MartinLogan Dynamo™ 1000W
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Good quality some Bluetooth connectivity problems
A big room can present problems for subwoofers. The MartinLogan Dynamo 1000W was designed to solve them. Worried your sub won't have enough power to fill your room with low-end rumble and bounce? The 1000W's built-in 500-watt amplifier ought to alleviate those concerns. Or perhaps you're nervous about having to place your sub far from your receiver to maximize bass performance throughout the room. With the Dynamo 1000W, you can do it easily with no long cables running between the sub and your receiver. The built-in wireless receiver and included transmitter offer wireless performance from 30 feet away for even more placement flexibility.
Out of the box, the Dynamo 1000W is configured as a down-firing woofer — perfect for placing it in corners or along side walls for maximum bass dispersion. But what if you'd rather place it someplace more discreet, like in a cabinet with your other home theater gear? No problem. You can easily convert this versatile sub for front-firing by simply removing and reorienting its detachable feet.
When you add the Dynamo 1000W to your full-range speaker system, your movies and music will sound fuller and more dramatic — not just louder. The sealed enclosure is constructed of high-density materials and reinforced with solid internal bracing to minimize cabinet resonance for cleaner sound. The 12-inch speaker is driven by a high-powered built-in amplifier that delivers 500 watts of continuous, clean power. Both are optimized for low noise and distortion, to produce bass that is not only bold, but detailed and tight rather than loose and boomy. That makes this sub a great performer with movies and music — not to mention a great match with MartinLogan's fine lineup of full-range speakers.

Good quality some Bluetooth connectivity problems
I added this in to my 20'x10' media room and it works great. I like to hear the deep sounds when watching a movie and it did not disappoint. I may not have needed 1000W but for my media experience, I am happy with the outcome.
Pros: Small, plenty of output, crisp deep tone
Really good sub. I originally got the 700w but was not heavy enough and when playing movies would move. Amazing quality!!!
Worthwhile upgrade, huge difference from 125w sub. Distinctive frequencies and unbelievable power.
Pros: Nice size, directs sound properly
Cons: No On/off switch for wireless, Waiting for *(special)
I needed to replace my 22 year old subwoofer I purchased in high school. Since I had recently replaced other speakers in my system with Martin Logan's and found them to be pretty much the best speakers I have ever heard at the price point, I decided to try this subwoofer after much research, but without listening to it (I have no Martin Logan dealers close by and I trust Crutchfield's return policy). I have to say that my $1,000 gamble paid off, as I could not be happier with the articulation and musicality of this sub. It is simply amazing. The bass notes in music tracks are clean, precise and have definition. Anything from dub step to jazz is elevated and becomes a completely new listening experience. This sub can start and stop on a dime, but also cut loose with a ferocious roar. One reviewer mentioned that the sub bottoms out. I have not found a challenge that this sub cannot handle, so I wonder if maybe his settings were not correct, as there are detailed instructions on how the sub needs to be set up and where it should be placed. I let my receiver handle the bass management and it works extremely well. The wireless connection included with the unit is simple to use and very convenient. This single purchase has completely changed the sound of my system; even more so than when I upgraded my home theater receiver last year. I highly recommend this sub if you are on the fence!
Pros: Musical, powerful, articulate bass. In the correct size room, you will never need another sub.
Cons: It cost more than my quality HT receiver, so it took me a few months to save up the $$$ and secure permission from my better half... ;)
Not what I was expecting. I am not the one to return items so I will just put up with it. I have been reviewing subs for about 10 months and had my mind made up on two subs. After speaking with Crutchfield they seem to talk me in to this Martin Logan sub which was never in the running for me since I have never heard of them for subs just for high end front and center speakers. I do not have the 50 hours in for the break in period so hopefully it gets better. My main concern is that it seems to bottom out in loud action scenes. I do not listen to loud like I know some do so I would assume that if you listen any louder then I have then it will be worse. Just not what I expect from the price that I paid for this sub. I should have stuck with my original subs.
Pros: Nice looking and small.
Cons: The little blue blinking light trying to find the wireless receiver is annoying when you do no use it wireless. Even in the instruction book it says to place a piece of tape over the blue light. Not what I expect from Martin Logan or anything over 1000 dollars. Bottoms out at crucial times of movies.
