Win the battle for great sound in your ride. Sound Ordnance amplifiers feature tough construction, rugged looks, and a 3-year warranty, so you can enjoy the full power of your music for the long haul. Even better, you can add Sound Ordnance to your arsenal at a surprisingly affordable price.
The Sound Ordnance M-4050 4-channel amplifier deploys 50 watts RMS to each channel, giving your music plenty of firepower. You can also bridge the amp to 2-channel mode to mobilize a pair of subs with 180 watts RMS each, or send 180 watts to a sub while the front channels run your full-range speakers. An adjustable high-pass filter makes sure your full-range speakers operate within their optimum range and give you the best tone possible. If you're driving a sub, the low-pass filter and selectable bass boost allow you to control your bass barrage at will.
The M-4050 amplifier uses sophisticated power supply and output technologies to ensure clean amplification from the inputs all the way to your speakers. Special circuits protect the amp from overheating and short circuits, and a turn-on delay virtually eliminates that annoying thump when you turn your system on.
This thing pounds my 6.5 type Rs and a single 10 without issue.

This thing pounds my 6.5 type Rs and a single 10 without issue.
Nice looking amp. The improvement was substantial even when my radio was only putting out 2 preamp volts. I since upgraded the radio and the sound is even better than before. Like the bass features for the rear channel. GREAT sound and features FOR THE PRICE.
Pros: Bass features for rear channel
Cons: Size a bit large to fit in tight places.
Great amp. As many other reviews mentioned, it is a little big and the mounting screws/holes can be a little trouble. Does have preamp out and hpf/gain control on the front channel, hpf/lpf/bass boost/gain control on the rear channel. Power/speaker terminals are slightly hindered by the end caps that also serve as the mounts. Can't beat it for the price though
Pros: Price and quality
Cons: Size, mounting
Hello Crutchfield, i really like my amp. I purchased my first amp of Sound Ordnance for my sub. It performs great and so i needed a 4 channel amp. So i wanted to stay with the same brand. It works great and the cost fits my budget and they have a 3 year warranty!
Pros: great performance, great price, and has a 3 year warranty
Cons: its a large in size
Using this amp with my stock speakers what a difference it make great sound worth the money.
Pros: Great for my application sounds great. Budget friendly and great warranty can not beat that.
Cons: A little large check dimensions for size and fit.
great amp for my system, provides ample power and completes the environment perfectly
Pros: good size, perfect for my system
Had this amp installed in my 2014 Tundra about 2 years ago and it's still living after the torture I put it though. Never overheat's or anything. Have a LC6i connected to it powering 4 Kicker 6"1/2's along with a Kicker mono amp powering 2 Kicker 10" subs. Just absolutely amazing sound quality.
Pros: Price Sound Quality Durability/Performance.
Cons: Kinda beefy if you are working with limited space. (My truck is a double cab) Other than that......none.
I installed this in a Ford Ranger. Sounds great with plenty of power for a little standard cab truck!
Pros: Easy straightforward install.
Great bang for the $
Pros: great sound and very tunable. actually had a friend do my install because that is what he does professionally even he was impressed
Cons: gets hot... and actually kind of large... be sure to measure for size before ordering
Excelent buy and performance. Plenty of bass kick with my 10 sub in crossover and plenty of power with my four speakers doubled up as recommended by Crutchfield for my small truck cab configuration. Highly recommended.
Before this 4 channel amp the previous owner had grouped the left and right speaker wires into a 2 channel amp. I should have made this purchase sooner, because now with this amp the music is crisp and alive. There is a slight humming from the speakers if I turn the GAIN control too high, but that may because my after market speakers aren't rated for 90watts. Either way it's hard to notice it with the volume turned up.
Pros: A lot of power for the 4 channels for the price. Crisp clean power that brings the music to life
Cons: Slight humming from speakers when car is on and volume is off
Easy install - great unit for the price.
Pros: Affordable and does what I need
Cons: Screw mount hols are very deep - need a long skinny screwdriver
Great amp great price
Excellent product! Works beyond my expectations and was really easy to install. Instructions were clear and concise.
Pros: Works great and easy install
Cons: None that i found. Just good good good.
A great well built Amp and nice options like the built in crossovers and super bass settings, and at a more than reasonable price. You cant go wrong.
Pros: built in crossovers. super bass settings. low price
Cons: None ... you cant go wrong. Buy one!
This is a large amp. You may find it challenging to fit under a seat. Clean sound. Solid stats for an amp in this price range. The chrome time on the amp feels and looks a little cheap . I don't necessarily know that I would feature this amp as the centerpiece of my car audio display. Mounting screw are shot. Plan to use a long Phillips head screw driver or have an extended bit in your drill. Be careful. The plastic chrome on the top of the amp is easily damage while mounting due to the use of short mounting screws.
Pros: Clean sound. Great frequency response and THD for an amp in this price range. The price...thats' why you are looking a this amp in the first place. Good features and flexibility with mono bridging option. Good manual. Nice schwag included in the box (cool dog tag and sticker).
Cons: Fit and finish feels a little cheap. Specifically plastichrome on top/sides of amp. Short mounting screws increase likelihood of damaging the appearance of the amp while mounting. Large size limits mounting options.
