like me, the backseat has to go. Who needs backseat drivers?

Great boxes!!

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

it said 1.47 cubic feet which are close to 1.5 cubic feet or my JBL s2- 10inch [ Troy  Dec 16, 2017 ]
Value. One of the reviews stated that the same sub I'm going to be using sounds great in this enclosure. And I love Crutchfield. [ Jimmy  Nov 10, 2017 ]
This box is within the recommended specs of my subwoofer. [ CARROLL T  Aug 09, 2017 ]
Cheap and less of a pain then building a box [ alfred  Jul 22, 2017 ]
Already had a subwoofer that fit. [ Eric  Jun 06, 2017 ]
This box is listed as 1.47 cubic feet which is very close to the 1.4 cubic feet needed by the sub woofer that I have selected. [ Paul  May 01, 2017 ]
recommended by the advisor/ heard that ported boxes have great bass for the type of music genre ill listen too [ Brenndan  Apr 05, 2017 ]
Needed a good box and didn't want to build another one my old one was about 1.0 cubic ft. to small for the trim ring also. should be a perfect match for the Rockford Punch 10" for a ported box recommended by support. [ M  Mar 03, 2017 ]
The closest spec box I could find that I could afford for my Infinity Kappa 100.9. Custom box was way out of my price range, so I hope this works out! (Current too-big sealed box sounds like trash) [ Philip  Nov 30, 2016 ]
Price was unbelievable! The volume needed for the sub I chose, this was the closest I could find. (-.03 cu/ft) [ William  Aug 15, 2016 ]
I needed a good box [ Matthew  Feb 10, 2016 ]
fits the air space needed for my sub [ joseph  Jan 24, 2016 ]
Its the largest pre-fab ported box I could find for a 10" driver. Really wanted about 1.75 cu/ft but didn't have time to build my own so I'll give this a try. If its too small then I'll order up the 1.8 cu/ft 12" box and make time to router out a 10" to 12" speaker adapter ring. [ Sean  Dec 13, 2015 ]
