Features

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" PEI balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The speaker basket has multiple mounting holes and is designed to fit a standard 3-hole 6-1/2" application, Ford's 4-hole 6-1/2" application, and a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" application. (When mounting in a 6-3/4" application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.)

Q
Is Kenwood KFC-S1666 Sport Series same as Kenwood KFC-S1666 interms of performance and sizes? I am puzzled cant find any data on sports series but just found them from some page. Whats sport series
chimm  Jul 24, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Chimm, and thank you for your question. The KFC-1666 model was an earlier edition. The KFC-1666S is the new Sport Series. Kenwood has 3 levels of speaker models. Sports are their more entry level, and most affordable, the next level up is their Performance Series, then their top level is Excelon Series.

Q
What kind of 4 channel amp should I run for a set of 4 speakers? Wondering what power I should look for
johnathan  Apr 28, 2023
1 answer
A
Great question, Johnathan. These Kenwood KFC-1666S can handle 30-watts RMS, and are a really great choice for aftermarket or factory radios and amplifiers that do not exceed the 25 to 30-watt RMS range. If you have plans for an amplified system, I advise using a speaker with a little more power handling like the JBL Club 620F's in the first link below. The Kenwood KAC-M1814 in the second link below would be a great call! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_109CL620F/JBL-Club-620F.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KAM1814/Kenwood-KAC-M1814.html

Q
I have a 2003 Volvo v70 Base, I know some of the cars in that year come stock with a amp some of which go up to 200W, the radio is HU-613. I am concerned that these speakers are going to get to much power since they are rated for 30W. Will these work?
guillermo  Aug 30, 2022
1 answer
A
Unfortunately we do not have a precise RMS wattage rating for the individual channels of your factory amplifier. It is unlikely that these speakers will suffer due to overpowering, but we're happy to make recommendations for speakers to handle more power while also working with your factory system. Please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Do you still get the free hardware you need to install them ?
david  Aug 21, 2022
1 answer
A
We do recommend including the appropriate installation gear on your order for aftermarket speakers. You may find these parts as well as all of the items we carry to fit your vehicle by using our Outfit My Car tool: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

I have an 05 GMC Envoy. It has Component speakers. Do I need to modify the wiring to use these? I don't understand crossovers and such, I'm an OLD GUY!
james  Apr 05, 2022
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if these will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Is it worth it to buy 4 and replace all four doors?
alex  Oct 17, 2021
4 answers
A
In my case it was worth it. I was replacing the head unit and wanted crisper sound so I decided to replaced all 4 factory speakers at the same time. For $50 a pair they are an economically good choice.
james  Oct 17, 2021
A
Yes any aftermarket speaker is going to sound better than factory. I bought the cheapest set and the quality from old to new was significant
frank  Oct 17, 2021
A
Yes, they are good speakers.
holly  Oct 17, 2021
A
Definitely an improvement from stock not anything special but definitely get the job done
sean  Oct 17, 2021
Q
I read a review that said the speakers would sound bad If your car stereo doesn't have good watts per channel like 6 - 12 (RMS). I looked up my stereo and couldn't find the rms but could find that it's 75 peak watts. Would this be a good speaker for my stereo? (I don't have an oem stereo)
tri  Oct 16, 2021
1 answer
A
The typical aftermarket radio outputs 14W RMS or higher. However, not all do and more information is needed to give a confirmation either way. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check

Q
Do you recommend buying the tools to take off the door panel or can you use stuff you have at home?
boden  May 18, 2021
2 answers
A
Having the right tool for the right job always helps.... you can easily find plastic tools to help make panel removal easier without damaging the panel... don't use screwdrivers and other tools not designed for that job
edward  May 18, 2021
A
If you're only going to do this one time, you could probably get by with wrapping a soft cloth around a flat-headed screwdriver. But I'd generally say it's worth buying the tools.

