The center column is adjustable via a geared cranking mechanism, for easy height adjustment. Non-slip feet give you a secure platform on most surfaces. And an incorporated bubble level makes it possible to properly set your vertical orientation in moments.

Solid tripod

Blake from Illinois on 3/30/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you are in the market for a tripod, buy this one. Sturdy, stiff, comes with a black carrying case. For the discounted price, I can't imagine a better value in tripod. This will last me for many many years. The only reason I'm not raking 5 stars is because the carrying case has some mold growth on it from sitting in the warehouse for so long. I'm sure a diluted bleach solution should clean it right up.

Replaced older broken exactly and at a great price.

Pros: exact match

Cons: none

great value

Dave from Port Republic, VA on 9/27/2014

Really a great tripod with any feature you'd want, very sturdy and easy to work with. Very light to carry and for the price I was pleasantly surprised. If I needed them I'd get 20 of them.

Pros: Price, Light weight, has carry case, easy to operate and set up, Price, Head detaches to make it easy to thread the bolt into the camera so one does not cross-thread the receiver in the camera base, Did I mention price,

Cons: I found nothing negative at all

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this as a scratch and dent item. Well, I still cannot see any defects in it. I was very surprised at the quality. It has many features for the price. I would highly recommend it.

Pros: Light weight, easy to attach and remove the camera using the quick connect, disconnect. Leveling is easy using the already installed levels.

Cons: No screw out pins on the feet for using outdoors.

Nice little tripod

Phil_B from Elkins, WV on 8/24/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a small, lightweight tripod for a compact digital camera. I found this one as a scratch and dent item from Crutchfield at almost half price so I couldn't pass it up. It is quite sturdy for a small camera and is as fully functional as one many times the price. The quality may not be as high as a more expensive tripod but it does the job of holding the camera steady. The carrying handle is a nice touch. For the price this tripod is an excellent buy.

Pros: Lightweight, compact, sturdy within its limits.

Cons: Would not recommend for rough use.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tripod is extremely well-made and is very sturdy and stable. It is replacing a cheap one that I got from a local retailer which broke during its first use. I am very happy with this tripod and for what I paid it was a great buy. Shipping from Crutchfield was free. I love shopping from Crutchfield as I can always trust their products to be superior. I am very, very pleased with this tripod.

Pros: Solid and strong, very sturdy. It is easy to set all the extensions and legs; I had no trouble using it on the very first try.

Cons: None that I can come up with!

Jesse from Brownsville, TX on 6/5/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a bit hesistant to purchase a tripod. I've never owned one but I knew it was time to purchase one. I bought this one primarily for the low price. I was shocked to see how easy it was from opening the box to setting it up. It was a breeze. I love the handle built into the tripod. The carry case that is included is a plus. I highly recommmend this product.

Pros: Easy setup, lightweight but sturdy

Cons: None that I have found yet.

Great Value!!!

TJ from VA on 2/27/2014

Burned through two crappy tripods from another retailer. Finally broke down and went to Crutchfield to pick-up something a little more durable. Although this product was only $15 more than the tripod I purchased previously from the other retailer, it is considerably better built. It's not top notch, but at this price it's a bargain. Should serve well under light to moderate use - unlike the ones from the other retailer that will fall apart in your hands under light use because the plastic parts are so cheap and thin.

Pros: Affordable and durable.

Cons: Not large, but not super portable either.

Great Tripod

Inexpensive and Light

DMA from Dallas, TX on 6/2/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For what it is, this is a great little tripod. If you're looking for something that will hold a heavy piece of equipment on a blustery day, this probably isn't for you, but for most of us using lighter-weight equipment, it does fine. The head locks down pretty solidly, and it has something of a "fluid effect" smoothness, but it's not the absolute best for videography. Still, for the price, it has a lot of nice little touches, like a weight hook and carrying handle (if you choose not to use the included case). It came bundled with my Fuji X-S1, and it holds this chunky camera without any issue.

Pros: Lightweight, inexpensive.

Cons: Not the sturdiest, but good for the price if used for light duty.

very nice piece for the money. I was very skeptical as it was an open box but the item arrived in very new condition. looked like it had never been opened.

Pros: very good range. pan head works well but isn't phenomenal. range is smooth but if your looking for a professional unit this isn't it. for the money this is a very good value.

Cons: definitely not a professional unit but nice and extremely sturdy for the money paid.

very light and adequately functional

ShivV from Houston, TX on 5/8/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When you pick up this tripod - you are bound to notice the light weight. Tripod is very functional with two level displaying bubbles, pan head and directional adjustment, accessory hook etc. understanding how to operate is a breeze. I like that you can take out the base screw camera to it and easily attach it to the mount. I was ready to take this out of box and start shooting. it was shipped quite fast too. happy with the purchase.

Pros: Light weight, not expensive, easy to operate

Cons: Does not seem super sturdy, cover bag seems a little cheapish

ojohnsten from Kearney, ne on 12/16/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

ok, tripod. Not the most sturdy thing I have used but it works. I have not been a big fan of the specialized base that you have to attach so that whatever you want to mount, mounts to the tripod head. Why don't they just put a screw in the head to screw into whatever you want to mount?

Pros: light weight.

Cons: specialized base the you have to mount to whatever, then clip into the tripod head.

No complaints for the price, plus I had an additional discount to use on it. Also using it for my spotting scope

Pros: Priced right.

Cons: Probably for general use only, not professional

OSN OS-500

Aurel from Detroit, MI on 5/31/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tripod is OK, especially for the price. Fit&finish is good, and the tripod is stable...except a small loose into its head. I had to exchange mine because the first one I received had it head's thread totally worn out (the camera was floating). Thanks Crutchfield for the quick exchange. Overall it's ok for my novice use

Pros: cheap, quick installation/removal of the camera, tripod stable

Cons: tripod's head is a bit loose, loose some precision here. Might not last long if you use it hard

Lightweight, but packed

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 4/3/2012 10:39:00 AM

This is a lightweight tripod indeed. But that doesn't mean it's stripped-down. There are plenty of extras that make the OS-500 ideal for outdoor use.

First, the feet are in ball sockets, so they can provide a more stable base on uneven terrain. Speaking about unevenness, there's a level built into the base to ensure the mount's perpendicular to the ground. And a second level under the quick-release plate is a welcome help for setting the mount properly.

I also like the portability of this mount. There's a handle just under the brace so I can grab it and go. And if I'm going for more than a few steps, I can just throw it all into the travel bag and start hiking.
