Electro-Voice ELX 112P
Live X Series 12" powered loudspeaker — 1,000W peak
Our take on the Electro-Voice ELX 112P by Crutchfield's Bob Bihlmayer
Decades of innovation
If you're a musician, you know about EV. If you're not, just know that Electro-Voice has been at the forefront of live sound innovation for over 70 years. Now they've distilled those decades of experience into their Live X series of portable PA speakers.
The 12" woofer and 1-1/2" titanium compression driver are powered by a 1000-watt Class D amp.
Plenty of power
Electro-Voice designed the ELX 112P powered speaker to give you plenty of clean power, with a built-in Class D amplifier that delivers 1000 watts to a 12" woofer and a 1.5" titanium high-frequency driver. A built-in pole mount lets you mount the speaker on a stand or above a subwoofer, and you can use the speaker's switchable high-pass filter to optimize the speaker for use with a sub.
The ins and outs
The two input channels are equipped with combination 1/4" TRS and XLR inputs; one channel also has a set of stereo RCA inputs. An XLR line output provides signal for other ELX 112Ps or for a powered subwoofer.
The speakers and amplifier are housed in a seriously sturdy 9-ply wooden cabinet, and the enclosure's shape allows you to use it as a stage monitor as well as a PA speaker. If you're looking for a versatile, powerful speaker with a great heritage, the Electro-Voice ELX 112P is ready to go to work for you.
