Audiophile sound that won't break the bank

If you're a music lover who has yet to take the vinyl plunge, Music Hall's easy-to-use MMF-2.3 makes a great place to start. That's because Music Hall engineered this turntable to deliver outstanding value and performance that goes far beyond its price point. The MMF-2.3's minimalist design focuses directly on the critical components that benefit sound quality — the main bearing, motor, and tonearm. But that doesn't mean this beauty looks stripped-down. Music Hall also gave it a clean, streamlined appearance with an elegant high-gloss lacquer finish.

High-quality construction for top-notch performance

The MMF-2.3's sturdy MDF chassis rests on adjustable, vibration-damping rubber feet that provide a solid, low-resonance foundation. Its heavy steel alloy platter spins on a high-precision stainless steel and bronze bearing assembly for smooth, silent rotation. The DC synchronous motor ensures superior speed stability for accurate playback. The damped motor mounts and belt-drive system effectively isolate the motor's vibration from the chassis to prevent noise from being transferred to the cartridge.  Finally, the table's custom carbon fiber tonearm provides superb tracking ability to faithfully follow the grooves of your albums. A silicone-damped lift for gently raises and lowers the arm, protecting both the stylus and your records.

Quick and easy to assemble

Music Hall knows that turntable setup can be a challenge for the novice. That's why the MMF-2.3 comes out of the box virtually ready to play. Its pre-matched, factory-mounted phono cartridge and tonearm take the guesswork out of installation, and give you optimized sound quality with minimal effort. A few simple steps to dial in key settings like tracking force, anti-skating, and platter speed are all it takes to get this player primed and ready to deliver spacious, detailed music.

A great turntable for under 500 bucks!

Ken from Forest Hills, NY on 2/13/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This turntable is a very solid performer.Records sound really good with lots of detail.I really like the replaceable Stylus which is very hard to find on a high end machine. The setup was really user friendly. The build quality is near perfect. I enjoy listening to good music on it. The only con is the really cheesy felt mat but I have replaced it with cork Which is better for decoupling records anyway.

Pros: musicality

Cons: Cheesy cheap mat

Can't Imagine Better Sound

Polack Ralphie from Baltimore, MD on 12/24/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've steered clear of expensive systems after spending a bundle in the late eighties. I parked my high end Denon turntable in my music room and only brought it down in order to digitize LPs that weren't on CD. I started putting together an entirely new system piece by piece earlier this year. All from Crutchfield, an NAD integrated amp, Klipsch speakers, and an Onkyo CD player. After much investigating and hemming and hawing I eventually settled on the MMF 2.3 and I am ecstatic about the sound that it is delivering. Coupled with the Cambridge phono pre-amp (also from Crutchfield) I just can't imagine better sound coming from a system in my price range. And the service from Crutchfield is amazing.

Pros: Simple with no needless bells and whistles. Carbon Fiber tone arm. Super quiet operation. The stylus can be upgraded for even higher fidelity.

Cons: None that I have encountered.

Why did you buy this?

I had actually chosen the Teac TN30 but changed my mind after talking with Blake, my Crutchfield advisor. He recommended the Music Hall MMF-2.3, saying that the sound quality and construction were much better and were worth the extra money. [ Ryan  Apr 20, 2016 ]
