An antenna that's thin, smart, and cool

Mohu Leaf

Mohu Leaf mounted on a wall

The Mohu Leaf® is one of the best performing, easiest to install indoor TV antennas available. Its small, paper-thin design mounts easily to a wall, or just about anywhere. You can even hide it behind a picture on the wall. The Leaf can receive free over-the-air HDTV broadcasts from multiple directions, so you don't have to move it to pick up signals from different TV towers.

The Leaf's sophisticated super-thin design is modeled after a mud flap antenna designed for the U.S. military. It can pull in stations in the UHF and high-band VHF ranges (channels 7-51). You'll generally get the best reception if you can place the antenna fairly high on a wall or close to a window, away from the TV and other components. The Leaf is reversible — white on one side and black on the other — and is also paintable for even greater room décor adaptability.

Product Highlights:

  • receives digital and analog TV signals — high-band VHF (channels 7-13) and UHF (channels 14-51)
  • range is 30 miles
  • paper-thin design provides versatile mounting options
  • includes 10-ft. detachable coaxial cable
  • designed and manufactured in the USA
  • 11-1/2"W x 10-7/8"H x 9/16"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

This product is functional for most of the local stations.

This product is functional for most of the local stations.

Pros: Free local TV stations without having to pay for cable.

Cons: Has difficulty picking up all the local stations with clarity.

Good Reception

NoMoreCable from Dayton, OH on 7/1/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This antenna worked pretty well. I bought two, one for TV downstairs and one for upstairs. All local transmitters are within 10 miles of my location and of the 18 stations listed as available I was able to get 14 downstairs and 17 upstairs; all major network stations are received. I did have to place both antennas facing the direction of the transmitters (so not truly omnidirectional for my location) but all and all a very good product. Simple to connect/hang and very discrete, may require you to try multiple locations to optimize reception for your location.

Pros: Small profile, easy to install, great for the price. Well made.

Cons: Placement orientation matters

Great product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

nice, slim design that is easy to set up and install. We don't get the best signal, but after a good bit of research, I don't think that is a direct reflection of the product.

Pros: I get my favorite 4 channels for this much total instead of $100 per month with cable.

Cons: Not perfect reception

Excellent Buy

Mrtony703 from South FL on 5/12/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent antenna and easy to set up. It took less than 10 minutes to set up and scan all the channels. The HD picture quality is excellent and no interruption when planes are flying over the house. The antenna gives us over 73 FREE channels. We were paying over $30 dollars a month for basic cable and we only got less than 30 channels. For the major TV shows we use Netflix and Amazon prime so in reality we are saving big moneys. This is a most to have

Pros: Looks excellent and trending. You can add the antenna everywhere. The best part is that you can paint over them to match your walls or decor. This by far is the best deal.

Cons: Needs better pins for tougher walls but I fixed the issue by using small nails

easy instalation

MaggyB from Tampa, FL on 4/8/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am disappointed that I do not get many channels and I don't get the same ones all of the time. This could be because of my location, but I am in an urban setting and I have tried different locations in my home. This unit should at least hold it's own settings, but I know nothing about how atmosphere, etc affect reception. I need something that gives me more than a few channels. I shouldn't have been too lazy to send it back.

Pros: Very easy to install. Instructions were clear and it looks nice on the wall. Most of the channels I receive come in with a good strong signal.

Cons: I only get a few stations and sometimes they break up. I don't always receive the same stations depending on the time of day.

Easy to set up, but reception varies depending on weather.

Pros: Easy to set up

Cons: Reception varies. I now get anywhere from 3-6 channels, which is more than without this product.

The flat antenna

Andre s from Detroit,mi on 3/31/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the best little antenna or I should say flat, it picks up more stations than the TERK HD antenna I got from Crutchfield.

Pros: It picks up more stations and it's easy to hide

Cons: None thus far

Easy to mount

JP from Cincinnati on 3/30/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I live in an urban area and it's feeding a TV on the top floor, so the conditions are kind of in its favor. It does what it's supposed to do and pulls channels from two metropolitan areas (the other being 45 or so miles away to the North). Only thing worth mentioning to potential buyers is that the antenna, itself, is reverse colors (black on one side, white on the other) but the cable it comes with is white. That was perfect for my needs but, obviously, won't fit everyone else's.

Pros: thin, light, easily mountable/moveable, not ugly

Cons: None

HD TV antenna heaven!

Eddie R. from Ozone Park, NY on 3/11/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did a few hours of research before I decided to purchase a Mohu Leaf antenna. I live in the city, so I do not need a digital antenna with a booster. This antenna is all you need. If you want to save money and stop paying ridiculously high cable TV prices that go up every year, then get this product. If you are reading this and want to join a legion of people that want to save money, do not hesitate to buy this antenna. I told a friend about it and he ordered it. He told his brother and he got one, too. Be smart! Use a computer to watch Netflix and use a Mohu Leaf to watch regular TV programming for free!

Pros: Easy to install right out of the box. Just connect to TV, connect to leaf antenna part to the wall or window and run a antenna scan on your TV. And unlike other digital antennas, this one is not in the way taking up precious space.

Cons: Wished cable wire could have been several feet longer to reach my window, but that did not pose a problem since I extended the cable wire by connecting it to a spare cable I had nearby.

Easy Pizy!

