Ready for great-sounding music from your smartphone or tablet — on the go? So's the Cambridge Audio Minx Go. This compact portable Bluetooth speaker system is only about the size of a hardcover best-seller, and it's a true high-performance audio device.
Sure, the Minx Go will play audio streamed from a standard Bluetooth-enabled device. But it also features aptX® audio coding, an advanced type of Bluetooth wireless streaming that retains virtually all the detail of the audio signal it carries. If your smartphone or tablet is compatible with this technology, you'll get even better performance.
Cambridge Audio started with a rigid cabinet that minimizes unwanted vibration and rattle. Into it they placed two 2-inch, high-quality woofers for rich dynamic midrange, and two titanium dome tweeters for clean, accurate highs. A rear-firing bass radiator reinforces the low tones for deep, authoritative bass. An advanced digital signal processor (DSP) ensures the incoming audio stream is decoded as accurately as possible, retaining all the detail of the source material.
"This little speaker sounds much better than it has any right to..The Minx Go is a great option for people who want clear, clean audio in a solid package, and aren't swayed by the flashy exterior of competitors."
— From Jeremiah Rice's review Android Police, June, 2013

The system's built-in rechargeable battery can deliver up to 18 hours of continuous operation when fully charged. And speaking of charging, when the Minx Go is connected to an AC outlet, you can also recharge your smartphone or tablet through the system's USB port. You can also use that same USB port to recharge the Minx Go from your computer.
"The Cambridge Audio brand has a long history of offering well-designed, high-function products, and the sleek Minx Go is a great addition to that lineage."
— From David Williams' review Geek Magazine, November, 2013
A fold-out stand keeps the Minx Go stable when you set it up. And when you're ready to travel, fold in the stand, and slip this compact speaker into its carry pouch.

Sounds and works great
Very sweet sound. Much louder than I expected. Bluetooth operation is very good.
Pros: Sound quality.
I bought this speaker to use indoors with my computer or iPod, and I'm very pleased with it. It was very easy to set up, and the sound quality is very good for both highs and lows, you can hear everything very clearly. IF you want house-shaking bass, this is not what you're looking for, but for listening to most music, it is very good. It's sturdy, and looks nice. It is lightweight and not very large so you can put it on a windowsill, bookshelf or desk. I recommend this product.
Pros: Lightweight, portable, great sound for its size, long battery life.
Cons: Will not rattle the neighbors' dishes.
For its size, and I consider it small, it puts out comparable sound. I purchased it after Crutchfield recommended it. It does not have the volume or punch I was looking for. I may give it to my younger daughter. I had temporarily removed 2 Axiom outdoor speakers and was looking for a substitute. Believe I was asking too much out of the little Cambridge. If you're looking for portability and decent sound quality this may do it. High volume and punch: No.
Pros: Cost, portability, sound quality.
Cons: Not much volume or bass punch.
Excellent sound for the size, well balanced and neutral. The sound improves based on placement in an open area, such as when placed outside on a patio table.
Pros: Very easy to use, and good battery life.
Cons: Sound quality degrades somewhat once battery starts to drain - to be expected.
Better volume than I expected, will walk on you on hard surface, sound quality excellent when you mix w/ iPhone options, only disappointment, you can not advance songs thru the speaker only thru the iPhone, however blueuetooth range is comparable to competing units out there
Pros: See above
Cons: See abovwe
Amazing product for the size and price! Great sound, flexibility and unbelievable battery life! Only negative is Blue Tooth range. Very limited
Pros: Size, Sound, Battery
Cons: Blue Tooth range
I was hoping to be blown away by the sound quality of this unit given it bears the Cambridge Audio nameplate, and unfortunately was not after powering it up the first time. I was intending to return it initially, but received it on a Friday and figured I would give it the weekend. Well, I still have the unit and absolutely love it now, it's the perfect size to fit into my backpack with my laptop, it has plenty of power to fill a room or a yard with great sound, and fantastic battery life. Really can't ask for much more. Maybe the speakers just needed a break-in period, because I find myself much happier with the sound now than I did during that first listen. All I can say is "give it a chance". Overall, good bang for the buck.
Pros: Battery Life Sound Quality Bass Response Size Price
Cons: It tends to spin around if placed on a smooth surface due to the vibration that the subwoofer makes, other than that, no complaints.
Great product. A little bigger to be fully portable like the Bose mini II. But the sound stage is so much better. Beautiful and well built. The range on the Bluetooth is pretty far. The sound keeps up even at high volumes. The bass with some songs seem to struggle a bit at max volume. Other than that, I think this is the best sound one could get for the price range. The 18 hours is great, and I get a little more out of the battery since I play it at lower volumes. Charging my iPhone or any other devices with a USB charger is useful for travel as well. Overall the best portable sound and even better than some competition in the higher price range. Hope this helps
Pros: Sound Build Battery life Looks Portability
Cons: Price increase since its release
Solid construction and heavier than I expected. Delivers a solid punch, sound is well rounded. Super easy blue-tooth hookup. Very glad to have invested in this.
