Freedom from wires

It's hard to focus on your workout when you have to devote energy and attention to making sure you don't yank your headphone cable out of your smartphone. That's not a problem with the Powerbeats2. They connect to your phone wirelessly with Bluetooth, leaving you free to concentrate on more important things like your jump shot or your stomach crunches. A built-in battery offers up to six hours of listening time. Charge them up with your computer or AC charger using the included USB cable.

RemoteTalk™ cable for music and call controls

The Powerbeats2 features a 20-inch cable with a built-in remote and microphone. The cable tethers the earpieces together and can be adjusted using the included clip. The remote lets you take calls and control music playback with most smartphones, including Apple® and Android™ devices (functionality may vary).

Product Highlights:

  • flexible ear hooks offer a secure, comfortable fit for exercise
  • dual drivers separate the woofer and midrange/tweeter for clearer highs and deeper bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great set. looks good came charged, very nice sound, and good battery life. I did not rate 4 stars due to the sound level, wish i could crank up volume more but I am sre there are laws keeping them at a certain volume. they will not fall off your ears and they are very comfortable. overall great ear buds.

Pros: comfort, battery life, sound quality

Cons: would like to see higher volume

Loved these but just had to return my 2nd pair. Same issue on both they stop charging. Build quality is suspect. Crutchfield was excellent both times on return. 1st time replaced and 2nd was able to get my money back.

Pros: Loved them - over ear was excellent and could wear them for hrs

Cons: Not reliable enough

Cons:

Great set of ear buds so far.....

Donald from Atlanta, GA on 8/25/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have to say after having tried a few different ear buds marketed for exercise use, these are at the top of my list for hard workout wear ability. They stay firmly planted in your ears no matter what kind of workout you do from free weights to elliptical to hard running on the treadmill. I will admit I haven't had them for months so I can not comment on the durability of these but if your wearing ear buds 20 or so times a month for a couple hours a day then how long are you expecting them to remain in pristine shape? I'd say give up a latte a day and buy yourself a new pair every 12 or 18 months if that's what it takes to enjoy your workouts.

Pros: Comfort and ability to remain firmly in your ears no matter what workouts your doing

Cons: None at this time.

Nice fit with great sound

Igy from Savannah, GA on 7/25/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The headphones came nicely packaged and just needed to be charged before use. Bluetooth connectivity was a breeze. The fit took a little bit of time to get used to and readjust, and now they fit great. The charge is adequate, just remember to charge them after a few hours of use (they advertise 6 hours of playback). The look and feel of the headphones along with great sound contribute to the quality of the product. Overall a great pair of Bluetooth headphones.

Pros: Sound, craftsmanship, fit, durability

Cons:

Absolute Junk

Crash from Grand Prairie, TX on 4/18/2016

Absolute Crummy item!! Sorry to all you users that gave them great reviews outta the box. My Question. How can you give your opinion on a product that you've only tried on or listened to for a minute. These things literally fell apart in my hands on month 10. If you saw the picks of my headphones You'd swear they were at least 3 or 4 years old. But guess what, They're not!! The wire from the earpiece popped out, and the volume controller literally wore down and fell into three pieces. Careful cleaning the ear canal because the felt in between pops out. And guess what. That voids your warranty. I sent them back and even though the ear stem and the volume control both fall into their warranty due to the felt in between the ears they voided my warranty. Their customer care and warranty policy is the worst I've ever seen. And for you that doubt me. Look at reviews on other sites and look at what people are complaining about and see how again they are just falling apart.

Pros: Sound good and are comfortable for the first 10 months.

Cons: They do not last. Poorly built. Poor customer service from Apple or Beats. Whatever or Whomever you wanna call them.

Powerbeats by Dre

Bart from Astoria, NY on 2/21/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got the Powerbeats to use at the gym, since using standard corded headphones has become frustrating. Decided to choose Powerbeats mainly because of the wireless feature, and the way the earpieces grip around your ear to prohibit the piece from falling out. Sound quality is ok - nothing spectacular, but when you crank up the volume to about 70-80% it seems to be the sweet spot, anything more and the sound becomes distorted. Battery life seems to be good, although I charge my set after i come home from the gym so it doesn't matter. Microphone works well when calling. Few color schemes to choose from. Overall very satisfied, I would recommend this to a friend.