You must be kidding me , what a wounderful sub
Pros: the lats sub you will need
Cons: the last sub my neighbors wanted :)

Dynamo Series Powered Subwoofer: The MartinLogan Dynamo 1000w powered subwoofer offers audiophile grade performance and home-friendly aesthetics. Featuring a high-current 500-watt RMS (1,000-watt peak) amplifier and a 12" cone driver, the Dynamo 1000w delivers deep, tight, effortless bass for movie and music soundtracks. It can be configured as a down-firing or front-firing powered sub. The 1000w offers both a wired and wireless powered subwoofer connection to your home AV entertainment system.
Advanced, Ultra-Efficient 500-Watt Amp: The Dynamo 1000w's ultra-efficient, high-power amplifier uses variable audio tracking power supplies to drive its class AB output stage. With lower distortion and less noise than typical Class D switching amplifiers, this advanced design allows the amplifier to operate at much higher efficiencies than a typical class AB amplifier, delivering a true 500-watts of continuous power (1,000-watts peak).
High-Resolution, Low-Distortion 12" Woofer: The Dynamo 1000w's advanced-technology driver pairs a high-power magnet structure with a 12" polypropylene diaphragm to deliver huge excursion and sound output while perfectly preserving the tiniest bass detail; and all without a hint of distortion. The exceptional damping properties of the poly cone material also ensure the smooth, non-resonant response necessary for truly seamless blending with MartinLogan's electrostatic panel and Folded Motion driver technologies found in their loudspeakers.
Inverse Mathematical Equalization (IME) Filtering: An IME filter is derived from the inverse of the unfiltered driver response. Precision IME filtering yields extremely accurate low-frequency response; far superior to that provided by the simple second-order high-Q filters typically found in subwoofers in this price range.
Sealed Cabinet w/ Internal Bracing: On the outside, the Dynamo 1000w's cabinet is constructed from the finest composite material for acoustic integrity. Inside, critically placed structural cross-bracing acts an excellent baffle for the woofer while the added rigidity keeps cabinet-induced resonances and non-linearities to inaudible levels. As a result the MartinLogan Dynamo 1000w maintains a smooth, consistent response regardless of music or movie source material.
Front-Firing or Down-Firing Configuration: To maximize performance when installed inside of a cabinet or other discrete installation, the Dynamo 1000w's standard down-firing configuration easily converts into a front-firing orientation; no tools required. A grille cover and 90-degree RCA adaptors are provided for use in front-firing applications. Dimensions:
Note: If placing the powered subwoofer inside of a cabinet, it is recommended that there be a minimum of 3" of open space between the cabinet and the front and back sides of the powered sub.
Seamless System Integration: Comprehensive connection options, low-pass filtering, and phase control make integrating the Dynamo 1000w subwoofer into a multi-channel home theater or stereo music setup simple and seamless. The main left/right line-level inputs feed into a precision low-pass filter with a cut-off frequency variable from 35 to 120 Hz. For systems in which the AV receiver supplies the low-pass crossover, the Dynamo 1000w offers an LFE input that bypasses its internal filters. The phase control can be set to 0, 90, or 180-degrees.
Built-in Wireless Receiver: Although correct placement plays a key role in optimizing subwoofer performance, sometimes it imposes the inconvenience of running long lengths of cable through walls, along baseboards, or under floors and carpets. To solve the problem, the Dynamo 1000w incorporates a wireless receiver (digital RF transmission) for use with the included SWT-2 MartinLogan Subwoofer Wireless Transmitter which plugs into the subwoofer or LFE output of your home receiver or active soundbar speaker via stereo RCA (cable not included).
Note: You cannot add additional wireless receivers, transmitters, or subwoofers to this system.
Energy Transfer Coupler (ETC) Spikes: The Dynamo 1000w comes with custom ETC spikes which can be used along with the pre-installed rubber feet to enhance stability on thick carpets, or create tighter coupling between subwoofer and floor to enhance overall sound quality. The spiked feet add 0.625" of height to the powered sub.
Auto Power On/Off: The powered subwoofer will automatically enter a power saving mode when no audio signal is detected. The subwoofer will automatically come out of power saving mode when an audio signal is detected.
Break-In Period: The Dynamo 1000w woofer requires approximately 50 hours of break-in at moderate listening levels before its optimal performance occurs. This will factor in on any critical listening and judgment.
