Make your vintage vehicle more modern

Let's set the scene. It's a gorgeous day, and you want to cruise around in your vintage ride. What would hold you back? Your vintage ride may still have a vintage radio that's showing its age. That's where the RetroSound Laguna comes in. This ingenious radio fits a wide variety of classic cars and trucks, thanks to RetroSound's patented "InfiniMount" adjustable shaft/bracket system. You can even install the Laguna chassis remotely with an optional RetroSound extension cable for customizing versatility. Now you can cruise in style and enjoy your music in a whole new way.

Simplicity is key

The Laguna looks like an old-fashioned radio, but the vintage push-button styling conceals a thoroughly modern receiver that's made to entertain you. You can enjoy all your favorite AM/FM stations, plus you can plug your smartphone, Dock-and-Play satellite radio, portable music player, or just about any source with a headphone jack into the auxiliary input on the rear of the receiver. The solid built-in amplifier delivers 18 watts RMS per channel, plenty of power for most situations.

More power to you

Want to add some serious power to your RetroSound receiver? The Quad4 amplifier delivers 45 watts RMS by four channels to your speakers without taking up a lot of space. The super-compact amp plugs into your radio's harness and, in most cases, can be powered from your fusebox, so you'll save a lot of time and effort on the installation. RetroSound also makes low-profile car speakers that fit into a wide range of older cars and trucks, so you can be sure that your sound system will do justice to your vintage vehicle.

Adapt the Laguna to a DIN opening

If your classic car has already been altered to accept a DIN (2" tall) radio, we offer a repair kit to convert your dash opening back to its original splendor!

This radio does not play CDs.

    Shaft-Style Radio

Infinimount Shaft/Bracket System: The Infinimount Shaft/Bracket System allows you to mount the Laguna radio in a variety of classic cars. This is because the shaft-knobs are not mounted to the unit, but instead connect to the unit via a harness so you can space the radio's shaft knobs at various distances (0.3125"-2.1875") from the chassis of the radio, using the supplied side-mount brackets. You can move these brackets forward or backward and move them in any direction. You can even cut, trim, or bend the brackets if needed. This shaft-style radio is a true problem solver for tough to fit applications due to its unique bracket system combined with small mounting size.

Faceplates & Knobs (sold separately): There are multiple vehicle specific faceplates & knobs available for the Laguna. In addition there are universal faceplates which allow you to use the integrated break away tabs to modify all aspects of height & width of the plate, and even drill in your own shaft holes to fit virtually any car.

Note: The RetroSound Laguna does not come with a faceplate or knobs. A universal mounting plate or vehicle specific faceplate and knob set will be needed for installation.

LCD Display: The RetroSound Laguna features an LCD with a digital read-out. The unit's LCD offers an ultra-wide, off-axis viewing angle and is daylight compatible. The LCD will display clock, tuner, and song/artist information. The color illumination of the LCD can be switched to either white or green.

    Built-in Tuner & Aux Input

AM/FM Tuner: The Laguna features a built-in RDS AM/FM tuner. The unit's tuner features 3 FM bands and 2 AM bands. A total of 30 AM/FM presets can be stored manually or automatically. Select between Local and Distant settings can aid in listening to weak FM radio stations or compensate for stations that have too strong of a signal. This unit's tuner can be set to USA or European tuning.

Aux Input: The universal shaft-style receiver features a 3.5mm auxiliary input connected to the rear chassis by 7" pigtails. The Aux input provides a connection for portable external audio sources such as a MP3 player or  CD player.

    Audio Section

    18W x 4Ch Amplifier: The Laguna is equipped with a 18 watts x 4-channel RMS/45 watts x 4-channel Peak amplifier.

Preset EQ + Bass & Treble: The Laguna features the following preset EQ curves (Classic, Pop, Rock, or Off) to customize your music listening. The Off mode activates manual Bass & Treble adjustment.

Balance & Fader Control: The Balance adjustment function allows you to adjust or pan the stereo sound from the left or right; this is helpful to compensate for the position of the driver in relation to the speaker locations. Adjustment range is 0 to 12. The Fader Control allows you to fade the sound from the front pair of speaker to your rear pair of speakers. Adjustment range is 0 to 12.

Turn-On Volume: You can set the Laguna to power-on to the same volume level (0-46) every time, or let it default to the last volume when turned off.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every knob turn or button press will output a beep tone.

1980 MGB. Easy fit into factory dash opening? Wiring for power and speakers-easy to connect ?

It fit into the dash okay, but I wouldn't buy it again. The sound is very cheap!

Yes. Was very easy and the options and directions were spot on. Was expecting trouble but had absolutely none.

What is needed to connect to the auxiliary input? What type product can you plug into the auxiliary? Thanks In Advance.
    david  Mar 26, 2020
    2 answers
    A
I use it to plug an auxiliary cable in so I can use my phone to play music.
    brian  Mar 26, 2020
    A
It has a 1/4" audio jack input (so you can plug that into an android phone or an iPhone using with the 1/4" to "apple input" adaptor. Only catch is this is in the back of the stereo, so you have to route a cable through the console and out to an accessible location (most aux input jacks are located on the front of stereos)

    Q
I only have front speaker will this work with the radio ?
    roger  Nov 27, 2019
    2 answers
    A
This radio has separate leads for the front speakers and also for the back speakers. I hooked up the back speakers only at first and it worked fine. I did add the front speakers later after I received them to get a better surround sound.
    glen  Nov 27, 2019
    A
If you have front speakers (2) right and left with 1 + and 1 - wire you will have true stereo . If you only have a single speaker (mono, non stereo) you may have an issue , if the mono speaker has 2 wires 1+ &1- you will only have 1 channel . It will sound funny as modern music is recorded in stereo . Hope this helps

I have a 66 Lincoln convertible. Does this radio have the same connections as the current AM Radio already in the car, for an easy replacement? Or do I have to go retro fit it in...I would presume it fits perfectly in the dash as it says it does. Thanks.

Hi, it fit good. It isn't plug and play. You will have to tag your wires so you can attach them to the new unit.

the radio opening is pretty standard, and the knobs are adjustable, which make it a pretty simple install. I do suggest using a support bracket for the rear of the radio for vibration support.

The Dimensions of the radio face is 3 1/2" X 1 /2". The knob shafts can adjust to almost any length. This radio should fit your installation with little or no trimming. I've got this radio in my 1966 Chevy pickup. It woks GREAT !!!!!

The knobs I received (for a 1966 Chevy C10 truck) were metal. BUT, Retrosound offers different style knobs based on your application needs. My suggestion is to contact Retrosound for further information.
    stephen  Sep 26, 2017
    A
I haven't installed but went and looked. They are plastic but seen to be a more "solid" plastic. Hope that helps.
    shawn  Sep 25, 2017
    A
You can order whatever knobs you want at Retrosound. Buy the piece from Crutchfielf, ask them if they have a selection of knobs you can choose from, and if not, buy the knobs directly from the manufacturer. From my knowledge, the knobs I bought are metal, but some maybe plastic, but I do not know for certain.
    raymand  Sep 24, 2017
    A
The knobs I received are plastic, look good like original. I believe there is a choice of knobs to match your application when you order