Pros: Wireless Good grip in-ear, won't fall out when doing HIIT cardio or playing sports Colors to choose from

Cons: Sounds quality is average Not as comfortable as other headsets

Poor Quality

Jon from Indiana on 1/12/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After much research I decided to purchase these wireless headphones because they appeared to be everything I wanted. Wireless, good sound, they have an ear piece that holds them securely to my ear while I workout. I have several pairs of good quality headphones and other audio equipment (Sonos, Shure, Bose, ZVOX)so sound is important to me. They sounded fine, the reviews that say otherwise mostly likely just have a problem with this brand. After putting down the money for these headphones I thought I was buying quality that would last. out of the box they worked great. Wore them to the gym several times and for walks. Fit snug and sounded great. 5 weeks of use and they no longer power on, went online to troubleshoot nothing works. What a disappointment.

Pros: Fits well to ear, won't fall off. Sound quality good.

Cons: Quality is horrible for the price.

This product was just what I needed as a runner. Something that would not move or fall off while running. Sound quality is good the this type of product but I have heard better with other products. This product does not really reduce noise but overall, performs well for my intended use.

Pros: fits well to ear and does not fall out while exercising. Sound quality is good

Cons: Does not reduce noise well.

Jay P from Tennessee on 1/1/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased as a gift for my wife. I picked up the same model about 5 months ago and have been very happy with them. The sound quality is very good for wireless lightweight headphones. I use mine as a hands free device for my iphone at work and while driving, and also use them to listen to music and podcasts while running. Comfortable enough to wear for several hours at a time without hurting my ears. Battery life has met my expectations, as they seem to last all day on a charge and recharge fast. While I don't know what they mean by coolness factor, many people have noticed them and asked me how I liked them. Since they get noticed, I give it the 5-star coolness factor rating. They have held up well during normal use and I have not noticed any flaws. To be fair, they are not marketed as noise cancelling headphones. They are ok with music and phone calls during normal conditions. If you are looking to use them while flying, then you will be disappointed. I am a frequent flyer and they are no better than the standard iphone headphones at noise cancellation. I picked up a copy of the Studio 2 wireless beats for airline travel.

Pros: High quality sound for music. Great hands free device for calls. Long battery life.

Cons: Poor Noise Cancellation

Wish the cable would rest above the neck instead of on the neck, everyone I turn my head the cable gets stock either on my neck or clothing, also I changed the ear tips to memory foam from a pair of Koss plug headphones

Pros: Good bass Great volume Comfortable on the ears Cool design

Cons: Cable resting on neck Expensive

JonC from California on 12/5/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to fit, stay on ears well and great sound. Not Bose NR quality but very good and I am using this product primarily for their mobility, battery length and lack of wires while walking the dog and working out. Lightweight and easy to connect. One issue when walking the dog, iPhone is in my pant pocket and when I turn my head in one direction to check traffic before crossing the road, headphones lose connection to music temporarily until I turn my head back to center; slightly annoying interruption but not enough to dissuade my 5* overall rating!

Pros: Lightweight Easy to fit, with multiple ear pieces Wireless works great most of the time Coolness factor

Cons: Temporary disconnects from music source when turning head

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent product. I purchased the J Bird wireless earbuds and I hated them. The sound was good, but they would not stay in place. I do not have this problem with the Powerbeats. The sound is excellent and battery life is good so far. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wireless solution for working out.

Pros: Excellent.

Cons: None.

Great product

MikeS from California on 10/18/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used this product a few times now and have to say that the feel is great, the lack of a cord to get snagged is also very nice. As far as looks go, I don't care about that they are just a good product no matter who is endorsing it.

Pros: good feel, and sound quality is very good. If using in a busy city be careful because the noise reduction works so well that you might not hear vehicles coming up from behind.

Cons: volume control and settings take some time to get use to. So I just make my playlist ahead of time and try not to change things as I'm working out.

Overpriced & overrated. Sound is ok, only was able to hear in quiet environments. Had to turn volume all the way up in gym and outdoors & still could hear background noise. Plan to return should've went with first intent and purchased wireless solo 2 or studios.

