Our take on the Audyssey Lower East Side Media Speakers

Audyssey's Lower East Side media speakers look good and sound even better. They were inspired by New York's Lower East Side neighborhood — their compact size makes them ideal for small rooms and apartments and their industrial design looks great with modern decor. They're built to perform, too. You'll get exceptional clarity, deep bass and balanced sound from your computer, iPod®, or even TV.

Designed to impress

Audyssey engineered every part of these speakers to work perfectly together. The drivers and cabinet were custom-designed for high levels of performance at every volume. Audyssey Smart Speaker™ Technology allows the speakers to adapt on the fly for better reproduction of all material — whether it's movies, games, or music.

Connect to almost any source

These speakers feature both an optical digital input as well as an analog minijack input, so you can easily connect to a TV, laptop, desktop computer, gaming system, or iPod. An easy access volume control lets you adjust the level, and a headphone jack makes it a breeze to switch to private listening when you want.

Sound great BIG

Greg from Belair, MD on 10/28/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very impressed. Sound as good as my 2.1 Altec Lansings. Bought these for a new laptop and traveling. First played them in a large, high ceiling log cabin chalet. Even with all the hard surfaces they sounded great. The bass is impressive. Highly recommend these speakers. Mids and highs better than Klipsch 2.1 Promedia's I also own.

Pros: Everything

Cons: If you are planning on traveling with these, keep the box. The passive radiators on the back would likely get punctured if you don't take precautions. Otherwise no cons except Crutchfield has discontinued them.

Exceeded My Expectations

Tommy from Odessa,Texas on 11/29/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Would highly recommend these speakers to others. My expectations were exceeded. Overall sound quality is excellent. I like the automatic power down feature. Power indicator light on front is perfect. Volume control knob is perfect. These speakers are absolutely the perfect size. Very nice looking with red on black.

Pros: Great sound. Excellent build quality.

Cons: None.

Fantastic Media Speakers

Andy from Philadelphia on 8/8/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A very nice piece of kit from Audyssey. Paired with a PS3 (optical out) for Hulu+, Netflix and some gaming. The sound is controlled, warm and loud enough to fill my 15' x 20' room. Frequencies in the dialog range are clear, not harsh. Action movies and games have real punch, even felt sitting 10+ feet away. Bass extension is impressive - the speakers never sound tubby and don't distort at higher volume. Great alternative to so many 2.1 setups. Be sure to take advantage of the Toslink digital optical input.

Pros: Build quality; soundstage; frequency response; small size

Cons: Volume control is limited to the analog dial on the face of the right speaker - a pain to adjust when they're sitting at the other end of your living room

Awesome speakers

C6Tiger from Lake Jackson, Tx on 8/5/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great! My wife has a set of Bose speakers in her office and she wishes she had these, because they have a bass that the Bose dosen't even come close to. I listen to quite a bit of music while working at my computer and these deliver a sound quality that I really like. The review by Crutchfield on these speakers is what sold me on them and I'm glad I bought them!

Pros: Great sound - great look

Cons: none

Sound great but...

Steve from Cumberland, RI on 3/15/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound. Excellent bass and immersive sound stage.

Pros: The great sound and optical input.

Cons: BUT the auto standby where they turn off automatically after half an hour necessitating a manual turn on may have me returning them. Might be a deal breaker. Will give it the weekend but if I find myself continuously turning them back on they will be returned and I will buy the Bose Companion 20 I think.

huge sound; small speakers

Jamey Niland from Hickory Creek, Texas on 2/27/2012

The LES system is one quite confident desktop speaker system. Bass extension is incredible. Really, seriously deep (40Hz) bass. The upper mids and highs are far more delicate than one would expect from a $200 pair of desktop speakers. Amazing! There is only one consideration, though - be very mindful of how close these are placed to boundaries, such as walls and monitors. If too close, the mid bass (150-350Hz) bloom is greatly exaggerated. In a free field, these are incredible, jaw-dropping speakers! PS - use the optical input - the 1/8" analog input leaves a lot to be desired...

Pros: bass extension; mid/high clarity

Cons: midbass sensitivity to boundaries
