Tascam's BD-01U Blu-ray player works well for playing movies and music in places where there may or may not be an official sound engineer on hand. Places like schools, restaurants, hotels, or board rooms. Or take my parents' church. The modest sanctuary from my youth is now decked out with video screens, large PA speakers, and even a live band setup. But every Sunday, they still count on the next available volunteer to handle sound and video.
This heavy-duty player looks and feels reliable. You can pop in a Blu-ray, DVD, or CD and feel confident it will play as expected — important when you're presenting movies, slides, or music to a group or crowd. There's even a front-panel USB port for music or slideshows stored on a thumb drive.
There are several video and audio playback modes that are handy for both live performances and rehearsals. For example, you can "repeat" a music track or play a movie “frame-by-frame” at the tap of a button. And once you've mastered the remote or front-panel controls, it shouldn't take long to explain them to anybody else who needs to use this player in a pinch.
The Tascam BD-01U slides into a single rack space of an A/V cabinet, and it includes the hardware you need to mount it. There's an array of outputs for connecting to pro and consumer gear. You can send a crisp 1080p picture to your receiver, projector, or HDTV via HDMI. This player supports Dolby® and DTS® surround sound formats.
You'll find plenty of connection options on the back of the Tascam BD-01U Blu-ray player.
Digital and analog audio ouputs include balanced XLR outputs — hard to find on a Blu-ray player these days.
