Q
Is this subwoofer loud/powerful enough that I will be able to feel and hear a large difference over the factory subwoofer?
zachary  Mar 03, 2021

A
I have mine in a 1697 VW Beetle, and it rocks, so I'm pretty sure it would sound better than a stock sub.
david d.  May 19, 2021
A
Hell Yeah, I have a traverse and this doesn't take up too much room and it's powered. So no need for Xtra wires and finding a space for the amp & the Subwoofer ??. This is an awesome good deal. It hits like a 10" but compact like a 8". Also I have 2 of these. One going in the wife fusion soon. But it now or regret it later. FYI, Sound ordnance have a 10", but it's not a powered amp.
charlie  Mar 04, 2021
Q
Can you connect door speakers to this unit as well?
shaun  Jul 22, 2020
1 answer
A
There are two options for wiring in that application, one being the RCA ports on the back as a sub out from the head unit. The other would be wiring from the door speakers to the back of the sub.
liam  Jul 22, 2020
Q
Can you always connect door speakers to this unti?
shaun  Jul 22, 2020

A
No, not intended for this installation.
edward  Jul 23, 2020

No you connect your door speakers to your deck unit (I.e. radio). This sub unit is independent, plug and play.
charlie  Jul 22, 2020
A
I believe so. I have it connected to my trunk speaker wires.

Q
What if I only have one pair of high level inputs? Car has factory sub.
chris  Jun 07, 2020
2 answers
A
My sub seems to be working fine with one pair but my factory system prevents the volume to get up passed a certain point that the factory sub can't handle. When I had these on a previous car with an after market stereo, the volume was twice as loud. These still sound great but very disappointed I can't crank it up.
allan m.  Jun 07, 2020
A
Chris this is a plug and ply setup. This sound ordnance is self powered. If anything you have more bass hitting in your car. I'll guarantee this'll sound better than your factory sub woofer. Good luck????

Wire harness for oem head unit in 10 caliber mainstreet. Nice nav bluetooth touchscreen dvd player however wanna add amp and sub? Can you make a harness?
dante  Dec 07, 2019
1 answer
A
The best I have is a harness that plugs into the stock subwoofer's wiring which could then be used to help get the audio for the new amp/sub setup. Here is that harness: www.crutchfield.com/p_120726514/item.html

Q
Does anyone know what the resistance is on the speaker level input? I would like to know the load placed on the HU. Factory unit is designed for an 8 ohm load. thx yall.
ian  Jun 23, 2019
1 answer
A
The Speaker Level Input does not present a load on the factory wires. The subwoofer is wired to 4 ohms and presents a load to the built in amplifier but not the factory head unit. You should be able to install that in your factory system without issue.

Q
Could I safely power this with the cigarette lighter in my trunk? I see this sub is self-fused for 7.5 amps, and my cigarette lighter is fused for 20 amps. Seems to me that the cig lighter would be plenty sufficient. Thanks.
cameron  Aug 08, 2017
2 answers
A
Yes you can...I used the lighter wiring.
lou h  Aug 11, 2017
A
I would not recommend this wiring approach. The sub's fused amperage rating is internal to the unit and misleading. Any powered sub or amp requires a stand alone feeder cable of at least 8 gauge directly from the auto's battery. Although the cigarette lighter could turn on the sub, it's ability to continuously provided the needed power under load and/or higher volume would diminish the sub's sound quality and put unwanted strain on that particular electrical circuit.

what are the high input level switch things and how do the work?
jesus n.  Jul 20, 2017

It's for speaker wires if you wish to use them instead of Rca wires. Just use what cruthfield says to use

Does the built in amplifier turn off when it doesn't have a signal? I need to know if I need switched power or not
mike  Mar 08, 2017
5 answers
A
The remote on wire was wired directly to the radio so it's turned on when the power to the radio comes on. Haven't had any problem.
anthony  Mar 09, 2017
A
No the amplifier doesn't say on, no switch is needed. Shuts down when car off.
samuel  Mar 08, 2017
A
Yes it turns itself on and off. I bought the amplifier wiring kit with it and it worked great but you need to follow the directions in the kit.
mark  Mar 08, 2017
A
Yes, as long as you have your blue power lead coming from your head unit hooked to it.
john  Mar 08, 2017
A
Hi Mike. You will need to run a switched power source to the B-8P from the antenna or other auxiliary lead on your head unit. This is in addition to the heavy guage main power and ground. Hope that helps.
chris  Mar 08, 2017
Q
what is a good way to mount this sub? are there any spots that you can drill in to to secure it?
joe  Oct 21, 2016
4 answers
A
My daughter's Aveo has a spare tire cover/trunk liner that covers almost the entire trunk so there was literally no place to mount the box. I ended up using wide, adhesive backed velcro and adhered the "hook" portion to the tire cover and just sat the box right on top of it. It holds it well enough that it won't bounce or slide, but still allows you to pull it off to get the spare out if needed. I just left some slack in the wires so it can e pulled into the back seat . Works great.
chad  Jan 24, 2017
A
What I love about it is that it is easy to put in and out of our SUV. I would not mount it at all. I have never had an issue with it rolling around unsecured. How ever, use a flat rubber bungee cord if you must.
mario l  Oct 24, 2016
A
I have two of these in two different cars. I've never needed to mount them to anything as they are heavy enough not to bounce around. I did put some grippy drawer liner stuff underneath to keep them from sliding.
chris  Oct 22, 2016
A
I didn't want to drill into it and risk hitting something inside, so I stapled some 3" wide velcro to the bottom (hook side) and put it in my trunk. The velcro holds on to the carpet VERY well