Pros: Cool design Comfortable Refundable

Cons: Overpriced Sound quality Battery life

Great product! The product is very comfortable to wear and provides exceptional sound quality. The Bluetooth and call features interact perfectly with my LG phone. Battery life is better than expected and charges supper quickly.

Pros: comfort, sound quality, ease of connecting/set-up, and changing life

Cons: none at this time

Worked great, until they broke

Joe from Chicago, IL on 6/29/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used the headphones half a dozen times. Everything about them was great, until I went to use them and noticed the volume control casing had separated. Thinking it would snap together, I tried to repair this myself, no luck. Given no other reviews stating quality issues, I will chalk this up to bad luck, get them replaced, and try again. Although I'm highly skeptical.

Pros: Great fit for running, good sound, very comfortable

Cons: Short battery life, questionable quality, expensive compared to competition.

Bluetooth Issues

Chris in Houston from Texas on 6/29/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'll get right to the point. At this price point, you would expect these to work flawlessly. Unfortunately, I had Bluetooth issues from day one that were never resolved. I tried resetting both the phone and the headphones to no avail. I have no other alternative other than to return them. Bought the Denon phones for the little wife with no issues and half the price.

Pros: Sound quality, sturdy feel

Cons: Bluetooth dropouts drove me crazy and I returned them. Last beats product for me.

very reliable

Casey from Yuma AZ on 6/6/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At first I didn't think a pair of headphones were worth this amount but after trying a pair our during Crossfit and long distance running, I was impressed enough to buy a pair. They fit comfortably after finding the right ear bud out of the four that comes with them depending on your ear canal type. The loudness and quality of sound they produce is better than any other earbud headphone. The fact that I can charge them quickly and get an hours worth of music in a 15 min charge is pretty impressive. I am able to make and receive phone calls while bike riding too. If your into sports and exercise, these are the headphones you need. Designed for athletes and people who like to be outside exercising.

Pros: reliability, comfort, quality, sound, bass,

Cons: price

Great sports earbuds

TroyR from Des Moines, IA on 6/4/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very particular about the earbuds I use for running. I had nursed an old beaten pair of wired sports Sennheisers for several years because I was not happy with the price/value for anything new. I finally broke down and bought the Power beats 2 wireless. They are pricey but I have been happy with the purchase. These have worked great for running, in the gym, and other outdoor activities. They are a significant improvement over the original Power beats in sound quality and fit/comfort.

Pros: Sound quality, fit, sweat resistance, battery life, Bluetooth pairing process is easy, displays battery life on my iPhone.

Cons: Slight delay in the Bluetooth connection so is not good for watching video, R/L ear connecting wire can be uncomfortable if it gets out of position.

Great design. Poor sound

Jim A from San Antonio, TX on 6/1/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The concept and design of no wires is awesome. Unfortunately the sound quality appears to have been sacrificed

Pros: Design Comfort Call management

Cons: Music quality

So Great!

reginacking from California on 5/23/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The noise reduction is incredible, you can hardly hear anything outside of your music even when the volume is on low. I go to the gym a lot so the wireless factor is great! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that doesn't want tangly headphone wires!

Pros: - Noise reduction is incredible (you can't hear your surroundings) - Wireless is great (no tangly headphone wires)

Cons: Nothing! I love this product

Great for using while working out

Yanira from Añasco, PR on 5/20/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Being using them for a couple of weeks and they are working exactly as I expected; durable battery, lightweight and comfortable to use while performing any physical activity. I won't recommend them for music "quality" listens just for times when you need to be outdoor and don't need to be tangled with wires. Also, I think that their output quality highly depends on the source of the media and Bluetooth connection, but so far I haven't had any disconnection while using them. Very happy with them for now, I doubt that right now there are better wireless headphones out there for physical activity.

Pros: Durable battery, work really good while moving, they don't detach easily.

Cons: Not best audio quality for the price, can get uncomfortable while using for long time.

No No No

Brady from Gainesville, Florida on 5/6/2015

The absolute worst electronics purchase I've ever made. Horrible for my needs. Terribly overpriced and overhyped item. Don't waste your money.

