Features

Two-Way Driver Design: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DB62 bookshelf loudspeaker features a two-way driver design with a 1" tweeter, one 6.5" woofer, and a 2,200Hz crossover. Both the tweeter and woofer have been custom designed by Andrew Jones to deliver an exceptional audio experience that can't be delivered with typical off-the-shelf parts

Cloth Dome Tweeter w/ Wave Guide: The 1" silk soft-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround that improves power handling and a waveguide that improves directivity control by eliminating cabinet diffraction inherent in traditional box enclosures. The 1" silk soft-dome tweeter candle handle high frequencies up to 35,000 Hz.
Woven-Aramid Fiber Woofer: The bookshelf speaker features a single 6.5" woven aramid-fiber cone woofer with rubber surround, oversized magnet, and vented pole piece. The revised shape of the aramid cone offers even greater stiffness and damping; far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.
Custom Crossover: A custom seven-element crossover (2,200 Hz) with audio-grade components is implemented to ensure smooth transition between the tweeter and woofer.

Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DB62 bookshelf loudspeaker uses a bass reflex cabinet with a front-firing flared port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. Moving the bass port to the front of the cabinet means placement against walls or in bookshelves won't compromise performance. The cabinet is made of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) to strengthen and stiffen the cabinet, helping minimize unwanted vibrations that can discolor music or movie content. The MDF outer walls of the cabinet are covered with a black ash wood-grain vinyl finish. A detachable cloth grille is included.

5-Way Binding Posts: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DB62 bookshelf loudspeaker is fitted with a set of 5-way binding-post terminals which will accept bare-wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single or dual).

Applications: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DB62 bookshelf loudspeaker can be used in a 2ch stereo application, or used as your front speakers and/or rear surround speakers in a multichannel home theater application.

2Ch Stereo or Front Speaker Placement: For optimum stereo imaging, place the speakers so that an equilateral triangle is created between the speakers your main listening position. You can also angle ("toe in") the speakers towards the listening position to gain a more focused central image.
Rear Surround Placement: In a 5.1channel surround setup, avoid placing the speakers forward of your listening position. The speakers should be spread apart wider than the front speakers. In addition, try to elevate the speakers to the same height or slightly higher as the front speakers for the most enveloping soundfield.

Note: In either application, the speakers should be placed 1' to 2' away from boundaries such as wall and corners. Close proximity to a side or rear wall will enhance bass performance, but being too close may result in bass that is unnatural.

Mounting Options: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DB62 bookshelf loudspeaker can simply be placed on a flat surface; like a table-top, stand, or shelf. The bookshelf speaker does not include a bracket, key-hole slot, or threaded insert for wall-mounting.

Greetings Rob, and thank you for your question. Personally I have and love the Elac Debut series. They are a 6 ohm speaker, and when you run the A, and B channels on a stereo receiver, the impedance is cut in half which in this case would be 3 ohms. Not many receivers, or amps can run a 3 ohm load. The NR1200 is 4 ohm stable. As much as I love those speakers, running 4 at the same time is going to be tough on the Marantz, and very well may shut it down. I would look at four 8 ohm speakers to play it safe.

I bought a Uni-fi central channel speaker on sale and I'm looking to pair it with either the Debut 2.0 b6 or with the Uni-fi 2.0 UB52. I have an Onkyo RZ620 receiver. I use my setup mostly for movies and music, it is a small/medium size room. Is it worth paying the extra for the Uni-fi, or should the Debut 2.0 B6 do the work? I have a sub for the setup along with smaller surround speakers. Thank you!

The UNI fi ub52's are 4ohm and would match better with your center channel that is also 4ohm than the b6 at 6ohm. Your amp will always perform better with speakers rated the same plus they sound better. Don't get me wrong the b6's sound great too just not as clear. I've had both types but the UNI FI's win hands down as long as you have a decent amp that can handle 4ohm speakers

That's a great question! Ideally you would want your front left and right to match your center channel because that is where you get the majority of your listening from so having consistency with materials and design will go a long way to making your system sound balanced. That being said, the Debut is still in the same brand and not drastically different materials so they would be a much better alternative than just about any other model but the UB52 would be the better speaker especially since you already have the center channel in that same series.

I want to run the Elac Debut 2.0 B6. 2 on SPKR B and Klipsch RP 280 on SPKR A. Amp output will be 112 watts per speaker. Is this a good setup?

Depending on the amp, there could be some issue using both sets of speakers at the same time. These ELAC speakers are 6-ohms, and when combined with a set of 8-ohm speakers in a parallel wiring scheme (such as we see in amps with A/B switching), then you will end up with an impedance less than 4-ohms. Most home amplifiers do not work well with impedances this low. For additional help with this project, please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695.

I've tried them with numerous receivers and all of them performed well with these Elacs. How much power you'll need depends on the size of your listening area and the amount of volume produced. While I can't offer specific advice on models or brands I can tell you that I've used them with Yamaha, Pioneer and Denon receivers in surround sound systems and they have all been great performers for music and movies. The speakers are rated at 120 watts so it's unlikely that you'll have concerns about too much power, rather I'd be more concerned with having too little to make them perform optimally. The smallest of my receivers was rated at 70 watts with 2 channels driven and produced truly impressive amounts of sound along with amazing clarity. Generally speaking I don't think the industry is making any surround sound receivers that won't be powerful enough to deliver good performance from the B6.2. Crutchfield sells one of the receivers I own, the Yamaha RX-V385 and it's been solid as a rock in my den. Without getting into details about receiver purchases I'll simply say it was a starter system but it's a true workhorse so going from there on to more powerful units I'd say the sky is the limit.

