Our take on the BlackRapid Cross Shot

The BlackRapid Cross Shot is a durable, lightweight camera strap that's ready to go wherever your next shot takes you. The strap is designed to be worn across the body from either shoulder, keeping your camera where you can reach it at all times. BlackRapid's sling system lets the camera slide as you raise it, so the strap stays on your shoulder even when you're shooting. Adjustable bumpers keep the camera in place when it's not in use.

Still getting the hang of it. Not sure how I like the fastening to the tripod mount tap. It's meant to hold camera up on a tripod, not sure how well it is suited to be used to hang the body+lens upside down. I came from a Tamrac N-27 boomerang. So this is a bit of a change. Other then the mounting concern, I like it.

Pros: *Lock to protect accidental disengagement *Nice rubber grommet *Seems very robust

Cons: *Could use better padding to protect camera body from buckle. Even with plastic lock, I put one of my wife's hair scrunchies there to protect the camera

Good strap

This product is substantial...made from very strong, good-quality material. The well-designed shoulder pad makes it comfortable as well.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Overview: The BlackRapid Shot is a simple sling-type cross-body camera strap. This ultra-light strap features a non-slip molded rubber shoulder pad. It can be used over the right or left shoulder.

Sling Strap: The sling strap concept makes it easy to carry your camera by your side, and quickly bring it up to the shooting position. When not in use, the camera hangs upside down at your hip. A threaded FastenR screws into the camera's tripod socket, and it held secure with a rubber washer. The locking ConnectR on the sling strap clips onto the camera via the FastenR, allowing it to glide up and down the strap. A Lock Star connector cover is included to keep the ConnectR from coming unfastened during use, and protects the camera body and lens from scratches.

Materials: The Cross Shot's shoulder pad is made of molded TPR rubber. The sling strap is 1" wide and adjustable from 53" to 63" in length. The strap includes a zinc alloy ConnectR (CR-2) and a black nickel-coated stainless steel FastenR (FR-3).