Pros: Great fit for exercising. Great sound quality.

Cons: Battery life about 2/3 of advertised. No other notification other than a few beeps. My other headset let me know connection, battery and power status with real words when you powered it up. And it also told you BEFORE the battery died. This is a typical Apple product( yes Beats is now Apple). Its overpriced, overhyped and under featured. Spend less and get more with most other brands. Microphone picks up every sound but my voice.

Nice, but not great

TM from Charlotte, NC on 5/2/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed some new headphones for the gym so I decided to treat myself with these. Ended up returning them. This is a nice product but there are several problems: 1) if you're looking for the type of sound quality that you get with regular Beats wired headphones, you're not going to get it with these earbuds. The sound quality of this product is decent, but not even in the same league as with the regular wired over/on-the-ear headphones. 2) That brings me to my second point. I like the idea of wireless/Bluetooth, but it's pretty clear the sound quality is degraded compared to, again, regular wired headphones. And with the wireless capability, the earbuds are decidedly bigger/bulkier than regular wired earbuds. So if you don't mind a wire, and you don't want to look like a doofus at the gym with some bulky wireless earbuds hanging from your head, then save yourself a couple of hundred dollars and just get some wired earbuds. You'll get better sound quality that way too.

Pros: Well-built

Cons: Price, sound quality compared to regular wired Beats, bulky

This is an excellent product! I have purchased three other brands and they all failed in one or more functions. The Powerbeats beats them all. It is a little pricey but still less expensive than the total of three others that didn't meet expectations.

Cons: A mute button would be nice.

OMG it's Not a necklace - it's a Wire

MikeN from New Hampshire on 2/20/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I thought the thing connecting the ear buds was like a necklace kind of thing, but it's a Wire. I was imagining that the big Wire was something that could be removed, like an eyeglass chain. To my surprise - these are Wire! Don't be fooled - the largest feature of this product - is the big long Wire! If you were standing on one side of the room - and these headphones were on the other side of the room and somebody were to ask you 'hey what is that over there?' ... well you'd probably say something like 'I don't know ... two things connected by a Wire! I just can't believe they call these Wireless ... what in the world is Dr. Dre thinking? Trust me there is no way to pull the big Wire off the ear buds without destroying it. If I had to sum up this product with one word, do you know what it would be? Wire! Big long Wire!

Pros: I suppose there is one less wire going to my iPhone - so it's somewhat wireless - but only a little bit.

Cons: The Wire!

Not what I expected

frantona from MIAMI on 2/5/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Extremely bulky design (even on my big ears), which makes you look ridiculous. Awful lag when watching videos (I know its not its main purpose, but Ive tried other bluetooth headphones and this one is clearly the worst one, it even has lag when pressing the phone keyboard). Other than that the sound quality feels ok (I put 3 stars on sound quality not by the quality itself but because of the lag). Battery life so far OK.

Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Bulky design, Terrible lag (video / audio sync)

very well made headphone, I've been a Bose headphone guy for a long time and finally made the switch and i am never looking back. the sound is amazing, headphones are extremely comfortable, i forget that i have them on sometimes.

Pros: wireless range is great, i can definitely get 20-30 feet from my Bluetooth devise and still here a crisp clean sound

Cons: noise reduction isnt the best, they are by no means noise canceling but i can still hear surrounding noises with my music turned up, i wish the battery life was a little better, fortunately i can charge them on the go as i cannot get more than 5.5-6 hours out of one charge

Cons: Price, soung good not great.

I wear headphones every day. So, I saved $ to buy the bluetooth Powerbeats2 wireless. I have sampled other beats products and was impressed. These fall waaaaay short of the Beats products. The volume fluctuates on it's own.... Makes a popping sound from time to time.

Pros: They're built well and they're wireless. The battery lasts a few hours.

Cons: The volume fluctuates on it's own.... Makes a popping sound from time to time. The expense price.... They suck!