Q
I went to wire in these speakers and got them wired in and turn them on and then it blew a fuse and a replaced it and now nothing works? the pickup I'm using is a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500.
dalen  Jan 24, 2021
1 answer
A
I put them in a 2005 Silverado and everything went fine . they sound great. I'd check out the rest of your fuse box. The stereo fuse and ignition fuse are separate. Did you use the wiring from Crutchfield? That's one reason I bought from them, is the adapters to factory wire harness. I'm not much help.
stan  Jan 25, 2021
Q
What do I do with the wires?
james  Dec 15, 2020
3 answers
A
All I remember is that it was really easy to do. They sent extra wire connectors so the speaker connectors would fit to the car door speaker connections. Basically I didn't have to modify ANYTHING. I bought these for my 2002 Dodge Intrepid ES. You should just be able to plug each speaker with the wires to the connectors on the car.
dion  Dec 29, 2020
A
You purchase an adapter for your vehicle and the adapter plug comes with a wire diagram to show you were all the wires from the radio hooks to the adapter

Will MTX magnum auto MB210SP mega bass package. Be a good fit and not be too much wattage or blow the speakers?
marcus  Oct 17, 2020
2 answers
A
The MTX bass package you mentioned takes a lot of power to drive it. Not sure what kind of Amplifier and battery system you have on your car but my install using the 6.5 in speakers was a straight forward door speaker replacement for my Frontier truck and driven by the Kenwood deck I replaced my factory Radio\CD player with. It was not a bog boom box install.

roberto  Oct 17, 2020

Each pair comes with two brackets, one for each speaker. So when buying for the front and back, you will have the right amount of brackets. I suggest also buying the car specific speaker wire adapter too.

I bought these speakers to replace the OEM speakers in my 2005 Land Rover. I had to fabricate a template to mount these to the original mounting locations but that was rather easy and they worked and sound fine. You may have to do the same if your Lexus IS350 does not use a standard 6.5" round mounting. Hope this helps. Mike

Can I connect this to my 2005 g35 sedan with a Bose system (from factory) with out having to buy an amp or anything else? Can I just put it and listen to music with out any modifications?
carlos m  Oct 03, 2019
1 answer
A
While these can be installed into the front and rear doors without having to do any modifications, we do not recommend using them with the stock Bose amp. The stock speakers have a lower impedance than these speakers which means these Kenwood speakers will not even get you back to the same volume levels that you have now. The PowerBass L2-652 speakers fit just as easily as these and also have the lower impedance to work with the Bose amp. Here they are: www.crutchfield.com/p_151L2652/item.html

Q
I have a 2010 Colorado. The front doors have tweeters in the top, and speakers in the bottom. Am I gonna have to get tweeters too? Or am I good with just these speakers? Are the existing tweeters gonna cause a problem with the tweeters on these speakers? Am I gonna just have to bypass the tweeters that exist?
chris  Aug 04, 2019
1 answer
A
For best results, we recommend replacing your speakers with a component set that has a separate tweeter. When doing so, you would be replacing the tweeters that came from the factory. If you decided to use a coaxial speaker and leave your factory tweeters alone, they would not interfere with each other, but may have slightly different sounds.

These speakers should give adequate bass response, mine went into an '04 pt cruiser and delivered good bass for a relatively small driver.
kurt  Mar 19, 2019
A
The bass is fair for a round speaker. Better then any others I have tried. However the 6x9 speakers sound alot better
robert  Mar 19, 2019
A
I have mine in an 01 Xtreme SS and they sound great! No distortion and clean mid & highs. For bass I have a sub & amp so I'm not sure about the bass they produce. They sound good & clear with no distortion at all at any level.
armando  Mar 18, 2019
A
The bass response may be slightly improved over the factory stereo, however if you are just looking for better bass you would be better off investing in an aftermarket amplifier and sub, or aftermarket speakers and an amp.

Wich will be a great tweeter for these speakers?

I think the Kenwood KFC ST01 tweeters would be the best match with those. They use the same PEI material and have similar power handling so should blend well. Actually, David, I installed them in my Lexus, not my Land Cruiser.

I would say that if you have even a little experience doing installation, then it isn't hard. I found some YouTube videos about removing the door panel, and it was easy after that. Make sure that you observe how to put the automatic door lock mechanism back in place. Also, when testing the new speakers, be aware that if the stick tweeter isn't plugged in, the new speaker won't work.

Should be pretty easy. I installed it on my 1997 Nissan Sentra in about an hour. Then took me about a half hour to install it on my 1998 Honda Accord after the Sentra died.

Not really sure what you are referring to but, the speakers are pretty universal. I would check online and see what other owners have done or get an idea of what you may run into.

I used these speakers in my front doors. If you're using these for the doors, they'll fit perfectly.

For my application on a 2000 Accord it was plug and play, the speakers fit into the stock mounts perfectly and the wires connected no problem (with the included wiring harness they gave me)

When I installed mine Crutchfield supplied the speaker mounts and connector to make the install as easy as possible. Now I don't know the type of car your installing them in or where your getting them from, but if you haven't purchased them yet I recommend crutchfield.com.

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.