Solid amp. It's been powering my four aftermarket speakers for a year now without any issue. Great sound from this amp and it stays relatively cool on the floor behind my passenger seat. Slightly large but it performs well.
Pros: Stays cool Drives speakers well Easy to install
Cons: Slightly bulky
Amp is much larger that I thought it would be reducing the placement options in a small truck cab. This amp works very well for a budget amp.
Pros: Works as advertized.
Cons: Very large
Great amp for the money I have no complaints
Bought this to replace a similar performing amp. Chose this one for the super low price, and relatively solid performance. Certainly performs well, but upon install, the housing proved to be pretty cheap and made it challenging to mount.
Pros: Great price Great performance
Cons: Cheap housing may make install challenging.
Very good amp for the money. This amp is in my 2005 Hyundai,Tuscon powering a pair of Pioneer 6x9 4- way speakers in boxes, also a Pioneer 12" subwoofer. Thank you Crutchfield for having great people to deal with as they are all a pleasure to talk to.
Pros: Sounds great! Worked extensively with technical support to locate the best ground point in the car for the amp to work properly and all is well now..Thank you very much Joe L in technical support for your help in resolving the problem and your patience with me. You deserve 5 stars as well.
Cons: Had issues trying to eliminate engine noise also radio reception dropped off until amp was grounded well.
This is for a 2006 Silverado CC HD. I was upgrading my system and knew I wanted an amp. I did not want to break the bank with this system so I took a chance on the SO brand as I know Crutchfield wouldn't put their name on junk. This amp does the trick. It is driving two sets of 6.5" polks, one is the separates and the other is a coaxial. This amp makes them sound very clear and loud. The sound is very clean. I have both the front and rear channels set to HP since I have a SO powered sub to take care of the low end. I put the AMP under the rear seat and it fit well. I have cranked it for a good half hour and it barely gets warm. I am glad I went for this instead of shelling out 3 to 4x for a name brand.
Pros: Low cost Works great
Cons: Pretty big for its power rating. Plastic mounting pieces are just okay.
Made my $50 Pioneer 6.5s & 6x9s play louder, HPF only played highs & mids allowing me to hook up a sub to balance my lows. Good for budget speakers, don't buy if you have high-end speakers.
For the money, this is a great amp, however, it's a little larger then I was expecting, installed in my 65 chevy nova pushing 2 kicker DS 6x9s in the rear and 2 kicker DS 6.5's up front . It's been in use for only a week and with a very loud exhaust system on the car, I have the volume cranked up high, and so far I have great sound going through all 4 speakers and the amp stays nice and cool . Anyone on a budget I would definitely recommend .
Pros: Sounds great, easy to set up , the price is right
Cons: Amp is very large , mounting was a little tricky with hardware supplied
I am very pleased to have bought this amp. It functions as it should and is very simple to setup. The only flaw I see, is the fact that it doesn't have LP for the front side of the amp. So, if you bought this amp to run two different subs, thinking you would be able to bridge the front and the rear for more power, it wouldn't work as you thought. On the other hand, it works beautifully for sterio speaker/sub combo!! I'm using this amp, in combination with a S/O component speaker setup, along with a S/O single subwoofer. I'm a very pleased customer, and would definetly reccomend this amp to someone. I would first ask them what their intensions are, so they aren't just thinking about cost, but also funtionality.
Pros: Ease of operation. solid instructions.
Cons: No LP for front speaker side of amp.
the amp I got was so cheap that distorted the speakers and made it sound worse than the original system
Pros: good paperweight
Cons: poor quality
you can not beat this amp for the money, I am using it to run two 12"subs in the truck of my Nissan altama. very nice.
Pros: no problems
This looks to be a really solid amplifier. For my install though, it's just not the right fit given the size. If you know where the items that I discovered that like Share are as follows: as mentioned previously the screws to hold wires in our difficult to access with the screwdriver. The other issue I had which led me to return the amplifier, is the lip on the top side of the amplifier extends over the endplates too far. This makes to your setting your frequencies and gain very difficult especially if you have the amplifier mounted vertically with the faceplate facing you. The last challenge I had with the amplifier were being mounting holes. They are recessed about an inch and a half into the frame of the amplifier. Because the holes are so small you lose the ability to use a powered screwdriver unless you have a very long Drill bit to drive the screw
Pros: Beautiful exterior, built well
Cons: Protruding lip, screw mounts make this a difficult amp to fit in a small space.
This amp was a snap to install and sounds amazing. I'm using some sound ordnance 6x9 speakers and it's a match made in heaven. Thanks Crutchfield!
Great value amp, east install to power all speakers in truck
Awesome amp. Especially for the price. I have it powering 2 10" Polk subwoofers. I bridged it for added power and mounted the amp to the back of the sub box. Sounds great even though I have the gain turned all the way up. I also used the crossover so only lows come through the woofers. You will not regret this purchase
Pros: All the features you could ask for in a 4 channel amp for a good price. Cool looking and has great sound quality.
