Savor the sweet sounds of vinyl

For an outstanding listening experience, give Music Hall's MMF-5.1 a spin. Turntables like this demonstrate why audiophiles remain so enthusiastic about analog sound, and has all us vinyl lovers here at Crutchfield reaching for our favorite records. Precise construction and careful attention to design and materials allow this 'table to retrieve astonishing levels of sonic detail from the grooves of your albums. And a high-gloss piano lacquer finish adds to this turntable's striking look.

Performance-focused features

The MMF-5.1's unique two-piece MDF chassis, or plinth, does more than just look beautiful — it also isolates vibrations that can smear sonic detail. The bottom platform supports the height-adjustable feet, motor, power switch, wiring and electrical parts, while the top platform houses the turntable's critical sound reproducing components — the platter bearing, tonearm, and cartridge. Six elastic isolating cones separate the two layers, virtually eliminating transmitted vibration for silent backgrounds and superior sound. The 'table's dynamically balanced alloy platter spins on a precision stainless steel bearing sheathed in a layer of Teflon® for smooth, steady rotation. The supplied screw-on record clamp ensures tight coupling of your records to the platter — which really improves playback of warped discs.

The MMF-5.1's alloy tonearm boasts rigid, one-piece construction and a decoupled, resonance-damping counterweight for exceptionally low-noise operation. The lengthy 9-1/2" arm allows for a very shallow tracking arc across the record, helping to reduce distortion. And the turntable includes a pre-mounted Music Hall Magic 3 phono cartridge specially custom-designed by Ortofon.

Get superb sound, without the hassle

One of the great things about vinyl records is that they force you to slow down and savor the act of listening. But Music Hall's MMF-5.1 won't slow you down much, because of its hassle-free plug and play design. Music Hall knows that turntable setup can be a challenge for the novice. That's why this 'table comes out of the box virtually ready to play. Its factory-mounted tonearm and phono cartridge take the guesswork out of getting started, so you can enjoy optimized sound quality with minimal effort. A few minutes to dial in key settings like tracking force, anti-skating, and platter speed are all that's needed to unlock the best sound you've ever heard from your record collection.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought the mmf 2.2WH a year ago, excellent turntable, and a bargain. Needed another one(big house) so the "why buy only one when you can have two for only twice the price" proposition (Hadden's) justified the purchase, but after extensive readings of the rave reviews on the 5.1, a price stretch looked reasonable. Well, the 2.2 is a bargain entry-level contraption, but the bigger brother at least doubly better for LESS than twice the price. A true high-end deck for a lot less than twice the price and an absolutely stupid bargain. N'uff said.

Pros: Price/performance ratio, like getting a Cadillac for Chevy money

Cons: Everything is pitch black, so I, Tony, a reckoned aerosol king, voiding the return policy and maybe the warranty, spin-painted silver the platter, the feet platforms and the screw-on clamp(not the knob). The small cosmetic change (done before on the 2.2) gives it a +$2,000.00 look.
