Several years ago, I worked in a music store that manufactured its own line of PA speakers. We used EV woofers and high-frequency drivers exclusively because they were very reliable and sounded great in our enclosures. Things haven't changed — ElectroVoice's EKX powered speakers sound great, and will improve the sound of your live peformances without taking up a lot of room in your vehicle.
The powered loudspeaker today
EV's EKX-15P 2-way powered PA speaker features a 15" woofer and a 1" titanium high-frequency compression driver housed in a sturdy plywood cabinet and driven by a 1500-watt Class D amplifier. Capable of producing up to 133 dB, a single EKX-15P would work well for a small acoustic act or jazz ensemble in a 500-seat auditorium or nightclub, for example. A louder band would want two of these speakers plus a matching powered subwoofer or two, like EV's EKX-15SP or EKX-18SP.
Versatile connections
The two input channels can handle microphones, line-level signals, and even an unbalanced pair of RCA connections from a portable device. A preamp output lets you easily connect another speaker or subwoofer to your EKX-15P.
Onboard signal processing
The EKX-15P features EV's QuickSmart DSP controlled by a single knob and LCD indicator. You can choose between program mode presets, mounting location bass response presets, three bands of EQ, and an adjustable crossover for adding a subwoofer. You can store and recall up to five settings. A limiter protects the components against damage due to overdriving, indicating "CLIP" and then "LIMIT" to tell you to turn something down.

Features
1500W Class-D Amplifier: The Electro-Voice EKX-15P utilizes a 1500W (Peak) Class-D high-efficiency amplifier for high-power output (up to 134 dB SPL).
Two-Way Driver System: The EKX-15P utilizes a two-way driver system with an Electro-Voice-engineered 15" bass woofer and a horn-loaded 1" high-frequency titanium compression driver to provide exceptional audio quality and reliability.
Signal Synchronized Transducer (SST) Waveguide Design: EV-patented Signal Synchronized Transducers (SST) waveguide design provides precise and consistent coverage (90° x 60°), minimal distortion, and maximized acoustical loading. The waveguide (or "horn") is placed forward in the enclosure to help time-align the low- and high-frequency transducers (a.k.a. the woofer and tweeter).
QuickSmartDSP: QuickSmartDSP allows easy setup via four application presets (Music, Live, Speech, Club); variable sub crossover (80, 100, 120, 150Hz); 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble;) location modes (Tripod, Monitor, Wall, Suspend), five user-programmable presets (store & recall settings); independent input level control; and master volume control.
Inputs & Outputs: Balanced Mic and line inputs (Input 1/Input 2) with combo XLR/1/4" and RCA inputs provide versatile mix capabilities. Input 1 also features a stereo unbalanced RCA input can be used for connecting sources, such as a CD player or MP3 player. An XLR output is used for daisy-chaining multiple EKX full-range or subwoofers together.
Rugged & Portable Enclosure: The EKX-15P's enclosure features stylish-yet-rugged 15mm plywood construction with a rubber polymer-based coating that provides the ultimate in durability during transport.
Mounting Options: The Electro-Voice EKX-15P can be used as a floor monitor with its built-in 40° angle, pole-mounted or stacked with an ELX subwoofer (sold separately), or mounted on a tripod speaker stand (sold separately) via its 36mm (1-7/16") socket. It also contains eight M10 threaded points to suspend the speaker using an optional mounting kit (sold separately).
