Bluetooth built in
Bluetooth connectivity, designed for Kenwood by industry leader Parrot, is built into the receiver. You'll enjoy safe, hands-free calling with your compatible phone, with features like automatic muting of the music for incoming calls, downloaded phone books, and speed dialing of selected phone numbers.

iPod control at your fingertips
The KIV-BT900's volume knob operates like an iPod click wheel interface, with high-speed search keys positioned just to the right. You can jump straight into alphabet and percentage searches with the Search Mode key, while a favorites memory lets you pull up the tunes you really like without delay. The KIV-700 is compatible with your Zune player, too, offering charging and control when you plug in to the receiver's USB input.

You're not limited to iPod content — you can play music or check out pictures by connecting a thumb drive or other device to the USB input. An internal 512MB flash drive lets you store content internally.

Sound quality you'll enjoy
The KIV-900 brings a 22-watt per channel amplifier to the plate, and you can dial in the sound to match your taste with the 3-band parametric equalizer and other sound-shaping tools. The Digital E's crossover feature allows you to trim some of the lows out of your full-range speakers and adjust the low frequencies going to your sub, so your equipment plays more efficiently. If you're building a full system, the three sets of 4-volt preamp outputs make it easier to add amps and subs to the mix.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use this adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Kenwood stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Kenwood, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Kenwood KIV-BT900 utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality (up to 110 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio and 93 Dynamic Range).

MOSFET Amplifier: The Kenwood KIV-BT900 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KIV-BT900 are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels

3-Sets of 4.0V Preamp Outputs: The KIV-BT900 features front, rear, and subwoofer 4.0V preamp outputs. The front and rear speaker preamp outputs are balance and fade adjustable. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The subwoofer preamp output features an independent level control (-15 to +15).

Amp Off: You can turn the KIV-BT900's built-in amplifier off to improve the quality of the sound from the headunit's preamp outputs.

Supreme+ Setting: When MP3, WMA or AAC files encoded at a low bit rate (less than 96 kbps, 44.1k, 48kHz) are played, the Supreme+ Setting function restores their high frequencies so the sound quality is closer to files encoded at a high bit rate. The processing is optimized for the compression format and the bit rate used. When the Supreme+ Setting is Off, the unit plays the original sound stored in the audio file.

DSP: In order to optimize the sound quality, you can use the headunit's integrated DSP to set the type of vehicle and speaker sizes, locations, distances and x-over points. The DSP settings include the following:

    • Skip Search: You can search your Zune's music content within a specific category by using a percentage search (0.5%, 1%, 5%, or 10%). This allows you to skip ahead a certain percentage of songs in a particular category or folder.
    • Play Modes: The KIV-BT900 digital media receiver provides the following Play Modes to control your Zune.
      • File Scan: This function plays back the first 10-seconds of each music file in a particular folder successively.

      • Repeat: You can play back a single music file repeatedly.

Note: Your Microsoft Zune's controls will be locked during connection to the Kenwood KIV-BT900 digital media receiver. The KIV-BT900 supports Audio only playback. It will not output your Zune player's video or still-images.

Changer Controls: This unit is directly compatible with Kenwood changers manufactured in 1998 or later. If the changer has an O-N switch, the switch will need to be set to the "N" position. In addition to basic disc navigation features, this unit has the following changer controls: direct disc access (using the remote), direct track access (using the remote), track intro scan, track repeat, disc repeat, disc random, and magazine disc random. When connected to a CD Text capable CD changer, this unit can display disc and track titles for discs encoded with disc and track title information. The text information can be scrolled manually or automatically.
