Product Research

Features

Tabletop Radio: The Bose Wave radio IV provides rich, room-filling sound from a compact tabletop radio that fits just about anywhere in your home.

Waveguide Speaker Technology: Bose proprietary waveguide speaker technology combines with advanced digital electronics to deliver performance well beyond the speakers' size. Two 26" folded waveguides are precisely tuned to amplify the output from the transducers (speakers) to reproduce lifelike sound from the small enclosure.

Advanced AM/FM Tuner: The Bose Wave radio IV comes with a built-in FM/AM tuner. The advanced AM/FM tuner delivers more precise radio reception and

  • RDS: When you select FM radio, RDS information for the current station is displayed like artist name and song titles (when available).
  • Presets: You can store up to 6 FM and 6 AM radio stations for quick recall.
  • Talk Radio Mode: Talk radio broadcasts can be greatly affected by either the microphone selection or the boosting of low frequencies by some radio stations. They do so in an attempt to improve speech when heard through conventional radios. In high-quality audio products, this results in sound that is unnatural or bass heavy. By selecting the "Talk Radio" mode, your Wave radio IV automatically adjusts to compensate for artificially boosted low frequencies.
Note: The Wave radio IV power cord is used as an antenna for FM radio. If, after adjusting the position of the power cord, you still experience poor reception, you may need to install an external antenna. An external FM dipole antenna with a 3.5mm connector can be ordered through Bose Customer Service.

Optional Bluetooth Adapter: The optional Bose Wave Bluetooth Music Adapter (018WVBTMA, sold separately) lets you wirelessly connect your Bluetooth-enabled iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows Phone/PC, Mac computer/laptop, and other Bluetooth-compatible devices to the Bose Wave radio IV. The Bose Wave Bluetooth Music Adapter connects to the Bose Wave radio IV's 9-pin "Bose-Link" port via its attached 18" proprietary cable. The Bose Wave Bluetooth Music Adapter then communicates to your Bluetooth-enabled devices wirelessly over 2.4GHz Bluetooth (up to 30').

  • Music Streaming (A2DP/AVRCP): The Bose Wave Bluetooth Music Adapter lets you stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop, and more to your Bose Wave radio. You can control basic music playback functions (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from your Bose Wave radio's remote control. Song/artist information and album art will still be done from your Bluetooth-enabled device.
  • Multi-Device Pairing: You can pair up to 6 devices with the Bose Wave Bluetooth Music Adapter. However, only one can be used for playback at a time.
Note: This Bluetooth adapter does not support hands-free phone communication; only audio streaming (SBC codec).

Aux Input: There is a rear-panel 3.5mm Aux input for connecting an external analog audio source, like your smartphone or tablet.

Headphone Jack: The Wave radio IV comes with a rear-panel 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening. Plugging in a set of headphones will mute the Wave radio IV's speakers. If an alarm  or timer sounds while using headphones, it will sound through the Wave radio IV speakers.

Touch Pad & Remote Control: The Wave radio IV has a touch-sensitive switch under the top, front, center area of the enclosure. Momentarily placing your hand on the touch pad can turn the Wave radio IV on or off. You can operate volume, station selection, and even some accessory functions with the convenient IR wireless remote control. The remote normally works within 20' of the display.

Front-Panel Display w/ Auto Brightness: The Bose Wave radio IV features a front-panel display which will indicate the set time, station identification, and RDS-text information (when available). The brightness level of the display automatically adjusts itself for low and high ambient light conditions. This feature brightens the display for better visibility in high ambient light conditions and dims the display making it
less intrusive in low ambient light conditions. High and low brightness settings can be set independently.

Alarm Clock: The Bose Wave radio IV offers a 12- or 24-hr alarm clock with Dual Alarms, Snooze, and Sleep Timer.

  • Dual Alarms: Two different wakeup times may be set, customized for each person's preferences (radio station or beep, volume, etc.). This is handy if two people wake at different times.
  • Snooze: Simply tap the unit's top-panel touch pad to activate the Snooze function. The snooze time can be set to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 minutes.
  • Sleep Timer: The Sleep Timer can be set to shut the unit off automatically after a selected period of time (10-90 minutes in 10 minute increments).

