Overview: The PetSafe Basic Bark Control Collar effectively and humanely stops your dog from barking when you don't want him to. When the vibration of your dog's bark triggers the sensor probe, a static correction is delivered by the contact points. Each static correction is accompanied by an audible beep. The collar fits dogs with neck sizes from 6" to 28", and can be trimmed to size. The collar weighs 2.6 ounces, and should work effectively on dogs 8 pounds and over.

Effectiveness: The effectiveness of the Basic Bark Control Collar depends upon your usage of the collar and the temperament of the dog. You should notice a reduction in your dog's barking within the first couple of days of wearing the Bark Control collar. Some dogs will be trained quickly and may not need to wear the collar for a long term. Other dogs may associate not barking with the collar, and will only control their barking while wearing the collar.

Progressive Correction: The Bark Control collar starts with the lowest level of static correction, and progresses through six levels each time your dog barks within 30 seconds of the previous bark. If your dog does not bark again within 30 seconds, the collar will reset itself to the lowest level of static correction. As an added safety feature, the Bark Control collar will automatically shut off for 3 minutes if your dog barks 15 times or more within a 50-second period.

Waterproof: The Bark Control module is submersible up to 5 feet for 30 minutes. This allows your pet to jump in a pool or get a bath without harming the collar. To prevent water from entering the module, you should check to see that the battery is in the fully locked position before bathing your dog.

Power Requirements: The Bark Control collar is powered by the RFA-67, an easily replaceable battery specifically designed by PetSafe that also increases water protection for the collar. Average battery life is 3 to 6 months, depending upon how much your dog barks. A Low Battery indicator light will flash when the battery level has reached a weakened state and needs replacing. Additional batteries can be obtained from the manufacturer.

Precautions: The Bark Control collar should not be worn for more than 12 hours a day. If the collar is worn for too long, or made too tight, the dog could develop skin damage. You should reposition the collar on the dog's neck every hour or two. You should never attach a leash to the electronic collar as this will cause excessive pressure on the contacts. A separate collar should be used with a leash.
