Add some boom to your ride

Win the battle for boom with subwoofers from Sound Ordnance. Throw one or two of these bad boys in your vehicle to give you bass you can feel. You'll love the difference these subs make, and adding them to your system won't destroy your budget.

Built like a tank

The M2-8SVC 8" subwoofer comes with a tough glass fiber cone that will keep its shape when the music's turned up, so your bass stays accurate. The butyl rubber surround helps keep the woofer's movement on track, and it'll stay pliable for years to come. The stamped steel basket provides a stable home for the whole assembly, so your bass plays the way it should. Also, Sound Ordnance backs up this sub with a 3-year warranty, giving you peace of mind while you're rocking hard.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Can't imagine beating the price and performance from an 8" sub. Fit in my 2002 Tahoe factory enclosure without modification. Plenty of low end to fill the truck without being obnoxious outside the vehicle. I did bypass my factory amp, so not sure how it would sound with that. The connection is threaded which I didn't care for, was hoping it was spring loaded like other SO subs. Not really a con, just my preference.

Pros: Easy install in 2002 Tahoe great sound for price and size

Perfect sound at an amazing price compared to the big guys. I didn't need competition style gear and just needed some punch. Installed this in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee with the XJ-Pod enclosure. Super clean install and no rattling. Paired with the compact Sound Ordnance amp this thing really kicks the low end. Extremely satisfied.

Pros: Great sound in a compact and economical package.

Speaker sounds great, fit perfectly in my 2003 Toyota Avalon. Can't be happier.........NOTE: had to modify stock mounting bracket because bolt pattern was different. Kept stock bracket but inverted the screws with longer ones. Fit back in perfectly..!!!

Pros: Great product, great price....., also came with case candy.

resto-mod with show car sound

Phil from Fairfield, CT on 4/3/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ran a test without a box and it was amazing for a small sub (I know, it needs a box for optimal performance). I use subs to fill in lows and kicks for hard rock, and add depth to my classical - not really into the massive thumping, so can't comment on how these are when really pushed. They seem to respond really great, and you can't beat the price. I expect the sound to be even more defined when I install these in the box in the rear of a 1957 Chevy resto-mod.

Pros: Perfect size, easy to install, really fills in the bottom end

Cons: needs a box (not really a con because I need to build it into a custom location, and I love to do it.)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For small 8" subs, these sound pretty good so far. I built my own special box design and sealed, painted and applied wire ports, then painted with the black bedliner spray for a really good look. Due to space, I really couldn't install 10" or 12" so I went with twin 8" on a 97 Jeep Wrangler TJ and really worked out well!

Pros: Good sound for 8"

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sub for the price! The sub in my 02 Avalon had gotten damaged from time. I found a repair I could do, but then I found this sub. I decided to go for it rather than fix the smaller stock JBL that was in there. Great choice. This one hits harder and sounds better. My only gripe is that the connectors they sent along with it do not fit this speaker from what I could tell and it came with NO instructions on how to attach it, this was frustrating, but I clipped the plugs off, spliced the wires and I was able to get it to work. This was a great buy. A very reasonably priced sub that sounds great....just could have used some better instructions.

Pros: Sounds great! Great Price!

Cons: Lacks instructions.

2006 Nissan Titan
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just received my pair of S/O M2-8SVC subs, which I mounted in a home-made twin-chamber box (.35 cu. ft. each) under the back seat of my 2006 Nissan Titan. They are being powered by a Rockford-Fosgate P300-1 mono amp wired in parallel to present a 2-ohm load and 300 watts. After tweaking the gain and LP-HP settings on the HU (Pioneer AVH-4800), these little subs really impress! Tight, solid bass on all types of source material. They are well-made and pretty hefty for a "budget" speaker, and I've owned many different brands of subs in the past. They also come with a nifty rubber "concealment" ring to cover the mounting screws, as well as a "dog tag" and "S/O" decal, and feature a 3-year warranty. Delivered fast and efficiently in Crutchfield style, they really rock!

Pros: Work well in small enclosures. Plenty of power-handling. Eight screw holes instead of four, for tighter seal. Excellent quality for a budget price. Single 4-ohm coil for easy two-speaker parallel wiring. Hefty terminal posts.

Cons: Needs an optional grill with "S/O" logo!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2 of these S/O 8"subs wired parallel to achieve a 2ohm load really fills the cab of nissan frontier(with almost nowhere to mount a bass system) with big booming, clear bass! Would definitely recommend these subs to anyone with limited space. I was really pleasantly surprised at the boom from these little guys! Wow, Crutchfield tips and guides are always spot on. Thanks again Crutchfield team.

Pros: Small size makes for easier choices on where to mount. Lot's of big bass for a small price!

