Great value and reasonable results
1993 Toyota Pickup
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Very good value and very reasonable wonder quality. Replaced the OEM speakers in my 1993 Toyota Pickup, and matched to an older JVC HD Radio/CD unit that is 20 watt X 4 RMS. Didn't need the wiring harness pigtails that were supplied. Dash assembly instructions were clear and correct, but the unexpected oddity was the factory speakers were attached to an OEM plastic speaker baffle box, including a bass port. I had to remove the three screws holding the box to the lower dash panel, and then remove/replace the speaker. The spade lugs on the speaker matched up to the OEM wiring, so I just pushed the old spade ends on to the new speakers. For a 4" speaker in a rolling beer can, the sound quality is very good. My truck no longer sounds like an angry hive of bees is nesting in the dash, irritated by my choice in music. Great value for ~$30 for these little soldiers.
Pros: Great value, good sound. Matches reasonable expectations for a 4" speaker mounted in the corner of the dash board. Sound stage has the ambience and aural comfort of a middle row seat on a Southwest Airlines jet heading to LAX at Thansgiving.
Cons: A little surprise in the use of an OEM baffle box that was not acknowledged in the install instructions, but understandable and easily sorted out. I didn't need the wiring harness pigtails, and I am saving the dog tags enclosed in the package for when I am drafted into the Zombie Irregulars, semi-ambulatory brigade.
