About the Milennia MIL-BTREC

Jon Paul
Problem: You love listening to music, but you hate dragging that bulky album full of old, scratched-up CD's from vehicle to vehicle -- and you don't want to replace multiple receivers.

Problem: You love listening to music, but you hate dragging that bulky album full of old, scratched-up CD's from vehicle to vehicle -- and you don't want to replace multiple receivers.

Solution: The MIL-BTREC Bluetooth adapter from Milennia.

This compact accessory gives you the ability to enjoy Bluetooth® audio streaming. Plug it into the rear RCA auxiliary inputs of any compatible radio (check to make your receiver has them) and supply both power and ground to the MIL-BTREC. Once it's hooked up properly, pair it up with your iPhone®, Android smartphone or other Bluetooth®-enabled music player, and get set to stream music. It's an instant upgrade, without the trouble and expense of buying a new receiver!

The MIL-BTREC Bluetooth adapter is a great solution for your boat, your "weekend" car or truck, or a variety of other 12-volt applications. With the right adapters, you can even connect it to a home stereo with an RCA or mini-jack AUX input.

Note: If you want to connect this to the front mini-jack input on your car stereo, you'll need this stereo mini-to-RCA cable, and two female-to-female RCA barrel adapters.

More details on the Milennia MIL-BTREC

Product Research

Features

RCA-to-Bluetooth Adapter: The RCA-to-Bluetooth adapter allows your stereo receiver (equipped with a rear stereo RCA auxiliary input) to receive a Bluetooth audio signal. Now you can wirelessly stream music from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player to your stereo receiver through its Aux input (the receiver's source must be set to Aux). You will still continue to control your music from your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device. The adapter does not stream song/artist information to your head unit, nor does it offer hands-free phone communication.

Note: Once installed, you will need to pair the RCA-to-Bluetooth adapter with your Bluetooth-enabled audio device (from the device).

Connections: The RCA-to-Bluetooth adapter is equipped with two male RCA connectors which plug into the stereo RCA auxiliary input of your stereo receiver. The adapter also requires accessory power and ground.

Note: If your receiver has a 3.5mm AUX input, use AudioQuest's FLX-Mini-RCA adapter (703RCA2FM, sold separately).

Q
I am considering the Milennia MIL-BTREC Bluetooth adapter to connect to the Phono-in of an holder home stereo/intercom unit. The only thing I am not sure of is the power supply, as the MIL-BTREC is meant for automotive/marine applications, hence 12V, but my home stereo runs on 16V. I also read that car circuits go up to 14.4V while charging. I couldn't find any detailed specs, to see whether this unit might take up to 16V?
andyr  Feb 12, 2024

A
Greetings Andreas. Thank you for your question. That information you will not find anywhere online. Why, this adapter is designed for 12 volt systems. One thing you do not want to do is connect this into a phono input. Phono iputs are for the very low signal of a turntable. The phono inputs job is to raise the strength of the weak signal from that turntable. If you have an open RCA input other than the phono in, we have home use Bluetooth adapters on our website.

Greetings Bill. Thanks for your patience. I got in touch with the Milenia techs. They are pretty sure its 4.0, but he is also checking with the engineering department and will get back with me. If it is different than 4.0, I will update the post.

Q
Do I need a stereo receiver or can I plug this directly into the amp and power? I never listen to radio or use CDâ??s. I just want to use my phone with no car stereo.
jesse  Oct 03, 2023
1 answer
A
This Millenia MIL-BTREC Bluetooth adapter can provide signal to your amp Jesse, but it has no 12v turn-on lead to power your amp on and off. This unit is really designed to be used with radios that have an AUX input but do not have Bluetooth. If you are going amp-only with no head unit, the AudioControl ACX-BT1 is a better choice as it has a blue turn-on lead that can be connected to your amp to power on/off when the Bluetooth adapter sees a signal from your phone. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161ACXBT1/AudioControl-ACX-BT1.html

Can this be mounted out of site?
tommy  Feb 22, 2023
1 answer
A
Yes. This is intended to be mounted out of site. However, as with any Bluetooth device, be wary of mounting this inside of metal enclosures or behind several layers of solid material as doing so can limit range and reliability.

It will work for wired speakers but the signal must go through your amplifier first.

No. This is to connect to your amp or back of head unit to allow using Bluetooth.

As long as you have rca jacks on your current radio. I used a 3m head phone jack adapter and put it in the aux jack and wired it in to radio power line
david  Mar 13, 2021
A
It's not plug and play for any vehicle. You'll need the correct aux cord for you radio, adapt from comp to 3.5mm, and a noise filter between them. And it needs to be wired to ignition power and ground. Very simple for an experienced installer but might be difficult for a first timer. Crouchfield sells everything but the aux cable. I really love this product for its operation and ease of use. 10/10 would use again.

If your vehicle has RCA input jacks for video or audio then it should work. It works for my 2008 Cadillac STS.