Cons: Its a bit husky
Fitted into Jeep Wrangler TJ that has an aftermarket pioneer system fitted by previous owner, Sony speakers in sound at, and kickers in front. Spec on pioneer stated output about 14W, was producing minimal sound, added this amp and got a wonderful, rich, bass sound, took whole system to another level. Just perfect for the jeep, great sound, at a great price. Peyton, Crutchfield adviser put me onto this system and he did a great job with his advice.
Pros: Easy to install, clear instructions from crutchfield website Solid unit, good price, works great even with roof down on jeep
Cons: Was slightly bigger that expected, and had wanted to install under seat, but now sits behind passenger seat in floor well, raised off floor, not a problem as took back seats out of my jeep
Well, it was too much for my system, so said the installer. He said it's a grate amp but overkill for my system...oh well I'll buid off it. It's fully adjustable with build in x-over switches and seems to run on the cooler side.
If your looking for a good budget amp, buy this one. Works great!
Good product, best power for the price!
Its an amp. It amplifies the signal.
Pros: Sends signal to speakers
This amp is high quality and delivers big time. very impressed.
Pros: Nice sound, and price.
Cons: A little big but pretty slim.
Great product and can't beat price!
great amp with good power. Easy to adjust and stays very cool. Love the black and chrome looks Nice!
Pros: Stays cool and easy to adjust
Cons: mounting screw holes and screws are too small
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Didnt like the emblem stuck on top of it
What an amazing amp... I didn't think I was going to get the performance I am getting from this sound ordnance 4 channel amp along with sound ordnance component 6 1/2 speakers and 6x9 speakers. I'm happy.
Pros: Great deal for great performance
Great amp for an entry to mid level system. I actually have one of these in each of my vehicles. They are clean, clear and loud. Cant beat the price, its solidly build, and it looks good.
Pros: Price - much higher quality product than you would get from a competitively priced amp. Quality - Build quality is nice, sound is very clean, and the built in crossovers work very well.
Cons: None. Seriously.
I was a little apprehensive about this amp as it is priced well below it's competition, but I was pleasantly surprised. The product arrived in a package strong enough to withstand the roughest of UPS workers, which was nice. The amp itself is very sleek and feels heavy and durable, indicative of a quality build. Installation was very easy, as I was actually replacing another amp that had died. But it came with everything needed to replace the previous one. I went ahead and replaced the power and ground wires as the ones that came with the amp as the battery is in the rear of the car and it was an easy swap. I have had the amp installed for about 3 weeks now and am quite pleased with it.
Pros: Cheap. Effective. Durable.
Cons: Maybe back in 2000 someone would have made fun of you for having an off brand amp, but no one really cares anymore. No downside to this amp as far as I can see.
Improved the clarity and range of the aftermarket Pioneer speakers in my 2000 Ranger regular cab pickup. Finding a way to mount it behind the seat required some thought, but I did manage to do it.
Pros: The wiring was easy to do with the free wiring kit, although I did need to purchase extra RCA cable for 4 channel operation
Cons: Size could be a problem for some types of installations.
Ok job for the money. Entry level amp
Cons: Need more power
This amp does exactly what it is intended to do. Good entry level 4 channel amp for an entry level price.
Pros: plenty of power to run the fronts
Cons: the wire hold downs are somewhat difficult to get to because of the angle and are very short causing them too easily fall out after loosening just a few turns.
I bought this amp to power a pair of Pioneer TS-A1674R and a pair of Pioneer TS-D6802R speakers (with a Pioneer DEH-6300UB stereo). The sound is great and there is a lot more clarity from the speakers. I had it installed by a professional at a car audio shop so I can say with some certainty that it was installed correctly. Great amp for the price and came with install kit.
Pros: -LOUD -Clarity -No heat problems yet, however, we are going into summer now. -PRICE PRICE PRICE -Came with amp install kit so saved more money.
Cons: -Size wouldn't allow me to mount underneath car seat. -Slight bass distortion from my D6802R's but I need to turn it down anyways. -Slight whine noise, not sure what source is. Could be from amp or grounding or other source. Can't hear it when turned up anyways so unless you don't want to listen to music, you will be fine.
OMG, I just love this AMP.!! (M-4050) I never post things, but I just had to share a few words to help others click the buy button.... It's just like Fast Food, cheap$ & does the job w/ out draining your wallet.. Best of all it is design By CRUTCHFIELD & they also gave a free 8-gauge wiring kit for a special.....duh, it was a no brainer..!! Don't for get..!! Your sounds will only be as good as your Stereo Deck, so $pend the money more on that end..... Running a Alpine Deck w/ 61/2 & 6x9's type S & 1 Polk Audio 10 All off this $100 AMP...! Crazy!!
This amp is like listen too angle from above Bill Evans first CD played the sound it just Something special to.the sound it just sweet
Pros: Ten star
Great Amp for the money. Performed exactly as needed for my application. Easy to tune and enough power to push the four MTX speakers that were used for stock replacements.
Pros: Economical, performed very well for my application, and mounted under the seat with ease in a 2007 Honda Accord.
Cons: None at this time.
I needed an amp to for my new speakers this amp has performed wonderfully . Wished i had bought a higher end speaker
Pros: Great amp for the price
I needed an amp to replace an A/d/s amp in my 1985 535i; this amp has performed wondefully with my 30 year old ads speakers! The sounds is just as good if not better than my old amp. Easy install. Big plus was the free wiring kit that came with it.
