About the Behringer B115W

Bob Bihlmayer

Features, convenience, and value

When Behringer decided to build a powered PA speaker, they knew that their emphasis on features, convenience, and value would differentiate their speakers from the competition. The B115W powered speaker drives its 15" woofer and 1" tweeter with 1,000 watts for powerful performance from a 38-pound package, and it also offers some very useful features you don't usually see at this price.

Built-in Bluetooth

Most people carry their music in their phone or other portable device, so Behringer equipped the B115W with Bluetooth connectivity. You can stream audio directly from your phone, tablet, or laptop right to this speaker.

Making connections

Behringer B115W

The mixer controls are in a simple, easy to use arrangement.

No more hauling around a CD player or thumb drive — you can stream music to the B112W wirelessly from your phone or other compatible device. If you use Behringer's UltraLink ULM wireless microphone system (sold separately), just plug the ULM's dongle into this powered speaker, and you're ready to rock. The built-in mixer and 2-band EQ mean you can plug a mic and an instrument directly into the speaker, eliminating the hassle of a small mixer and cables. The speaker's Link Output lets you connect other powered speakers, while the Stereo Mode button allows two B115Ws to play in true stereo.

Versatility

The B115W's trapezoidal shape allows it to assume a variety of functions, whether it's used on a speaker stand, mounted with a pole on a powered subwoofer, or placed on its side as a stage monitor. And Behringer protects this speaker with its 3-year warranty. It's a versatile, convenient option for a powered speaker.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Behringer Eurolive B115W active loudspeaker delivers high powered sound reinforcement for live and playback applications. The speaker is equipped with two individually-amplified drivers in a bass-reflex enclosure. The molded cabinet is trapezoidal in shape, allowing you to stand it upright on the floor, pole-mount it, or tilt it on its side as a floor monitor. An integrated handle is molded into the top of the speaker for easy carrying and setup.

Amplifier and Drivers: The built-in Class D amplifier delivers 1000 total watts to this 2-way speaker: 700 watts to the 15" long-excursion low frequency driver and 300 watts to the 1.35" aluminum diaphragm compression high frequency driver. The HF driver is loaded into an ultra-wide dispersion, large-format exponential horn for exceptionally wide coverage. The LF driver is protected by a steel grille.

Equalizer: The B115W has a built-in equalizer with two controls on the back panel: High +/-15dB at 12kHz and Low +/-15dB at 80Hz. A red LED will flash to indicate when the amplifier is clipping.

Mic/Line Inputs: The B115W features two mic/line inputs with female XLR-1/4" combo connectors and a rotary level knobs. The built-in mic preamps are the same ultra-low noise/high-headroom preamps found in Behringer mixers. Individual LEDs on each channel show if the inputs are clipping.

Bluetooth Compatibility: With built-in Bluetooth 3.0, you can pair your phone or tablet to the speaker for wirelessly streaming music. The speaker has a separate volume control for the Bluetooth source. A second Eurolive B-series speaker can be stereo-linked via Bluetooth with the B115W to form a stereo pair.

Wireless Port: A Type A USB port is provided for connecting a Behringer ULM Digital Wireless Microphone System, such as the ULM300USB. Just plug in the ULM receiver dongle and power on the microphone's transmitter, and you instantly have a high-quality wireless system. Each ULM microphone has its own volume control for setting the balance.

Line Output: The B115W has a male XLR connector for connecting the mixer output to additional active speaker systems.

Warranty Terms: Behringer offers a 3-year warranty when you register your product within 90 calendar days of purchase. If the product is not properly registered, the warranty period is one year.

Q
Does this power speaker have any latency? Is it appropriate for amplifying live music?
e.e.m.  Feb 27, 2018

A
I have only used them to play recorded music via Bluetooth. It works great. I have two pair together with the built in Bluetooth. Very satisfied.
jon  Mar 02, 2018
A
I use 2 of these for our monthly Karaoke Show at our clubhouse. I don't know if Karaoke music is considered live, since it is digitally produced, however, latency is not an issue with these Speakers.
donald  Feb 27, 2018
A
Not sure what you mean about the latency thing but it is fine for live music...solo artists, duos that sort of thing but you'll need more than this if you're talking about a band. Cheers!

Q
How does one select a microphone(s) for this unit? (The application is live amplification of acoustic instruments.)
e.e.m.  Feb 27, 2018

A
Any microphone that doesn't require phantom power can be connected directly to the XLR inputs on this speaker (basically any dynamic microphone). The Behringer ULM300USB wireless microphone is compatible using the USB port: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_937ULM300U/Behringer-ULM300USB.html

Q
Why does only 1 of my speakers work when i plug it into my computer?

A
What I do to run both speakers simultaneously is use a Y Cable 1/8" 3.5mm Stereo Male to Dual XLR Male balanced audio cable. That seemed to work just fine.
kalen  Oct 30, 2017
A
I don't plug them to a computer. I use bluetooth with spotify. Once one speaker is in sync with the music source, the second speaker has to be sync.

Can I connect my laptop directly to this speaker?

A
Yes you can, you will need to get a cable. It's an 1/8" stereo to left and right 1/4" plugs. You will use the headphone output of the laptop to left and right inputs on the speaker. Enjoy, these puppies are loud!
duncan  Apr 01, 2017
A
Yes you just need the plug. Plug it in input one g2g.
ian  Apr 01, 2017

If your laptop has bluetooth, yes.....if you mean wired directly to the the speaker I don't think so because there are imputs for mixing and a usb. These speakers truly ROCK!!!! I have 2 and used them at a barbecue last summer in Newport R.I. well worth the $$$
