About the Peachtree Audio M24

Eric A.

Good-looking and versatile powered bookshelf speakers

I have speakers in my home that only do one thing, and that's fine. For everyday use, I crave the kind of flexibility offered by a pair of Peachtree Audio M24 powered stereo speakers. They're compact enough to fit just about anywhere, and they're absolutely loaded with ways to connect wired and wireless sources. They sound spectacular, and look amazing, no matter where you position them.

Need to make a wired connection? The Peachtree Audio M24 has you covered with analog and digital audio inputs, a USB connection for your computer, and more.

Oodles of ways to make a wired connection

I mentioned these speakers are versatile, and that starts with the wired connections you can make. There's a USB Type-B port with a built-in 24-bit/96kHz digital-to-analog converter that will give your digital files the love they deserve.

The included optical input makes them great for improving sound for TVs and gaming systems. It also lets you run them with a Sonos Connect, so they can play anything you have on your existing Sonos network.

If you're partial to analog sound, never fear! You'll find a stereo RCA input on the back of the right-hand speaker as well. There's even a switchable phono preamplifier built in, so vinyl lovers can start playing records without going through a receiver or external preamp.

Strong Bluetooth® for wireless convenience

Peachtree hasn't forgotten the convenience factor, by any means. Anyone who walks into your home with a favorite playlist they'd like to share can connect to the M24s via Bluetooth, and start streaming.

My hands-on experience with the M24s

When I first came to work at Crutchfield, Peachtree Audio was one of the brands I instantly fell in love with. These M24 speakers encapsulate what makes Peachtree a personal favorite: they're elegant, efficient, and versatile. I put them on top of a nice-looking piece of furniture in a small living room with real wood floors, and they instantly looked — and sounded — completely at home.

First, I used the optical input to connect these speakers to a slightly older TV. Dialogue immediately became easier to understand, and balanced more easily with sound effects. When I got together with others to watch the 2017 psychological thriller Get Out, the speakers added richness and depth to the ominous score — I could really feel the tension building throughout.

I loved that any of my guests could connect their phone via Bluetooth and share music. I was also able to use the built-in phono preamp to quickly connect my turntable when I wanted to listen to vinyl. The M24s didn't miss a beat.

Peachtree has always been amazing at wedding form and function, and these speakers follow that established pattern. They're compact, good-looking speakers with plenty of connection options. If you need serious bang for your buck, these should top your list.

Don't forget the bass

It almost seems decadent to mention this one last thing: There's a standard subwoofer output on the back of the right hand speaker, so you can add a sub and bump up the bass any time you like.

Product Research

Features

Powered Stereo Speakers: The Peachtree Audio M24 consists of one powered loudspeaker ("Right") and one passive loudspeaker ("Left"). The "Right" speaker features a 6' detachable AC power cord that will need to be plugged into an AC outlet or surge protector (sold separately). The "Right" speaker connects to the left speaker via the included 10" length of speaker wire (which can be swapped out for a longer or shorter length). All source inputs, as well as the sub out are found on the back of the "Right" speaker. All controls are also located on the "Right" speaker.

Two-Way Driver Design: Each speaker features a 1" soft-dome tweeter & 4" fiberglass woofer housed in a real-wood, bass-reflex cabinet with a rear-firing port and acoustically transparent grille. A built-in 50 watt x 2 channel Class D amplifier in the "Right" speaker provides power to both speakers. The result is high-quality sound performance.

24-Bit/96kHz DAC: The Peachtree Audio M24 utilizes a 24-bit/96kHz DAC (digital-to-analog converter) for playback of standard and high resolution audio soundtracks.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: Built-in Bluetooth lets you wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, podcasts, and other audio content on your Bluetooth enabled source device (such as your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer) to the M24 powered speakers. From the included remote control you can operate basic playback functions, such as Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track. You can pair multiple devices with the speaker, but only one device can be connected at a time for playback.

Note: The M24 does not support Bluetooth hands-free communication for making and answering phone calls.

USB-B Input: A USB-B input lets you connect the Peachtree Audio M24 speakers to your Windows PC or Mac computer for playback of 2ch PCM music files with a bit-rate of 16- or 24-bit and sampling frequency of 44.1-96kHz.

Optical Digital Input: The M24 is equipped with one optical (toslink) digital input for connecting an external digital audio source such as your Blu-ray, CD player, cable/satellite box, or Apple TV. The optical digital input supports 2ch PCM audio with a bit-rate of 16- or 24-bit and sampling frequency of 44.1-96kHz (not compatible with Dolby Digital or DTS).

Analog/Phono Output: The Peachtree Audio M24 is outfitted with a single stereo RCA analog input which can be used for line-level or Phono (MM). There is a switch on the rear of the speaker that lets you choose between a line-level or Phono (MM) audio signal.

Sub Out: A mono-RCA sub output gives to the ability to add an external powered subwoofer for bigger bass response.

USB Charging Port: There is a rear-panel USB-A (5V/1A) charging port that helps you keep your smartphone charged.

Simple Controls: A 3-way rotary knob on the front-panel of the "Right" speaker allows you to adjust the volume and select between source inputs. The main power switch is located on the rear of the speaker. The included IR remote provides wireless operation of the M24 powered speakers. Remote functions include - Power, Source (Aux/Opt/USB/Bluetooth), Volume/Mute, Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, as well as Bass, Treble, and Flat.

Binding Post Terminals: On the back of each speaker is a set of gold-plated binding-post terminals which tether the two speakers together. These binding-post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana-plugs (single or dual). A 10 length of speaker wire with bare-tinned wire on each end is included.

Mounting Options: The M24 powered speakers can be placed on top of a desk, table, shelf, or stands. Eight self-adhesive rubber feet (four for each speaker) are included which provide a non-slip surface. The rubber feet add approximately 0.125" to the overall height of the speakers. There are no threaded-inserts, keyhole-slots, integrated brackets to wall-mount the speakers.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The included detachable AC power cord plugs into the back of the "Right" speaker and an AC power outlet or surge protector (sold separately).

Auto Standby: The M24 powered speakers will automatically go into Standby mode when there has been no audio signal for approximately 30 minutes.
