Phone it in

Thanks to the receiver's Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® compatibility (wired or wireless), just about anything you can do on your phone, you can do on the optically bonded 8" capacitive touchscreen. Play some music, get directions, find out where the next gas station is, or call home. With built-in Bluetooth connectivity, you can do it all with your hands on the handlebars and your eyes on the road ahead.

The center of your system

This receiver's built-in 4-channel amplifier and 15-band equalizer make even the stock speakers in your Harley sound better. With this receiver, you can also control your factory system's amps and adjust the balance and fade settings. It also works with H-D's Boom! Stage 1 and Stage 2 systems.

If you're ready to take the next step in building your audio system, you'll appreciate the 4-volt RCA outputs when you add amps or a subwoofer.

Built for life on the road

Motorcycle receivers can lead a rough life, but the V2 is designed to handle both the road and the elements. Conformal-coated circuitry, UV protection, and IPx5-rated water resistance ensure that this rugged receiver will give you miles and miles of outstanding performance.

Engage Rally Mode

If you frequently travel in a group, Rally Mode Music Sharing lets you broadcast your playlists to other riders who have Rally Mode-equipped head units and accessories. An unlimited number of users can pair with the principal broadcaster's stream, so the more, the merrier.

The HDHU.V2 also utilizes the factory OEM radio antenna connector and USB media port by simply connecting the factory antenna cable and USB cable to the corresponding proprietary sockets on the back of the receiver. Compatible Harley Davidson Motorcycles include -

IPX5-Rated: Exceeding expectations, HDHU.V2 was subjected to testing above and beyond industry standards, proving its suitability in harsh riding conditions for long-term use. As a result, HDHU.V2 earned an Ingress Protection (IP) water-resistant rating of IPX5, protecting itself from practically any weather condition you'll ride in, even after a quick trip to the bike wash. Apple & Android Integration

Wireless Apple CarPlay: Apple CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your Apple iPhone in your vehicle. Your iPhone can be connected to the HDHU.V2 wirelessly via WiFi + Bluetooth, or hardwired via USB. An iPhone 6S or newer (running iOS 9.0+) is required for a wireless connection, while an iPhone 6S or newer (running iOS 7.1+) is required for a hardwired connection. CarPlay takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them right on the display of the in-dash receiver. You can use the head unit's touchscreen or your voice and Siri to get directions, make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to music - all in a way that allows you to stay focused on the road.

  • Maps: Through Apple CarPlay, the power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars. If you have iOS 12.0 or newer on your iPhone with the latest version of Google Maps or Waze, you can choose to navigate via Google Maps or Waze instead of CarPlay. Google Maps and Waze do not support Siri voice control, but will have their own proprietary voice control function which has to be accessed through a touchscreen icon on the receiver.
  • Phone: With Apple CarPlay, you can use the HDHU.V2's interactive touchscreen or ask Siri to make calls, return calls, and check voicemail. To dial a phone number, simply tap the "Phone" icon and Siri will ask you who you want to call. Using the touchscreen you can manually enter a phone number from the on-screen keypad, scroll through contacts, or select from recent and miss calls. In addition, you get access to your voicemails via touchscreen and Siri. When a call comes in, simply tap the "Phone" icon to answer. You'll carry on your side of the conversation through the included external microphone, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's speakers.
  • Text Messages: Apple CarPlay also lets you enjoy a better and safer way of text messaging with friends and family when you're on the road, through the receiver and Siri. Through your voice commands, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages so that you never have to glance at your phone while behind the wheel. When a new message comes in a banner will come across the screen and Siri will read back the message for you. Text messages cannot be read or typed from the head unit's touchscreen to prevent driver distraction.
  • Music Library: CarPlay lets you access your music in your iPhone's music library, plus iTunes radio from the HDHU.V2. You can browse your music by Playlist, Artist, Song, etc.. just like you would on your iPhone from the HDHU.V2's touchscreen. You can also use Siri to find and play back your music. The HDHU.V2's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background. Tap the Now Playing icon on the receiver's capacitive touchscreen and see song, artist, album information with Album Art displaying in the background. From the Now Playing screen you also get basic playback function, like Play/Pause, Previous Next/Track, Fast Forward/Rewind, and Repeat/Shuffle.
  • Audio Apps & Podcasts: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, podcasts, sports, news, and audiobooks - including Pandora, Tidal, Spotify, iHeart Radio, TuneIn Radio, Slacker Radio, Vox, Stitcher, MLB.com At Bat, CBS Radio News, NPR One, OverCast, Audiobooks.com & Audible (subscriptions and fees may app). Control them from the head unit's touchscreen or Siri just like you would from your iPhone. Your iPhone's touchscreen remains unlocked during CarPlay connection, so you are able to access additional music apps and listen to them through the receiver; however these apps offer no control or display information from the head unit's touchscreen.
  • Apple HomeKit Compatible: CarPlay now supports control of Apple HomeKit enabled devices (sold separately) through Siri. Using CarPlay in your vehicle, you can ask Siri to close or open your garage door, turn on or off home lighting, increase or decrease the temperature of your thermostat, as well as control select functions of other Apple HomeKit enabled devices and appliances. Click here for a list of compatible Apple HomeKit products.

