Our take on the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G

The Nikon AF-S 35mm f/1.8G lens is a great choice for everyday photography. Its large maximum aperture gathers lots of light so you can use faster shutter speeds to "freeze" moving subjects. It's also perfect for shooting crystal clear photos indoors — without using a flash. And the lens' compact, lightweight design won't weigh down your camera bag.

Warranty Information

Overview: This lens has a fixed focal length of 35mm; equivalent to 52.5mm when used on a Nikon digital SLR camera with an APS-C image sensor (for which this lens is specifically designed). With a maximum aperture of f/1.8, this lens works well in low-light conditions.

Built-in CPU: The lens has a built-in CPU which allows it to communicate with the camera body for focus and exposure functions. A set of CPU contacts is located on the lens mount for interfacing with the camera body.

Auto Focus: Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet autofocusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject-working distance through the focus range. Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables ultra-high-speed autofocusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation. The manual/auto focus mode switch allows quick response to situations requiring manual focus operation.

Aperture: Because there is no aperture ring on this lens, the aperture must be set on the camera.

Diaphragm: The lens is equipped with a fully-automatic, 7-blade diaphragm that produces a rounded aperture. Out-of-focus images in front of or behind the subject are rendered as pleasing blurs.

Optional Accessories: Compatible optional accessories include 52mm screw-on filters; including circular polarizing filter.

Why did you buy this?

I am hoping this lens gets me better pictures in a dark auditorium [ JULEE  May 28, 2018 ]
I have been using a Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II lens. It has a fantastic lens that can cover a lot of situations and is very versatile. I decided to go back to the nifty fifty days, by purchasing this 35mm DX lens (about 50mm equivalent on a cropped sensor) for my Nikon D90 camera. I'm taking a trip and wanted a prime lens that could take great indoor photos as well as take amazing street and landscape photos with a lens that is closer to what our eyes see. [ Brandon  Dec 13, 2017 ]
Good reviews, price was right, my first lens outside of the kit lens. Looking forward to results of this purchase. Camera is Nikon 3300. [ Joepro  Dec 11, 2017 ]

For their specs and quality [ MARIO  Mar 16, 2016 ]
Great lens, with versatility across situations including low-light conditions. It's the one lens I want with me besides the two zoom kit lenses. It's particularly nice in family situations where you can get by without a flash. It's much like having the 50mm lens from the film SLR days; people who have only used digital formats may not be as enthusiastic about a 'standard lens', but it's a great addition to any camera bag. [ GROVER  Mar 08, 2016 ]
Watched some videos on YouTube and preferred this lens over the 50mm. Can't wait to use it for getting bokeh in the foreground and background, cheers! It's very light weight too! [ Kenneth  Jan 20, 2016 ]
