Our take on the Okki Nokki RCM by Crutchfield's Eric Angevine
Tender loving care for your classic records
I love finding old, classic vinyl in back rooms and at yard sales, but it can be difficult to get them cleaned up and sounding beautiful again. The Okki Nokki RCM record cleaning machine makes the job of cleaning old records easy and efficient. It looks like a turntable, but instead of dropping a needle, it's a custom vacuum arm that suctions up used cleaning fluid to safely remove dust and grime.

Overview: The Okki Nokki RCM II record cleaning machine restores your record collection to its original glory. The RCM II comes with cleaning fluid concentrate, a goat's hair brush, plastic vacuum arm, and record clamp.
Design: The RCM II features a powder-coated aluminum chassis which is resistant to liquids or cleaning agents. Any heat generated by the vacuum motor is dissipated through the chassis. The solid construction makes the unit less susceptible to structural vibrations. The 11.5" diameter platter is raised and easy to access. The neoprene platter covering is easy to clean and resists moisture. The unit has a master power switch on the back, with a three-way motor switch (forward, reverse, off) and a vacuum switch on the front.
Dual Direction Motor: The RCM II's motor can rotate the record in both directions, clockwise and counter-clockwise. It turns at approximately 15 rpm.
Cleaning Fluid: The supplied cleaning fluid lifts dirt and debris out of the grooves. The fluid comes in a concentrate, and should be mixed with purified water before applying to your records. The entire 50ml bottle concentrate mixes with a liter of water (1.06 quarts).
Vacuum Cleaner: The RCM II's built-in vacuum removes both dirt and fluid from the surface of the record.
Procedure: The record should be placed on the platter and secured with the clamp. After removing obvious dirt and debris from the surface of the record, the fluid is applied to the record and spread evenly using the goat's hair brush. Pressing down gently to flex the bristles of the brush, you should hold the brush on the record for 3 to 4 revolutions in the forward direction, then repeat in the reverse direction. Next, the fluid and dirt is vacuumed off of the record with the plastic vacuum arm. Typically, two revolutions is required for removing the fluid. The fluid is pulled into a reservoir, which should be emptied after 20 to 30 cleanings.
Optional Accessories: Okki Nokki offers the following accessories for the RCM II, including an acrylic dustcover, dry cleaning brush (with extra velvet cleaning strips), cleaning fluid (50ml), and a replacement vacuum arm.

Looking for an easier and better way of cleaning records than the KAB EV-1 that I'm currently using. The EV-1 is a bit tedious but has served me well. [ DANIEL Jul 26, 2017 ]