Q
will adding a sub make my other speakers sound clearer? also if i amp my other speakers how do i go about that considering this is a powered sub with its own amp?
joe  Oct 17, 2016
2 answers
A
hi if you add the sub you only have more bass and don't change anithing on the other speakers . But if you put and amp on that speakers that makes sound better.
santos berardo  Oct 17, 2016
A
This sub is perfect if you just wanna had bass to all your music it sounds amazing for the price and it brings new life to the music. If u buy a separate amp for just your door and rear deck speakers and they aren't stock speakers they will get a boost in sound and cleraity. Hope this helped!
francisco  Oct 17, 2016
Q
Will adding a sub ease the tension on my other speakers? i know subs are meant for bass and low frequencies, but will adding a sub make my other speakers focus on just the higher frequencies?
joe  Oct 14, 2016
3 answers
A
Unfortunately no, this sub has its own power supply and is just receiving the signal from your head unit. If you want the other speakers to focus on their own frequencies I suggest adding and external eq or sound processor
keith  Oct 17, 2016
A
If you want the sub woofer to handle bass only, turn the receiver's bass all the way down in the equalizer and turn the volume on the sub woofer all the way up.
shannon l  Oct 17, 2016
A
Yes, the sub will help balance out the sound in your car. It will be a great addition to your system. This sub will not drown out your system by adding too much base.
steven  Oct 17, 2016

Q
This sub has a 7.5amp fuse mounted in the box. The instructions say a fusible link must be installed within 18" of the battery. Does this box need 2 fuses or does the 7.5amp in the box cover the need for a 2nd fuse?
richard  Aug 02, 2016
4 answers
A
No,all amps have an inline fuse near the battery to protect the amp and battery from surges or short circuits, so yes it needs both.
raymond  Aug 02, 2016
A
I think the 2nd fuse is for the protection of the cars electrical system. I put an a fuse inline from the battery to the sub.
john  Aug 02, 2016
A
If you don't put a fuse closer to the battery then any current or spike will travel the entire length of the power supply wire before it hits a fuse. This is not a problem on a fresh install. But after a while if there is a spot along that wire that has possibly become exposed it could be a danger. I would def put a fuse in line close to the battery just for long term safety.
michael  Aug 02, 2016
A
I did not place the fusible link in my wiring and it works just fine, I have had no problem at all. I hope this helps!

Absolutely. It will work with any factory system as long as you use a converter. The sound will blow you away

Q
What ohm impedence is the speaker set at?
gordon  Mar 07, 2016
2 answers
A
I would not make the change in subs. Bandpass enclosures (the ones that are worth it) are finely tuned. That being said, the 8" in the Sound Ordnance enclosure is the same thing you will find in a similar Dual product. The sub it matched to the amp, and the airspace is matched to the sub. You could try mounting a Rockford Fosgate sub in there, but your results may actually be worse. It all depends on the Q of the sub and what the RMS value is in relation to the amperage provided to it. I will say this: The Sound Ordnance B-8P is a very, very efficient sub system. I will also say that the Rockfor Fosgate PS-8 is equally impressive, if not more. Both are top-notch, but swapping parts between the two is not a great idea.
patrick  Mar 17, 2016
A
If I had to guess I would say 4 ohms, but that will not matter: The sub has a built-in powered amplifier, so all you have to worry about is power, remote, and signal wiring. Everything else is internal.
patrick  Mar 07, 2016
Q
This is a GREAT small Subwoofer! Question.... do the 4 LED lights come on when you power up or is there a switch to cut them on? I haven't seen them come on yet. No big deal, but if it's on there, I'd like to see it. THANKS.

Q
Does this system turn on and off with the radio or does it stay on ? And how does this sub compare to the sound ordnance m2-8svc
jency  Dec 10, 2015
1 answer
A
The Sound Ordnance B-8P features a remote turn-on lead that you would connect to your radio so that it turns on/off when the radio does. The woofer used in the B-8P is nearly identical to the Sound Ordnance M2-8SVC; so they would likely sound similar depending on what amp you chose to power the M2-8SVC sub.

paul  Nov 25, 2015

A
I have this hooked up with my challenger factory deck. I have two of them in my trunk and they sound great. If you have RCA outs it will work or you can splice into some speaker wire with and RCA converter.
my  Nov 28, 2015
A
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving, Paul, It will work with a factory deck through its speaker wires into the speaker-level inputs of the Sound Ordinance sub. It's not difficult to connect. Allow the sub for at least a week of low power in order to properly "break in", afterwards, you can hit it hard and it will sound even better. Goodluck and have fun with it.
alben k  Nov 27, 2015