Cons: Nothing bad to say about this product or previously purchased S/O equipment.

I was skeptical when ordering this sub due to the size. I have. Stalled one in a BMW Z3 and another under the rear seat of a tundra. Amazed at the amount of bass produced. You are not going to get SPL out of their sub but I t will definitely fill in the lower end of your stereo and they are small enough to fit almost anywhere. Will definitely buy a couple more for other vehicles.

Pros: Great bass response and sound quality, fits in small spaces

Cons: None yet

Nice addition to stock system

2013 Kia Soul
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this speaker to round out the sound in my daughters Kia Soul. The car came with the Infinity system which sounds great, but was lacking in the low end. The goal was to add a little deeper bass without being heard two blocks away, not take up too much space, and not break the bank. This speaker has fit the bill perfectly so far. I built a small sealed box that would fit into the storage tray in the cargo area to keep the speaker out of the way. Even in a smaller homemade box this speaker sounds great. If you are trying to irritate the neighbors, its definitely not the right speaker, but if you want to add a little extra bass, this speaker does a great job.

Don't let the name fool you into believing that if it's not a big named product line that it must be cheap. Sound Ordnance is the only speakers and power amps I buy now. You can't beat the price and quality of their products. I've had them in my car for over 2 years with no problems whatsoever. I had everything professionally installed.

Pros: Overall build and Quality

Cons: Zero Cons

Very good sounding speaker for the price , not only that you get a 3 year warranty with it as well, I don't have an amp hooked up to this speaker yet just breaking them in ,but it still sounds good.. I can imagine what it will sound like once i hook the amp. I like the wire hook-up to the speakers, just like the home style speakers.

Pros: Excellent Speaker

Great little sub!!

ELPQ35 from Kansas City, MO on 5/18/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great little subwoofer. I purchased to replace a busted OEM subwoofer in my 2002 Ford Expedition. I read some of the forums only before purchasing and I have successfully install this subwoofer and the Sound Ordnance M2100 amplifier in the stock enclosure/location with very little modification. I was able to keep the original power and signal wiring as is but I changed the fuse in the amplifier to a 25A fuse to protect the original power cables. I did have to modify the original subwoofer enclosure. This 8" was too deep for the box b/c of the reverse hump in the back. Online someone said they heated it until it flatten out. I just cut the plastic hump out and filled it with a piece of MDF wood. I did not add any additional poly-fill other than the stock stuff that's in there. I measured the enclosure and it is roughly 0.6 cubic ft which makes it suitable for this subwoofer. Now this is an 8" so don't expect it to do any damage but it is a great upgrade for stock 8" subwoofers. I highly recommend. For the amplifier, I had to remove the shiny silver plastic by removing the screws and tearing off the decorative silver plastic. Fit well in original amplifier location with cup holder removed.

Pros: Great sound from small package

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed some bass in my old vehicle and did not want to spend to much. Called up and spoke to the rep and he suggested the 8" for my application, due to using my old amp for power. Crutchfield is great because they helped me figure out how to bridge the amp that I bought from them in 1999. Lifetime support baby! Anyway, got my sub, built a box to fit under the passengers seat and hooked everything up. It sounds great! Fills in all the sound and thumps like my old 10" sub that I used to have in my truck. My kids love the sound system, and now we have a great time in the car listening to all types of music. Next I'm upgrading the stock door speakers. What will I buy? Sound Ordinance components.

Pros: Full sound with little space

Cons: So loud, could hurt your ears. But that's why I bought it.

THis was not an issue for me. I actually stripped the connections off to expose the wires, because it has a positive and negative. It sounds good in my 02 Tahoe [ DEMARLON  Aug 04, 2015 ]
I had no issue when I replace the Sub in our 2002 Avalon XL, just make sure you get the wires connected properly to match the impedance or the other speakers. It will work either way but will sound better if all are in sync. You will be able to tell by listening, if it does not sound correct just reverse the wires. [ Roger  Aug 03, 2015 ]
If you are saying your vehicle has two wires connected to the current subwoofer, then this unit will work fine. If your vehicle has 4 wires connected to the existing subwoofer then you have a Dual Voice Coil setup. Most aftermarket amplifiers will allow you to bridge the two outputs into one (two wires) for a SVC speaker. Some OEM radios will allow you to just connect one pair of speaker leads. If you have a DVC setup (4 wires) currently, you can find nice DVC subwoofers on the Crutchfield site. [ William  Aug 03, 2015 ]
NO this will not be a issue [ Anthony  Aug 03, 2015 ]
Mitch, I replaced the factory sub in a 1998 Ford Expedition. The factor amp was existing and I would assume the crossover was built into the amp. I would say yes you would. Good luck. [ TIMOTHY J  Mar 19, 2014 ]