They are fairly easy to drive and only 6 ohms so most any amp will drive them. I've driven them with a small Emotiva integrated amp (~50@8 ohms) but now using them in my garage with an old Nakamichi 620 amp that's got far more power than they need but makes them sound excellent. Most any decent amp with reasonable power will be fine.

I power mine with a older Denon 4311AVR. Running straight stereo. They sound terrific not lacking anything in that price range. I could listen or watch all day. Use a decent amp. That Denon was a flagship amp in it's day

Sorry I am not an audiophile so I am not sure if I can make any good suggestions. But I use these speakers with a basic Yamaha R-S202 bluetooth receiver and a subwoofer in my warehouse and they are excdellent.

I use shelf brackets bought from Home Depot. Works perfectly! Two under each speaker. Just make sure they extend to the edges of the cabinets and you're all set!

Hey David, I wasn't familiar with that specific version of Close to you but I did look it up and play it repeatedly to see if I could reproduce the cabinet resonance you experienced. It never happened for me. I thought it might be simply a matter of volume but even at increased levels of volume it never showed up. I'm a big fan of these speakers, I have them in several rooms of my home so I even tried them in different rooms and never got the resonance you mentioned. I have them in a surround application and in 2.1 but it just didn't happen for me. I'm not sure if that's meaningful in the sense that your speakers might be different somehow, I don't have any means other than my ears of evaluating this sort of thing. I hope someone with a superior level of tech expertise can perhaps weigh in on why this might be happening. Good luck with future listening.

Not hearing it. I would characterize their sound as on the bright side if anything. How long have you had the speakers and how long have you had them playing. I noticed a significant change after about 10-12hrs of listening they really "burned in" and sounded better than right out of the box.. Your question is vague as well. What is your speaker placement? On stands in book shelf etc.? How far from the walls? 2 channel or do you have a sub for the lows? Size of room? empty and reflective or cozy and soft? At what listening level are you experiencing this? What is your power source? Many variables come into play but ultimately sound is a personal event and only you know what it sounds like to you and what you like. I have found these to be great little speakers and amazing for the $$

Hi, does running these 6 ohm speakers at 8 ohms affect the sound? I live in an apartment and listen at a lower volume so not concerned so much about stressing my amplifier (Denon AVR 2400) I have the amp set at 6 ohm now but wondering if at low volume 8 ohm will sound any better.

I would use the 8 ohm setting for six ohm speakers; i always thought that, if using only two speakers, you should not set the amp at a lower impedance than the speakers themselves. As to sound, just try it and see which you prefer.

These speakers are rated at 6 ohms and that's where their best efficiency will be. Having said that the manufacturers designed them to operate at a nominal 6 ohm load but I've never known speakers that were grossly affected by a slight difference in ratings. My own experience would lead me to say that without actually putting these speakers on a bench and testing them the difference would really be minimal. The 8 ohm load would mean that your amp would generate a lower wattage output but as far as sound goes I don't know why it would be seriously altered. Tube amps do need impedance matched components but the Denon AVR 2400 shouldn't have any trouble with these speakers and since you specifically mention that you listen at lower volumes I can't see any reason not to use the 6 ohm load but it should be well withing tolerance if you do. There may be some speakers and receivers that don't match well and that would have negative effects when used together but the average multimedia receiver these days is pretty flexible within normal usage. Speakers and receivers deal with a spectrum of resistance in any form of music because of the frequency range. Lower frequencies typically elicit a higher impedance, higher frequencies generate a lower impedance. Point being that a speaker is never exactly at the rated impedance but the engineers in charge have given it a general rating. All speakers that produce music do so at varying impedance levels and have a general range that they are most efficient at.

Why is there a CA prop65 warning, is it due to to formaldehyde? much appreciated thanks

John, you need to get a copy of the Material Data Safety Sheet from Elac. The answer to your question lies on the MSDS for this product. My speakers came without the Prop 65 warning, Prop65 is updated frequently and the speakers may have been found to have a substance recently identified. Good luck with your search for the answer, Elac will have it.

The Crutchfield warning does not mention the specific chemical but I read elsewhere that it is Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) which is added to plastics to make them flexible. I am not sure if it creates much of a risk since the speakers are probably not going to be handled much after they have been positioned for optimal sound.

Hi, just hooked these speakers up to the 55 watt Sonos Connect Amp and they sound amazing right out of the box -- crystal clear highs and tight, solid bass. Rich sound with volume on amp between 30% and 40% of max volume. At 50% sound is still amazing, but threatens the peace with the neighbors. The system is being used in a 450sf studio apt with 9ft ceilings; the main area of the apt that the system is in is about 250sf. I suspect the speakers will sound even better after a couple weeks of break in. Good luck!

Not sure. I'm not familiar with that amp. I'm running these ELAC's with a 200W / channel power amp. They like clean power I can tell you that. Incredible performers at this price point. Crazy good.

I haven't heard the Connect:Amp, but 55 watts is enough to power the Elacs in a room that size. But from my reading, it appears the Connect:Amp will only handle files up to CD resolution -- not high resolution files. For me that would be a deal-killer, with so many high resolution files available from certain streaming sites now. I use my laptop (MacBook) as a music server with Audirvana or the Tidal app to handle the files. That was the amp doesn't need to contain a DAC. Hope this helps. Steve

That is a large room. But they may work with that amp. My Belle's 150 v2 could drive them but only when I push the volume up. At low level they had no detail n sounded compressed. 125 wt. 250 into 4ohm. I have Dali speakers now, they sound great at any volume.. They cost 540. So thats more money.hope that helps.