You need a deck with a 12V trigger connection

Q
Will a remote bass controller hook up to this subwoofee set? I need to be able to easily turn off the bass when my wife drives and turn it up when I drive.
steven  Feb 01, 2015
3 answers
A
If your car head unit has rca sub out it will
roy g  Feb 02, 2015
A
Steven, Unfortunately the answer is no. There is no provision for a remote bass control module. The only way to remotely turn off the unit would be to hook up some kind of toggle inline with the "REM" or remote wire. If this is critical to your decision, then you may want to look at the B-8PT, as it does come with a remote bass controller. I hope this helps with your decision. Oh, BTW, the B-8P is very impressive for the money! Sincerely, Marc

Could i connect to my sony shelf speaker system for my room with a two way audio cord?
adam  Dec 11, 2014

A
I would think you would have to have a 12 volt converter to make it work.
keith m  Dec 12, 2014

I would not think so since the amp runs off a 12 volt negative ground system.
my  Dec 11, 2014
A
This is a 12v car system so you would not be able to plug it in to your home power outlet. If you had a 12v power supply you might be able to make it work.
henry  Dec 11, 2014
A
Probably not because you need to have a 12 volt source to have the amp on this unit to operate hope this helps.

Q
Can I get the amp kit free with this?
kurt  Aug 13, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: At this time we do not have a special where the amp wiring kit is free with the purchase of the Sound Ordnance B-8P Single 8" Powered Bandpass box. We do, as of this writing happen to have one of those in our Outlet Open box inventory for $107.99 which would save you a few bucks and you still get the full warranty. You can learn more about our Outlet inventory here: http://www.crutchfield.com/app/product/outlet/outletfaq.aspx For that subwoofer, you will need a 10 gauge wiring kit. For your convenience, I have created a cart with the box, wiring kit, and a few other accessories you may find helpful. You can view that cart here: http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc111/app/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=1128039 If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the sub models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Yes it would. I put mine in a 2011 Malibu LTZ and it sounds good for what you are paying for. With the seats down it sounds way better. Is it a 600w-12" monster? No. Does it hit a little and make the sound more full (and vibrate my rearview a bit!) YES. I like it as an entry level, plug n play, nothin crazy combo. Hope this helps.

Best bang for the buck on these bp 8's. You won't get ground rattling lows like with 12's but well worth the money. I liked it so much I now have two in the trunk of my challenger. You can feel and hear the bass with the back seats up. Lights are nice also for when I take her to the car shows. I listen to rock and country mostly and these are ideal for that genre.

Joshua, I bought this sub to get a little extra sound out of my stereo and it is in the small trunk of a 1979 Camaro Z28 and it fits, there is not alot of room in this trunk but it does fit. This Powered sub sounds great and does pack a nice punch for 80 watts. If you are looking for ground pounding sound this is not the unit for you, however if you are looking to enhance the sound and want a deeper bass this is the right unit it really does have deep pounding bass. This powered sub is mated to a Kenwood in dash CD player and Kenwood 6X9 threeway speakers in the back deck and 2 4 " two way speakers in the dash and it sound better than I expected.

This would work perfectly in your car. You wont have any trouble hearing this at highway speeds even with the wind blowing like crazy. This sub is loud, deep, and clean. I would definitely recommend getting this sub!

Josh, yes, this box is pretty versatile. It has decent controls for the built-in amp and it's an efficient design that produces good, loud, clean bass! Hope this helps! Michael

It would work great with seats down. Probably not so good with seats up.

Plenty of bass for that. In back of my SUV (open air back) and I have the bass turned down. Hits hard!

is it practical to have in a small enclosed trunk in an 01 Toyota camry? I don't want to shake the car apart but I do want to be able to hear it at highway speed. I also have the ability to put the seats down.

I am running an aftermarket pioneer deck and speaker for me this answer to a great job you don't rattle my car yet I can still feel the bass on my front seat but I have it in my 96 Ford Mustang which is a small car but I think it's should be good for the Camry

I have one in the back of my Chevy Cruze. Plenty of bass even at highway speed. It doesn't really take up too much trunk space. Won't rattle your car apart but it does have enough power to vibrate the rear view mirror.

It's a great sub. Sounds like it cost a lot more than it does.I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla and it's perfect.

I put mine in a 08 Nissan Xterra. It added just enough bass. It was not over the top, but definitely enough to hear over the mids and highs.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. The outer coating should help prevent sliding around, and this unit will put out more than you need, but you can adjust that. Just make sure your head unit has 12V trigger connection, as this sub requires it. rock on

Josh, I think its a really nice powered sub. Youll be able to hear as it does give some THUMP ........... not like a separate amp and sup set-up ........ but enough that you can hear it and be happy. My only suggestion of caution ........ look up the dimensions carefully, maybe find a spare cardboard box and cut it up and tape together with simple masking tape .......... basically youd make a rough box to match the size. Then you'd know if you have enough room in your trunk to fit it. Its pretty big, and it didn't fit in my hatchback well......so I had to go with a smaller "more flat" version. Had I made the quick cardboard model, it would've saved me a return shipping trip. Anyways - good luck .....hope I helped ya' out!

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
