A great alternative to a long HDMI cable

Looking for a good way to send HD video across a long distance? Ethereal makes it easy with this HDMI-to-CAT-6 balun bundle. It includes a transmitter and a receiver, which together send a 1080p video signal up to 50 meters (about 164 feet) away over CAT-6 Ethernet cable. These units are ideal for connecting an A/V receiver to an overhead projector or wall-mounted TV, without the need for an ultra-long HDMI cable.

How the system works

The transmitter balun connects to your home theater receiver, Blu-ray player, or other HD video source via a short HDMI cable. It then sends the incoming signal through a CAT-6 cable to the receiver balun, which is located near your TV or projector. A short HDMI cable is used to connect the receiver balun to your display.

Power-over-Ethernet

These units support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The receiver draws power from the transmitter via Ethernet cable, so no local power supply is required at the display location.

What is a balun?

A balun gets its name by converting signals between balanced and unbalanced lines. Balanced cables carry signals over much longer distances than unbalanced lines, and also provide superior noise rejection.

These baluns convert HDMI to balanced CAT-6 connections. The result is clear, crisp signal transmission that offers flexible placement options for your equipment.

Features

HDMI PoE Extender: This HDMI PoE extender (CS-HDC5EXTSRPOE) includes a transmitter unit (TX) and a receiver unit (RX), working as a pair. It allows for transmission and extension of uncompressed full-HD 1080p@60Hz HDMI signal via CAT6/6A/7 network cable. The transmission distance can be up to 164' (50 meters) with zero latency.

HDMI 1.4a: The HDMI PoE extender (CS-HDC5EXTSRPOE) is equipped with HDMI 1.4a jacks that are HDCP 1.2a compatible. There is HDMI 1.4a input and output on the transmitter, as well as a HDMI 1.4a output on the receiver. These HDMI 1.4a jacks support 480i@60Hz, 480p@60Hz, 576i@50Hz, 576p@50Hz, 720p@50/60Hz, 1080i@50/60Hz, and 3D 1080p@50/60Hz.

EDID Switch: The HDMI PoE extender includes an EDID switch (3 dip-switches) on the transmitter for helping to set a needed HDMI signal format. See the User Manual for EDID switch instructions.

PoE (Power-Over-Ethernet): The CS-HDC5EXTSRPOE supports PoE to power the receiver, so you only need to connect the included power supply to the transmitter. Each unit will power up, as the receiver unit is powered by the transmitter unit through the connected network cable.

IR Pass-Back: This HDMI extender supports IR pass-back for remote control source devices. It comes with an IR blaster and IR receiver. It supports 20-60kHz wide frequency IR remote controls.