Pros: Nice sound!
Cons: None at this time.
This amp is all I expected and more! I have infinity reference components 5 1/4" in the front and 5 1/4" 2 way sound stream speakers in the back. I was using an old pioneer 2ch amp to power them all. When I hooked up this soundstream 4ch it really brought my speakers to life! Much more powerful than anticipated. I was going to get the 100w rms soundstream amp but I am glad I didn't. My speakers are 75w rms and I only have the gain set to half! The individual front and rear filters make tuning a breeze. Great amp especially for the price! !
Pros: Loud. Easy to install. Price. Looks great too.
Cons: None I can think of
This is an amazing amp, hands down. I have this hooked up to a pair of Kenwood 5.25 components and a 6x9 pair of Rockford Fosgates, they sound stunning now that I have this amp powering them. Beware that you probably won't be able to fit anything larger than 8 gauge into the power and ground ports on this, but that certainly doesn't affect the quality of this amp.
Pros: Powerful, solid build, good value, has RCA outputs as well
Cons: A little large for it's power range
I'm running two Sound Ordnance M-4050 amps in a 2013 Mustang GT. One is powering a pair of Pioneer TS-D6802R's in the front doors and a pair of Pioneer TS-A6885R's in the rear deck. The other is bridged, powering a pair of 10" Pioneer Champion Series TS-W254R S.V.C. 4 ohm subs. All of this with the stock head unit and a PAC AOEM-FRD24 factory integration adapter. The amps drive everything very well and have the potential to sound great. I say they have the potential because the stock head unit in my car is holding them back. I spent quite a bit of time trying to tune the system and have had limited success, but the I have no doubt the HU is the issue. I ordered a new HU from Crutchfield and should have it in a day or two, my first impressions of the amps are that with the aftermarket HU's adjustability I'll definitely have the sound I'm after.
Pros: Quality construction and price! Crutchfield technical support.
Cons: The amps are a little large for their power rating but not so large I couldn't find room to mount them.
Like the title says, the amp arrived DOA. :-( Only the front channels worked. But, the sound from those channels with the rockford fosgate speakers was pretty good. Since this is my first amp, I'm impressed. Very powerful bass imo with the Rockford Fosgate Punch 6 x 9's. I wil not be needing a sub woofer. This set up provides all the bass I can handle. On just the rears, it can vibrate my car pretty hard if I crank it up. And that's without bass boost on. So, when I finally get a fully working on, I think I'll be happy. Since I had a problem, I'm very glad now that it has a 3 year warranty. Crutchfield immediately shipped out a replacement and all I have to do is send the broken one back. They pay the shipping so the Customer Service is darn good. Things happen. Nothings perfect. The replacement should arrive tomorrow. Seems like a long 5 days waiting for the replacement lol.
Pros: Powerful, clean sound (to my ears) from the working channels. Nice set of controls and adjustments. PRICE! At this price, I would think this is hard to beat.
Cons: Well, arriving DOA is not exaclty a PRO. Kinda big. Just get the measurements and make sure it will fit before you buy. Easy.
Just finished installing this amp in a 2002 Monte Carlo. I'm very impressed with the performance and sound quality of this amp.
Pros: Easy to install, great price and sounds great...
Great feature set for the money with awesome s/n comparatively. Hooked this up to a set if focal 165ag1 rears and Polk db6501 component fronts and it sounds fantastic. Crossovers work well and have many adjustments. Overall great so far, however it's a bit large for the amount of power it's producing.
Pros: Cost, features, s/n, warranty
Good amp sounds great
not specific on the requirement to use an interface. I hade to replace the radio and install an interface.. The turn signals and chimes are the issue !
Pros: lot of power
Cons: poor sound without the interface (I hope)
I purchased this amp add an upgrade to my aftermarket speakers and deck. It is everything I asked for and more. Easy install ready to tune and puts out high quality sound. It doesn't run very hot which is a plus and everything on it is high quality.
Pros: Original sound out of a litre priced product
Cons: It is a little bit bigger than I expected but still manageable.
this amp was very easy to install and and has all the adjustments to make your speakers sound crisp
I installed this in a 90 F-150 with super cab, with an Excelon head unit, two Kenwood Excelon 6 3/4" component speakers and a S/O 12" vented sub on the bridged rear. For a while I drove it without turning up the gain and it sounded OK. Then I set the crossovers and adjusted the gains, WOW! I am a musician and an engineer and have always loved good sound and solid equipment and I was so pleased that I bought the S/O 4075 and 2100 for my wife's vibe with kenwood spkrs and Bazooka sub (it was the most space I was willing to give up in the vibe). Unless you have a sound lab calibrated ear and your vehicle makes absolutly no sound going down the road you will be happy with S/O. I recently spent $2500.00 for focal amps and speakers for my project car (1979 Riviera) and yes it sounds better, but you can't beat S/O with anything that costs 3x as much. Oh BTW, the people who are breaking cases and connections should try a little finesse!
Pros: Sound Quality, Power, PRICE!
Cons: Finding a place to put this stuff in a truck cab!
The amp works great, puts out good sound.
Pros: Easy to install, good set-up instructions, good value.