Placement: Place the Bose Wave radio IV on a table or other flat surface. To enjoy maximum audio performance, place the Wave radio IV across the room from where you will be listening. For best audio performance, place the Wave  radio IV within 2' of a wall, and avoid placing directly in a corner.

AC Power w/ Auto Standby: The Bose Wave radio IV operates off standard household current (120V~50/60Hz, 60W) using its integrated power supply and 8' detachable AC power cord. After 24 hours of no button presses the system automatically switches to standby (off). If the 30 minute system standby timer is enabled, the system automatically switches to standby if no audio is played and no buttons are pressed for 30 minutes.

Note: If the Wave radio IV loses power due to a power outage or unplugging the unit to move it, all system settings will be permanently retained. However, the clock time will only be temporarily stored in backup memory for up to 48 hours.

Well, that's a good question. I personally have not tried to connect my IPhone to the radio. But I looked it up,and this is what I found: Pairing a Bluetooth®-enabled device If your SoundDock 10 system has never been paired with a Bluetooth® device, insert the system's 2-prong plug into a live AC outlet and wait until the Bluetooth® light starts flashing. That indicates the Bluetooth® dock is in discoverable mode and ready to pair with a device. Note: The dock stays in discoverable mode (up to 30 minutes with first-time use) until you connect your stereo Bluetooth® music phone to it Follow these steps to pair with a Bluetooth® enabled device: Bring your Bluetooth® music device (phone, MP3 player) close to the SoundDock 10 system Turn on the Bluetooth® feature in your music device. For details on using this feature, refer to the owner's guide for your device In the list of found Bluetooth® devices, find "Bose SoundDock 10" and select it If prompted, enter the Bose® SoundDock 10 system passkey: 0000 When your music device confirms it is connected, the Bluetooth® light will stop flashing and remain on Note: You can use the SoundDock 10 system remote to control the connected Bluetooth® music device. If your stereo Bluetooth® music device loses its connection because it is out of range, the dock will automatically try to reconnect with the device (the Bluetooth® light will flash during reconnection). If the SoundDock 10 system cannot restore a connection within five minutes, it will turn off. To disconnect your device: On the SoundDock 10 system remote press Off Use the disconnect command in your Bluetooth® device To reconnect your device: When your system is off, press any button on the remote except Off or AUX to turn on the system The SoundDock 10 system will automatically try to connect with the most recently connected Bluetooth® device I hope this helps you.

Robert - Yes, I own the Bose III, but I assume (?) that the IV also has a constant digital time displayed when your device is turned off . Time adjustments are easily made on your remote. Good luck - James

Q
Can I add wireless speakers ?
steve  Dec 31, 2016
1 answer
A
The Wave Radio IV does not offer any networking or wireless speaker/multi-room distribution capabilities. For that, you would need to step into Bose's "SoundTouch" line of products: http://www.crutchfield.com/Brands/BoseSoundTouch.aspx I hope that helps! None required works great
ken  May 17, 2016

An internal antenna is provided and does a pretty descent job
dan  May 17, 2016

My Bose is sensitive to orientation, have to turn it to get best signal, the cord is supposed to be an antenna. If it came with an FM antenna, I must have discarded it with the packaging. I'm going to get one, but haven't yet. They are inexpensive. JC
joseph m.  May 17, 2016

We found that adding a "folded dipole" antenna was helpful to get better reception. I think the radio used a antenna in the power cord which was not adequate. We are some 50 miles from desired stations in Springfield, MO
gerard w  May 17, 2016
A
An internal antenna is provided however the reception is not good. I bought the Terk Tower FM/FM antenna to improve radio signal and it's excellent!!!

Can you match up the smaller wave single disc player to the multi cd unit like you can? with the bigger wave music system II
scott  Dec 21, 2015

I cannot find a way for them to work because the Bose changer used a Bose proprietary cable to connect. However, you can connect select CD changers to the aux audio input that is on this radio. Feel free to call us on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on a changer.

Q
could you use the radio without the remote control?
robert  Nov 11, 2015

A
You can control volume to a certain extent from the device you are playing the music from. Unless your using radio then no. The only controls on the device itself is On and Off
barry  Nov 13, 2015
A
The only function you can use without the remote is by tapping on top of the numbers to start or turn-off the radio. Otherwise there are no knobs or fixtures allowing you to do so. I was a bit flummoxed by this at first, but in a short time I came to really like the remote for it's all-in-one control
