Fender Passport® Event
Compact portable PA system — great for a school, training room, or coffeehouse
Our take on the Fender Passport® Event by Crutchfield's Buck Pomerantz
Do you need a small PA system to help with presentations or play music in a small auditorium, chapel, or coffeehouse? Fender's Passport Event system gives you the ability to amplify up to four microphones and an instrument, as well as play music from a portable player with enough volume to fill those kinds of spaces. The system uses 375 total watts to drive two PA speakers, each consisting of an 8" woofer plus a 1.2" horn-loaded tweeter. The 3-piece system latches together in one neat suitcase-like package for incredible convenience for travel or storage.
Well laid out and simple to use
Just unlatch the speakers from the mixer module, plug in the included cables, and you'll be all ready to plug up your mics and music for your show. Each channel of the Passport Event's powered mixer features reverb, bass, treble, volume control, and an overload/clip indicator, so a loud voice won't distort, for example.
Channels 1 through 4 all feature a Pad button that lowers a hot incoming signal 20 dB, also to prevent distortion. Channel 5 features a high-impedance setting so you can plug a guitar directly into the system. You can play music through channels 6-7 by either wiring to your player via headphone jack or RCA cords, or wirelessly by way of your compatible Bluetooth device. Mono and subwoofer outputs let you expand your system with additional powered speakers and subs.

Overview: The Fender Passport Event is a portable and versatile audio system designed for smaller venues and occasions. It includes a powered mixer and two full-range speakers that conveniently snap together for suitcase-style portability making it ideal for small clubs and coffee houses, seminars, meetings, and sporting events. The Event features a 7 channel mixer with 8 inputs: Four XLR, three 1/4" TS, one 1/8" stereo jack, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. The built-in amplifier provides a total of 375 watts of power for clear reliable sound. Other features include Bass, Treble, and Reverb controls for each channel as well as subwoofer and monitor outputs.
Inputs: All of the Event's inputs are located on the front panel. Channels 1 - 4 have female XLR jacks, channel 5 has a 1/4" TS input jacks that can accept a line or instrument level signal, while channel 6/7 is configured as a stereo/dual-mono input, with two 1/4" TS (L/R) jacks and an 1/8" stereo jack. Input 6/7 is also used as the Bluetooth input.
Outputs: The Event's main output channels are two 1/4" TS jacks located on the rear panel. The front panel houses a 1/4" TS Subwoofer output that activates an internal crossover when a plug is inserted into the jack, applying a 120 Hz high-pass filter for the Main outputs while outputting the lower frequencies from the Subwoofer jack. The front panel also includes an 1/8" stereo headphone output as well as a 1/4" TS Monitor output that can pass the Main signal out to an additional powered speaker. The Monitor signal is pre-Master Volume control, but has a dedicated Level control that affects both the Monitor and Headphone outputs.
Channel Strips: Each of the Event's channel strips has its own Volume, Bass, Treble, and Reverb amount controls. Channels 1 - 4 include a Pad button, which reduces the input sensitivity by 20 dB for stronger line-level signals. Channel 5 has an Instrument/Line button which can activate the high-impedance (Hi-Z) pre-amplifier for instruments or be left off for line-level signals. Channel 6/7 includes a Pair button for linking to a Bluetooth streaming device. All of these buttons will light red when activated.
Master Volume: The Main Output signal can be adjusted with the Master Volume control. This section includes two 11-segment, green LED level meters with a red zone to indicate clipping.
Reverb: The Passport Event includes a built-in Reverb algorithm with each channel having its own level control.
Speakers: Each of the two included speakers contains a 10" woofer along with a 1.2" tweeter housed in a durable molded-plastic enclosure. The front panels are protected by a perforated metal grill that also includes the 1/4" speaker input jacks.
Indicators: Each of the input channels and the main volume have an LED indicator that lights green when a signal is present. These will turn orange if the signal level gets close to clipping and will go red if the signal does clip. There's a main power indicator that lights green when the unit is on and a Protect LED that will light red indicating the mixer has shut down due to an electrical or thermal problem. The Pad, Line, and Pair buttons light up red when engaged.
Rear Panel: The rear panel of the Passport Event has two 1/4" speaker output jacks to use with the included 16.5' speaker wire terminated with right-angle 1/4" jacks. There's a voltage selector switch that can be set for 100V - 120V or 220V - 240V for international use. The rear panel also includes a 3-pin IEC power socket, the Power switch, and a small storage enclosure to house the speaker wire and power cord during transportation.