Cons: The shiny metal on the upper edges of the amp are grounded. When you tighten the screws for power and speakers, the shaft of the screwdriver will touch that edge. If the amp has been turned on, sparks will fly (yes, even if the power cable is disconnected at the battery terminal. The amp stores a fairly big charge). Still, it seems wise to re-tighten the connections after a day or two. Mine had become a bit loose.
Installed this amp in my Dodge Ram 1500 to run a set of 6.5 components off the front channels and a single 10" sub off the back channels (bridged). Sound is very clean at all volumes. Some others have mentioned the amp seems larger than necessary, but I don't think it's excessively large by any means. You simply can't beat the value of this amp when considering the quality of sound and VERY low price!
Pros: price, sound quality
This amp works great and sounds awesome. I have had only one problem with a ground loop but that isn't the amps fault
Pros: Loud sound Easy install Many tuning options
Cons: Big and bulky for small car but no problem for my truck.
Sounds good for the price. Very loud and clean. Perfect size to fit under the seat of my truck.
Pros: Loud, good price, easy install
Cons: Plastic wire covers are a bit flimsy.
Worth the money
Never had an amp in years. Installed unit under back seat of my F-150, although it is rather large in size, what else do you keep under a back seat of a pick up? I also installed a Sony MEX BT3100P head unit, Fosgate 1683 Punch series speakers front and rear. Wiring took up most of the time since you need to run new speaker wires, power from battery and of course the RCA cables from amp to head unit. You'll want to purchase a power cable kit, If you want to maintain front and rear fader you will need a second pre-amp RCA cable, then on the Sony head unit program the sub output to speaker out. Crossover and settings on amp were straight forward. Mounting unit to bottom of seat I had to be creative. Are there better more expensive amps, perhaps. For me it works very well, my system is loud and clear.
Pros: Good value for the money, simple to set up
Cons: Large size and mounting hardware needs improvment
This amp was very impressive. I rewired the speaker wire to my 1999 Honda Accord and used two sets of Kicker speakers. The amount of bass I got out of these speakers was completely dependent on this amplifier. Without the amp, the speakers were fairly flat and unimpressive. This amp brought the power to life and the sound changed completely. With the x-over switch on, the bass comes over very deep even without a sub. I would highly recommend Crutchfield's Sound Ordanance.
Pros: Easy installation , fit under passenger side seat, provides great power and sound
Cons: The cooling vents are only on one side. The amp gets fairly warm when using if not faced the right way.
Great Amp. Sounds great, and delivers a big punch...
Pros: Great delivery...
While this is my first purchased amplifier and I cannot compare it to others; the sound ordinance amp fits my needs perfectly. Using the 4 channels I run ample power to my four kicker speakers. Producing crisp notes and powerful volume I couldn't have asked for a better product.
Pros: 4 Channel EQ tuning Frequency adjusters Crisp sound Powerful volume
Cons: Large amp Heats up from regular use
Easy to install and setup. Sounds great.
Pros: Ease of Install
Cons: Wish it was a little smaller so it could be tucked away easier
If you are on a budget, but do not want budget sound...You will want this amp. I just finished the install in my 1998 Jeep Cherokee today. Kenwood headunit, this amp, 35watt RMS Pioneer speakers in front doors, an a 10" Kicker Comp in a truck box mounted behind front seats. I had a similar setup in a Cherokee that I owned previously, the only difference being the amp. My budget this time around was limited, even though my install space was not. It is a big amp..yes....well worth the money?? Absolutely!!! My sister has been tossing around the idea of me installing a system in her Focus and my Jeep just put the final nail in the coffin on that decision. She thought Amps and Subs were for noise you can hear around the block. This setup is so crystal clear and POWERFUL!!! The 180watts going to the sub (with two channels bridged) is no bull. My old system used a 4 channel Kenwood 800watt amp bridged going to the same kind of box and It cant even be compared. I put in a CD of my sisters (Kenny G's Titanic sound track) and the sound quality between the crystal clear highs and seat vibrating bass made my hairs on my neck stand on end. And that is not my kind of music. WOW..that is all I have left to say...WOW... Long review, but I want folks to know that $100 plus change can really get you a fine amp for your ride. Thanks Crutchfield!!
Pros: Outstanding power. Nice layout of connections and adjustments...makes for a clean/easy install
Cons: Are you kidding me?? Umm.....I didn't buy one sooner?? Yes..it sounds that good!!!
This unit is manufactured very well. The connectors are solid, the surround is solid and controls are excellent. The sound is unbelievable! Rock the JEEP!
Pros: Great construction, easily installed and mounted.
Cons: Need some additional mounting aids or points
I was astounded at how good my new M4050 sounds for the price! II bought my M4050 last week to replace another older different brand amp that had problems. My old amp was heavier and had a smaller chassis but the M4050 sounds 100% better, has plenty of power and the sound is absolutely crystal clear. I have the front channels connected to 2 pair of Kicker KS60 coaxials and a pair of older Alpine Type R tweeters, and bridged the rear channels to a single 10" Alpine SWE 10" sub in a sealed enclosure. I have put my system through some testing since I installed my M4050 last week and it hardly even gets warm, even after 30 minutes of continuous loud volume. My whole system sounds great, both at high and low volume. When I found out Sound Ordnance is Crutchfield's "house brand" I knew it was a good amp because Crutchfield would not put their name or reputation on a bad product. These Sound Ordnance amps sound fantastic and you just can not beat the price. I will 100% recommend Sound Ordnance to anyone who needs a great amp at a budget price. My M4050 is without a doubt the best inexpensive 4 channel amp I have ever heard. It sounds every bit as good as other amps at 2 or 3 times the price. These Sound Ordnance amps are an excellent sounding amp with plenty of power at a great price. Thanks again Crutchfield!
