Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I like it when I don't have to add the qualifying phrase, "at this price." These Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 are some of the most highly respected headphones on the market, period. The fact that they come in at a relatively affordable price is just gravy.
They offer incredibly detailed, well-balanced sound that works for almost any genre of music. There's not a ton of bass, but it is very tightly controlled. In fact, there's not one sound characteristic that jumps out at me — it's just an overall pleasant listening experience.

After much deliberation, I finally decided to pull the trigger on a new set of cans for use primarily at work. Seeing that I listen to an array of music and for long periods, I wanted something with a solid blend of comfort and superb acoustics but was also wired. I looked at several different options by audiophile grade, reputable manufacturers and had an opportunity to listen to all those in consideration with the exception of one set (a pair of Focal monitors). Once I'd done so, I decided on these outstanding Audio Technicas and have grown to enjoy them since first placing them on my head and firing up my fave Pink Floyd song. Excellent build quality, a clean and high end look, and clean audio are all hallmarks of the MSR7. I've yet to be disappointed and don't suspect I will be. Give them a listen and you'll understand.
Pros: Overall tonal clarity Clean, clear bass Expanded frequency range vs non "Hi-Res" headphones Subdued, sharp look and overall design Comfortable earcups Tight seal prevents noise intrusion without ANC Three included cables (one with mic for calls) High quality storage bag
Cons: Doesn't fold down as small as some competitors Hard travel case would be preferred for this price point
I suppose I would qualify as an audiophile, which is to say besides having the hardware I have a trained ear for high fidelity sound. These headphones are incredible. Some headphones are "tuned" to produce more bass (Beats) but these cans thankfully do not color any of the sound. While the lows are certainly there, they are not over boosted. In a word, these headphones are remarkable. I've owned headphones that cost four times as much that did not sound much better. And the fit and finish of the Audio-Technica is far superior. At their price point, they simply cannot be matched. Speaking of value, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x can be had for less than on sale and sound just as good. In my view, they don't look quite as nice as the MSR7 which is an extremely good looking set of headphones. As for comfort, I have had no issues. I've read other reviewers complain of a soft vinyl bag instead of a hard case for transport but I have no issue with that either. I cannot recommend these headphones strongly enough.
Pros: Accurate sound, high quality fit and finish, superior in every way at their price point
Great sound! Very comfortable to wear and very stylish. Very good this product, I recommend
Really enjoy this headphone. Great sound clarity and build quality for the price.
Pros: Great sound clarity and build quality for the price.
Cons: Cables could be better.
I always wanted to have an over the ear headset that i can use rof music and phone calls, after doing a lot of research i decided to get the MSR7, it gas a great sound very clear, bass is just right not too much, phone calls are clear too, very nice headset, best decision i ever made.
Hook these to the soundblaster pocket soundcard, and you have the next thing to cd quality, on bluetooth. A bit of breaking in, but their highly mobile, their downsized a bit. Great at 96k bluetooth. Coming close to replacing my wires with these, not quite but almost, best to date for me.
Pros: Nice aesthetic for the price/performance value, and highly usable.
Cons: Takes a bit of breaking in to achieve comfort level, but a good mobile phone.
Excellent sound. It is the best way to get into Hi-Res headphones without having to pay a lot of money! I definitely would recommend them to anybody who is looking for superior quality headphones at a decent price. Crutchfield took care of all the shipping and it arrived right on time. It just needs to include a cord with the normal sized plug instead of the miniplugs.
Pros: Great sound! Very comfortable to wear and very stylish.
Cons: I would like to see a cord with the normal size plug instead of the miniplugs that come with all three cords. I have to use an adapter to plug into my McIntosh preamp.

I was needing a hi-def set of headphone non Bluetooth . I did a lot of research of many headphones by reviews and also Crutchfield takes and I came to the conclusion that these was the best value for the money . I plan to get a nice pair of Bluetooth headphones later on but got what I need most at the moment . I feel the sound quality of these will exceed any Bluetooth headphones on the market . It received excellent reviews in sound quality and comfort. The prices is reasonable and the 2 year warrantee is important to me, I like a company that stands behind their product. Unlike Bose and Sony that have higher price tags with only a 1 yr warrantee. [ ThomasZ Jan 28, 2018 ]
