Stop floods before they start

The Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor can help you detect a water leak before it becomes a flood and causes real damage. It's a wireless device that you can put near a water heater, under a kitchen sink, or in the attic — anywhere you might find unwanted moisture. It also monitors temperature, and alerts you to sudden changes.

It communicates wirelessly with the SmartThings hub, the brain of your customizable SmartThings home automation system. You can add as many compatible devices and sensors as you want, and control them all using the SmartThings Mobile app (Apple®/Android™/Windows®).

App control and notifications

Download the free SmartThings app to start setting up remote monitoring and notifications. The moment there's water where there shouldn't be, you'll immediately receive an alert on your phone so that you (or a helpful neighbor) can take action to prevent damage. You'll find new peace of mind when you're at work, taking a long weekend, or on an overseas vacation.

Features

Overview: The SmartThings Water Leak Sensor (IM6001-WLP01) is a wireless device that is placed on the floor of your bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room to immediately alert you when a water leak is detected. The sensor can also monitor temperature, and can automatically turn on a portable heater if the temperature drops (SmartThings Outlet required). The Water Leak Sensor is powered by a CR-2 battery (installed). The sensor's dimensions are 2.379" x 1.474" x 0.84", and it weighs 1.7 ounces.

Note: The SmartThings Water Leak Sensor requires the SmartThings Hub.

Water Leak Sensor: The SmartThings Water Leak Sensor is equipped with two metal contacts on the top and two on the bottom to provide dual-sided monitoring. This allows the sensor to detect a drip from above or spreading pool of water from below. When water touches either set of contacts, the sensor triggers an alert to your smartphone or tablet through the SmartThings app. The app allows you to choose the response to sensor activation, from a notification on your phone to turning on a (wirelessly) connected light bulb.

SmartThings Monitoring System: The SmartThings Home Monitoring system contains several sensors and a central monitoring hub to help you make sure your home is safe. Available SmartThings sensors include this Water Leak Sensor, a Multipurpose Sensor, Motion Sensor, and a Smart Outlet. Numerous devices (locks, thermostats, wireless music systems, cameras, light bulbs, etc.) from Samsung and other manufacturers can be controlled through the SmartThings system. The SmartThings monitoring system is controlled via Wi-Fi and the SmartThings app for your smartphone or tablet. SmartThings devices can also be controlled with voice commands using Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant. No contracts or monthly fees are required to monitor your home with the SmartThings system.

SmartThings App: The SmartThings app for your smartphone or tablet lets you easily control, monitor, and secure your home from virtually anywhere in the world. The app is available from Apple iTunes for iOS devices running version 11.0 or later, and from Google Play for Android devices (6.0 or later).
