Our take on the Samsung SmartThings Outlet (2018) by Crutchfield's Eric Angevine
Do you often forget to shut off the coffee maker in the morning? Turn it off remotely with the Samsung SmartThings Outlet.
Smarten up home lighting and appliances
My home has several small devices I'd like to be able to turn off and on remotely — my coffee maker, living room lamp, and decorative seasonal lights, to name a few. The Samsung SmartThings Outlet responds to a free app, so anything you plug into one of these compact outlets can be powered up or down easily, even if you're already halfway to the office.
Advanced control options
If you have several SmartThings devices, you can use the app to set up advanced Routines. For instance, a "Morning" Routine might involve the coffee maker, living room lights, and TV all responding to a single "on" command.
You can also set the Outlet to come on in response to an optional SmartThings sensor. I've always liked the idea of having my interior lights come on as soon as the arrival sensor is detected, so I don't have to stumble my way into a dark foyer with an armload of groceries.
