About the Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor (2018)
Open or shut? Warm or cold? This SmartThings sensor knows.
Monitor access to sensitive files with the Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor.
Open or shut? Warm or cold? This SmartThings sensor knows.
Is the front door open or shut? The Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor knows the answer, and it has a few other tricks up its sleeve. It also keeps track of ambient temperature so your SmartThings system can automatically adjust a Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat or Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat. Pair it with the optional SmartThings outlet, and have your living room lamp turn on when you open your front door. There are so many possibilities.
Connect it to a SmartThings hub, and start building a smart home system that will make daily life easier. You can add as many compatible devices and sensors as you want, and control them all using the SmartThings Mobile app (Apple®/Android™/Windows®).
How it works
The Multipurpose Sensor is made up of two parts: a powerful magnet that attaches to the door or window, and the main body of the sensor that remains stationary on the frame. When the magnetic field is broken, you are immediately alerted by a notification on your phone. You can set custom alerts for each room in which you have a sensor installed.
Note: A SmartThings hub is required.

Features
Overview: The SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor (IM6001-MPP01) is a versatile two-piece sensor with a built-in accelerometer. The sensor can be used on drawers, windows, and doors to notify you of unwanted access. It can monitor vibration and temperature changes. The Multipurpose Sensor comes with an adjustable mount, and is powered by a CR-2 battery (installed). The sensor's dimensions are 2.19" x 2.223" x 0.9", and it weighs 1.5 ounces.
Multipurpose Sensor: The SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor consists of two parts: the sensor and a magnet. The sensor and magnet can be mounted on opposite sides of door and window openings, so that the two parts are aligned side-by-side. When the door/window is opened, the two parts become separated. This change in the magnetic field triggers a response to the SmartThings Hub. The Multipurpose Sensor can also be used to monitor access to drawers and cabinets. Its vibration detection capability allows you to monitor your a washing machine or dryer, informing you when your laundry is finished. The sensor is also sensitive to temperature changes, and can let you know if the heating or air conditioning is failing. In the SmartThings app, you can choose how the system responds to the trigger, from sending a notification to your phone or tablet, to turning on lights, or adjusting the thermostat.
SmartThings Monitoring System: The SmartThings Home Monitoring system contains several sensors and a central monitoring hub to help you make sure your home is safe. Available SmartThings sensors include this Multipurpose Sensor, a Motion Sensor, Water Leak Sensor, and a Smart Outlet. Numerous devices (locks, thermostats, wireless music systems, cameras, light bulbs, etc.) from Samsung and other manufacturers can be controlled through the SmartThings system. The SmartThings monitoring system is controlled via Wi-Fi and the SmartThings app for your smartphone or tablet. SmartThings devices can also be controlled with voice commands using Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant. No contracts or monthly fees are required to monitor your home with the SmartThings system.
SmartThings App: The SmartThings app for your smartphone or tablet lets you easily control, monitor, and secure your home from virtually anywhere in the world. The app is available from Apple iTunes for iOS devices running version 11.0 or later, and from Google Play for Android devices (6.0 or later).

Nice Item. It would be a Five Star Rating if it were compatable with the Samsung Smartthings ADT Panel. I can still use it because I have the Smartthings Hub.