Pros: Great sound, crystal clear mids and highs and plenty of power for subs. The amp looks good too. Seems to perform perfectly and not get hot at all. even with both front and rear channels running at 2 ohms.
Cons: I would prefer a variable bass boost knob or potentiometer instead of a fixed 0, 6 or 12 db bass boost, but that is a very minor issue. The amp is a bit large, but I had room for it. Some have said the plastic mounting brackets break, I could see how that might happen, so it is best to pre-drill mounting holes and run the screws in by hand or a long shank Phillips bit on a cordless drill but be sure to use a drill with a clutch set about in the middle to avoid damaging the brackets.
Great sound, easy to install and adjust. The sound is really impressive for the price. I bought this to replace a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp that cost 4 times the price and it sounds just as good.
It's so wonderful I told my friends about it and this place
Pros: Everything you need in this amp
Cons: Nothing wrong
Great sound, easy to install and adjust. The sound is really impressive for the price. I bought this to replace a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp that cost 4 times the price and it sounds just as good.
Pros: Great sound, solid performing amp.
Cons: The side covers are plastic and held onto the unit by 2 allen screws. It is a little annoying trying to attach them after wiring up the amp. I had a difficult time tightening the mounting screws with the cover on.
Great amp for the price!
Pros: Lots of configuration options. Great power and easy to use.
Cons: A little larger than some other amps.
It definitely improved the quality over a stock GM unit and for the money it is a good investment
Pros: low price good quality equipment
Cons: none really it seems to be a good deal for the price
This amp has plenty of power to drive my Polk db501 front speakers and my Infinity Kappa 693.9i rear speakers. As many have said, the plastic mounting frame feels weak, but it did not break when I screwed it down to the box, so there's that. A strange note, when screwing down the positive power terminal (onto wire that was NOT yet connected to a power source) my screwdriver arced to the metalicized plastic frame. I checked the fuses, and one of them had blown. I haven't noticed any indication of damage in terms of sound quality, but it was quite surprising and a bit disconcerting.
Pros: Powerful, clean sound Affordable
Cons: Plastic Mounts feel Weak and Cheap
Hesitant at first, but when I discovered SO was Crutchfields house brand, I knew it had to be good. Couldn't be anymore pleased with this amp. I am running the highs through this amp, they are crystal clear and powerful.
Pros: It's all good.
This amp was an easy installation and work well with the new JBL speakers that were installed in the door, the price was at the low end but the sound is on the high end. I also purchase a JVC radio with an HD tuner which sounded greate.
Pros: Great sounding and a good match for the speakers purchased.
Cons: Amp runs a little hotter than i exspected.
I was looking for a reasonably-priced amp to power two 6-1/2 speakers plus a 10" sub and this fit the bill perfectly. The built-in high-pass and low-pass filters are just what I needed. As others have mentioned, this amp is pretty big, but I put it in a 32' RV so room wasn't a concern.
Pros: Nice features at a good price.
Cons: It may be a little too big for some applications.
I got this amp for my Jeep..hits under the back seat. makes my speakers sound great..I have a 10'' sub & 5 1/4 hooked up. bridged the sub so it has 180 watts & 50 watts to each of my 5 1/4 sounds great!! Makes my sub bump but I can still hear the words from my other speakers just fine. I was alittle worried about not being able to hear the words having a Jeep Wrangler..But it sounds better then I thought it would!!
Pros: Price, sound quality, bass boost, allows you to hookup two subs or one sub & 2 other speakers or 4 smaller spearks.
This is a nice amp for the money, it feels very durable when you are holding it. It has never come close to getting hot or even very warm. It was very easy to set up, everything is labeled well. Crutchfield's tech support is awesome, they were very helpful. The only thing i would say is bad is the size. I wouldn't even consider it a bad thing really, just if your trying to conserve space it is a bit bigger than other amps of the same power. It doesn't really matter to me because my subs already take up the whole trunk so i'm not going to be putting anything else in there anyways haha
Pros: good quality, doesn't overheat, labeled well, terminals are easy to use/switch wires etc
Cons: i little bit big
Probably the best upgrade I made to my system. Easy set up and Crutchfield even helped with the crossover settings when I called tech support. Songs that you have heard thousands of times sing with detail that you have never heard before. If you listen to a lot of music in your ride it is worth the price to upgrade the sound. The only drawback was the size of the amp, it is big compared to other similarly powered amps. If you have to install this in a tight area it might make adjustments a pain. I have bought several Sound Ordnance products and they were well worth the investment. Life is too short to listen to lousy fidelity.
Pros: Great sound, very loud, very reasonably priced. Great tech support.
