Celestron Observer's Accessory Kit
Our take on the Celestron Observer's Accessory Kit by Crutchfield's Eric Angevine
This Celestron accessory kit can be used in any telescope with a 1.25" focuser. With two extra eyepieces and a Barlow lens, you'll have four different magnifications to choose from. The 17mm Plossl eyepiece is good for medium magnification with most telescopes, allowing you to view entire planets. When you want to get closer and look at the details, that's where the 6mm comes in handy. The third lens is a 2X Barlow lens which doubles the magnification of any 1.25" eyepiece you drop in, increasing your viewing options.
The included filters help draw out specific features: the medium-blue filter enhances contrast of the cloud belts on Jupiter and the deep red filter is a good choice when you want to define the polar ice caps on Mars. The moon filter blocks out glare on brightly lit bodies like Venus and Earth's moon.
The kit includes a microfiber cloth for safe cleaning of sensitive optics, and a hard plastic carrying case lined with foam so lenses won't get jostled or nicked when you're on the move.

Overview: The Celestron Observer's Accessory Kit includes a variety of eyepieces and filters, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a high-impact plastic, foam-lined carrying case. The kit comes with the following lenses and filters:
- 17mm Plössl Eyepiece
- 6mm Plössl Eyepiece
- 2x Barlow Lens/T-Adapter
- #80A Blue Filter
- #25 Red Filter
- Moon Filter
Lenses: The 17mm and 6mm Plössl eyepieces can be used with any telescope with a 1.25" focuser. They each have a four-element design with a 52-degree field of view. The lenses are fully multi-coated for crisp, clear images and increase light transmission. The 2x Barlow lens/T-adapter fits between the eyepiece and the telescope to double the magnification of any 1.25" diameter eyepiece. You can attach an optional T-Ring, compatible with Nikon or Canon DSLR cameras for astrophotography.
Filters: Adding a colored filter to your eyepiece can enhance certain details on a planet's surface. The #80A is a medium-blue filter that enhances the contrast of cloud belts on Jupiter and the polar ice caps on Saturn, or increase the contrast on the Moon. The #25 filter is deep red in color and can help define Saturn's polar ice caps. It blocks quite a bit of light coming through the telescope, so it should only be used on bright objects or with a telescope with a large aperture. The Moon Filter cuts down on the amount of light reflecting off the Moon to give you a better view of the surface details. It also works well with Venus, enabling you to detect the phases of the planet more easily. All of the included filters work with any 1.25" diameter eyepiece.
Carrying Case: The black, high-impact plastic has die-cut foam rubber to protect your lenses and filters. There are additional cut areas for additional eyepieces or accessories.
