MTX's Thunder TA Super Amplifiers offer a long list of technical innovations and convenient features that make this amp at home in any system. And MTX's Prizm EFX feature allows you to match the color of the display to your car and to adjust its light to pulse with the music.
The TA7402 2-channel amplifier sends 100 watts RMS per channel to your full-range speakers, or you can bridge the amp to single-channel mode to send up to 600 watts RMS to your subwoofer. Smart Engage turns on the amp when it senses a signal on the speaker-level inputs, eliminating the need for a lead from the receiver.
Special cooling and output stage technologies maintain the amp's reliable performance, even under extreme stress. You can adjust the variable high- and low-pass filters, equalizer, and bass boost to complement your speakers. Active Resonance Control removes the upper bass peak found in many vehicles, so your music gets right in your face.

Prizm EFX: With the MTX Prizm EFX, you can adjust the color of the display to match your vehicle interior. The display color can be set to red, green, blue, or any color in between. If desired, you can switch Prizm EFX lighting to "pulsate" with the beat of music.
Xtant Technologies Cooling (XTC): The Xtant Technologies Cooling (XTC) thermal-regulated, turbo-charged intercooler supplies fan forced cool air evenly and constantly through tightly packed, bonded fins. Fan speed is continuously variable and controlled by amplifier's output load, temperature of heatsink, and transformers. Exhaust of internal heatsink is strategically positioned to cool transformers to maintain maximum performance at all volumes.
Pure N-Channel Design: The pure N-channel design is more linear than typical N-Channel designs, so the speaker you connect to the amplifier will be better controlled. The signal travels through fewer parts so the signal-to-noise ratio is enhanced, the power rating is better, and the amp runs louder, longer.
Smart-Engage: When using the speaker-level input, the amp automatically turns on when it senses signal from the head unit, eliminating the need for a remote turn-on connection. In many cases, this feature will allow you to install the amplifier without removing your radio.
Quasi Parametric Equalizer: This one band equalizer provides individual frequency and -/+ 12 dB gain adjustment controls. Any frequency from 30 Hz to 80 Hz can be boosted or cut up to 12 dB.
Active Resonance Control (A.R.C.): Most vehicles have a natural peak that occurs at about 200 Hz. The A.R.C. feature allows you to cut 200 Hz up to 15 dB, removing unwanted peaks in your mids and highs that occur in most vehicles.
External Bass Control: The External Bass Control lets you adjust the output level of the amplifier from anywhere in the vehicle. When attached to the mounting bracket, the External Bass Control has the following dimensions: W=1.602", H=0.979", D=2.578" (including the knob).
Internal Crossover: The built-in crossover, adjustable from 40 Hz to 350 Hz, can be set for high-pass or low-pass operation, or it may be turned off for full-range output. When set to high-pass, the crossover has a slope of 12 dB/octave, and the output is stereo. When set to low-pass, the crossover has a slope of 24 dB/octave, and the output is mono.
Bi-level Inputs: The RCA inputs will accept both speaker-level and line-level signals. To accept speaker-level input, you must use the supplied high-level adapter cables.
Capacitor Terminals: The amplifier has two set screw terminals to provide power and ground connections for an optional capacitor.
Input Sensitivity: The input sensitivity switch can be set to x1 (line-level input) or x10 (speaker-level input). When set to x1, the input sensitivity can be adjusted from 100mV - 1V. When set to x10, the input sensitivity can be adjusted from 1V - 10V.
Performance Certificate: MTX tests each amplifier, and the technician records the "actual" power output on the Thunder Amplifier Dyno Certificate included with each amp. The amp must meet or exceed the rated specification in order to leave the factory.
Set-screw Terminals: The power and ground set-screw terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on, capacitor, and speaker set-screw terminals will accept up to 8-gauge wire.
RCA Inputs: The RCA inputs will accept both speaker-level and line-level signals. To accept speaker-level input, you must use the supplied high-level adapter cables.
Remote Gain: This minijack allows you to connect the supplied External Bass Control.
Wiring Kit Fuse Ratings: This amplifier is equipped with three 35-amp fuses, so its total fuse rating is 105 amps. The Streetwires and EFX 4-gauge amplifier wiring kits sold by Crutchfield include a 100A AFS (mini-wafer) fuse. It is recommended that you replace the fuse supplied with the kit with a 125A AFS fuse (item # 211FAFS125). For other 4-gauge wiring kits, or if you're using bulk 4-gauge wire, a Streetwires 4-gauge AFS fuse holder is available (211FHXS4).