Cons: Very big, whats up with the dog tags?
This amp works well once it gets warmed up but for the first five minutes of driving all I hear is a loud rumbling noise even with the source turned all the way down.
Pros: Looks nice and good sound.
Cons: Needs to warm up before clean sound comes.
I bought this for my wife's Jeep Liberty. We were trying to do something on a budget and beat the factory sound. We're pushing a set of Pioneer 6 1/2 separates and another pair of 6 1/2 Pioneers for the doors, all off the front 2 channels. The rear channels are bridged and driving a single 10" Rockford Fosgate sub. The set up was an afterthought when the 4 Pioneers didn't deliver the sound that we wanted. The same afterthought resulted in the set up that we now have. The amp is seeing a constant 2 ohm load and seems to perform well. No sound complaints what so ever. She does not have fader control now, but never used it anyway. The mounting brackets are mediocre at best. Plastic, c'mon! You need to slide a screwdriver through a hole in the top of the amp to screw it down. Holes are too small and also preclude you from using proper screws. When looking into sub options, I opted to go away from the compact powered Sound Ordnance sub because of a customer review indicating that mounting of that sub was also poor. It wouldn't be fair to say that their R & D department designed and built nice stuff but failed to actually install it in the real world, but I have thought it.
Pros: Sound, performance, price.
Cons: Mounting brackets.
I got a whole entry level system for my sons truck. All Sound Ordinance; 4 speakers, 4 channel amp and the 8 inch sub connected with a JVC head unit. I was not to impressed when i opened the boxes but i thought lets give them a shot. After everthing was connected I was blown away with how good it was for the price. You will not win any sound audio contests but if you want a good everyday audio system you will not be disappointed. PS: That little 8 inch sub is awesome I just wish it had mounting brackets.
Pros: Great amp.
Cons: nothing yet.
It does the job well but check out its size. It is big for the power output. The unit has chrome plated bezels near the terminal blocks so don't try to tighten the power terminal with the battery connected. Oops.
Bought this amp to replace the factory amp in my 99 BMW 328ic. Sounds great and didn't have to spend big bucks to get it. Tech support was great in finding a problem with the first amp shipped, second was shipped free of charge and as always it was on my doorstep within a couple days. Would definitely buy this brand again. Thanks Crutchfield
Got this to power some Polk 6 1/2 slim mount speakers. This baby drives them harder than I was expecting so I'm definitely satisfied with the sound, and it was a solid price (at least at the time I bought it). My only knock would be that the parts of the amp where you screw it down are plastic. Therefore as soon as the install tech started to screw it down, the pieces broke and they had to use some mounting straps instead. There's no functional impact, but the construction could be of a little better quality.
easy to hook up and good sound - built well
First off, this amp is BIG for what amount of power it puts out. When compared to most amps comparable in power ratings, I would say it is EASILY 150% larger than your average amp housing. Sound quality is horrible! The music sounded hollow and not life like at all. I installed a Kenwood amp in it's place and sounded 200% better.
Short/sweet & to the point. After spending good money on a nice Pioneer head unit w/4 Polk speakers, something was missing. The system sounded great but just didn't have the fidelity and crispness I was looking for. After years of outstanding support from Crutchfield, I decided to go with their very own Sound Ordnance 4050, 50wX4 amp. After hooking it up and fine tuning everything it is just amazing. I can clearly hear drummer taps and fingers sliding down the guitar strings. Now that's the clarity I was looking for. I can crank it with zero distortion, enough to make your ears hurt and hair move. The clarity is incredible, no humming in the speakers, the price is outstanding and a 3 yr warranty, I would highly recommend this unit to anyone, even for competition purposes. I feel my money was well spent. Definitely worthy of a Corvette.
I bought this amp trying to save some money yet get as much power and sound i could as well as versitility. This amp did just that. I had beed blogging a lot on crutchfield and i was recommended this amp to power my two front speakers and my single 12" sub. Being that i drive a coupe, the inside of the car is small so those front speakers easily brought extremely loud sound throughout the car and the rear speakers did great to fill in the rest of the sound. Definetly a great buy, hopefully it lasts me. Only con i found so far is that I didn't realize how hot they get so i had to move it to a more ventalized area in the trunk.
I bought this for my van because my new radio had very low watt output, and as its a diesel powered Econoline, it needs to have some power to cover the engine noise. Anyway, this amp provides crisp clear highs to my tweeters up front, and FLAT OUT AMAZING thump to the tail doors! Seriously, if I hadn't already installed subs, I wouldn't have bothered with them. Plus it looks great mounted to the wall, and I've got an army buddy that likes the name.

Power Ratings: The Sound Ordnance M-4050 is a 4-channel Class AB amplifier with an RMS power rating of 50 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and 90 watts per channel into 2 ohms. The amp can also be bridged into a 4-ohm load for a power rating of 180 watts (x 2). Power ratings are measured with an input power of 14.4 volts.
Crossovers: The M-4050 is equipped with both high-pass and low-pass crossovers. The front channels (channels 1 and 2) and the rear channels (channels 3 and 4) have separate crossovers. You can set the low-pass cutoff frequency between 50Hz and 250Hz, and the high-pass cutoff frequency between 80Hz and 2 kHz. Separate switches let you select low-pass, high-pass, or full range operation for the rear channels, and high-pass or full range for the front channels. The crossovers have a 12dB per octave slope.
