Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
The device checks in with the satellite to get a location of itself and puts it on the map. Know about its battery power management. If you set the device on "track mode" it will "locate" or "check in" every 2 minutes and use up more power. There are different "power management" choices. For example I have it set to check in every 6 hours which means the device lasts about week before it needs to be charged. But if it were to move out of its zone, then move back in its zone within the 6 hours, I wouldn't know it moved. That power management is OK for me since I use it to track our rental machine and not pets. Get used to using the device on something less important before using it on pets. That way you can learn about the Pocket Finder "Dashboard" alerts, notifications, zones, speed, google maps, power management. Know that there is a monthly fee.
Pros: Able to find itself anywhere in the world and display it on the map with approximate address. Map shows time it "checked in" and battery power. Helpful product support.
Cons: Accuracy sometimes off about 50 feet. Depending on power management and time you log on the map, the device may not display its current position but the position it was in the last time it "checked in" with the satellite. Will not get a zone alert notification until the preset check in time.
