About the Kicker Q-Class 43L7QB82
Little giant
Little giant
When you want huge bass in your vehicle, Kicker's legendary L7™ subwoofers are at the top of the charts for great sound and powerful output. But sometimes there's no room in your car for a big box. Kicker's solution is their Q-Class™ 43L7QB82 enclosure, which combines the power of the L7 sub with an incredibly compact enclosure that'll fit into spaces too small for an ordinary sub box. And the enclosure's 2-ohm impedance allows you to draw maximum power from your sub amplifier.
Game changer!
The sub's innovative square cone moves much more air than a conventional 8" round cone, and the enclosure is optimized for the 8" L7 sub so it'll handle up to 500 watts RMS without breaking a sweat. The incredibly compact enclosure comes with a permanent-mount bracket that allows you to pop it in and out of your vehicle easily — Kicker even includes a carrying bag! It's a game changer for anyone with a smaller vehicle who needs powerful bass.
Innovative woofer
The woofer's forged aluminum frame and Santoprene™ rubber surround handle high-level playback, while keeping the cone on track. The injection-molded SoloKon™ polypropylene cone features 360-degree, constant-contact back bracing for strength and responsiveness. And the UniPlate™ back plate and pole piece are made as a single, solid unit to allow heat to escape the motor. Translation? Kicker designed this sub to take some serious punishment.
Tough enclosure
The enclosure is made of 1/4" thick solid aluminum with the strength to stand up to whatever's rattling around your trunk. Its black finish enhances the cool factor, along with metal mesh grilles to protect the speaker and port. Save space without sacrificing great bass.

Features
Overview: The Kicker L7QB8 is a robust and ultra compact passive subwoofer utilizing Kicker's "Reflex Subwoofer" technology. The 500 watt RMS subwoofer has been designed to deliver discerning sound quality in a compact and durable enclosure while taking up as little space as possible.
Driver: The L7QB8 consists of a single 8" square L7 driver along with a specially tuned L7 passive radiator. The passive radiator functions much the same way as a port would, but allows greater control over the tuning. The L7 driver is a dual 4Ω voice-coil sub with both voice-coils wired in parallel for a 2Ω load at the single set of spring-loaded terminals on the enclosure. Both the driver and the passive radiator cones are made of injection molded polypropylene along with a Santoprene surround with both adhesive and stitching. The woofer driver uses a cast aluminum basket with perimeter venting to ensure good heat dissipation, critical for high power handling, along with a solid (non-vented) pole piece that's forged into the steel bottom plate of the woofer, allowing for high excursion. The driver also includes a large ferrite motor assembly with an integrated heatsink in the top plate. The passive radiator carries the same design as the woofer, without the motor assembly, and is located at the opposite end of the enclosure.
Enclosure: The L7QB8 uses a solid aluminum enclosure that has been seamlessly extruded to 1/4" thickness in one complete piece. This makes the enclosure very durable as well as making it almost resonance free, improving sound quality. Both the woofer driver and passive radiator are protected by heavy duty, powder coated, metal-mesh grills.
Mounting: The L7QB8's mounting system is designed for quick and easy installation and removal as well as being nearly invisible when installed. The included mounting plate screws into the mounting surface. Once its installed, the subwoofer enclosure simply slides into the plate and is held in place with a retaining clamp that's locked in place with 3 hex-socket screws. A nylon carry-bag is included for easy transportation of the sub when removed from the mount.

Just replaced my high output 10" JL sub with this and I must say I'm pleased. It pounds like a pair of 10's though not ground shaking like the JL's and it takes up much less space than that huge JL box and it's cheaper. (VanKulture)
