Features

Commercial Outdoor Sub: The Klipsch CA-800-TSW is an all-purpose, all-weather subwoofer that delivers low frequency sound in outdoor applications. This subwoofer has been designed to complement the Klipsch CA Series and other small to medium-sized full-range speaker installations. The CA-800-TSW can deliver strong bass response in a variety of applications.

8" Woofer: The CA-800-TSW's 8" woofer is constructed form UV-resistant, glass-reinforced polypropylene and is durable against the elements. The Klipsch CA-800-TSW delivers a deep, accurate bass through its 8-inch, long excursion driver that has a high-temperature voice coil attached to an IMG cone which is light weight and offers excellent rigidity and water resistance. The 8" woofer can handle up to 150 watts.

Crossover: The CA-800-TSW incorporates a built-in low-pass crossover that ensures a seamless blend between the subwoofer and your high-frequency outdoor speakers. The Klipsch all-weather subwoofer features an integrated 12dB/Octave low-pass fixed at 150Hz.

Vented Weather Resistant Enclosure: The 8" woofer is housed inside a bass-reflex, UV-resistant, all-weather ABS enclosure for added efficiency and bass response. The Klipsch CA-8000TSW's enclosure is paintable and features a rustproof aluminum grille, which is also paintable. The grille stays securely fastened and incorporates a new paint formulation for increased weather resistance and years of maintenance-free protection regardless of the climate or environment.

Multi-Tap Transformer: The CA-800-TSW includes a multi-tap transformer for 70 or 100 volt installations. There is also a bypass position that allows normal 8-ohm operation for installations that do not require a transformer. The switch is on the back of the speaker and can be set using a small flat-head screwdriver.

Connections: The Klipsch CA-800-TSW is equipped with 4 barrier-strip, gold-plated connectors for connecting the subwoofer to your amplifier.

Placement:  The Klipsch all-weather subwoofer is perfect for patios, decks, swimming pools, porches, or an other place where exposure to the elements make conventional loudspeaker usage unsuitable. The CA-800-TSW can be installed in a variety of locations due to bass frequencies being less directional than high frequencies. You will achieve better results if it is installed in  a corner or near a wall where additional energy can be reflected from the walls.

Mounting: The Klipsch CA-800TSW comes supplied with a removable C-style mounting bracket. The included heavy-gauge powder-coated zinc C-bracket provides added mounting strength. This bracket attaches to the subwoofer with the supplied low profile knobs that thread onto the top and bottom studs protruding from the cabinet.  This allows the subwoofer to be angled to the left or right when mounted vertically, or up and down when mounted horizontally. The additional 3/8"-16 threaded insert allows for use with optional mount brackets to offer even better placement flexibility.

I am concerned with the SPL considering it's only a 8" sub. I am not looking for a Boom'y sound or anything but have never purchased anything smaller than a 10" Before, with 12" being my 'norm' How does this sound compared to a 'normal' Sub?

For me. I am using it to fill in the low end between 2 Bose 251 outdoor speakers. They seemed a little bright. Within 10 feet of this sub you can hear it bark. Like port noise. It's awful. But from 10 to 70 feet away it makes a huge difference in giving me the low end. But by no means does it give me a hard hitting in my book like my JLAUDIO gives me in my vehicles. I used the recommended russound amp. But the port noise is really bad. I am considering replacing it this season.

I forgot to add that I am using a separate subwoofer amp to power my outdoor sub. That makes the sub work best.

I am using this sub outdoors on my patio. It gave me the bass I needed to balance my outdoor system. It has some "boom" but you will find that it's not going to rattle windows like your 12" sub. I have a Klipsch SW 120 on the surround sound in my family room that provides as much (or more) bass as I need and you know you have something special when it's cranked up. I am very happy with the outdoor sub you are asking about. The 800 is built to take the weather so that is a great choice for an outside system.

I am having a problem connecting and getting any kind of sound out of my sub. It is connected to an onkyo receiver and a Russound 75 amplifier. I also have 2 Atrium 5 speakers attached. I called Crutchfield and got 2 separate set of advice and sad to say it still does not work ( I think it's me)?

Hi Garth. Are you connecting the Klipsch CA-800-TSW using a Voltage Source or connecting it to a Subwoofer Power Amp? I connected my Klipsch CA-800-TSW using a Danton Audio SA230 Subwoofer Power Amp. I stood the Klipsch CA-800-TSW on end with the Klipsch Label on the Face Plate down, connected the Positive (+) Wire to the Top Positive (+) Terminal on the speaker and the Negative (-) Wire to the Bottom Negative (-) Terminal on the speaker. It is Very Important that you MUST Make Sure that the Rotary Switch on the Back of the Speaker is Set to The BYPASS POSITION. If you are using the setup that I am using (Klipsch CA-800-TSW setup as a Passive Speaker and being powered with a Subwoofer Power Amp), make sure that your Subwoofer Power Amp is capable of running a 4 ohm Speaker. Best of luck Ron
