Fujifilm VPB-XT2 Reviews

Overview: The Fujifilm VPB-XT2 is a Vertical Power Booster Grip that serves a dual purpose. The grip provides a shutter release button and many other controls to greatly improve functionality when shooting in the portrait (vertical) orientation. It also has a battery tray that holds two rechargeable batteries (in addition to the one in the camera), effectively tripling the battery life between charges. The VPB-XT2 is compatible with the Fujifilm X-T2 Mirrorless Digital Camera, and includes a 9-volt AC power adapter for charging the batteries.
Battery Tray: The VPB-XT2 holds two NP-W126S (or NP-W126) batteries, increasing the number of photos you can take, and the number and length of movies you can record with the X-T2. With three batteries in the camera, the camera will display the level of each battery individually. The camera will use the left battery in the VPT-XT2 until no charge remains, followed by the right battery, and finally by the battery in the camera.
Enhanced Performance: When fully-charged batteries are inserted in both the X-T2 camera and the VPB-XT2, you can enjoy a faster maximum frame rate and decreased shutter release lag. In Burst mode, the maximum frame rate (with mechanical shutter) is increased to 11 fps, compared to 8 fps maximum normally. (Regardless of the performance mode selected, the maximum frame rate with the electronic shutter is still 14 fps.) In addition, the shutter release lag is 45 ms, compared to 50 ms in normal mode.
AC Power Adapter: Included with the VPB-XT2 is the AC-9VS AC power adapter, with a DC output of 9V / 2A. The AC-9VS plugs into the side of the grip for charging the batteries, or for supplying power to the camera. The batteries charge simultaneously in about two hours, but will not charge while the camera is turned on. Two small LEDs on the grip indicate the status on each of the batteries (On: charging; Off: charging complete; Flashing: charging fault).
Vertical Shooting: The VPB-XT2 attaches to the bottom of the X-T2 camera, with a locking screw that fits into the camera's 1/4" tripod socket. The grip's multi-pin camera connector plugs directly into the camera. When you rotate the camera from the landscape (horizontal) to the portrait (vertical) shooting orientation, the VPB-XT2 provides an ergonomic and comfortable grip for taking pictures. The grip gives you easy access to the following controls: Shutter release button, Q (quick menu) button, Fn (function 1) button, Control lock, Front Command Dial, Rear Command Dial, AE-L (auto exposure lock) button, AF-L (auto focus lock) button, Focus stick, Performance selector, and Indicator lamps. All of the controls perform the same function as the matching controls on the camera.
Headphone Jack: The Vertical Power Booster Grip provides a 3.5mm headphone jack for monitoring the audio during video recording. The X-T2 camera does not have a headphone jack. A short headphone extension cable is provided in case the plug on your headphones is too large for the narrow opening on the grip.
