Move IQ for intelligent tracking
Counting steps is a great way to get moving and improve your fitness. But if you're like me and enjoy variety in your workouts, Garmin's vivofit 4 activity tracker is with you for the long haul. Features
Overview: The Garmin vívofit 4 is a water-resistant activity tracker that helps you keep track of and reach your personal fitness goals. The slender, lightweight device is worn on the wrist, and displays your steps, calories burned, and distances traveled, and alerts you when you've reached your daily goal. It can even monitor your sleep. The vívofit 4 weighs less than an ounce, comes in a choice of colors and sizes.
Garmin Connect: The vívofit 4 has built-in Bluetooth Smart technology so you can automatically pair it to your smartphone or mobile device. You can also use an optional wireless USB ANT+ stick to connect the device to your home computer. With the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone or computer, you can keep track of your activities, your daily goals, the calories you've burned, and help motivate you to keep active. You can also share your activities and goals with your friends on social media. The vívofit 4 settings are configured on Garmin Connect, including Time Format (12-hour or 24-hour), Measurement Units (miles or kilometers), Visible Screens, and Auto Goal. Garmin Connect for your home computer is compatible with Windows 7 SP1 and newer and Mac OS 10.10 or newer. Garmin Connect Mobile works with Bluetooth Smart-compatible devices, including Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod touch running iOS 9.0 and above, and select Android devices (version varies with device).
Wrist Band: This vívofit 4 comes with a large wrist band (for wrist circumferences between 5.83" and 8.46"). A version of the device with a small-medium wrist band (4.8" to 7.4" wrist circumference) is available. The vívofit 4 should be worn all day to monitor your activities, and all night if you wish to monitor your sleep.
Activities: The Garmin vívofit 4 keeps track of your activity level throughout the day and displays the results on the 0.43" x 0.43", always-on liquid crystal display with a resolution of 88 x 88 pixels. You can view at a glance your daily step count and the percentage of your daily step goal, the distance you have traveled, the number of calories you have burned, the time of day, your current heart rate, and your heart rate zone. If Auto Goal is enabled, the device will adjust your daily step goal up or down depending upon your previous step totals. If worn at night, the vívofit 4 monitors your rest, including total hours of sleep, sleep levels, periods of movement, and periods of restful sleep. The vívofit 4's memory stores up to 4 weeks of 24/7 activity data, (less if the heart rate monitor is used). You should sync the device with your phone or home computer periodically to clear the memory.
Move IQ: The vívofit 4's Move IQ technology recognizes from your movements the different activities you perform. Whether you're walking, running, biking, swimming, or on a treadmill or elliptical, you don't need to adjust the device when you change your activity.
Move Bar: Sitting for long periods of time can be detrimental to your health. To remind you to keep moving, vívofit 4 displays the Move Bar and gives an audible alert after one hour of inactivity. Additional segments of the Move Bar appear after every 15 minutes of inactivity. Walking a short distance will reset the Move Bar.
Intensity Minutes: The vívofit 4 monitors the intensity of your activity and tracks your intensity minutes. Several health organizations recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week.
Toe-to-Toe: The Toe-to-Toe feature lets you wirelessly connect your vívofit 4 to your child's vívofit jr. 2 device, or another vívofit 4. You can challenge your children, spouse, or friend to a instant timed step competition. After the competition, both devices will display the total number of steps taken.
Water Resistance: The vívofit 4 has a water resistance rating of 5 ATM, which means it can withstand pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters (164 feet). Not only can you wear the device in the rain and wet weather, you can even shower or swim with it. The device also has a wide operating temperature range of 14° to 140°F.
Batteries: The vívofit 4 is powered by two user-replaceable SR43 batteries (also known as a 386 button battery) with an estimated life of approximately one year. The batteries never have to be charged, so it's always ready for your next activity. A small Phillips screwdriver is required to change the batteries.

When the Vivofit Jr. finally died, our 8-year-old son wanted a replacement. He was not enamored with the 'kiddie' Star Wars or Marvel watches. He selected the Vivofit 4 as a replacement, and has been very pleased.