Powerbeats2 Wireless

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I tried several sports headphones (maybe 1/2 dozen). Though not perfect, the Powerbeats2 generally fit, stay in and sound good. I can't say that about any of the others I tried. There are some great designs out there, but all of the ones I tried fall short in one of those key categories (fit, sound, stay-in, wireless). The convenience of bluetooth and no wires combined with good fit and good sound made these worth the cost. I've only had mine a month or so, maybe 1/2 dozen workouts, but so far I like them.

Pros: Fit, sound, bluetooth, unobtrusive design.

Cons: Sometimes sweat builds up on them. Have to readjust fit once in a while to continue to get optimum sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would not recommend this to anyone. I returned mine for solo 2's.

Pros: Great sound and design. You can wear them at the gym, on the plane or while driving for hours w/ out discomfort.

Cons: 1. The Bluetooth doesn't work properly if the phone is in your pocket or covered. You get interference and the person can't hear you. 2. There's a video to sound delay when using Apps on you phone. (2 second delay) 3. Wouldn't sync to my PS4 (not compatible)

Features

Overview: The Powerbeats² Wireless in-ear Bluetooth headphones are designed for active lifestyles. They come with a flexible ear hook and four sizes of ear tips so they will stay in your ears as you work out. You can control your music and phone calls with the in-line RemoteTalk remote/microphone. The Powerbeats² are powered by a rechargeable battery, and come with a zippered storage case.

Bluetooth: The Powerbeats² features Bluetooth technology that delivers a clear wireless signal from your Bluetooth-enabled device for up to 30 feet.

Dual Drivers: Each Powerbeats² ear bud has two drivers to deliver your music with power and clarity. These dual drivers provide the Beats Signature sound to power you through your workout.

Water-Resistant: The Powerbeats² Wireless in-ear headphones are IPX4 water-resistant, so you don't have to worry about your headphones when you're working out in the rain, or when you're covered with sweat. The RemoteTalk remote/mic even has a no-slip grip to protect it when you're changing the volume, switching tracks, or making calls.

RemoteTalk: The ear buds are connected by an adjustable wrap-around flat cable with an in-line 3-button RemoteTalk remote and microphone. The controls are fully compatible with iPhone, iPod, and iPad, and partially compatible with Android, Windows, and Blackberry devices. The outer buttons control volume up and down for all of the aforementioned devices. The center button can control music playback on the iPhone, iPod, and iPad (pause/play, next track, previous track), as well as Voice Command and Answer/End call.

Rechargeable Battery: The Powerbeats² Wireless headphones are powered by a 6-hour rechargeable battery. A short USB cable is provided for charging the battery via your computer or another USB charging port. The battery has a quick-charge feature that will provide about an hour of playback with a 15-minute charge. A battery status LED on the top of the left ear bud indicates normal use (white), under 1 hour remaining (red), or under 15 minutes remaining (flashing red). Some smart devices provide additional battery status feedback via an on-screen icon.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

Originally I bought myself a pair Yarbuds, but when my wife saw them, she took them for running. So I started looking for her as a gift. And so I could get my Yarbuds back to mow. She loves them for running and working out. A bit pricey, you are paying for the brand.[ JAY M  Aug 22, 2016 ]
My wife has owned a set of these for almost 2 years with no issues at all. My son keeps "borrowing" them so it's time to get him his own set. Based on our experience with these particular earbuds you can't go wrong.[ WILLIAM J  Aug 21, 2016 ]

This is my second pair. My older wired earbud set wire is ready to break; instead of new wired set, got this second wireless set to use while other is charging. I use earbuds constantly, so now I can be charging one while wearing the other.[ MICHAEL  Dec 10, 2015 ]
wanted to give them a try. loved them. then, lost them on a recent trip![ TIM  Feb 15, 2016 ]
Excellent sound quality and by far the easiest and most comfortable "ear clip" design model earbuds to put on and remove from your ears. I still enjoy my LG Tone, however these Beats Powerbeats2 stay in place even with vigorous activity. The only con with this design as well as most of the other earbuds from other manufacturers is the swappable, different sized ear pieces come off and are easy to lose.[ Roger  Jan 01, 2016 ]
I picked this based on the reviews both here at the Crutchfield site and other sites[ Johnny  Dec 31, 2015 ]
Tired of corded headphones.[ Paul  Dec 27, 2015 ]