Notes:

  • If you choose to use a wired connection, make sure to use the USB port labeled "CarPlay/Android Auto" and an Apple Certified cable that is under 6' long.
  • When CarPlay is in use, the unit's Bluetooth will turn off automatically and hands-free phone functionality will operate through CarPlay. Any other devices connected via Bluetooth will be disconnected during CarPlay use.
  • You can only connect one Apple CarPlay or one Android Auto device at a time (cannot connect both).

Wireless Android Auto: The HDHU.V2 digital multimedia receiver supports Android Auto with select Android smartphones using a wireless or wired connection. A Google or Samsung smartphone with Android OS 10.0+ or any smartphone with Android OS 11.0+ and 5GHz WiFi can utilize Android Auto Wireless with the HDHU.V2 receiver using the latest version of the Android Auto app, plus a WiFi and Bluetooth connection. Android smartphones running Oreo 8.0 or newer can also be hardwired to the HDHU.V2 receiver via USB and Bluetooth. Android Auto brings the most useful apps of your Android smartphone to the in-dash receiver, making it easier for you to keep your main focus on driving. You can control things like navigation maps, phone calls, text messages, music, and more using the head unit's touchscreen or your voice and Google Assistant. With large touchscreen icons, a simplified user interface, and the Google Assistant, it's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road. • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
  • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the HDHU.V2 receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. You also get access to online music and radio stations from Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Slacker Radio, & Tune-In. • Any other devices connected via Bluetooth will be disconnected during Android Auto use.

  • Hands-Free Communication with Wireless Headset Integration: Thanks to support of Bluetooth's hands-free communication protocol, you'll be able to dial and receive calls from the HDHU.V2 head unit. You can make calls from the head unit's touchscreen by entering the phone number directly on the receiver' on-screen numeric keypad, selecting from a list of displayed call logs (dialed/received/missed), or using your phone's transferred phonebook. The unit will display caller & contact info. You'll use the included external mic to speak into and the other party will be heard through the front speakers. Wireless headset integration for both OEM and aftermarket headsets and headphones (sold separately) lets you pair up to two headsets or headphones for both the rider and passenger. You have the option to select whether you want to hear only GPS navigation commands, only music, or both simultaneously.

In addition, you'll have playback control (Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the receiver, as well as song/artist/album information display (no album art) on the HDHU.V2. Advanced music browsing and album art will still need to be handled from your Bluetooth source device. When there is an incoming phone call, wireless audio streaming will be paused until you end the call and then wireless audio streaming will resume. The addition of Rally Mode Music Sharing allows you to broadcast your music playlists to group riders via Bluetooth.