Pros: Solid bass. Well rounded sounded. Adequate volume levels.
Cons: Turning it on produces beep tones which are a bit loud and annoying, luckily it is very brief.
I want to thank my Crutchfield rep for directing me to this product. I was trying to decide between the Bose Mini and the next step up Bose portable Bluetooth speakers. I explained that I was looking for a reliable, rechargeable device with great sound and enough volume to fill a small room and can be used outside. I was directed to the Cambridge Audio Minx Go. The product arrived two days later and I'm impressed by the solid build quality, ease of operation, sound quality, and volume. I have put it through the ringer for the past four days using both my ipad 1 and iphone 5 bluetooth devices in my office and outside while repainting my porch. The great sounding tunes made chore time fly right by. A great purchase.
Pros: Price, build quality, ease of operation, sound quality.
I am fairly pleased with this device and would recommend it except for one thing, the Bluetooth performance. It is terrible. I stream music through my Android phone. I can't keep the phone in a pocket and move around even within 2 feet of the Minx Go or it loses reception. One might think it was the phone except that I have a Sony receiver also with Bluetooth that plays flawlessly from much greater distances while in my pocket and moving around. The positive though is the sound which almost makes up for this shortcoming. I play it outside and the sound is clear and the bass abundant. As long as I leave the phone on the table next to the Mink Go, there are no problems. When an outlet is available, I plug it in and charge my phone. Problem solved. Sort of. In summary, I would highly recommend the Minx Go if your streaming device and the Minx Go are close to each other and stationary.
Pros: Excellent sound, great battery life.
Cons: poor Bluetooth reception. The streaming device must sit next to the Minx Go and remain stationary or it loses signal.
The speaker sounded very good but i was very disappointed with the Bluetooth performance. Range seemed very limited. To the point i suspect the unit I had might have been defective. I exchanged it for the Bose Sound Link III at twice the price. I will always wonder if the Bluetooth performance was typical of the Minx Go or just a problem with the unit I tried.
Pros: Very good sound
Cons: Bluetooth range an issue, at least with the unit I had.
I bought this as a gift for my son who is very pleased with it. Sound is very good and it is very easy to use with his ipod and iphone.
Pros: ease to set up. good sound. price value.
Cons: none so far
I originally was looking at a bose sound dock. My buddy has one and it sounds great. It is a little big and I wanted bluetooth capability. I wasn't impressed with the soundlink and after researching...I found the Minx. I've always known Cambridge to be higher quality and after looking at reviews I purchased. The price point was in my range as well. Very easy bluetooth set up...but onto the most important part....the sound. This unit is very impressive. Very good bass response especially for how small the unit is. Very clear sound. I would highly recommend this.
Pros: Easy set up. Sound is clear and very good bass response.
Cons: Haven't found any.
I love the speakers to watch movies or listen to music via my apple products
Pros: Long battery life and great sound
Cons: No cons on this product
I received a Crutchfield gift card for Christmas and after extensive research the Minx Go checked all my boxes for a Bluetooth speaker. Great sound, great size, great battery life and a great price. I use it for streaming audio all around the house. It's also works well for FaceTime calls from Apple devices
Pros: Great sound and battery life for the price
Cons: Occasionally has pairing issue when switching between devices
This speaker has a great sound for listening to talk radio or rock music. The bass is amazing. However the higher, treble frequencies are really lacking and definitely not good for classical music. Violins sound dead and harpsichord sound is non-existent, overall sound is muddy. I sent it back and bought the Bose Sound Link Mini...a vast improvement and well worth the extra $50.
Pros: Heavy bass if you like that sort of thing
Cons: Weak middle and higher frequencies
Excellent sound in the lows, mids, and highs. Easy pairing. Long battery life.
Once it's set up, this unit plays pretty well in my garage while I'm working outside. It accepts BlueTooth, so I don't have the problem using my Samsung SIII as I did with the Panasonic A4 (that had to be returned as a result of its inability to work with Android phones. And I tried talking to both Crutchfield and Panasonic techs on this issue. The Panasonic tech told me that I would need to store songs on my phone, negating the use of Pandora and Sirius XM). Overall sound is decent considering the void space. I have to carefully position the phone to better receive my WiFi signal, but the Cambridge Audio unit receives the BlueTooth signal with no apparent troubles. Once I had optimized all of those geometric factors, I have been pleased with it.
Pros: Sound quality, price
Cons: None to date!
Purchased mostly for watching Netflix programming on I-Pad outside on my deck. Works flawlessly and now I can easily hear dialogue from streaming video. Super easy to connect via Bluetooth. Battery lasts a very long time on a single charge. Works well for music from I-Pad/I-Phone as well. Quality of sound is surprisely decent for a small package at just $150.
