Dog activity monitor with six-month battery life
Our take on the FitBark 2 by Crutchfield's Eric Angevine
Build a healthy lifestyle for you and your pet
If you don't wear a fitness tracker yourself, odds are you know someone who does. And if they're good enough for humans, why not for our beloved pets?
The FitBark 2 Activity Monitor is a flexible, powerful tool that helps you set appropriate health goals for your dog, track her progress, and share that information with friends, family, and even your vet.
Track your pet's health and wellness with the amazing app
The FitBark app is very robust. First, you enter information about your pet's breed, age, and weight. Then, you decide what kind of lifestyle you and your pet want — athletic, active, easygoing — and the app suggests ways to achieve that goal.
You'll have short- and long-term goals, and your pet will earn Bark Points for each day's activity level. You can track your dog's progress over days, weeks, months, and years, and measure them against similar dogs in the FitBark family.
The importance of sharing
We often share progress reports on social media just for fun, and you can do that with the FitBark 2. But you can also choose to share daily results and journal entries just with family and friends, so other caretakers know what you know and can react accordingly. If you hire a dog walker or board your pet, you can get an idea what her day is like while you're apart. Even better, you can share information directly with your vet to help get a sense of how your pup is feeling — a major boon when your patient can't use words!

- Quick Start Guide
Overview: FitBark 2 is a new activity monitor that clips to your dog's collar (up to 1.5" wide). It has a built-in, 3-axis accelerometer, and tracks your dog's activity and sleep throughout the day and night, saving the data in its memory. Once you have uploaded the data, you'll be able to view your dog's activity over a period of time, including the amount of time he's been active, and how much rest and sleep he gets. This data allows you to set goals, catch early signs of illness or discomfort, and maximize the health of your dog.
Device: FitBark 2 is a small, waterproof (IPX67), bone-shaped device that attaches to your dog's collar via zip ties. (Two 6" zip ties are required every time you move the device to a different collar.) The tough, high-impact polycarbonate device weighs less than 1/2 an ounce, so it works with dogs of all sizes. The accelerometer turns your dog's motions into data that can be viewed in the FitBark mobile app or web dashboard. FitBark 2 stores up to 100 days of minute-by-minute data, and syncs via Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) to your dog's profile on your mobile device where you can view the data. The sync range is approximately 30 feet. The device has a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery which charges via the supplied USB cable. A fully charged battery provides enough power for up to 6 months of monitoring. Dimensions: width 1.53", height 1.023", depth 0.49".
FitBark App: The free FitBark app monitors your dog's activity so you can track his progress. What your dog does can be categorized as Rest (lying down, sleeping), Active (moving, walking slowly), or Play (fast walking, running). Abnormally long periods of resting time can be a sign of illness or pain. BarkPoints are awarded based on the percentage of the time your dog is active or playing. You can compare the results of your pet to others dogs of his breed, and to other FitBark users. FitBark 2 can be synced to "human" activity trackers from Fitbit, Jawbone, Apple Watch and HealthKit, Jawbone, and Google Fit. The FitBark app is compatible with iPhone and iPad with iOS 9.3 or later, and with Android devices running OS 5.0 and up.