Trooper_Thorn from Evansville, IN on 2/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy pizy, take out of box read instructions and screw cable into back of TV then screw cable onto the Leaf and mount on wall near ceiling then run your TV's set up program wait for it to finish and wallah you have local TV. I am getting about 14 channels here in Evansville Indiana. I am going to use this in combo with Roku on my new TV when I get it in the Summer and this little gem and the Roku are going to get me off the Cable TV treadmill. Thanks to all the gang at Crutchfield for great service I will be using you for more electronics needs in the future.

Pros: Great price, easy install.

Cons: None for me.

Amazing Product

Pennsylvania Mike from Lansdale, PA on 2/3/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Amazing product - gets fantastic reception from cities far away. Now I can pick up my TV, plug it in, and watch it everywhere... Getting 40 channels at least in excellent quality, better than cable!

Pros: Stellar performance - towers in every direction - Philly, Allentown, Wilmington, New Jersey! And only 4 feet above ground...

Cons: None - but I did have trouble with the leaf ULTIMATE - the powered amp might have been TOO much...

Mike from Lansinf on 1/30/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced an old powered Terk with this. Works far better than that one, so a pleasant surprise. Instructions were sparse (none), so I just plugged it in and stuck the antenna in an open space behind dresser mirror.

Pros: Works.

Cons: As an incompetent mechanic, I was unable to place the antenna on the wall with the provided hook and loop stickers. A simple illustration would have been helpful.

Great antenna

MF from Indianapolis, IN on 1/27/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this antenna for use on a basement TV. Previously had been using an old UHF/VHF rabbit ears set placed above the drop ceiling and when perfectly set we could get the local NBC, ABC and Fox affilliates but not CBS. The old antenna could be adusted to get CBS affiliate but then could not tune the others. Never could get PBS. Reception was at times sketchy for all but the strongest signal and it seemed to be increasingly difficult to make the changes - plus it is a pain working above the drop ceiling with trying to swing around long antenna arms. The signal source for all of the major stations are within 10 degrees orientation from my house. Because it is flat and unobtrusive I was willing to leave the new Leaf antenna below the drop ceiling but within a few easy minutes I found a good location for the antenna. A couple of brads went into the floor joist better than the push pins and the TV channel scan picked up more channels than we will ever watch. I have not done a detailed check of what we receive versus what might be available (per antennaweb or tvfool) but I know we are getting some stations other than green. All I know is that I can put away the chair used for antenna adjusting for good and catch some PBS programs. Be aware that the cable orientation may affect reception. Great product and a great price.

Pros: Lightweight, unobtrusive. Easy to set up. Works great.

Cons: None

Works great!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product works as advertised. I am fortunate to live close enough to my local stations so I didn't need a booster. Get all channels very well.

Pros: It works.

Cons: None really. Was a bit disappointed that the tabs and push pins were not in the box. This was probably the shipper's (UPS) fault.

Tuning a New Leaf

TerryS from Portland, OR on 1/9/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just replaced a Terk HDTVa I've enjoyed using for several years, but kept knocking off it's stand and bending the two telescoping antennas. Being conveniently located between two close broadcasting towers (about 5 miles each way)I opted for the omnidirectional "leaf". It receives stronger signals on all channels even without the amplifier (a part of the Terk I kept just in case). This just could be the military's best kept secret! Happy? Oh yes, SEMPER FI!

Pros: Easy to mount using two small tacks. Blends in well with room decor. No need to rotate for optimum reception. Great performance for the price.

Cons: The military gets the kudos for this innovation--as if they needed it in Afganistan, ha! Good job soldier!

Works great

Joel from Minneapolis, MN on 12/25/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I tried one and it worked great on my main level so I bought to try in the basement. I tried various other highly rated antennas in the basement and none would work on all stations. This one brings in all of them and I was able to attach it to the wall behind the tv so you can't even see it!

Pros: Brings in all local channels, easy to hide

Definitely Worth It!

Rich D. from West Chester, PA on 12/10/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very good product. Using in a ranch house in heavily wooded area about 25 miles from towers and getting over 30 channels including all but one expected local network. I'm loving free HD.

Pros: Idiot-proof set-up. Two push pins are the only thing you will need and they come in the box. Delivers a great picture. Love that I can get program info with the signal. Thought I would miss having a guide, but that is not necessary either.

Cons: Wish the signal was stronger, but its an indoor antenna that's only 8 feet up for me.

Best Antenna yet

Tbirdvet from Michigan on 11/4/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I started out with the standard VHF/UHF antenna and I got 14 stations but 3 kept breaking up. I installed this and got 20 stations all rock solid. I mounted this about 3 feet above the TV on the wall. I found 2 feet to either side of center impacted reception so be sure to move it around. I cannot believe how thin this the antenna is and even the coax cable. Great product.

Pros: Very thin and light

Cons: none

Works Like a Charm

JohnE from Los Angeles, CA on 10/15/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wanted to look at alternatives to basic cable and wondered if I could pick up the full complement of over the air stations in the LA area. I can see the transmission towers of all the stations atop Mt. Wilson about 12 miles away, but the site said I could only get one station and only if I used the biggest and strongest antenna. However the tvfool website promised I could get everything with just a modest antenna. Their calculations were correct - once I plugged in the Mohu Leaf, dozens of channels came up. I live in the northeast part of LA in an area with hills and canyons - the guy across the street from me is about 18 feet lower than my house so he might have a different experience. I got very good service from the Crutchfield team when researching which antenna would be best for me, and the delivery was very fast.

Pros: Grabs loads of channels; very thin coax cable supplied (4 mm); small, thin, & light; black or white sides will blend in with your décor; a snap to install

Cons: None