Pros: Size, Price, Quality, Connection options, Battery Life
Cons: Pop up carrying handle might be nice, but it does come with a little bag you can transport it in.
I had read other reviews stating that heavy bass would distort. What I found was that lower quality music files did distort. But the better quality files played virtually without distortion. This thing really rocks and is the best kept secret under $150. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a portable bluetooth with awesome sound and remarkable battery life! I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Crutchfield made it easy and with fast shipping, you can't go wrong. Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Great sound with higher quality music files or with your favorite app, ie, iHeart Radio, Pandora, etc. Compact enough to take almost anywhere. Long battery life. Allows you to charge your smart phone while your playing music! The wall adapter charges the unit quickly. Mine charged from completely dead to full in about 3.5 hours.
Cons: None that I have found so far...
good sound, nice bass, good battery life
Awesome little box ,if your looking to rock the tailgate or just listen to some background music and really appreciate a natural sounding stage this is it!!!!! Cambridge Audio is the real deal ,don't be pulled in by the big time advertisement of the "B" company who's speaker technology really hasn't changed 30 years .
Pros: Warm sounding almost tube like Big big sound stage Good bass response
Cons: None what so ever
I recieved the MInx for my birthday after reading many reviews for other similar speakers. In short, the sound and volume level are exceptional paired with my IPhone 4s. The unit is well designed and the controls are easy to use. It did take almost 4 hours to completely charge it but I have yet to drain the battery after several days of use. I successfully charged an older IPod using the USB port, however the sound qualify is better with my IPhone via the bluetooth connection than with the IPod connected to the Aux port.
Pros: Excellent sound quality and volume level. Easy to use and USB charging capabilities are a nice plus.
Cons: Haven't found any yet but battery will get fully tested on an upcoming camping trip.
I am new to Cambridge Audio, but after hearing this little marvel I am now a fan of their products. I purchased this thanks to the helpful review from Pete (below) and thanks to Ringo's suggestion from Crutchfield. Unfortunately I had already ordered the Sound Cylinder from Definitive Audio, don't get me wrong, it is an impressive little speaker, but for $200 I expect better sound quality. So I will be returning the Sound Cylinder.
Pros: Easy set up, loud clean sound, long lasting rechargeable battery.
Cons: I could only get my hands on a open box item because they are sold out. (They must be very popular) My android phone won't charge through the usb output. I thought it was a defective unit, but it charges other devices.
I had my wife get this for me for my birthday and it is great. I had been looking around for quite some time to find a somewhat portable but still fully capable bluetooth speaker for around the yard/garage and miscellaneous use. This speaker far exceeded my expectations. The build/material quality is great. It has a very solid feel to it. The bluetooth works very well and is very easy to sync. With my ipad, iphone, and macbook, it works extremely well with no humming/buzzing or interference and a good range (enough for me to walk around the yard/garage with my phone in my pocket). The sound quality and more important for outdoor use, the volume with little to no distortion at high levels, is what impressed me the most. It is about as good/full/loud as you can get from something even remotely similar in size. I looked at larger speakers with larger drivers and more power and they didn't match either the sound quality or output of this little speaker. I am reaching for fault when I say this but it does take a while to fully charge (4+ hours) and the glossy black back panel is prone to lots of finger prints. Also, you have to be careful when handling/transporting because of the exposed passive radiator on the back.
Pros: Sound quality, volume levels, little-to-no distortion at virtually any level and with all but the most bass-laden songs, build quality, ease of use/simplicity
Cons: Rear of speaker prone to finger prints, passive radiator could be prone to damage if not careful when handling/transporting
|NFC Touch Pairing||No|
Bluetooth A2DP: The Cambridge Audio Minx Go supports Bluetooth A2DP for wireless connection between the portable speaker and your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, laptop/computer, or other device. You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device to the Cambridge Audio Minx Go. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to navigate your music and to view song/artist information.
Simple Pairing: This unit pairs with your Bluetooth-enabled device with a single press of a button and can pair with up to 8 devices (only one can be used at a time). Once paired, the Minx Go will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33').
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Cambridge Audio Minx Go.
Cambridge Audio Sound: Like every Cambridge Audio product, Minx Go was created by their design team in London. Cambridge Audio engineers have combined their hi-fi and speaker knowhow with the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology to deliver massive power from the smallest possible footprint. The results are an expansive, clear, deep sound that really fills your room with music.
Aux Input: A rear mounted 3.5mm auxiliary input lets you connect almost any portable audio device with a headphone jack output.
USB Charging Port: When connected to AC power, the Minx Go is capable of recharging the battery of your Bluetooth-enabled device from the speaker's built-in USB (type-A) port; rated at 5V/500mA. Now you don't need to carry an extra charger to keep your devices powered up. This USB port does not support audio playback.