Bass Boost: The amplifier has a bass boost switch, labeled Super Bass, to give small subwoofers more volume in the low frequencies. You can select the amount of boost with the 3-way switch: 0dB, 6dB, or 12dB. The Super Bass feature is available for the rear channels only.
LED Indicators: The M-4050 features two LED indicators: a green LED that illuminates when the amp is powered on, and a red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is in protect mode due to overheating or a short circuit in the speaker wire.
Removable End Caps: The end caps on the M-4050 are removable with a 3mm Allen wrench (not supplied) to make it easier to attach the power and speaker wires.
Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. (An 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit is recommended.) The remote turn-on terminal is a set screw terminal that will also accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
Speaker Connections: The speaker connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
RCA Inputs and Outputs: The amplifier features two pairs of stereo RCA inputs for connecting your head unit--one pair for the front channels and one pair for the rear channels. If your head unit only has one pair of preamp outputs, you can feed all four amplifier channels by connecting optional Y-adapters. (You will lose front-to-back fader capability if you connect the amplifier using Y-adapters.) There is also a pair of stereo RCA outputs for feeding the preamp signal to another amplifier, if needed.
Fuses: The M-4050 features two 20-amp ATC blade fuses.

I needed a 4 channel amp that just put out a little more power to feed my hungry speakers. I like the layout and the screw terminals better than the giant terminal of the smaller more compact sound ordinance. [ Alexander Aug 29, 2016 ]

You can get a distribution block. Normally they are 4 gauge in and 8 gauge out 2 or 4 way. [ MICHAEL L Feb 16, 2017 ]
He cleaneat way would be to run your 4 amp to a fuse box as close to the amp. Then run your 8 amp from there to the amp. That helps if you want to run anothet amp later. If you dont want to do that, you could simply remove some of the wiring from the 4 gauge to get it to where it would fit. [ David Feb 16, 2017 ]
SnR can be measured on a amps individual inputs and outputs using a mathematic formula. [ Edric Jan 26, 2017 ]
All you need is a regular amp wiring kit if you are going to run it 4 channel, I ran it two channel, with two 12 subs, only lasted for about 4 -5 months, would not suggest, spend a little more money and get a lot better. [ TIM May 29, 2016 ]
The filters aren't fixed, so you can set up for full range. I don't think you can set filters on less than 2 inputs at a time. Power from the car battery is adequate for this amp. Hope that answers your question! [ Maurice May 28, 2016 ]
FWIW - I have my amp running to a pair of subs only. Personally I like to go large (4ga from batt,) but I think you'd be safe with 8 - provided you are only installing one amp. As for speaker cable, 12ga to my subs and 10 to the rest. This amp has performed well so far (2 yrs??). [ Maurice Apr 21, 2016 ]
Like many amplifiers, the Sound Ordnance models are rated at a 14.4 volt power input. Because most electrical systems will average closer to 12-13 volts, the output per channel will be slightly lower than rated. I hope that helps! Sure you can but the built in ones work well! So well, someone stole my son's car for it! Good amp and it will work in most situations. [ GERALD Sep 29, 2015 ]
Yes. You can use a passive crossover with any amp. Just be sure it will handle the rated power (watts) output of the amp. Depending on the radio you have, and your set up, you might be able to use built in crossovers in the radio. Hope this helps. [ 181jonathan Sep 29, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The RCA outputs on this stereo are used for sending a signal to another amplifier. We call this daisy chaining the amps. Aaron I purchased this for my daughter's car and it is awesome! She and her friends get rocking and I can hear her coming home a block away. (not good for neighborly accord) The quality is way above the other units I looked at. The only negative , and it's really not a huge deal, but the attaching port for the keyed wire to turn on the unit is for a 10 ga. wire and the wire that is sent to attach there is probably a 16 ga. so you have to fold and solder the end to get it to be captured by the set screw. Other than that its been great. Good value for the money. Dave J [ DAVID R Jan 05, 2014 ]
I just put this in my sons car and was able to crank it up almost all the way up with no distortion. I will be putting this in my hot rod as well! Money well spent! [ GERALD Jan 05, 2014 ]
It's a quality amp for a significantly cheaper price than the name brands out there. I bought it with kicker 3ways in the back and it brought the life out of those and was hitting wayyyy lower notes than I could get with the kicker 30w amp I had. Definitely would suggest buying it. [ DAWSON Jan 05, 2014 ]
I was a little skeptic about this amp when i was searching for one for my speakers, but for the price and everything, i figured i'd give it a try. I was very pleased first of all with the service from crutchfield and the easy of installation. Everything on the amp is marked very well and its very self explanitory. The quality of the amp is great too! The output you get is just so clean and for the price, its pretty much unbeatable. You can get the same from alpine or kenwood or any others for that matter, for double the price though. Definately would recommend it, especially if you're trying to stay in a budget. [ MALINDA J Jan 04, 2014 ]
This was my first so I'm not sure how it compares with others. But i can tell you that it is really good And has held up well. No problems [ THOMAS Jan 04, 2014 ]