What version of bluetooth does this device use? v3.0 or v4.0?
benjamin  Jan 20, 2020
1 answer
A
Hi Benjamin, thank you for your question. The Bluetooth Version being used by the Milennia MIL-BTREC has not been published. However, this device was released in early 2013, so it could be using v4.0, but that can't be guaranteed by us. Please contact the manufacturer at 843-416-2432. They should be able to give you a definite answer for that, Benjamin. Hope this helps!

Bought a stereo that has rca inputs in the back of it. I sent it to the restoration shop that is working on it for them to install whlie they have it. They are still working on the car and I don't think they have installed it yet. I am hoping it will allow me to connect my iPhone to the stereo but I won't know until I get my car back. The people that are working on it are very slow.

Hi there Chris B, this adapter does indeed plug directly into the amplifier RCA. The only tricky part is wiring the power to your vehicle. I had a professional install mine, but the RCA connection is exactly as expected.

I'm not sure what your application might be, but I had to use an adapter to connect this BlueTooth unit to my receiver. The adapter plugged into the Ai-net port on the rear of my receiver (Alpine CDA-105). My Crutchfield adviser was Norm who set me up with this. I would call him to confirm your application.

I have a 07 mazda 6i sport " non Bose system. I was told by a sales rep that a 822BTREC Milennia MIL-BTREC Bluetooth Adapter would work to connect my factory head unit to my amp and phone via Bluetooth but if I'm not mistaken I would need a factory aux. port to connect this and I don't have one. What would I need to connect these 3 things via Bluetooth? And thank you for any help.
bill  Mar 03, 2018
1 answer
A
The stereo would need an auxiliary audio input for connection from the MIL-BTREC. I'm not sure what amp you plan to install but but if your stock stereo does not offer the aux input, we'll need to look into other options for proving Bluetooth audio streaming from your phone. Would this device work as an audio output source if connected to RCA output rather than input? I already have bluetooth in my car however I added a dvd player with headrest monitors and would like the audio to stream through bluetooth so as to not make a hard wire connection into my center console.

I tried using this device to stream music from my Surface Pro 3 to a marine stereo and it did not work. Crutchfield took it back refunded and offered another suggestion - the Cobra Air Wave which solved my issues
jim  Feb 18, 2015
A
No. Unfortuately the RCA's only serve as an output device.
hugo  Feb 13, 2015
A
I would assume that this is meant to only be a receiver of the audio stream and not a transmitter. You might be able to use it as the receiver for the monitors if there is another device to use as the transmitter from the source. Hope this helps.

Q
My car has the RCA connectors inside the console compartment that is built into the armrest. There is also a cigarette lighter plug for charging in there. My question is this: can I connect the power wires to a standard cigarette lighter male plug and power it that way? I also have a USB port in there, but prefer to leave it free because I stream my iPod through the USB. Unfortunately, Nissan doesn't allow Android streaming through the USB with my set up, only Apple.

Thanks that helps a lot. And I think that noise is the alternator related. Because my old radio did that bad. But Igot a new hhead unit and it fixed that problem. But it still does it if I play my phone while charging it
darryl  Aug 28, 2014
A
It won't be as good as a wired system and it also depends on the source (your phone, etc.). In my installation, it picks up some engine noise even with all the best grounding of all the components. All that being said, it works well and is very convenient. I use it to stream music to my system all the time. I just know that I'm not going to get the best sound from it, so I'll use a wired connector when I want to crank it up :-)

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You could use the adapter with an amplifier directly, but I normally recommend using a line driver to boost the signal from the headphone output, such has item number 136CLRLC. That gives you independent volume control and better sound quality. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

How many amps does it draw? What size fuse should I use?
dan  Mar 05, 2014

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Milennia MIL BTREC is has a very minimal voltage, I will not have any specs on it because of how low it is. As far as fuse's go, this will not require an additional fuse, it will just splice into the power and ground. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

From the description on your receiver it looks like you have a mini-jack auxiliary input on the rear. This would plug into that connection (however you will need an additional adapter to convert from RCA to mini-jack). Yes, It remembers the last paired device and connects without the need to pair each time.

It generally paired automatically, although if it does and I shut the car off then back on (gas station, accidental stall, e.g.) I often (not always) have to re-pair it. On a side note, the unit shorted and caused a tiny puff of nasty smelling smoke to billow from under my dash. It was great while it lasted (six months) though.

Yes it pairs automatically. I used my phone and as long as I had the bluetooth turned on, it synced up.

I am looking for a bluetooth adapter that will allow me to use my cell phone handsfree through my trucks aftermarket stereo deck. I understand this unit allows me to connect my smartphone and stream music/media through my aftermarket stereo but will it allow me to make and/or recieve phone calls? You can hear the caller through the car speakers, but they can not hear you unless you speak into your phone from close range.
joseph  Dec 23, 2013

It doesn't have a microphone so no you cant use it for a phone. It also registers as a blue tooth head set with your smart phone so it is only good for playing audio. Great unit easy to set up I have one in my 71 vette