LED Indicators: Integrated LEDs indicate charging (red/green) and pairing (blue) status.
Rechargeable Battery + AC Power Adapter: The Minx Go features a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that offers 18 hours of music playback. It also recharges fast from the included AC power adapter and only takes around 2 hours to reach full charge. The AC power adapter can also be used to power the speaker.
Note: The Bluetooth speaker automatically turns off after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Have connected to speaker via Bluetooth, and cable and have had no volume issues [ Robert Jan 13, 2014 ]
Volume seems pretty good so far...especially for the size of the unit. Decent bass response and clear!!! Bluetooth was set up in probably less than a minute...no issues here. Happy with purchase and will suit my need well. [ MICHAEL Jan 11, 2014 ]
Mine can get quite loud. The instructions said to plug it in and let it charge for 4 hours before operation, did you do that? [ ERIC Jan 10, 2014 ]
Our initial reaction is that the volume was much louder than we had expected. Our college age son and high school daughter are satisfied with the volume. I believe it was connected through bluetooth. [ ANDREA M Jan 10, 2014 ]
Via Bluetooth the volume pegged the Sound Pressure meter at 100db. Plugged the cable in and it was about 95db.Had the phone's volume on highest level. I was still able to turn up the Minx to louder than it was via Bluetooth, so it plays plenty loud. Check the volume on your device and ensure it was turned to at least 3/4's. [ MARK D Jan 09, 2014 ]
I hooked mine up via bluetooth and the volume was fine....podcasts and classical music. Haven't tried anything louder. [ Andrew Jan 09, 2014 ]
Just purchased one and found the volume to be satisfactory for a unit of this size and price. Bluetooth did connect easily but was dropping at distances much less than 30 feet. Found the unit to be not working properly and Crutchfield quickly replaced. New unit bluetooth works great up to 30 feet. Overall pleased with speaker performance. [ Thomas Jan 09, 2014 ]
Let it charge all the way and make sure the volume of the source is up all the way. You'll get plenty of volume. [ Daniel Jan 09, 2014 ]
Bluetooth set up was easy on my iphone. Need to set up iphone first, then turn on the Minx. Volume on my Minx is excellent. [ Richard Jan 09, 2014 ]
I bought it for my teenage daughter, and have not experimented with it myself. Suffice it to say that the volume goes high enough for me to routinely tell her to turn it down. [ Henry Jan 09, 2014 ]
I would check the volumn setting both on the Minx as well as on the device you've connected. I would bet the device column is turned down low. [ Michael Jan 09, 2014 ]
Sorry, it is a present for my wife. Have not used it yet! [ james Dec 14, 2013 ]
Yes, the speaker plays while charging. The USB port charger only works while the unit is plugged in. [ ALEJANDRO Dec 13, 2013 ]
Absolutely [ wilson Dec 13, 2013 ]
Yes [ EDRENILO Dec 13, 2013 ]
Sure can. As long as there is enough charge to start up, it will play just fine. Good product overall. [ ANDREW Dec 13, 2013 ]
Sorry I cannot answer. I sent mine back and bought the Bose. [ Eileen Dec 13, 2013 ]
Yes very much so [ Sampath Dec 13, 2013 ]
Yes it will. [ JOSE Dec 13, 2013 ]
Yes [ JOE Dec 13, 2013 ]
Paula, We have only used the Minx Go with an iPhone but would assume it will work with any device that can connect via Bluetooth. It also has a mini jack port on the back that can connect with a mini jack cable. It's a nice unit that sounds good, and is very potable with a long battery life. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Marty [ MARTIN Jan 06, 2015 ]
I have owned one for about a year. It works really well, sounds great and is easy to use. I have used it will multiple Bluetooth platforms, including Windows PC, Apple, and just plain cell phone (not smart phone). I can't speak specifically to Android, but I believe as long as a device is Bluetooth capable, it works great. [ TODD J Jan 05, 2015 ]
Paula E. I have a Galaxy S5 and it works just fine with the Minx Go. I use Pandora with it a lot. [ William Jan 05, 2015 ]
I have an android phone and it works great. [ Henry S. Jan 05, 2015 ]
Don't know I think the Android has Apt x Bluetooth so it should work [ JONATHAN Jan 05, 2015 ]
Can't help with that as only have used IOS [ wilson Jan 04, 2015 ]
Hi Paula, This bluetooth speaker seems to work awesome with any system I have used it with. It has been used with ipads, kindle fire, iphone and samsung tablets. I have had mine for quite some time and absolutely love it. As long as your device is bluetooth compatible it should work. [ ROBERT Jan 04, 2015 ]
My (black) Minx Go works very well with my Motorola Maxx HD. (Android) [ Curtis Jan 04, 2015 ]
